Rowe Prince is many things.
Gorgeous? Yes.
Unintentionally hilarious? Absolutely.
The hottest, sunshiniest virgin to ever set foot in Manhattan? Oh, yeah.

One thing he’s not, though, is a reclusive billionaire named Sterling Chase who supposedly founded my company. So when the man (literally) stumbles into a charity gala saying precisely that, I do what anyone would: I set out to prove he’s a liar.

Except it turns out Rowe’s ridiculous falsehoods are surprisingly… enchanting. The heart of gold beneath his borrowed tux makes even a jaded businessman like me start to believe in fairy tales. And there’s no faking the heat between us when the man’s in my bed.

But when it turns out Rowe’s lies conceal a secret that threatens the company I’ve spent years building, I have to choose: say goodbye to the sweet pretender I’m falling for, or risk everything for a man who just might be… the prince of lies.

When I started reading this book, it felt a bit ridiculous and the humor was over the top, but the storyline got so much better later on. It reminded me of a certain movie and it really worked here. I doesn't often happen that a book gets better the further I read, it's usually the other way around, but this one did.

The more I learned about Rowe and Bash, the more I loved them. Rowe is so pure and adorable. He and Bash are amazing together and, even though there's an instant attraction on both sides, I found their relationship development believable. It was endearing and sweet and fun.

I loved every single character in Bash's group of friends – Kenji, Landry, Silas, Dev and Zane, and Rowe's friend Joey. I hope this book will turn into a series and I hope the other characters will get their stories. I already know who I'd love to read about next. Fingers crossed I'm right. 😊

Re-read 6/2024: Lovely! I enjoyed it as much as the first time around. 🥰 I have to say that I prefer the original cover. Not a fan of the new covers. 😬 But I'm glad the next book is finally coming out. I'm looking forward to Silas's story, even though the trope is not my favourite. And keeping my fingers crossed that the author is thinking of I'd love that!

Oh my gosh, this was so sweet and also surprisingly funny! This book made me snort, snicker, giggle and laugh out loud. It had a very wholesome and warm feel to it, and generally just succeeded in creating a perfect mix of quirky humour, loveable characters, a cute romance and a slightly crazy yet immensely fun plot.

The story is about Rowe and Bash, who couldn’t possibly come from more opposite backgrounds, but an insane plan and an even more insane execution of said plan throws them together anyway.
Rowe is a gentle, hilarious, silly, stronghearted young man who wants funding for a project he created in the honour of his twin sister’s tragic death. However, as a poor guy with no college education or inside connections, he discovers it is impossible to find anyone interested in backing his (brilliant) project. After having tried about a million times, he realises he will have to resort to more drastic measures to get the ball on his project rolling.
Thus, he decides to impersonate the founder of a major company at a charity gala in the hopes of finding someone willing to listen to his idea when they think someone more important is asking for their attention. At this gala he meets Bash, who just so happens to be one of the real founders of the company Rowe’s impersonating, which means Bash immediately knows Rowe is lying. Nonetheless, Bash is completely enamoured by the angelic liar, which leads him to not call Rowe out on his fake identity, and instead decides to play his own trick on Rowe by pretending to be his PA! This results in both of them sort of lying to each other in the most hilarious and winding way possible.

Honestly, I know this plot sounds pretty silly. And, well, it is. But I didn’t care whatsoever! It was simply so. much. fun.
Rowe’s impersonation of an eccentric millionaire, his nervous rambling, and the ridiculous lies he told to keep up the charade all had me absolutely rolling with laughter. This guy was so pure yet so funny, and I completely understood why Bash was so enamoured with him from the get-go. Honestly, I’d be completely smitten with him too! However, their interactions were not only hilarious, they were also genuinely so adorable and heart-warming. I couldn’t help but love this couple!

The plot, as I said before, was clearly not the most profound, but it still managed to keep me entertained throughout and I was truly invested in seeing certain things unfold. One thing that happened here seriously took me by surprise, and I thought the whole thing was pretty well-thought out.
Even though it somehow feels like this whole book would probably be stupid, it wasn’t really? It was clear the author put effort into creating this story, and it paid off.

All in all, I had an absolute blast reading this book and Rowe will go down as one of the most entertaining characters I have encountered lately.
The author made it seem like this would become a series, and I’m definitely keen on reading any of the possible sequels that will involve the other members of their friend group.

“I can’t believe anyone would accuse Sterling Chase of lying,” I said, rising to my feet and defying anyone to contradict me.

So so good once again. *lmaooo

But honestly, what’s with the new cover? So unnecessary, the previous one (this one) was gorgeous!!

Like all of my mutuals who read this already said and I totally agree —this was delightful! Great characters, great story, sweet romance, a little suspense and especially in the beginning super freaking funny. Loved it!!

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to see this through.”
“Good.” Bash gripped my jaw in both of his hands and pressed a slow, gentle kiss to my lips.
“Because if you run from me again, Rowe, I’ll come after you.”

How rude of Lucy Lennox not to tell who’s next in the series! I want the story of all the knuckleheads of the Brotherhood, but most of all Landry’s; preferably with their PA Kenji —there was a vibe, right?

edit: bahahaha! Do you remember Rowe’s cousin Joey and the quarrels he had as the Burrito Bandito with this Sandwich Shark dude? Well, here come Lucy Lennox with a super short bonus tying up this loose end. Real cute.

Yeah , ok, I was reluctant to start this one because lately I found myself bored with this author’s work. Her books have become less romantic and more forced OTT humor and crazy eye-rolling banter but the reviews were so enthusiastic for this one that I had to see it for myself what all the fuss was about . And maaaan, I ADORED this book!! It’s easily one of my fav from this author!
And I can’t really say it’s waaay different than all her other books because it’s not and yet : OTT humor and jokes ??? I cackled like a hyena! Slightly cheesy romance and improbable plot? I ate that shit right up!! And what a ride!!! I loved everything about it and I laughed so hard with the wonderful Sterling Chase ..Ah, what a feel good book!! It puts you in a fabulous mood and it’s so totally worth it! ❤️

The plot of this story is just this side of improbable, but I couldn't help but smile the entire time I was reading this humorous, sexy, and romantic romp.

Rowe Prince is the worst lying liar who lies, and Sebastian (Bash) Dayne has Rowe pegged from the first moment he opens his mouth and claims to be Sterling Chase, imaginary owner of the company Bash founded with his four best friends from college.

But despite Rowe's ridiculous tall tales and palpable anxiety, there's something real and, yes, honest about Rowe that Bash can't get enough of.

Prince of Lies is delightful.

Prepare for love-at-first sight, office intrigue fueled by a dishonest low life (I recognized the villain the second he appeared on page, but that didn't make me enjoy the book any less), and a fabulous cast of secondary characters.

Miranda and her mother Constance were a lot of fun and savvy to boot; Joey, Rowe's cousin, played such a small part in the story, but he was an absolute hoot, what with his rivalry with the Sandwich Shark and casual questions about gay lube; and of course, Bash's friends - Silas, Zane, Dev, Landry, and their PA, Kenji - are intriguing. I'm so looking forward to their stories!

Before I forget: this book causes burrito with spicy red sauce cravings. You've been warned.

OTT dumb but sweet, no braincell required books are all I seem to have brain capacity for right now.

So thank god for Rowe and Bash, because what a silly time with silly men falling in love whilst working through an over the top plot involving a terrible liar, a hot young billionaire and pot plant as a hiding place meet cute moment.

SUUUPER CUTE, super unbelievable & super over the top goodnessss.

This book is not for someone who's not in a silly goose mood.
I think if I read this on page, I maybe would have hated it.
Because I do feel that some books just ARE BETTER as audio???
The audio definitely made this very enjoyable and silly because one mc uses a silly accent when he gets nervous and it's super funny, random and endearing, and I think the narrator really delivered on that.

Also, I LOVE WHEN NARRATORS LAUGH???????? Like when the character is laughing and they talk/laugh/act out the scene? LIKE YAAAAAAAAAAAAAS NARRATOR KING, GET INTO THAT CHARACTERRRRRRRRRRR 💖💖

I WANT LANDRY AND KENJI NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW, WTF WHY IS THEIR BOOK, BOOK 5!?!?!? 😫😫😫

Prince of Lies is book one in The Billionaire Brotherhood series by Lucy Lennox. Wow! I admit that I didn’t pay much attention to this book when it first came out but then my best book buddies read it and said there would be no arguing, I needed to read it right now. And they were right! I loved this so much!

Rowe Prince is twenty four years old. Rowe lives in a tiny town in Indiana but has come to New York City to try to get a life saving invention he has been working for years on off the ground. It’s his big, last ditch effort at a gala wearing a name tag with the name Sterling Chase on it, that his life takes a direction he could never have imagined!

Sebastian ‘Bash’ Dayne is thirty years old and is one of the founders of the company that Rowe is pretending to own! Their first meeting is so cute. And he knows from the first moment that Rowe is not who he says he is. But does that deter him from wanting to get to know this man? Does it discourage him from being ridiculously attracted to him? No and No! What he sees is a man who is sweet, sexy, funny, awkward, and a terrible liar. And all he wants is to be close to him. The closer the better.

“Every word out of his mouth, every second in his presence, made me feel alive. Like the world was filled with more possibility than I’d ever let myself recognize.”

What did I love about this book? EVERYTHING! These are the kinds of characters I always hope for. And they were so perfect for each other. This is one of those books that just makes your heart all happy! I am so thankful my friends strongly urged (forced) me to read this and now I can’t wait to start the second book, Marrying Mr. Majestic! Which I will be doing momentarily!!!

No one is more surprised than me to see these 5 stars here, because, honestly, Lucy Lennox hasn’t really worked for me in… a while.

But this? Utterly delightful. Hilarious. Silly. The perfect escapism.

God, I needed this.
This book was just so damn funny, especially in the beginning. The gala scenes with the poster surfing and the magician’s tux?! I genuinely couldn’t stop laughing!

I also absolutely adored our two MCs.
Rowe was the most adorable, naive, honest, authentic and WORST AND FUNNIEST LIAR in existence and I wanted to wrap him in a blanket and protect him from all evil in this world.

Bash was pure swoon material - charming, confident, protective, easy going and exactly what Rowe needed. Their dynamic was just, ugh… so good. And even though it was kinda insta, it didn’t bother me as much because we still got a lot of relationship development!

I utterly adored every single character of The Brotherhood but after checking out the blurbs for the other books in the series, I have to admit they didn’t really grab me. Am I missing out on skipping these?

However, Kenji’s book (coming out this month!)? That blurb sounds wild, and I am definitely looking forward to his and Landry’s story 💕

this was so fun!

Prince of Lies has that ridiculously unserious humour that I love. It had me giggling and full out laughing multiple times. It didn't overshadow the rest of the book. Our romance between Rowe and Bash was so cute. The plot was interesting and the emotional beats hit.

November 2025 Re-read
It's interesting looking back at my original review that I picked this up after a string of heavy books because this time I decided to re-read it after a series of disappointments and DNFs, and it still hit the spot. It's cute, silly, and simply the perfect thing to turn your brain off and let it reset. It worked last time, and it worked this time. Good vibes were achieved 😌

I read this the first time around, but I was able to pick it up on audio for the re-read. Michael Dean did a great job bringing the boys to life.

Back when I originally read this, I mentioned wanting Kenji and Landry to get their own story, and now they do! 🥳 So I'm off to casually skip all the books in the middle of the series just to get to theirs at the end 😂

Original Review
This was one of the most adorable, fluffy, saccharine sweet things I have ever read. It was ridiculously OTT and full of all the tropes, but you know what? I LOVED IT. It was the perfect palate cleanser after the string of heavy books I've read recently. This was instalove done well. Rowe and Bash were practically shooting heart eyes at each other from the moment they bumped into one another. The story was ridiculous and silly and fun. Simply overlook the plausibility of everything going on and let the warm fuzzies wash over you. 😌 This is an easy, nice, go-to feel good book. I'm not sure what else is planned with these characters, but I really hope that we get Kenji and Landry's story because I am ready for that heat!!! 🔥

In honor of Silas's book coming out tomorrow I had to do a reread of this beauty! And it didn't disappoint. Rowe and Bash's adventures were great, while Austin sucked. haha I hope all of the brotherhood have books in the works!!

Original Read/Listen: February 2023

Book: 4-4.5 stars

Yes. Just yes. Haha

All the characters were awesome and hope they have stories of their own, all the brotherhood, Joey and Sandwich Shark (yes there is a bonus scene, but let’s get real we need more Joey)!

I could tell who the “bad guy” was by about 50%..that’s when everything started to click in to place. Even with that, this book kept me entertained and hooked from page one! I loved that there was no old annoying lady, I mean there was one.. kinda but she wasn’t in the book too much 🙌🏼

Overall a great read I will definitely pick up again in the future and 🤞🏼 for more books with the brotherhood!!

I absolutely LOVED this, it made my eyes leak from laughing and crying!

This is a 'quirky' absolutely nuts story where you could see what was coming from a mile off, but I couldn't put it down until I was finished.

Rowe/Sterling was just so funny, the whole book was completely my sense of humour, and Bash was so cute! The side characters all felt like real people too, I'm super intrigued by Joey and the sandwich shark🤔

I'm definitely excited for more stories from the brotherhood!

I’ve rarely laughed and swooned as much as I did while reading this book

Is it realistic? No. Is it OTT? Yes. Did I care? Not one bit.

Because sometimes all you need is a bit of laughter and swoon to take your mind away from real life, and if we’re honest with ourselves, that’s the main reason we read these books.

I almost felt like watching one of those hilarious 80s romcoms, even including a big, cheesy showdown where the audience stand up and claps.

It’s the story of Rowe, who has a dream: he wants to pitch his product idea to an investor, and to do so (and after several rejections) he decides to show up at a charity gala with a stolen invitation, and wearing his cousin’s magician tux. He claims to be a reclusive billionaire, but sadly (or luckily) he (literally) crashes into one of the few people who know for a fact that said billionaire doesn’t exist.

Sebastian/Bash is restless and bored, so when this curly mess of a man with rabbits on his bow tie crashes into him and immediately starts lying (badly, I might mention), he’s not only attracted, but intrigued, too.

And so it begins.

What I loved: characters who are able to laugh at themselves and the situations they find themselves in.

”The woman beside me darted a look up at my sombrero—which was taking up a significant amount of space—before quickly glancing away. “I brought burritos,” I explained. I carried a watermelon.”

Yes, it’s not really a surprise who the baddie is who adds a bit of a storyline, but who cares? All the characters are nicely fleshed out, even Bash’s friends (who - hopefully - will get their own books). And keep in mind that I usually don’t like first books in series because the secondary characters tend to be a bit much and confusing, but here, it’s well done and entertaining.

”I swallowed. “I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to see this through.” “Good.” Bash gripped my jaw in both of his hands and pressed a slow, gentle kiss to my lips. “Because if you run from me again, Rowe, I’ll come after you.”

5 stars, because I couldn’t rate it with less after all these hours I spent laughing and not being able to put it down.

“I’m going to kiss this man, I promised myself. Somehow, some way. He is going to be my first real kiss.”

That was so ridiculously cute! It’s perfect for those times when you need a mood booster. Sure it’s over the top and absurd but did I care? Nuh-uh! It’s hilarious, schmoopy, feel good and hot.

So excellent.

This had no business being this good, just looking all unassuming with it’s typical cover and blurb among hundreds of others.

Rowe has an incredible idea that he knows can save lives, he just needs the right person to hear about it, so when his cousin finds him a ticket to a society gala full of influential people, he decides to put his nerves aside, take the chance and pretend to be Sterling Chase-the name on the ticket. The only problem? He cannot lie to save his life.

Pretty standard stuff, right?

I expected this to be tedious and frustrating-but fortunately the love interest knows Rowe is lying and decides to toy with him for his own (and our) amusement.

You know how people often complain that a book tells rather than shows? No-one can complain about that here.

There is so much dialogue and banter between these two that you can really see how they fall in love with each other, they just get along so bloody well and their chemistry is magnetic.

I loved Daisy and how her voice lived on in Rowes head.

If you had told me before hand that there is a whole lot of drama surrounding intellectual property theft I would have said “NOPE”. Thank goodness I didn’t know this because I would have missed out. I loved this part of the story, our heroes and their friends coming together against a common enemy. No third act break up bullshit. Not shitty epilogue proposal (I usually hate epilogues but I loved this one).

I was supposed to buddy read this next week, but I decided to play the first 30 mins on Audible while I did a boring task and had nothing else downloaded. Whoops, I ended up cleaning the house from top to bottom with pleasure and completely left my buddy behind. Some buddy I am!!!

3.5 stars - This was lighthearted and fun in a very Lucy Lennox kind of way. I've probably used the word "shenanigans" in every review I've written for her books because she's got physical humor, playfulness and second hand embarrassment down to an art.

Rowe was such a delightfully horrible liar. When I saw that the premise was people acting like someone they weren't, I got nervous because Hello Predictable Drama, but Rowe's ruse was so bad that I immediately brushed off those worries. I loved that Bash played along, but that it was never done maliciously or to catch Rowe out. Their relationship turned into something very sweet and supportive and I loved that Rowe not only got his fairy tale ending with Bash, but that he also got some pretty interesting brothers too. I'm definitely looking forward to all of those guys getting their own books (speak it into existence!).

I wasn't a huge fan of the insta-love or the short time frame this story worked within, but those are also things I've learned to associate with this author. Those aspects combined with the whole business storyline gave the book a very Hallmark, rom-com feel that I don't think I was in the right mood for, which is why it wasn't a 5 star read for me.

I decided a while ago that Lucy Lennox and I don't fit. But I then saw this book EVERYWHERE.

So I thought, eh, why not.

And I'm so glad I gave it a chance. This book was absolutely wonderful! It was just so funny, and sweet, and heartwarming. It all seemed to just fit.

I'm definitely going to read this again soon.

4.5⭐️ - If you’re a fan of Lucy’s books, then you’ll love this one. It’s over the top quirky, with moments of hilarious cringe, and lots of sweet emotions.

While not very spicy, the connection between Bash and Rowe is absolutely wonderful! They are so different but also very similar. Bash comes from a world of wealth, while Rowe was from much more humble surroundings. They were both so loyal to those they loved and were always willing to go the extra mile for what they believed in. They were also both so kind and generous. This is a bit insta-love but I really loved that for these characters. The plot moved at a good pace as I didn’t feel it dragged at any point.

I loved how Lucy set up the rest of this series in a way that get organic and aided in the plot. I am excited for the rest of their stories!!

3.75 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was so f-cking cute! Perfect amounts of OTT schmoopyness that were fun but didn’t give me a sugar overdose. Bash and Rowe were both very likeable characters. Sometimes with these types of books the MC’s voices are indistinguishable from each other, but I felt these two were very distinct people in their own right. I also loved the Brotherhood and am looking forward to each of their forthcoming stories. The plot was completely ridiculous but it worked because it played on that fact that it knew how crazy it all was. It also managed to surprise me with certain turns of events which kept things interesting. A great comfort read and I wish I had the rest of the series right now 🥰

PS - Special shout-out to Joey and Sandwich Shark 🫶🏼

“I trusted Rowe. Trusted him with my secrets. With my company. With my heart. And just like the first night we’d met, every cell of my body hummed with energy, waiting to see what lie he came up with next.”

I've always firmly believed that it's impossible to build a healthy loving relationship built on lies, but Prince of Lies proved me wrong in the most delightful and lovable ways, I was just. This, honestly, as unbelievably unrealistic and over-the-top situations that it was, I devoured it heartily. It might be viewed as a downside to read the latest works of an author already well-established in the MM Romance genre, but Lucy Lennox shined in this what I hope will be an eventual series' first installment. 😍😍

Rowe Prince has the hopeful dream to have his idea for an app to be accepted by a group of investors. Unfortunately, he's met with rejection at each step - down on his luck, he attends a charity gala, wearing a tux (loaned to him by his cousin) that claims that he's the reclusive billionaire, Sterling Chase, the very owner of the company he's hoping to pitch his idea to. It's under this guise of mistaken identity, that he literally falls into the arms of one Sebastian (Bash to his friends) Dayne, the true face behind the name Sterling Chase. Captivated by the extent of his innocent lies (Hah!) Bash gets drawn into Rowe's life, as he falls head over heels in love with our charming Prince of Lies.

This was an absolutely adorable delightful read with so many swoon-worthy sexy times and hilarious moments! Their instant chemistry may be a tad unrealistic, but I didn't mind in the slightest, because sometimes you just need to go along for the ride of love! 💕💕💕💕 It was so precious and sweet how Rowe and Bash fit so comfortably into each other's lives, like they were destined soulmates who didn't even know that this was the person they were waiting for.

And Rowe is a precious sweetheart that needs to be protected at all costs - even when he didn't shy from jumping right in to save the day, because he could! Did I silently cheer at the HEA that Rowe deserved at the high point of his fairy-tale lie? Yes, I did! 🥰🥰 His cheery personality and lovable remarks were a perfect balance to the stoic confidence Bash brought to their relationship. I cackled at calling Bash old at 30! Yep, at 24 years of age, he may feel young, but they worked so well together, I could read so much content of their love blossoming into something so much more.

I also loved how diverse each of Bash's group of friends - Kenji, Landry, Silas, Dev and Zane - were personality-wise; they each brought such a fresh spark to Bash and Rowe's dynamic. I loved how Rowe was introduced to each of them in different ways and how he so subtly but surely won them over with his kindness and how he lit up Bash's life. And then seeing them all team up in the group chats to cheer and champion their relationship forward made me giddy with happiness.

Their strong sense of camaraderie showed how close they are as friends. I DID read the blurb featuring Rowe's cousin, Joey, with the Sandwich Shark, but here's hoping that the next book will ACTUALLY feature Kenji and Landry, instead. Definitely sensed some strong denial vibes there, so I'm so so curious to see where that goes. 👀

I'm gonna look back reading this with a fond content feeling - like floating on a cloud of happiness, where, despite the odds, both parties want and choose to be together, because sometimes, some things are just meant to be. 😊

“But less than twenty-four hours later, I realized I’d become a bigger liar than Rowe Prince ever was. Because when I had to choose between Sterling Chase and… Sterling Chase, there was hands down no question which I’d choose.

My Prince of Lies would win every time.”

Sterling Chase, you will forever be famous - welcome to the club. ❣️❣️

As a long-time fan of Lucy Lennox, I get a thrill whenever she has something new, and Prince of Lies is no exception. This is Lucy at her suspend-your-disbelief, relax-and-trust-me best.

Sure, there's nothing remotely plausible about most of the story but who cares? It's sweet, well-written, sexy escapist fiction, and I loved it. It's funny without being over-the-top (much), and the chemistry between Rowe and Bash is electric. Overall, a fun read!

Lucy Lennox has been hit or miss for me lately and I almost gave up on this book. The "meet cute" wasn't all that cute for me. I found the whole thing cringy instead of hilarious. I didn't get a single laugh out of it, but at about 30%, when the whole "liar" thing ended the story definitely picked up for me. Although you need to firmly suspend disbelief, I wound up enjoying the story and romance in the end.

"I'd never considered what it felt like when Cinderella crashed back to Earth after her one brilliant night of dancing. Of how much more terrible it felt to put your rags back on when you knew for a fact how amazing the life just out of your reach could be."

This was such a freaking delight. It was utterly hilarious and dare I say outright ridiculous at times, but I couldn't wipe the smile off my face the entire time reading it. Even now I'm catching myself smirking at the memory of different parts of the book. I have so many highlights and I just finished reading this book and couldn't help but gush about it a little. I read it in one sitting. I couldn't stop. I had to know what over the top hilarity was going to happen next!

"Years from now, when Bash had forgotten all about the time he fucked the Burrito Bandito, I'd still be savoring this moment."

The romance was whirlwind and began as a heap of lies, but truths streaked through. Almost like they couldn't help themselves. They wanted the other person to know the real them, if only a glimpse. The Brotherhood are absolutely nuts but I adored the hell out of them. They were like a start of a joke. A thrill seeker, a horse trainer, an uptight businessman, a rock star, and a dilettante walk into a bar... And I adored them even more by the end with the way they welcomed Rowe and gave him a sense of that type of familial bond again. I may be off, but I thought I was def getting vibes between a certain PA and the manwhore of the group. Lennox is still being tight lipped about the next MCs so we won't know for sure quite yet. What I do know for sure is that I'll be reading it.
