Twilight is on the ropes after his battle with an Ostanian spy! Can Nightfall save Twilight from disaster? Will WISE manage to recover their stolen secrets? And what will become of Loid and Yor’s marital crisis? Meanwhile, Anya’s friendship scheme gets thrown off by an unexpected gift from Damian!
I missed all my dumdums so much!! Anya and Becky never seize to make me laugh. Loid and Yor's little moment together was all that I needed. Mr. Endo please create more moments like that. T_T I love Yor and Melinda's friendship. I do hope the latter's actions are genuine though. The Authens couple were adorable and delightful. Also, am I sensing a new potential couple alert? I think I do.
It never crossed my mind that Yor's work colleagues would be on a volume cover, even though it should have. I'm loving it, though.
My wish for Ch 93: Let Anya score well in next chapter please 🤞😩❤️ she worked hard for this!! Update ch 93: Stella+ Tonitrus- balanced as all things should be?!
Also loid asking Anya about her past?? He's suspicious but I loved how he didn't stress on that thing for her sake. I have a feeling he's going to dig in her past and we might get Anya's backstory!
Nightfall gets a good spotlight moment in the resolution of last volume's exciting cliffhanger, but then the rest of the book flatlines as we spend too much time first with Anya and Damian, then a new set of neighbors, and also Yor's coworkers.
Is there anything more fun than reading a new Spy X Family book? This one delivers all the silly laughs you’d expect AND introduces some great new characters. Unsurprisingly, it was awesome.
And we are back to the manga I love! And this introduces the new neighbors. An elderly couple that is absolutely adorable and are even making cookies and tutoring Anya. This girl needs it!
The moments with the Forgers are continually the best part of this series. I am getting a little burned out on the amount of page count spent on the "fake relationships" in this series compared to the Forger family content.
I think now the author should start revealing to the family members their profession and then coming to an understanding and or however the author has planned.. coz I am kinda tired of the shenanigans..
Whatever my concerns are, there is no denying that Spy x Family is incredibly funny when it wants to be. Whether down to translation or original text, the phrase ‘booger constrictor’ made me laugh very hard, coupled with a perfect reaction afterwards.
Some of the best moments this volume are when it doubles down on its silliness, turning a good joke into something better. Yor’s brother practicing Yor Fu is a decent gag (even if I think it may violate a statute of limitations on Street Fighter II jokes). When some random mook recognizes him as a practitioner of Yor Fu, though? That’s just genius.
Even the increasingly annoying Nightfall manages to become the source of a decent moment when she pushes herself beyond the boundaries of human endurance over Loid and the story milks it for all it’s worth.
My frustration comes from trying to meld the very satisfying comedy with the dead serious spy caper. It’s not something the series has done well and has become increasingly noticeable as the narrative seems content to spin its wheels.
I mean, I don’t blame them. Anya steals the story constantly so it makes sense to focus on her. Her troubles with studying or her imaginary love life that’s built entirely on tea cakes are fodder for some of the best parts of this volume.
But then you have people getting shot, tales from the class struggle, a deadly serious moment about losing loved ones to conflict, and Franky talking through some very believable PTSD.
Also they throw water on the dog to make him look like a giraffe. Dramatic comedies exist, but, for all it does well, I don’t think this series knows how to mesh its two aspects together very well.
Which is my usual complaint, so go ahead and ignore it if you’re having fun. It’s just one of those things that grates at me. I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t a massive upgrade from last volume and my score will reflect that.
4 stars - as promised. Some welcome laughs that land really hard bump this up, I can’t be giving it less than four stars if I laughed that hard at something, even if it has the same issues along with the usual characters that are dead boring.
Never ever failed to lift up my mood!!! all the characters are super entertaining… but Anya and Damian’s story will always be my fav part in every book including in this one😍😍
All the episode in this book are super fun and funny i just couldn’t stop laughing
Plussssss bonus point for Indonesian translator, using some Indo pun and jokes enhanced the reading experience! love it! 😍❤️
this volume felt like hanging out with an old friend who somehow got even more chaotic and loveable when i wasn't looking. i know some people are getting bored with this series, but i just love coming back to these characters.
A Vol. in which most of the chapters were very good, the dynamic between Anya and Damian is always hilarious and fresh and it's because Anya is very funny, spontaneous and witty, the chapter about Yor and her coworkers pleasantly surprised me , and like Loid, the new neighbors intrigue me but I don't think they are spies, this Vol. would be perfect if Yuri had not appeared, all his stories seem very boring to me, the only good thing is that he is already beginning to suspect about Twilight, the guy alone it took like 80 chapters for that.
