so this guy would definitely cheat on her if the girl was hot enough 😃 (context: he lives in an apartment that he deliberately chose because it was above a topless beach and during this scene he’s fake dating the heroine and was already intimate with her…more than once)

another note: and ofc in true fashion surprise surprise the woman he was salivating over was the heroine but did he know that at the time? no and did he gaf? noo 🚩 this man was NOT a fictional man cause no fictional man would do that, no this guy belongs to the reality realm so gtfo

10/10 no notes. Best mirror and shower scenes (separate scenes) to exist.

THIS BOOK is absolutely everything. Riggs and Monroe might be my all time favorite couple in the CL universe and I was here for every snarky word that came out of their mouths.

Now if you have read CL before, you know these men fall HARD for the heroine and Riggs, this man went tumbling head over a$$ for Monroe and never looked back.

Riggs and Monroe started out hating each other, but when this man gets himself in trouble with his team, he needs a girlfriend to show he’s not a loose cannon. When Monroe agrees, the banter and sass that happens is top freaking tier.

But, this story is fantastic not only because it’s spicy AF, it’s that the spice is so different from what you normally read, especially with primal kink involved! ( I don’t care if you don’t normally like that trope, trust me in this you will.)

I also loved the swoony parts because Riggs is absolutely everything I wanted and needed in a book boyfriend.

This series is going to have my heart!!!

BANGER ALERT!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: if C.L. Rose writes it, I will read it. I loved every single thing about this book. I don't know how Candice creates these amazing characters, but I am completely head over heels for Riggs and Monroe.

Riggs is a baseball player for the Daytona Fury, and Monroe is his little sister's best friend. They had a one-night stand a few years ago, then parted ways. Now Riggs is dealing with some image issues and needs to find a fake girlfriend. Enter Monroe. She and Riggs are not exactly on the best terms, but a fake relationship situation mutually benefits them both. What happens while they try to navigate their arrangement? You'll have to read and find out 🤭

Listen, I thought Dalton from the Boston Blizzard series was the clear front-runner, but Riggs came in, stole my heart, and showed me what I was missing. Riggs Valentine is PERFECT. Period. You can't change my mind. I've claimed him, and that's that. He is swoony, charming, vulnerable, caring, protective, and possessive in the best way. The mouth on this man and his urges! WHEW! My girl Monroe is a force to be reckoned with. She is feisty and so incredibly strong. Monroe is a queen who deserves the world. Riggs and Monroe were meant to be together. They were HOT! The chemistry, the banter, the tension, and the steamy scenes were so good. The mirror? The bullpen? Her calling him a good boy? I am unwell.

Five stars is simply not enough for this book. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can't wait for what's next.

I have been a CL Rose fan from the beginning and as sad as I was to see the end of the Boston Blizzard series, I am so excited for this next series! And let me tell you something, Candice is hitting it out of the park with the first book in this new series. I mean this is a baseball romance with primal play. Dare I say more?

If you have read the Boston Blizzard series then you were introduced to both Riggs and Monroe. Riggs is a professional baseball player and Monroe is Riggs's little sister's best friend. These two had a steamy first meeting years ago and have been enemies ever since. But when Riggs finds himself in need of a girlfriend to clean up his image, the girl for the job is Monroe. And boy was this a fun ride!

Besties, I was living for Monroe and Riggs's relationship. I loved these two both individually and together as a couple. Monroe is a straight up queen. She's a strong and feisty FMC who has no problem giving Riggs a witty comeback. Which only added to their banter, which is TOP TIER banter by the way! Like I was living for their banter. But Monroe is a queen and the moment she called Riggs a good boy, I was cooked. Like put a fork me, I strive to be Monroe.

Now Riggs, I loved him. Dare I say he may have taken Dalton's number one spot for me in Candice's world, and that means a lot because I ride hard for my boy Dalton. Riggs was everything I wanted and more. I loved how possessive he was. I loved how open and vulnerable he was with Monroe. I loved how he could be himself and show a side of myself that no one else sees. And not to mention, I loved him primal animalistic side, which was fully supported by Monroe. They are truly a match made in heaven.

Honestly, this was an easy 5 star banger. I knew very early on this was going to be a 5 star read. I was instantly hooked and never wanted to put this down. Candice's writing style has grown and just keeps getting better and better! I am so excited for what is to come with this new series!

Everyone I know has been screaming at me to read this book for MONTHS. AND FOR GOOD REASON! I’m again, mad at myself for leaving this on TBR for as long as I have, because not only did I love our MC Riggs, but I fell in love with Monroe too. I want to be her when I grow up 🥹💕

Riggs and Monroe hooked up one night years ago, they both knew the score going in, even though they both were left wanting more. They pretended they had just met to Monroe’s BFF, and Riggs’ sister the following morning, and never spoke about that night again.

Now, Riggs’ career is on the line after a string of bad bit behaviour, and he needs to clean up his image with a family man persona, and he knows just who to call. Monroe is in no place to turn down a job, since she just lost hers, and they both figure they can pretend to be in a relationship for a bit, no strings attached, and it will benefit everyone. There’s no way these enemies will fall for each other right? Nope. Definitely not. Never. 😉

I truly loved everything about this book. It was HILARIOUS, these two really have the best enemies to lovers banter. I was ROLLING at many parts, they give as good as they get. It was so sweet, Riggs is SO DOWN BAD for his woman.. and as a reformed playboy.. his feelings come on strong, and come on fast! And it was soooo spicy. SO SPICY. I feel like CL reached into my brain and pulled out every single spicy thing I enjoy, and served it up to me on a primal play platter. Yes. This man has a STRONG primal k*nk. And Monroe is so game.

I’m absolutely obsessed with these two, and I might want to marry them both. Oh, and their HEA? Yep. So sweet. My favourite way to end a book. I feel like I got all my answers, all my conclusions, and it was wrapped up in a delicious, fun bow.

Even thought this is a baseball romance… my girl did not come to play with this one (get it?)
My expectations were absolutely obliterated in the very best way.

Having previously met both Rigg’s (Grace’s brother) and Monroe (Grace’s best friend and coworker) in the previous series its no secret that the two don’t like each other. Due to a sordid past and traded barbs over the past few years theres no love lost between Monroe and Riggs. That is until he needs to clean up his imagine and the one person he can think that he trusts is none other than his enemy. After agreeing to the arrangement and coming face to face with Riggs on a daily basis Monroe starts to realize there may be more to this fake relationship than she originally anticipated.

As things progress and the two start to realize how deep things have really become they both have to face their fears and rely on the other in order to have what they’ve always been lacking- love. As the skeletons in Monroe’s closet come to life both her and Riggs will have to make the ultimate decision- is their foundation stable enough?

I absolutely ate this story up. Both Monroe and Riggs were absolute perfection. I gasped. I laughed out loud. I giggled. I shrieked. I obsessively messaged Candice. I loved very single second of these two and their story. The enemies to lovers. The fake dating. The character growth. The mature conversations. The trust. The love.
ABSOLUTE PERFECTION.

Five well deserved mfin stars. I cannot wait to see whats in store for the rest of the series.

CL Rose is in her baseball era and I'm here for it! We got a Riggs teaser at the end of QB Keeper and the man did not disappoint! Wild Pitch was a freaking ride from beginning to end, full of heart and spice and everything in between. Riggs is a trophy book boyfriend, with a loveable sweet side that makes your heart swoon and a mouth that defies all the sweetness. He's strong and supportive of Monroe in so many ways and I loved every second of him!

Monroe's early life/backstory is literally nothing like my life, but I found her super relatable. I have been stuck in a job situation where I had to make a choice so I found a lot of common emotions in her first act dilemma. I SO appreciated Riggs's deal with her, as an investor instead of as a benefactor. I felt their mutual understanding of each other was so sweet- even though they thought that they hated each other!

As sweet as that (and a few other) moments were, there was a turn. The spice was soooo freaking spicy and there was absolutely 0 disappointment when it came to the steamy bits. I loved the dynamic between Riggs and Monroe, and how that translated differently into different parts of their lives. This book was definitely on the smuttier side, but they complimented each other so well that it just made sense. Their antics were a large part of their personalities so it just fit the story.

Overall, yes. I need more. Rose is an auto-buy for me with Wild Pitch being top tier!!

Could not get enough of Riggs & Monroe! I knew from about 40% in that this would be a five star read for me! We get the spice and steam right from the beginning and holy smokes, is it piping hot!! What was supposed to be a one night stand where Monroe wouldn’t even give him her name, their lives then become a little more intertwined than they anticipated. Their chemistry is off the charts and I love the banter between them, even when they hate one another.

I was swooning over so many moments with Riggs, but he is so caring and sweet that my heart was literally bursting at the seams. He fell so hard for Monroe and I loved it! He might be my new favorite MMC from C.L. Rose!!! And Monroe is strong and independent, focused on finding her own path to happiness and I respect that so much!

Dnf 53% Yeah, no. This was not what I signed up for. I couldn’t connect with the main characters at all, they were more “ugh” than “aww.”

• The timeline and pacing? Total mystery. Every new chapter had me wondering if a week passed or a month. Somehow it felt both rushed and endless, which is a real feat.

• I usually eat up an enemies-to-lovers plot, but their “banter” felt childish. Hard to swoon when it sounds like two kids fighting over the last swing.

• And can we talk about him calling her “sweet thing”? My European ears cringed every single time, especially before or mid-sex scene. Yuuck! Nothing kills the mood like feeling you’re in a bad country song.

• Also, the whole scene where the MMC is low-key admiring some random woman’s boobs at the nude beach? Yeah… not my vibe. Especially when he’s supposed to be catching feelings for his fake girlfriend. Sure, it turns out it was his girlfriend all along, but still, for those first few seconds he didn’t know that, and he was still staring like it was his job. Big nope. Here is reaction ⬇️

The topless beach below is pretty dead for it being such a nice day out. There are a few people who are fully clothed walking along the shore, and one topless woman lying face-up on a beach towel. I shouldn’t look, because I’m supposed to have a girlfriend, but I’m a weak man, and this particular set of tits is fucking spectacular—nice and full with hard, rose-colored nipples. I’m not so far up that I can’t see the little barbells that decorate the tight buds as they glint in the sunlight.
Fuck, she’s hot.

This was definitely your standard sports romance, enemies to lovers with a FMC who was tough on the outside and a gummy bear on the inside. I did like the MMC although some of the authors decisions on the characters speech was questionable. MMC was definitely adoring and committed and I did like watching their dynamic change. I will say I wasn’t onboard with the sex, mostly because I didn’t understand what the author wanted us to take from their ‘primal sex’ that personally felt more like your average rough sex that appears in most dark romance. The smut was fine, nothing out of this world. I know some have said there was no plot, a part of me disagrees although I do feel the PR crisis element should have been developed a little more.

I had not read anything from CL Rose's before, but this book had me hooked and eager to pick up her back list!

The story itself is probably a 2.5. Pretty benign, nothing too different than your average sports romance. But I bumped it up to a 3 based on Riggs. What a mouth, what a man, what an amazing MMC. He was so giving to Monroe and so genuine. I loved how devoted and kind he was. But also dominating and possessive. Just loved him to pieces. He made this entire book ❤️

What a start to this new series! Candice does it again, y’all! This book was HOT 🔥🔥🔥 like chemistry off the charts and multiple scenes living rent free in my head! You have baseball, banter, romance, & allllll the spice. Yep, y’all if you want a spicy book this is it because Riggs and his primal k!nk and filthy mouth with have you on the floor! I love me a sassy & independent fmc & Monroe did not lack one bit of sassy! I love her confidence to make something of herself & I love that Riggs is so supportive of her. They wanted to hate each other so bad, but when that shift away from enemies happens for them both you see the true magic in their relationship! I love them!🤍

✨️ Woo! The chemistry between these two is 100/10. Monroe and Riggs have a kinky no strings attached night, and think they'll never see each other again. Little do they know that is NOT what is written in the stars for them. Cut to a few years later, and they can't stand each other, but they have to see each other every now and then because she's best friends with his sister. They find that it will be mutually beneficial to fake a relationship. However, with all the chemistry and sparks between these two, you know how things go? 🎆 The banter between them is hilarious. The spice is off the charts 🥵. And I just absolutely ate this up!!
I definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of any of these tropes! It is so good!!
This is the first book in a new series, and I can't wait for book 2!!

I’d like to take this moment to thank my best friend for telling me to read a C.L. Rose book and that this one would be the perfect place to start.

She was absolutely correct and this book was absolutely INCREDIBLE.

When Riggs finds himself in some hot water with the upper management of his professional baseball team for being a loose cannon, he tells them that he’s just having a hard time getting the woman he loves to move to Daytona with him. The problem? He doesn’t have a woman in his life and now he needs a fake girlfriend to help him clean up his image.

Enter Monroe, his little sister’s best friend and the woman who hates his guts after their one night stand 2 years ago. She’s recently lost her job and is begrudgingly in a place to help Riggs.

What starts as two people who hate each other turns into these two realizing that they are their true selves when they are together.

Watching their love grow while they grow together and as individuals was amazing, and the way C.L. wrote them and their inner monologues truly scratched an itch in my brain that I didn’t know was there.

This was my first C.L. book, but it won’t be my last.

This has to be the spiciest book C L Rose has written yet. Riggs Valentine is the bad boy of baseball looking to turn his image around before he gets kicked off the team, so in a moment of panic he tells his boss he has a girlfriend that will straighten him out? Well... he does NOT.. yet.
This was such a easy lighthearted read, the fake dating, forced proximity was so much fun. The banter between Riggs and Monroe was so damn funny. Monroe really took no shit at all and gave back tenfold of whatever anyone tried to serve.

I lovedddd their bed chem, how unleashed they became with each other. It was so DAMN HOT. And I mean DAMN. FUCKING. HOT. I devoured this book the same way Riggs devoured Monroe- Greedily, Slow and Hard.

I'm inlove with these two. I've been inlove with all of the men from Boston Blizzards series so to now have a whole new series starting with Riggs, it was the icing on the cake.

I loved the growth of both characters and the hurt/comfort that was offered, was so damn sweet. 🥹
Absolute stunner of a book and can't wait to read the next in the series. ❤️🩵❤️

A fun spicy baseball romance filled with so much good banter but it also had me swooning! Riggs&Monroe were such a fun couple to read about. Both felt the same way when it came to serious relationships but they couldn’t help but feel the chemistry that just kept pulling them closer to each other, even though the initially went into their relationship as just a rouse. I loved how sassy and fierce Monroe was. She never shied away from who she was when she was around Riggs and I really loved that because she had to pretend to be someone entirely different for her family. Riggs was perfection. He constantly showed his love and affection towards her in the smallest ways. But this man sure knew how to disrespect her in the bedroom 🙌😮‍💨

⚾️ Riggs is baseball's "bad boy" with one f' up awa from being traded or kicked off the baseball atmosphere. He needs something to save his career and can't help a "well my girlfriend" from coming out of his mouth. He needs a lady, and FAST. There's no one better for him than Monroe, his sister's best friend.. someeone he can't stand for the life of him but will have to work with to get his life back together.

⚾️ Monroe is her parent's "golden child", someone whom they have a man to marry for her to continue the family luxury of staying home and running chairites.. the complete opposite of what Monroe wants. She's in Daytona, hanging out with her best friend Grace when her flamin' hot one night stand walks in. None other than Riggs... someone she absolutely hates but needs to help him out- standing out as a WAG for the Daytona Fury.

⚾️ Listen y'all I am OBSESSED with Monroe aka she's my new woman crush Wednesday #1 top of the list. She's spicy, she's sassy and she's fierce as f***. CL has a way to balance the spice ( 3.5 🌶 ) but also make you fall for each and every character every time. The mascot, Friggle, had me laughing and I can't wait to see more of him and Riggs's teammates in the future. Listen.... I'm just so proud of her in general tho and her author journey. What a start into a new series!!! CL Rose has quickly become a favorite author of mine, her writing is fabulous, and she gets me hooked from the first page and makes it hard to put the book away!

Riggs and Monroe are no friends, even tho they hang out with the same people. Until they both need help with their own little problems, and they both decide to dive into the fake relationship. But can there be more? What happens when lines are crossed??

I love their banter, the fun, the love they share. Riggs is the sweetest ever, and does everything in his power to get Monroe on his side. The banter is hilarious, the spice is high, the tension is palpable and the love is the sweetest!

Cannot wait to read more from the Daytona Fury team!

She wasn’t expecting to see a side of Riggs that no else sees. What happens when they start to fit together like two puzzle pieces?

Candice writes characters which are so amazingly believable , that I want to be friends with them . How the heck is it that I’m laughing in one chapter, crying in the next, and the one after that I’m wiggling in my seat? The chemistry, the banter, the tension, and the spice were all top tier. Riggs and Monroe were perfect together. Riggs was protective, possessive, and oh so swoony. Monroe is a sassy rock star. I loved this couple. If Candice started this series off with this banger, I extremely excited to see what’s up next.

I DO NOT like the reformed playboy trope.... especially when they talk about it. So I honestly didn't think I would end up liking Riggs but somehow he won me over.

That mirror scene... seriously loved it so much. Riggs showed Monroe how she deserved to be loved and it was everything.

And the spice, y'all! Whew!!! There was some degradation in there, which is not my thing, but otherwise 🥵
