USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
Stephanie Bond has been writing serials (one episode/day) from July 1-December 31, since 2016 — a different book each year. I’ve loved reading them all - each day. This year. I’m reading them in KU.
I love her writing and this serial is starting with a great storyline. It’s a testament to her writing ability that I can enough of a good sense of the characters by the short daily vignettes. Although, I do keep a note file with a short tally of who’s who so when a character shows up after it’s been a while, I remember them faster. But that’s on me and my memory with the other things going on and other reading.
This one focuses on a woman who rents an old house in Alabama after her boyfriend steals her money and embarrasses her in the public. She’s a famous romance novelist and known in the media. As she gets over the shock of the rundown house and her responsibilities, she branches out and begins to meet a few folks and maybe make some friends.
She also learns about the previous home owners and their tragic and unknown deaths. Plus the full moon brings mischief. And she starts to wonder what she’s doing. It’s very gothic mystery in our contemporary times.
One of the best parts? The delightful cliffhanger at the end of the month so you’ll read the next month to find out what happens on the story — because remember this is a serial, not an independent story in a series.
If course there’s another option: you can read these for free each day at her website. But I have to say, I love this way of reading this serial; I’m really busy this summer and fall and this way, I can read all the days without having to be sure to work it in my schedule each day. And then be unhappy if I’ve missed a day’s episode accidentally.
And once you realize how good these serials are, check out all the precious ones!!
Happy reading. .

Josephine is the author of a number of historical romance books and they have proven to be very successful.
What didn't prove to be successful was her marriage to Curtis who is basically a low-life con artist that she has finally divorced. The is going to take a break from what has been going on and will house-sit The Whisper House.
It turns out she's not just to take care of the house, though. She also has to take care of a goat named Satan, a bunch of chickens (she has to also collect their eggs) and, to top it off, a graveyard.
She also meets Sawyer, a guy who repairs tombstones. Supposedly witches were buried there including one named Rose.
There seems to be witches still there, though, which leads to a ceremony and the electricity going off. The goat causes trouble and there seems to be a revelation about Rose.
This is a really good introduction to the series with strong characters and hints of a major mystery developing.
Graveyard Girl Part 1 is the daily serial that takes place in July and it unfolds a day at a time! This is such a fun way to read a cozy mystery! Josephine Vanguard is an author and she is trying to write her second book but it isn't going well and her boyfriend cheated on her. She wants to get away so she finds a house to rent in Irving, GA. She has chickens , a goat and a graveyard to tend to and no experience. There are a lot of people in and out of the graveyard including an intriguing man. There are laughs and potential romance. I can't wait for Part 2! #GraveyardGirl #StephanieBond
Josephine, a romance writer, rented an old house in a small town in Alabama to get away from the gossip after her fiance stole her money and to try to get over her writer's block. She didn't find out until after she arrived that she had chickens and a graveyard to care for as a requirement of renting the house. She meets a few people from the town who spark her curiosity about the previous owners of the house and the graveyard. Plenty of mystery and humor. Can't wait for part 2 to be released!
Josephine was just retreating to a mansion in Alabama…getting away from the scandal of an ex -BF who destroyed her financially. As a well-known historical romance author, she’s definitely gotten more than she expected from this home with a Graveyard, the Whisper family legacy of witches…and now she’s really in for a wild ride since the Graveyard gates weren’t locked! What is next? Is she in danger? Will she tell Sawyer so he can help? Can’t wait for part 2 release on August 1!
Each July for many years now, Stephanie Bond comes up with a Girl, who gets herself in some crazy situation and solves a mystery. This goes on until year's end. Then I have to wait 6 months for a new series. This one surrounds a girl who runs away from her own life (temporarily, I assume) and finds herself as a caretaker to a property with a private cemetery. What could possibly happen?? Read and find out. This one is shaping up to be another winner.
I wasn't sure how I felt about the title of the book, much less the content. However, I have become completely enamored with the first book. I expect to be done with the series by the weekend. I love characters that are developed from small town USA. It's a fun read, and the characters are developing well. And we have a rascal of a goat and chickens with attitude. Delightful!
It is July once again and that means the beginning of Ms. Bond's newest serial, Graveyard Girl. I have been eagerly awaiting this year's story. A well written story, that can easily be read in one sitting. The only downside is now I will need to wait another month for the next installment.
I love Stephanie Bond's series. The only thing I don't like is having to wait for the next instalment! Graveyard Girl is very entertaining and easy to read. The quirky characters and mystery surrounding the house and the graveyard pulled me in. I really hope the boyfriend gets his just desserts! I'm getting on with reading the next one ASAP!
So we’ve got a woman who was burned so bad she curled tail and moved out of town… into a spooky house with a creepy graveyard. Oh ya, and a smokin’ hot guy. This Book is 1 takes place in Alabama in the month of July. Great build up. Now what? Stay tuned for part 2 which takes place during the month of August.
FS: "Hello. My name is Josephine Vanguard. Oh, you’ve heard of me? Please… you can’t believe everything you hear, or everything you read, or even—now that AI is making videos—everything you see."
LS: "The gates have to be locked to keep the witches’ spirits within the cemetery. I shuddered and pulled the covers over my head."
Graveyard Girl 1 is very engaging and keeps you wanting more. I’m not a fan of witches or that stuff but I can see the appeal of the story and am enjoying it so far. Always good when the reader is wanting more…
I just love Stephanie Bond’s books and this one is no exception. She pulls you in to the story within the first few pages and gets you connected with the characters and invested in them early on. Cannot wait for more parts to be released!
I really enjoyed reading this first installment of Graveyard Girl. This is unique and entertains. I look forward to reading it each day. I can’t wait to see how the story continues in part 2.
Just finished book 1 of Graveyard Girl. Not disappointed. What will Josephine discover next? What about Sawyer? Will her book ever come to fruition? Time will tell!
Josephine and Author is escaping a bad breakup and needs to get out of the spotlight. She ends up at the Whisper house to house sit while she works on her overdo book.
There certainly is a lot of strange people in this town or ate they witches?
It took me a little bit to get into this series but now that I’m done with part 1, I am invested and looking forward to seeing where she brings this story.
This story starts off a little slow but don’t give up! Once the book takes off it is a wild ride! It’s a good light story and then it turns kind of spooky. A great read for the upcoming fall season. I can’t wait for the next part to come out!
I really enjoyed this book. This book is entertaining and interesting. It takes you away from all your problems and is fun and relaxing. I totally recommend
Fun way to count down the second half of the year, daily reading a part of The Graveyard Girl. Stephanie Bond posts parts of the story everyday from July 1 through December 31. Cute mystery-romance. Already looking forward to next years adventure.
Even though this is a quick read, part 1 of Graveyard Girl is packed with details. I'm tickled to know I can start part 2 immediately to learn what happens to Satan!
