Ready To Cash Out

Rate this book
Trevanion Usher's mother had always told him that beauty faded but stupid was forever, so he aimed high and set out to be beautiful for as long as he could and only let people think he was stupid.

Since her passing, he's managed to navigate the perils of Perry City, a dangerous metropolis run by the mob and oozing with corruption. His sharp wits, good looks, and absolute lack of shame have served him well, and he's almost ready to escape and start over somewhere with a tropical climate. When his landlord calls in a favor, Trev is suspicious but jumps at the chance to score big in exchange for one night of work.

Naturally, that's when everything goes wrong.

Jupiter Prospero is a member of the city's ruling mob family and he's interested in sharing much more than Trev's company for the evening. He's gorgeous, powerful, and has secrets to reveal—like Trev's relation to a powerful gangster in the city of Strassen Springs.

Trev finds himself trapped as an unwilling pawn in a deadly game between two long feuding criminal families and he'll have to use all of his skills to survive, but does he stand a chance against Jupiter's devastating charms?

Or will he succumb to even darker forces before he has a chance to cash out?

I feel like I had alll of the free time since my currently-borrowed-ARCs weren't due for weeks...weeks have past. Its the end of July. Here's to me speed-reading (which, frankly, I'm great at). Here's K.L. Hier's "Ready To Cash Out."

I gotta say, I looooove me some mafia dark romances. They're glorious. So much drama and steam and hidden fluff and "touch him and die" and twists and secrets and plotting. Beautiful.

As were Trev and Jupiter. Beautiful. Dramatic. Glorious. Dark.

Jupiter, I'm pretty sure, was gooooone from the first moment he met Trev. Trev was gone lust-wise at first sight as well, but it took him and his damaged heart to accept that there was more between them than the enemies-with-benefits situation they had going on.

There were so many bad people and so many bad people that were good (and don't get me started on the good people that were bad OR the crazy people that were once bad but now are (sometimes) good). So many people, so many stories, so many moments to really test your lack-of-trust, but Trev (and Jupiter) eventually got their HEA...eventually.

And now I have to add the Cold Hard Cash series to my TBR list, because I neeeeeed to know how Jimmy make Cold fall that hard.

Trigger Warnings: violence, kidnapping, murder, temporary character death, and more.

This was a new author to me, but the book sounded intriguing so I went for it. Unable to put it down, I read it in one sitting. It was good, but a bit weird to me, but the interesting and engaging characters kept me going to find out how Trev would get out of his predicaments. He was a feisty character, never backing down, giving at least as much as he got, and more most of the time. By all rights, his mouth should have gotten him killed more than once — this guy has at least 9 lives. He is fiercely independent, constantly wants to be in control (it’s how he’s survived so long), and his biggest battles are with Jupiter, who doesn’t give up control easily, either. The chemistry between them was instantaneous and strong, neither would give quarter, and the sex was smokin’ hot. Jupiter was a perfect match for Trev, understood him, protected him, and finally earned his trust and heart.

The book is almost two in one as there is the kidnapping by the Luchesi family and Trev and Jupiter’s survival, then the kidnapping and interactions with Cold Boss and Trev’s half siblings plus others. The battles for control and the not backing down was strong in this situation, too, earning Trev some respect from Cold Boss.

This book was interesting with lots of action, great world building with the two mafia families, had varied and interesting characters, many of them complex with a mix of good and bad in them, while others had few redeeming qualities. Lots of twists and turns and a mystery to be solved, too. It was a wild ride, but basically an enjoyable one. I am curious about those characters with Cold Boss, so will need to check out that series in the future. Overall, I would recommend this book if you like strong, morally gray characters, a little on the zany side, and really hot sex.
I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

Trev has been by himself for a while now. After the passing of his mother, he needs to learn how to make money fast and having a decent amount of it. So he did the only thing he could do dropped out of high school and became escort. He lonely with no family around him, until one night changes everything. He gets kidnapped by rival mafia because he has a brother. When he meets Jupiter things change between them. What I like Trev He makes people believe he’s dumb in order to survive. He is also a lonely person that doesn’t want to give up control. The thing I like the most about him is now he expressing feelings and letting people in. His character is confident, sassy, and bold . Jupiter is not like his family. He struggles being himself because he is gay in mafia family and the family doesn’t like him. I like that excepts Trev for who he is. Also like Jupiter it’s finally going to be himself after so long. Now that he’s finally himself, he can find his own path in life. The two together are funny. They fight over control of one another. They have so many great spicy scenes throughout the book. What I like about these two together is the fight each other, and they accept each other and their flaws. I like that, after a little while they have amazing trust and communication. The book is funny, with Juicy and his imaginary dog. I also like that in this book, you get to see all the other characters that K. L. H have written.

When I started reading Ready to Cash Out I did not realise it was part of the Cold Universe. Once I had this realization, I was even more excited for this story. I typically do not like single POV stories but K.L. Hiers’ books seem to be the exception. I loved seeing glimpses of the characters of the Cold universe like Jimmy, Rowena and the Gentlemen.

He wanted to belong to Jupiter in a way he’d never felt before, one that his soul yearned for and simultaneously rallied against. He had never needed anyone and swore that he wouldn’t start now, but he couldn’t escape how his body craved Jupiter like he was the very air he needed to breathe.

Trev is a spitfire of a character – I absolutely loved his take no shit attitude. Trev and Juniper both do not trust easily, but somehow along the way the trust grows between them. They had an instant attraction and pull towards each other. There is no denying that Trev’s and Juniper’s chemistry was HOT. I loved how they fought for dominance. I loved seeing the moments of rare vulnerability from Trev. There was a perfect balance of plot with some twists along the way, engaging characters that love to banter, and spicy times.

I always thought it was strange, but it's just sort of something organized crime enjoys. Witnesses. Taunting. Long, meandering speeches.

4.5 stars

I have enjoyed all of Hiers other "Cash World" books, and this one gets added to the list. The overall plot and pacing are good with a couple nice twists as well! Trev and Jupiter are engaging characters, the spice be spicing, and there's good plot resolution too! And don't worry, the LeGrand Gentlemen will not monologue at you... so there's that! Their enemies might though. :P

Trev and Jupiter are insta attraction, let's bone it out to distract/ it's all part of the plan vibes yet they are undeniably drawn to each other (and not just cause of wall chains! iykyk). Neither of them are easy to trust or be vulnerable, but for some reason comfortable with each other. And they actively choose each other. Over and over again. Sometimes violent, but charming!?

I loved the chaotic found family that is the LeGrand Gentlemen organization and getting to see those characters again was a delight!

A Joyfully Jay review.

This story takes place in the same universe as K.L. Hiers’ Cold Hard Cash series, but is in itself a standalone. While Cold, Jimmy, and the Gentlemen show up, Trev isn’t exactly interested in getting to know them. He has his mind on two things: Jupiter and getting gone. So, even having no idea about Cold or any of the other characters, you can easily read this without having read the other books. However, I have read the Cold Hard Cash series and enjoyed the books, and this left me really on the fence with this story.

The parts of the book that worked for me weren’t the parts that the story focused on; I didn’t care for the romance, though it’s nice to see Trev get his arm candy. I found the world building to be flat, and the introduction of the various Gentlemen and Jimmy — who I have enjoyed more in previous books — was so rushed, with everyone feeling too two dimensional. But Trev and Cash had a spark. They’re the best part of this book.

Standalone set in the author’s Cold Hard Cash universe. Adversaries to lovers. Found family. Single POV.

Hustling for a living, Trev is smart and beautiful and he owns it. So when a lucrative hookup is offered, of course he wants to add to his nest egg, not realizing that he will end up a pawn in a mafia conflict. I loved everything about Trev, his intelligence, his bravado, his smart mouth, and his confidence, and it’s easy to see why Jupiter falls for him almost immediately.

Trev doesn’t need anyone to take care of him and Jupiter quickly appreciates everything about Trev, and Jupiter is just the right amount of caring, strength of character to match Trev’s independence. I do wish there was more about Jupiter’s background and discussion between them, but all of their push/pull and super steamy interactions kept me invested in their growing feelings for each other. There is tons of action, banter, fun side characters (with cameos), and two men that end up trusting each other with hopes of ending up on a tropical beach together somewhere. 4.5 rounded up

This was so good!! Ready to Cash Out is the story of Trevanion (Trev) and Jupiter. Trev is the sassiest twink I think I've ever read about, he just oozes confidence, humor and charm. Jupiter is a member of a mafia family. Trev has been on his own for a bit, and has become an escort. He gets an opportunity from his landlord for a night with someone that would pay him extremely well; but when he gets there, learns he is being kidnapped by Jupiter for reasons not entirely clear.

These two had a unique chemistry to me, Jupiter seemed to be the more laid back one while Trev was always giving someone some kind of attitude. The spice in this story starts from the very beginning, and in my opinion, got better each time. I really enjoyed seeing Trev give in a little to Jupiter, while Jupiter seemed to be pretty ensnared from the beginning. They are both very strong characters, but the author still managed to mesh them well. I will admit, at times I felt like there were a few too many side characters to keep track of (and alot of them had names starting with J).

WOW...So yeah... I really didn't read the blurb prior to reading. I love KL Hiers mafia romances so it really didn't matter to me...I was gonna read regardless...**HUGE FAN** To say I was thrilled how this book is interconnected with Boss Cold is a major understatement. I got so wrapped up when I started it, that I was almost late for work...it was sooooo freaking good. This is not for the faint-hearted...fair warning...most of the characters are like Trev...not the fluffy type...pure gangster...Anywho... I love Trev and his sexy as fudge mafia partner Jupiter. Trev is so unapologetic...so bossy with extra sass that you can't help but root and cheer him on in his quest for happiness and freedom. All the craziness, HOT sexiness, humor, mayhem and murder that happened along the way kept this an enjoyable ride til the very end. I freaking LOVED it. As always Kat brought her A game and absolutely won:).

Trev has done just fine surviving in a tough city. He has cultivated his beauty and his ability to use it to get people to make assumptions that work in his favor. He is kidnapped by Jupiter because of his association with another known gangster but when they 'get together' their attraction for one another is instant. Jupiter is a good match for Trev and respects the fact that Trev feels he can take care of himself. But Jupiter is a good partner for Trev as he navigates the new situations that he finds himself in given his found out association with Boss Cold. This was a good story and it was easy to root for Trev and for him and Jupiter even given the circles they travel in.

More people around Cash should be the title

I love the book Cold Hard Cash by this author and Cash shows up as do various other characters from that book, but you really don’t need to read that one first except that certain surprises will be revealed. So on second thought read the other book first because Cold Hard Cash is in my opinion one of the best MM mafia romances I’ve read.
Sorry, back to this one which is a great sequel with love found for two characters Trev and Jupiter, more mob upheaval, confusion, found family, real family and so much more.
KL Hiers fills this book with some absolutely zany humor especially in the form of a neighbor with a “dog” sorry but you really need to read this book for that one. Trust me it’s great!

Trev is kidnapped by Jupiter of the Luchesi gang and told he is Boss Cold's brother. Jupiter has his way with him as they await Boss Cold's decision. There are great moments with Cold, Jimmy and the Gentlemen, not to mention Rowena. Trev is fiercely independent but totally crazy for Jupiter and Jupiter lets him feel in control. It was a long awaited continuance for Cold and Jimmy but totally Trev's book. Well worth the wait... though a little Jimmy/Cold action would not have been hated. It did play up Cold's broodiness and established a family bond. I'm just enjoying my pleasure at revisiting that world.

Trev is a skilful man and when he finds his life in an upheaval one night due to Jupiter, he knows he will use his willpower to succeed.
Being used as a pawn between rivals, Trev finds himself drawn to the man who has captured him and as secrets and truths are revealed both he and Jupiter come to realise that he was more than a pawn all along.

A story that has familiar characters in it, sizzling chemistry between the characters and an engaging storyline that keeps you entertained. An absolute treat to indulge in the Cash world again.

Chains and Collars are for Kidnapping?

Plot: Kidnapping, gangster shenanigans, insta-lust into insta-love, chains and collars, long-lost brother
Feels: Holy heart-palpitations around the 80% mark
Drama: Not really
Heat: 4/5
Characters: Trev is super sassy and takes no prisoners, especially with Boss Cold when he wants to go get his Jupiter and Jupiter is pretty adorable for Trev. Boss Cold, Jimmy and Rowena rejoins the cast as well as the Gentleman! Juicy and Barkie added to the fun.
Pacing: Medium
Length: Longer
Ending: HEA, but hoping for a future family reunion!

Loved the Cold Hard Cash series and loved this additional story! What a brilliant character Trev is, I really admired his attitude! Great relationship development between him and Juniper which was paced perfectly so you could bond with them as you followed their story. An instant attraction eventually grows to more as they learn to trust each other. This as well as a rollercoaster of a plot with plenty of twists and turns kept me completely engrossed until the end! Highly recommend

I absolutely adored Trev in this book. The way he took his mother's saying and used a kind of twisted interpretation of it to build a life for himself in the dangerous world he lives in was wonderful. He does a great job of fooling most people, but Jupiter turns out to be his match and these two see each other in ways no one else does. They have to fight to be together and the warring mob families with all their scheming members were used to great effect. I was never quite sure where the plot might twist and turn next and who would turn out to be trustworthy and who a snake in the grass.

K.L Hiers has written some of my favorite stories set in Boss Cold’s universe, so I was really excited to see Ready to Cash Out. Trev finds himself in the middle of a mob war when the Luchesis kidnap him and tell him he is Boss Cold’s half-brother. They plan to use him to have leverage over Strassen Springs and Boss Cold. I loved seeing all of my favorites again. Boss was such a jerk at the beginning and refused to let Trev know anything. It reminded me so much of how he treated Jimmy in book 2. I could easily see why Trev was so annoyed. Jupiter and Trev were freaking hot together and I loved how they both fought for dominance. There was more to Trev than meets the eye and I loved that about him. I cannot wait to go back to this world because I refuse to believe that this is the last we see of everyone.

This world that KL Hiers has created is absolutely amazing and Trevanion Usher is trying to figure out how he got pulled in. The tension between him and Jasper was immediately apparent and their journey was filled with danger, intrigue and a whole lotta heat. Boss Cold, Jimmy and the merry band of Gentlemen make their reappearance and it made for a snarky, funny and suspenseful good time! Awesome story and so incredibly well written - freaking fantastic!

The book cover is delicious as is this incredible story…
Trevanion Usher is beautiful his life is not!
As a hustler with a marvellous quick wit, he sees opportunities and takes them.

Jupiter is, a mafia thug with a soft heart especially for Trevanion, Jupiter gives Trevanion what he needs but it’s not an easygoing connection!
Much push and pull between them plus a lot of conflict between many.
I adore this world of Hard Cash universe.
Boss Cold and Jimmy I adore.
Such wonderful humour, extremely steamy added with the attitude that comes from Trevanion.
So very easy to read and devour….

I loved Trev and Jupiter. Trev thought he could get himself out of anything because of his looks. His landlord asked him a huge favor. Trev thought he saw the boss get killed. Trev got feelings for Jupiter and the other mafia was after them until they screwed up and the boss showed up and revealed himself to be alive

Trev and Jupiter’s story is a welcome addition to the Cold universe, and in a world full of vibrant and memorable characters these two both more than hold their own. There’s chemistry, character, and a storyline that lets both of those elements shine. An enjoyable read.

He wants out of his life to go to a tropical island away from everything and everyone. He pretends he is stupid while his brains work hard and he is about to take one more job before leaving. He is going to be in a shock when he ends up in the middle of battle. What is going to happen? How will they get on? Can he get his escape? See how he gets on

This book was amusing as hell (I loled), but I honestly don't want to stick around for the journey to find out what's going to happen. Trev is so driven by sex, even with someone who was rude af to him that it just became unsavory. That kinda shit only works for K.A. Merikan.
