Pack Companion #2

The Alpha Club

Rate this book
II’M HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT.

I thought I had everything under control. A foolproof plan to keep the noxious Sawyer Pack from claiming me as their omega.
But right when I’m about to make my bid for freedom, it all comes crashing down.

Instead of escape, I’m dumped in the lap of the Volk Pack – incredibly powerful alphas who have taken control of the most infamous club in the city.

They have a beef with the Sawyers, and taking me is an easy way to get under their skin.

But I’m not the only one locked up in their residence. They’re also providing shelter to a beautiful omega who’s recovering from a vicious attack. Without his sight, Casper is as much a prisoner as I am, and the Volks offer me a deal. Their protection, plus a roof over my head, if I take the job of pack companion.

It means spending nearly every waking hour in Casper’s company, but that’s easy to do. Because there’s something between us that runs deep – a connection I’ve never felt before. As we coax each other out of our shells, I find myself making a home for the first time. And suddenly the alphas I swore I’d never fall for are proving to be better men than I ever expected.

But when old enemies track me down, they threaten to destroy everything we’re building.

Do I stand my ground, or will I be forced to leave The Alpha Club forever?

The Alpha Club is the second book in the Pack Companion world but can be read as a standalone. It follows on from the end of House of Omega and is Jasmine’s story. It includes pack bonds, messy heats, and alpha knots. There are NO shifters in this story, but there are tropes of hurt/comfort, soulmates, scent matching, and uber alphas. Check the TWs in the Author's Note.

Tropes:

🖤 uber alphas
🖤 omega soulmate

2.5 stars. I felt like this book was trying to do too much, and as a result, none of it was really fully covered. The resolutions to things were either very quick or entirely off page. The villains were dealt with quickly, which made me wonder what the point was. Jasmine’s relationships with Erik and Declan felt surface at best, and even her relationship with Xavier lacked much depth or emotion. And Patrick did not make sense at all, and that resolution was lightning fast.

Overall, if you read Omegaverse for the instalove, you will probably enjoy this. If you want a little more substance, this is probably not for you.

I was bored. Don't get me wrong a lot happened, but that left very little time to flush out a few characters. Namely Patrick and Declan

Declan is set up to be this southern crooner, with a velvety voice that hypnotizes people?? But all we get are two paragraphs about how is family made him do it and he really didn't want to, but also we can't talk about it because TRAUMA. There was golden opportunity to make him kind of interesting and it didn't happen.

Patrick felt like a throw away character who was added to the mix at the very last minute. His appearance was so rushed and felt pointless, but yes let's make him Jasmine's soulmate.

A quick read, that will occupy your time for a few hours. It just wasn't for me.

2/5 stars.

Roxy Collins writes omegaverses that I want to live in. I'm always excited for a new one and the Alpha Club didn't disappoint (like it would, ha).

Jasmine first appeared in House of Omega, the previous book. Everything was set up perfectly for her to be the mean girl (at least on the surface) but she surprised me. Jasmine had a caring heart, I liked her from the start and this story only compounded that feeling.

Now this is a pack who knows how to get stuff done. Erik, Xavier, and Declan are capable, emotionally present, and prime examples of what alphas should be. Besides the alphas, there's Casper, a male omega who Jas connects to immediately. Casper and Jasmine have to be one of the cutest couples. They had a closeness that went straight to my heart.

The plot was full of spice and intrigue, with a handsome pack of alphas, shady pharmaceutical companies, gangsters, and the mysterious Alpha Club. A shocking reveal was introduced to readers pretty early and that set the tone for the rest of the book. There was enough action and plenty of plot twists that kept me hooked. What really piqued my interest was a new aspect Roxy introduced to the world, one that I didn't even know the characters were capable of. I'm hoping Roxy explores more of that in either this omegaverse or another.

The Alpha Club was phenomenal. There was a rainbow of emotions in Jasmine's story but most of all this book made my heart happy. I loved this story.

I didn't like this one as much as the first one.

First...clearly the AUTHOR has a thing for them but it's very weird to have two FMCs in a row who have a suspenders fetish. Unless I'm way off base, that's not that usual (appreciating and endlessly talking about them are different things) and it kinda blurred the two FMCs for me. Similarly, each of the books had an issue with scent-matching, although in this one it literally has no explanation and is waived away at the end.

Seconding every review of this book that said Patrick got shafted in this story, to the point where it would have made more sense to just leave him out (particularly since the half-sided scent match drama was a copy and paste from the prior book). They make him a heat facilitator and then he just sits in a room across the hall??? IDK, I felt bad for him more than anything else, although I didn't find him a super great character to begin with.

Also seconding every review that complained about not getting to know Declan any further. There's not even a real explanation about how his "siren" powers even work. Infusing alpha commands into song? Why does it work on ubers then?

I appreciated the injured fellow Omega but also felt so sad for Casper as well by the end of the book. The pack was courting HIM and then the FMC busts on the scene and all the alphas fall in love with her and she goes into heat and everyone is tending her and I know poor Casper is involved but when does HE get his special omega time??

Anyway, it was a quick read, done in a day, and certainly entertaining. If you're in it for a loose plot, spicy scenes, and some insta-love, you're going to have a great time!

I enjoyed it up until the end

I almost did not finish at the very end. SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I was genuinely enjoying this book until the end heat scene. Erik and the pack knew Patrick was a sent match for a long time. They did nothing the help bring him around for Jasmine to get to know, to help Patrick begin to bond with her, and then they are kidnapped together he risks everything for her and he gets a thanks hangout on the other side of the door while we bond with your sent match and sex her up for 3 days. Then out of nowhere when the heat is almost over she decides she has to have him and bonds with her. That is it with Patrick. I have NO idea why he was brought in. You meet him once in the book, when rescued Jas the first time and then nothing till the last 20% at which he saves her again. It was just frustrating. I wanted more of him if he was going to be a mate for her. It took me out a good book and made me almost not finish it.

Started off good, but as it progressed it started feeling like a checklist formula. Jasmine's foiled escape was interesting. After meeting Casper, it was smooth sailing for the pack. The lab made omega thing made her feel like a beta. The whole Patrick thing was strange. A scent mate that can't be sensed as well as a tie back to Grace's pack. Shame their bonding moment came at Garth's expense. It kinda felt like everything built in book 1 was torn down. The placebo end reveal for Jasmine made me feel like it was pointless.

Not sure how I felt about Patrick being initially cast aside by the pack. They're scent mates but nah, go wait in the corner. Same with Garth and his interference. Add in the soulmates and another lover of suspenders. I liked the puppy, Chewie was adorable, glad the sister was saved.

📖 overall thoughts

I guess you get points for trying I guess. the author definitely got lost in the sauce when it came to this plot. I kid you not, things were going well then suddenly we get to the second half of the book and we have all these new useless plot points that completely derailed the story and loses the reader.

I read this over the weekend and I can’t really remember much from it, all I remember is the plot going off the rails.

⚠️ Triggers

check the content warnings at the front of the book.

🏳️‍🌈 Representation

mm, polyamory

🌶️ Spice

I don’t remember it all but I do remember it didn’t add to the plot.

📝 Special Notes

I did receive this as an arc but all opinions are my own.

I am very surprised this got through beta and alpha readers. sometimes I feel like these teams are just in it for the free reads and lowkey ass kissing instead of pointing out “hey this plot points makes absolutely no sense”, “hey you’re gonna lose the readers”. if y’all really love these authors, y’all would do better.

I liked the first book but this was a flop. I do not recommend and I will not be purchasing a physical copy.

Check TWs, this one is darker than the first of the series.

I'm pretty certain I say this any time I review a book by Collins, but she has absolutely done it again. I finished this book 12 hours ago and am struggling to put into words just how much I loved this story.

As with the first book in the Pack Companion series, Collins has put a twist on the OV world with the introduction of Uber Alphas, and this theme runs strong through Jasmine's story. We first met her as a side character in the first book of the series, and I was so glad when Collins announced she'd be getting a book of her own; and it does not disappoint.

Jasmine is such a strong omega, who has been through the absolute ringer. I love that Collins started this book in a very suspense-heavy way, throwing us straight into the deep end of Jasmine's struggles, really bringing the emotions to the forefront. This book is full of them, and it's a true rollercoaster of a ride as she navigates being under the care of Xavier, Erik, Declan, Casper and eventually, Patrick. You celebrate the highs with her and the men, and you want to cry with her through the lows. There's mystery surrounding her (and her Alphas and omega, too), which makes you just want to keep turning the pages to find out what's going to happen next.

Each of the men in Jasmine's life is so distinct, so unique but also so needed in the wider pack dynamic. Xavier, the caregiver of the group. Erik, the protector, who will do whatever it takes to keep his pack safe. Declan, the playboy of the group - though there is definitely more to him than meets the eye. Casper, the omega who you can't help but fall for the moment you meet him. Patrick, the surprising addition who I would just love to know more about.

Part of me wishes we could have gotten to know some of the pack a little more, and I definitely wish there was more with Jasmine/Patrick . I also wish there were more scenes between the men of the group in a more romantic nature - Collins definitely teased us with all the yummy MM links in the book, but I would have loved to have seen this explored further (or to be able to be read - I'm a sucker for the sword crossing, what can I say).

There's a lot of mystery in this one, and a heavy underlying plot, which I absolutely loved. This isn't your typical sweet, fluffy OV novel; it's darker and full of twists that I wasn't expecting. The spice, when it hits, is well written and injected into the story in perfect places, and definitely makes you fan yourself a few (okay, more than a few) times.

The MVP's of this story - well, most valuable player and most valuable pup - hands down go to Violet and Chewie. I definitely think this book wouldn't have hit me as hard as it did without Violet's presence, and how the pack adapted to her being present.

Thank you so much to Roxy Collins for the ability to fan over her books as much as I do and providing an eARC for me to review and gush over entirely. All thoughts are my own which I have provided voluntarily.

This story is about an omega finding her way. Jasmine learns to embrace who she is and discovers more about herself than ever. Finally able to escape the clutches of the pack that wanted her for her connections, she lands in the hands of alphas she thinks are the enemy. She’s learned the hard way not to trust alphas in power and now she’s with some of the most powerful alphas she’s ever met. Thank goodness for Casper, the other omega that pack Volt has/wants. Becoming Caspers companion is one of the best things that could ever happen to her. The story was interesting, it kept me on my toes, but if I’m being honest it’s Caspers and Jasmines story that made me fall in love with this book. The way they are able to lean on each other and learn from one another just made my heart melt. And let’s be honest there’s just something about talking the mfc through her sexual journey that was just so hot. There is tons of MM in this book so if a pack sharing everything and everyone with each other is your jam, this book will be up your alley. There are darker elements to this book so please make sure to read through the trigger warnings.

*I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review*

This was a book I was so looking forward to, and it did not disappoint in the slightest! First off, I love whenever there's an omega-omega pairing in an OV book. It's still a somewhat rare pairing, but it always makes the storyline so much more interesting in my opinion. The action in this book was also top tier form the get go. I really enjoyed learning more about Jasmine's story, and it was great to see her develop over the course of the story. The alphas and male omega were all very distinct, and their personalities seemed to mesh very well into a believable pack dynamic. The only thing I didn't overly enjoy was how little time the fourth alpha got in the storyline. I liked his personality and motivations a lot, and it would have been nice to have seem their relationship develop just a little bit more, versus being told about it in the epilogue. Overall, it was still an amazing story, and I will absolutely be re-reading it down the line!

This book is fantastic. Jasmine has had a lot of bad things happen in her life, the latest of which is being forced to bond with the Sawyer Pack. The night before the ceremony takes place, she makes her escape. Things don’t go quite according to plan, and she ends up with the Volk Pack. She has many reasons not to trust alphas, but Xavier, Erik, and Declan (and eventually Patrick) work their way past her defenses and into her heart. Along with Casper, the omega they were already courting. There is a lot that happens in this book, not all good. But even the bad works out in the end. Jasmine and her pack deserve their happy ending more than anyone, and I was so happy to see them get it. The glimpses of Grace’s now incredibly happy life with the Rose Pack were nice to see. I loved her story as well. I highly recommend this one!

A sweetangst Omegaverse that is hands down amazing 👏 the character development, twists and turns, and the super steamy heat scene at the end was 🔥🔥🥵 This book will have you going through the emotions and you won't be able to put it down. With a happy ending as well! Jasmine has been through so much, but she is so strong and always had a plan to come out in the end.

She ends up at the Alpha club via a botched rescue that she planned but nothing is as it seems. One thing lead to another and she meets the guys. Where she is fiercely protected and they slowly bring her out of her gaurded shell. The guys are simply delicious, dominant, protective, but have a soft spot for their Omegas. I highly recommend reading this, the author did an incredible job on the second book for this series!

Really disappointing in comparison to the first. I didn't feel super tied to the characters stories or relationships with one another. Involving pets and a child in these kinds of stories always feels either icky or disingenuous.
Was surprised that it felt almost like the writing style reverted (I read these out of order -book 3, book 1, and then book 2) but it feels as though the first book was the most thought out and worked over and the other two were spewed out.
Not sure if the pressure from a good first release caused the author to write additional stories they weren't planning on or if it rushed them to release the next installments, but something felt awry. The first book shows enough promise that if possible, re-editing and publishing new editions would be beneficial.

OV stories where the pack has to work hard to gain the fmc’s broken trust are truly some of my favorites. Collins does a great job of this. It didn’t feel like it had the same risk factor as House of Omega since she was basically sequestered inside the alpha club but it was still good. But I think it would have been better if the POVs would have been more balanced. I didn’t get enough of what Casper was going through and how he was feeling. Patrick really didn’t get enough on page time, and I would have liked it if he had been brought into the mix a lot sooner. Overall it was a solid read and for the majority of the time a page turner.

I am swooning over Uber Alphas and male Omegas! The addition of soulmates and scent matches made this story even better. The Volk pack captured my heart right alongside the Rose pack. Jasmine has so many struggles she tries to overcome on her own. The betrayal by her father and her evil fiancé gave me some tense moments. Her lack of trust in alphas is completely understandable. I feel the surprise addition to the pack made the family complete. House of Omega and The Alpha Club has been permanently added to my favorites shelf!

This is book 2 of the Pack Companion series. You should read book one (The House of Omega) as the characters overlap. This story contains M/M and features both a male and female omega. Jasmine (the fmc) is just trying to execute her escape from the pack of nightmare alphas her father gave her too in exchange for a loan. But in her attempt she finds herself kidnapped and brought to Pack Volk to be used as a bargaining tool (or so her kidnapper believes). But when she encounters Casper (the blind male omega) and begins to draw him out of the shell of trauma he had been living in after a horrible assult, she finds herself offered a contract to become his companion. Taking the contract would mean safety for her, but would also bring her into closer contact with alphas that she is trying desperately to avoid. But the draw to Casper and the attraction they feel towards one another convinces her to stay. Pack Volk is not your typical pack. They include 2 uber alphas. Between the three alphas, and Casper they convince Jasmine to stay and they help her with the nightmare pack. Jasmine and Casper get their hea with Pack Volk and they even rescue other omegas along the way.

This was okay! Slow burn; and an interesting take on omegaverse. I came into this without having read the first one; so I may have missed some info for plot or back story, or something because I feel like this was missing a lot. It went into little to no detail on some things I wish it would have, like the relationship dynamics and others too much. It does have a time skip at the end, which is something I don’t like much in a book personally as well. This was an ARC read, so I always give those a grain of salt. ESP if I’m coming into a standing series. But this I felt just needed…more.

I just love Roxy’s OV books so much.
Every time a new one comes out I drop everything and have to start reading immediately.
The characters are so well written and the development of the relationships or so cute.
These books always give me happy vibes.

The Alpha club was top notch for the plot aswel.
There’s a lot of excitement and I loved how Grace and her pack also played a part.

MM was never really my thing but Roxy made me addicted and I definitely have a week spot for male omegas. There’s just something about them.

If OV, feel good, packs, knots, scent mates, Ubers in suspenders is your thing I’d definitely recommend these books. They are absolutely the best.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book… Jasmine is an omega that we met in House Of Omega. While The Alpha Club can be read as a standalone; you will get a better understanding of the story if you read HoM first. Jasmine is planing her escape from the horrible pack that she has been promised to. Her plans do not go accordingly and she ends up in the hand of the Volk pack. Jasmine has had a rough life and does not trust easily and she has a lot to work through and the Volk pack are up for it.

2.5 and not that it was bad, just fell flat for me.

spoilers.

I think what fell flat on all fronts for me was lack of character depth or knowing them. We have hints at these crazy dark pasts and hardships and we stay on the surface of these characters the entire book. Yes I know this book is mostly smut, but the story line being promising and not delivering is why it's a 2.5.

other than that the book is fine.

3.5 stars. Read this quickly and enjoyed it. However it felt like SO much happened it could have been covered by more books that would in turn enable us to get to know more of the characters. It felt like Declan and Patrick (Erik a little bit too) were sidelined and put in supporting roles that didn’t amount to much. It would have been great to have spent more time with these characters. Casper is perfection 😍 but even his growth felt rushed in the end. Great bones, could have been longer.

I absolutely loved this book! It was darker than the first but it was still adorably cute! I loved the different aspects from the first book and I liked seeing previous characters but this book was still so well done for being so different. The characters were all great, with little bits of their own back stories. My favourite part was the developing relationships within the pack.

Jazmine y sus hombres... Rayossssss! Una historia con muchos personajes, se debe tener la mente abierta para esta lectura y confieso que no fue una de mis favoritas. Esto es porque tuvo momentos en los que me quedé en el aire por los huecos entre escenarios y el cambio de personajes.
