I told everyone she is my baby. I lied.

My life changes forever when my little girl appears in a basket on my doorstep, her long lashes fluttering, only a few hours old. She’s so tiny and precious; my heart is hers in an instant.

My husband Tom and I have always longed for a child, so we agree not to tell the authorities. We won’t risk them taking her away. And I know if they find out my history, they’d never let me keep her…

I’m so grateful to have my beautiful baby, who we call Daisy. But while Tom refuses to talk about it, I can’t stop wondering who her biological parents are and why they left her with us?

Then someone sends me a message, enclosing it in a funeral programme I find on my kitchen table. Now I know the terrible truth about what happened to Daisy’s parents, and it’s closer to home than I could ever have imagined.

I thought I could protect us all, despite my past mistakes. But when the secrets I uncover put my family’s lives at risk, how far will I go to keep the little girl I love?

An utterly heart-pounding and twisty psychological suspense novel from bestseller L.G. Davis. Perfect for fans of Gone Girl, Teresa Driscoll and Freida McFadden.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of Stolen Baby by LG Davis. This book sucked me in from the start. I enjoyed picking it up to read some more each time. It was very entertaining with plenty of twists to keep the reader engaged. I have read a few by this author and I feel that she never disappoints. The ending to this book came as a surprise. I would recommend this book to others. A 4 Star rating from me.

What a tangled weave of deceit this book holds! Nora, her husband Tom, and his 19-year-old daughter from a past relationship, Isobel, have just been through something horrific as a family. Nora and Tom have been trying to have their own baby, and after two miscarriages, Nora gets pregnant again. This time, she carried the baby much longer, long enough for them to name her Danielle. But again, fate played a cruel joke, and she lost Danielle as well.

Nora already suffers from anxiety and depression, and this third loss has her a shell of herself. Just as she’s at her darkest, her doorbell rings. At the door is a newborn baby with a note saying her name is Daisy, and to please take care of her. Nora takes this is a sign, and after a week of no police reports or visits, they decide to keep Daisy and raise her as the child they just lost. (Just one of the first times you’ll need to suspend reality in this book).

The rest of the book is all spoiler territory! Yes, this book is very unrealistic, but it’s also very entertaining and definitely a page turner. I knew one of the big twists immediately, but there were many more twists to come that shocked me. Much of the book is from Nora’s POV, but when it switches to Isobel’s, I think the story takes a turn for the better. I didn’t feel much for any of the characters, and I thought the whole thing was slightly cheesy, but I still enjoyed this book a lot - it’s just going to go in the popcorn thriller category for me. 3.5 stars, rounded up.

(Thank you to Bookouture, L.G. Davis and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on January 24, 2025.)

Stolen Baby had me hooked right from the prologue and I found it difficult to put this book down. Told mainly from the POV of Nora. Who is happily married to Tom and she has an older daughter Izzy from a previous relationship. Desperate to have a child with Tom she is determined to do anything to make this happen. This was a fast paced read with plenty of twists and turns and some I certainly wasn’t expecting. The characters were all well developed and interesting. From start to finish I was completely invested in the story. The ending had me hoping for a sequel.

This book was a psychological mess in the best way. There was so many twists and turns and OMG WTF moments. I loved having different characters’ points of view and the changing timeline was maddening and so informative at the same time. I wish the ending was less of a cliffhanger and more definite. I wanted the two characters at the end to have a different outcome. Overall 4.5 stars and I absolutely could not put this book down.

This book was outrageously ridiculous. At times I had a hard time continuing on because it felt so unrealistic - but I finished as I wanted to know the ending. This book wasn’t for me but that doesn’t mean it won’t be for someone else.

I recommend reading and demeaning on your own if it’s for you!

I love when a prologue grips me and pulls me into the story! This one for sure didn’t let up, and my attention didn’t waver once. So many theories & speculations, yet I still could not guess how this would conclude. This author built suspense and tension that continued throughout the entire story.

After several miscarriages, Norma is simply ready to give up. But when a baby shows up on her doorstep, she can’t help but assume this is fate. Let with only a note, they begin to care for baby Daisy & protect her as if she were their biological child. But the fear of will her mother return, will they get caught by the police, should they contact social services, so many questions linger! The secrets that are revealed as the story unfolds are mind blowing! Great for fans of family/domestic thrillers, with twists you won’t see coming.

Too many unanswered questions. They could have ended this a lot of different ways. Great concept of a book but left unfinished.

She's not mine...but I'll do anything to keep her...

Nora was just sixteen when she had Isobel, who is the light of her life, and for twelve years it had just been the two of them before she met and married Tom eight years ago. Now after suffering several miscarriages, Nora fell pregnant again and it was looking very likely that she would carry this one to term. But just a couple of weeks ago, she suffered a late term miscarriage and was left desolate.

Nora has struggled with severe depression for years and her miscarriages have only fuelled her depression, leaving her grappling with anxiety and the depth of the abyss into which she often finds herself. Isobel is worried sick about her and is hesitant about leaving her alone, deferring her own studies to care for her mother. For a long time, it had only been her and her mother and she knows Nora gave her everything she could growing up, so being there for her is the least Isobel could do for her now.

And then just when Nora is at her darkest, the doorbell rings. Dragging herself from the couch she opens the door and finds a basket with a newborn baby and a note saying that her name is Daisy and to please take care of her. Nora takes this as a sign - she was meant to have this baby. The mother couldn't care for the child herself and for some reason believed Nora was the perfect one to take care of her. It isn't hard to convince Tom or even Isobel to keep little Daisy. And after a week of no police reports of missing babies, they decide to keep Daisy and raise her as their own.

OK, yes. You really do need to suspend reality here. In what world would three people all agree that taking someone else's baby and raising them as their own is a good idea?

There isn't much more I can say about the story from here on in as I would be venturing into spoiler territory. But what I can say is nobody seems to have an iota of common sense! And I really mean no one! They are all aboard the crazy train even if they do disembark at different stations. Plenty of eye-rolling is to be had and face slapping is needed for every single one of them!

The story unfolds through Nora's perspective and then Isobel's. Both women are guilty of jumping to conclusions along the way with no one coming up with any kind of resolution. I wanted to smack everyone so much for their plain stupidity. But having said that, regardless of how irritating everyone could be, the story was still addictive enough to keep me turning the pages.

Another quick and easy read from Liz!

I would like to thank #LGDavis, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #StolenBaby in exchange for an honest review.

Stolen baby by L.G Davis is a fast-paced thriller that will have you flipping the pages eagerly to find out what happens next. Nora, Tom and Isobel, Nora's 19 year old daughter from a previous relationship, are a close family that has had their share of heartbreak. After Nora's third miscarriage she is depressed and longing to fill the hole in her heart. When the doorbell rings one night, Nora opens the door to find a baby in a basket on their porch. In the basket, a note saying the baby's name is Daisy and to please take care of her. Nora instantly feels a connection to this little baby and Tom and Isobel agree to take care of Daisy until they can find out who left her on their doorstep. After a week of taking care of Daisy with no word from the police or anyone coming to claim her, Nora and Tom decide to keep Daisy and pass her off as the baby that they had miscarried. But just where did Daisy come from? And who are her parents?
This book was a quick read and a wild ride with a ton of twists and turns. Yes there are some parts that are a little unrealistic but it's a thriller, not a true crime book. Most of the book is told from Nora's POV but also switches to Isobel's narrative where we get another perception of what happened. The ending does end quite abruptly but I feel like it could definitely be led into a sequel. Definitely recommend reading if you're looking for a quick easy thriller read.
Thank you to NetGalley, L.G Davis, and Bookouture for this ARC. Expected release date is January 24th 2025.

Nora, her husband Tom, and her 19 year old daughter Isobel from a previous relationship are a family. But something is missing. Nora and Tom are desperate for a baby. After a couple miscarriages, and while saving up for IVF, Nora finds out she's pregnant again. Things look good until she wakes up in agony and is rushed to hospital, once again being told her daughter had no heartbeat. Just when she is at her lowest, Nora opens her front door to find a newborn baby and a note asking for her to look after the baby. Nobody knows she lost her baby, so Nora is sure that she can just pretend that this little girl is the child she gave birth to.

This one took me some time to get into. I've been unwell this week and I get emotional when I'm ill, so having had my share of miscarriages and a full term stillbirth, reading about Nora's losses and her pain had me needing to put the book down for a little while. However, once I properly started to read it, I couldn't put it down. I really ended up enjoying it, and I loved all the twists. I figured out a few of them, but there were others that surprised me.
My only issue with this one was the ending. It made the story feel unfinished, and I also felt like there were a couple of unanswered questions (mainly what was going on with Isobel's boyfriend Joe). But overall, it was a great read, and I'm excited to read more from this author.

This is the first LG David book that I have read; I requested it as an ARC read from Netgalley for which I’m really grateful!

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the book. And I’ll try and set out why constructively;

PROS:
The book is fast-paced
I did want to keep reading to find out what would happen

CONS
I found the whole story unbelievable ; from the mother accidentally telling her daughter that her father was dead, the unrealistic dialogue between mother and daughter, the very unrealistic first week of life with a newborn, instantly calling a Dr when the baby cries, and to 3 adults, including the Dr not questioning going to the police about a missing child?!
I found the book too fast-paced and chaotic.

For me unfortunately the whole plot was unrealistic and quite laughable at times. But with that said, I did keep reading. I wouldn’t rush to pick up another LG Davis book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest review.
Nora has recently lost a baby and is filled with grief. A basket appears on her porch with a baby girl in it along with a note asking her to care for the baby whose name is Daisy.
Lauren, Nora's daughters best friend is found dead. Lauren, it had been discovered had recently given birth before her death.
How did Daisy end up at Nora's front door? Who is the baby's father? How did Lauren die? Nothing is quite as it seems in this story. Very slowly the bits and pieces come together for a very twisty read.

Releasing January 24th!

What would you do if you found a newborn on your doorstep?

From the moment I picked up Stolen Baby, I was captivated. The gripping plot, filled with lies and deceit, and the twists had me glued to the pages! I devoured the book in one go, staying up way to late, haha. L.G. Davis, masterfully crafted a storyline that was both heart-wrenching and exhilarating, making it impossible not to empathize with the characters' struggles. The emotional depth added another layer to the suspense, making the stakes feel incredibly high.
This book had me on the edge of my seat, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a heart-pounding read.

3 stars: Desperation, grief, and morally grey decisions.

L.G. Davis’ Stolen Baby is a suspenseful psychological thriller that examines the lengths to which love, desperation, and secrecy can drive a person. From the first chapter, the book grips readers with a haunting premise: A newborn baby left on a doorstep becomes the centre of a web of lies, danger, and devastating truths.

The story follows our deeply conflicted protagonist, Nora, a woman whose yearning for motherhood has shaped much of her life and identity. When Daisy, a fragile, hours-old infant, is discovered on her doorstep, it feels like a miracle, a long-awaited answer to the ache she and her husband, Tom, have carried for years. But this miracle comes with a heavy burden: They decide to keep Daisy without notifying the authorities, which sets off a domino effect of tension, secrets, and distrust.

One of the novel’s most compelling aspects is how it explores the psychology of its characters. Nora’s past mistakes and traumas aren’t just backstory - they’re central to unravelling the mystery and her increasingly erratic decision-making. Similarly, Tom, her husband, is a study in quiet complexity, his refusal to engage with the truth about Daisy’s origins adding another layer of friction and intrigue to the story. The dynamic between the couple is as much a battleground as it is a partnership, underlining the toll secrets take on even the most substantial relationships.

However, while Stolen Baby is gripping, it’s not without its flaws. While effective at maintaining suspense, the relentless pace occasionally comes at the expense of deeper character development for some secondary figures. Tom, for instance, feels somewhat underexplored. His silence and avoidance are central to the tension, but his motivations and internal struggles remain somewhat vague. A more nuanced exploration of his perspective could have added additional layers to the story and given us a better understanding of the dynamics within the couple’s relationship. Additionally, its reliance on familiar thriller tropes may feel predictable to seasoned fans of the genre.

That said, the novel’s strengths outweigh its weaknesses. Davis’s writing is taut but simple, immersing us in a world where every tiny detail - a misplaced object, a passing remark - feels heavy with significance. Her delivery of a fast-paced mystery is commendable, and the themes she tackles, such as identity, morality, and the lasting effects of trauma, resonate. The focus on motherhood and loss, in particular, is handled with care, blending the joy and beauty of parental love with its accompanying fears.

In short, Stolen Baby is an emotionally charged thriller that blends suspense with poignant character exploration and hard-hitting real-life issues. While some secondary characters could benefit from deeper development (I would have enjoyed more points of view, for example), this book is a solid domestic thriller thanks to its fast-paced plotting, sharp chapters, tight writing, and compelling themes.

Recommended for fans of:
- Domestic thrillers such as The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena and The Perfect Mother by Aimee Molloy.
- TV shows such as Big Little Lies, The Sinner, and The Secrets She Keeps.
- Plots that focus on moral dilemmas and complex family dynamics.

Title: Stolen Baby

Genre: Psychological Thriller

My Rating: 4 stars

Nora and Tom Swanson have been married for a few years and live in Ellery Creek, Maine. They have been looking forward to having a baby. Nora had Isobel when she was only sixteen but Anthony Isobel’s father decided he wasn’t ready to settle down and disappeared from their lives.
Tom is the Principal of Ellery Creek HS and met Nora and Isobel when he was a math teacher and they came to the after school program for a free meal. He and d Nora became friends and soon feel in love.
Nora unfortunately has had several miscarriages so when an infant baby girl shows up in a basket on my their front step, Nora feels their prayers have been answered,
There is a note stating – “Her name is Daisy. Please keep her safe.”
Tom wanted to notify authorities. Nora is positive the note proves the parents were desperate and knew they would keep Daisy safe.
Tom finally agrees. When Isobel comes home and finds Daisy crying .She is shocked but when Nora tells her the situation, Isobel looks at the baby and welcomes her to the family.
They want to keep her and know with wife’s history baby Daisy will be taken away and put in foster care.

Story kept me curious. I read a lot of thrillers so am suspicious of everyone -so one of the big reveals wasn’t a surprise. But the ending was indeed bizarre~ although unrealistic it was still a page turner.

This is only my fourth Liz Davis story. The other three were great earn 4+ or 5 Stars! They were all great page turner and left me wanted to read more of her stories.

Being adopted myself, I am always interested in books that have a child displaced from their parents for whatever reason. It’s interesting to see how authors treat babies like this in fiction. Sometimes, they are very sensitive, putting the needs of the child above all else. That was one reason I liked Void Moon. In that book, the birthmother realized that at that point, she was only thinking of herself and not the daughter she had given up.

In Stolen Baby, the child in question feels more like a prop. Nora and Tom live in a small town in Maine along with Nora’s daughter Imogene (Izzy). Izzy was born when Nora was 16, shortly after the death of her own mother. Nora carried a secret all these years and has struggled greatly with depression. She and Tom have been trying to have children, but so far, all of her pregnancies have ended in miscarriage.

Nora is still in a deep depression from her most recent preterm stillbirth when a baby is left on their doorstep with a note pleading for them to take care of her. The baby’s name is Daisy. Nora quickly falls into being a mother to the child. Izzy and Tom both help out a lot as well. Izzy, in fact, seems to be more au pair than big sister.

Things take a sinister turn when Izzy’s best friend turns up dead, and the police say she has recently given birth. Did Izzy kill her best friend and steal her baby to try to help her mother? What about the baby’s father? Who is he, and where is he in all this?

Stolen Baby by LG Davies, for those who like the utterly ridiculous and absurd, popcorn, thrillers will definitely enjoy this book. Nora here is a knock at the door and finds little Daisy a newborn baby right after her, and Tom have experienced another loss of one of her pregnancies. She has an older daughter Isabel from a previous relationship, but her and Tom desperately want a baby of their own, but haven’t had any luck doing that. Since the neighbors seen her pregnant, they decide to pretend little daisy is the combination of that pregnancy and not the dearly departed Danielle. Even college student and older daughter Isabel agrees to the plan that they will keep Baby Daisy and pass her off as the new baby. This is as much as I can say, because saying anymore will give plot points away and spoil the book for those who want to read it. No matter how ridiculous I can tell you this book was once I started reading it. I did not want to stop. I was desperate to find out how why and what and OMG the answers are astounding! I do want to say that Isabel‘s over anxious attitude towards her mother seemed unlike most teenagers would act because in my experience most teenagers don’t even notice when the mother‘s mood changes or their mother at all for that matter. I don’t know what else I could say about this book. I do recommend it, but there is a lot of eye rolling in absurd plot points in the book. having said that if you want a fun thriller and a quick read, I don’t think you will be disappointed with LG Davies new book. #NetGalley, #Bookoucher, #LGDavies, #StolenBaby,

Stolen Baby by L.G. Davis is a psychological thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats, second-guessing everything they thought they knew. The story begins with a straightforward premise—an abandoned baby is found, and the mystery of where it came from and who its parents are takes center stage. As a reader, I thought I had the plot figured out, but like any great psychological thriller, the author skillfully throws in unexpected twists that completely reshape the narrative.

The suspense builds steadily, as Davis masterfully crafts a series of twists that keep the reader guessing, unable to put the book down. Each revelation is timed perfectly, providing just enough information to make you question your assumptions and dive deeper into the mystery.

What stands out about Stolen Baby is the author’s ability to balance tension and surprise, creating a rollercoaster of emotions. The unfolding drama and intricate plotting leave you stunned, unable to predict what will happen next. For fans of psychological thrillers, this book is an exhilarating ride from start to finish, with a satisfying and jaw-dropping conclusion that will leave readers thinking long after they’ve turned the final page.

Overall, Stolen Baby is a well-crafted psychological thriller that combines an intriguing mystery with compelling characters and shocking twists. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a gripping, fast-paced story that keeps you guessing until the very end."

Nora Swanson, 35, and her husband Tom have longed for a baby only to have their dreams destroyed when she miscarried. Nora is an illustrator for children’s books and Tom is a high school principal. Nora has a daughter, Isobel, 19, from a relationship when she was 16. Just as Nora is trying to heal from her latest loss, a newborn baby girl is left on her doorstep with a note saying that she is called Daisy and to please take care of her. Nora and Tom are thrilled but know it would be considered wrong to keep the baby if another found out. But they decide to just enjoy her for a while and worry about that later, Isobel is also quite taken with Daisy and all three of them take turns loving her and feeding her.

But secrets start to emerge and everyone is keeping one or two. Who are the real parents of Daisy and how did she come to be left with Nora so soon after her own loss?

The secrets are shocking and everyone has a hand in them. I liked the story but did not like the offensive boyfriend that Isobel had. I saw that other reviewers found the ending to be quite abrupt and as I reached that spot in the book, I have to agree with them. I think that more thought should have been given to a better ending and that may have made for reviewers giving the book more stars. I do like this author and have read others of her books. I look forward to reading more by her.

If you like a thriller that punches you in the face with the plot twist and then right when you start to see straight again it drops the elbow off the top rope then read this book! Every time I thought I had this one pegged the author was like but wait watch this… I switched sides so many times it’s embarrassing!
This story starts with someone hanging over a cliff looking up into the eyes of someone who they thought loved them…. Btw… we need fences on all cliff edges!!!
Nora and Tom have been trying so hard to have a baby but unfortunately Nora keeps losing the babies… after her latest loss she hears the cries of a baby coming from her porch…. She thinks she is losing her mind but makes herself go check just incase and that is where she finds precious little Daisy, bundled up in a basket with a note that says please take care of her.
Nora takes her in of course but with her past hovering over her head and the recent loss of her baby girl she knows they will never let her keep Daisy, so they decide to lie and say that Daisy is theirs…
What will happen if they get caught and who are the parents? Will they change their minds and come back for Daisy? Lies and secrets are starting to build up and it’s all coming to a boiling point…. Which may or may not lead up to that cliff and with someone staring into the eyes of betrayal!!!!

Fans of twisted psychological thrillers, you must run out and get your copy of Stolen Baby by L.G. Davis today!! Out of all the books she has written (and I have been a fan for a while now) this has to be my favorite! It is phenomenal and deserves way more than 5 stars!! If you like missing person cases with a HUGE twist then you must read this book!

Stolen Baby is addicting, edge of your seat, binge read, nail biting, gripping, suspenseful, twisted, shocking and heartbreaking. It's a story full of hurtful lies, betrayals, secrets and shocking revelations. If you blink you will literally miss something because she jumps time frames in the book quite often to keep you on your toes.

L.G.’s story tugged hard on my heart strings as I felt for many of the characters and their situations. There were a lot of important situations that were addressed in this book that I think many find somewhat relatable.

The climax and ending of Stolen Baby was perfection!!! Total perfection! I was left stunned in total shock! It was brilliant!! Never ever saw that coming!! I didn’t want it to end. I need more!!

What did I just read?! I’m still not sure. Did I enjoy it? Yes, very much. But was it realistic? Absolutely not.

This book throws one over-the-top event after another at you, which, to be fair, keeps things interesting. It starts a bit slow, but once it picks up, it’s hard to put down. The plot twists are solid, and the ending? Definitely not what I expected. (No spoilers, but it’s a wild ride.)

The writing is fast-paced and easy to get through, which makes it a fun read. However, the characters feel pretty flat overall, making it tough to connect with them. The exception is Isobel—she has the most depth, and the POV shift from Nora to Isobel halfway through really helps piece things together. That change was a nice touch.

That said, some plot points felt unresolved—like, what happened with Joe?! I kept waiting for answers that never came.

Would I recommend it? Eh, not sure. It’s entertaining, but if you’re looking for something realistic or deeply emotional, this probably isn’t it. If you just want a twisty, fast-paced psychological thriller that doesn’t take itself too seriously, then go for it!

Big thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the digital copy in exchange for my honest thoughts!

I have read every book by l. G Davis that I could get my hands-on. Stolen Baby was one of her best. Every character had so many secrets and told so many lies it was a wonder how they functioned and lived their everyday lives. Every time I thought I knew where this was going, it turned me in a different direction.

Nora and Tom have been trying to have a baby together for a while. Each sadly resulted in a miscarriage. Nora has a teenage daughter Izzy who Tom considers a daughter but he would also like to have one with his DNA. One morning the doorbell rings and when Nora answers she finds a baby on the front porch and a note telling her to take care of the baby named Daisy. Pulling together to keep Daisy safe, they navigate through all their lies until one by one they start to unravel and explode.

The story is told mostly through Nora's POV with a few chapters from Izzy's POV woven in. The story was so addictive and the writing superb. It was easy to devour in one sitting. The ending was phenomenal and so unexpected. I highly recommend this.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy

Stolen Baby 3.5/5

Nora has wanted a baby desperately, but after several miscarriages a baby mysteriously ends up on her doorstep.

The beginning took me a bit to get into it, but then it really picked up.

Several times the chapter would end with some foreshadowing that took you out of the moment and halted a surprise from happening . Example “it’s this feeling I get when something terrible is about to happen, and honestly, I’m invariably right”. This happens a couple times at the end of a chapter when a nice moment is occurring and feels a bit jolting as a reader .

As the story progresses and shifts to Isobels point of view it really picks up! She’s kind, and cares deeply about those around her. Her POV also has you developing more empathy for her mom. She carries the burden of caring for everyone around her.

The twists are good!! 80% in I was in shock mouthing “wtf” on repeat! The ending was definitely well done as well!
