Go behind the runway as syle icon Nami stars in a life-changing fashion show, observe wise Robin as she helps to decipher an ancient tablet with Koala and Sabo, watch as solemn Princess Vivi receives a love letter from an unexpected admirer, and check out Ghost Princess Perona’s battle over the last bottle of wine with Zolo and Mihawk!
Any One Piece book that brings back Vivi is a good One Piece book, even if the Vivi story was more like a Koza story. Still, this was fun, and I particularly like the illustrations - the reminded me of Veil's art.
PEAK. FICTION. SORRY I LOVE MY GIRLIES SO MUCH. this is just so fucking girlie pop and i love that this is a thing. all the stories felt so them but my fav was peronas LIKE YEAH GIRL I WANNA GET WINE DRUNK AND MAKE SANGRINA. but all the stories and the art work?? PERFECT.
So, this is a fun collection of short, standalone stories about some of the main, more popular female characters in One Piece.
Nami, Robin, Princess Vivi, and Perona each get their own story and each vignette revolves around a minor quest of the featured heroine.
All of the quests are seemingly simple, low stakes things—I.e. shoe shopping or attaining the last bottle of washed up wine.
But, every story ends on a note clearly intended to make readers consider or reflect on some quality or aspect of the main character. As expected.
These stories really paint each heroine in the nicest light, right?
Nami is shown to be strong and fiercely independent. Robin is diligent and encouraging. Princess Vivi is kind and gentle with her people. Perona is determined and learning to appreciate what it means to have friends. (And I do so love my little goth found family there. Anyway.)
It’s sweet.
I guess it makes up for the egregious over-sexualization of female characters in One Piece and how little time most of them got to be strong, capable and powerful characters in their own rights for most of the series?
No hate.
I love One Piece and Oda. But, come on. There’s no GOOD reason for any female character in the series to look the way they do. Those proportions? Criminal.
Anyway.
For what this is, I like it.
There’s really nothing that will keep me from reading a One Piece series. If you’re also a fan at this point, I assume you feel the same~
This was a cute short story collection. I personally loved Robin's since we got to see her time with the Revolutionary Army a bit, but I am also extremely biased.
This was so much fun and definitely shone a light on some of the heroines of One Piece! The first story with Nami was sweet, I love a girl's girl. Robin's story was amusing, as she's my favourite I'm biased, but really enjoyed this particular story where she helps Sabo and Koala of the Revolutionary Army with some translations, I love how smart Robin is. Vivi's story was also cute, but probably my least favourite. Perona's story actually ended up being my favourite, the interactions with her, Mihawk and Zoro were so sweet and found family, Perona is so me with the cocoa addiction, and Zoro's becoming one of my favourite Straw Hats in the anime currently, so I particularly enjoyed having him in there.
Overall, simple yet heartwarming, and a great focus for some of the main women of One Piece!
Volume 1 has four stories centering around Nami, Robin, Vivi, and Perona.
Enjoyed all the stories, but Perona’s chapter was my favorite. Def a must read for Zoro fans to get extra goth fam trio content during the time skip ^^ also.. Zoro makes a dish that is inspired by Sanji and that had me squealing!! >o< The Nami chapter was fun too ~
I love the way each of the stories in these Heroine volumes read like little fanfics!
Went to Kino for a book that was sold out left with this gem I didnt even know exists. Did not expect much saw the name sabo at the blurb and straight away zoomed to the cashier. but boy this book gripped me. All the stories are so relevant to a young women who just started her employment journey debating on principles, confidence and value. I learnt so much from the books and have an increased love to characters I didnt even know I would. Def do not regret the $20 spent!
This was a delightful read centered on some of the iconic women of One Piece. I really enjoyed all four stories and I liked how each one focused on a different character. This book focuses on Nami, Robin, Vivi and Perona, and I feel like each character was pretty accurately represented personality wise, and that got to play into each of their stories. For example, Nami is such a girl's girl, its one of my favorite things about her, so it was fun to see that represented in her story. Overall, this was a quick, enjoyable read that any One Piece fan could enjoy.
➽ This is a story collection featuring One Piece's heroines, so of course I was excited! I didn't like all the stories equally, but I'm still happy the girls are getting to shine in the spotlight! I was probably the most disappointed by Nami's story since it felt so disconnected from the main story. I loved how she uplifted the shopgirl, but felt like the whole shoe debacle/fashion show felt too random. The bonus story with Nami was clever though, as the twist took me by surprise!
➽ I really liked Robin's story as it's set during her time with the Revolutionary army and features Koala and Sabo. Their parting moment is close at hand, but before that, Robin supports Koala as she tries to decipher an ancient tablet. Their relationship is so wholesome, with Robin acting like an older sister. I wish we'd seen more of it in One Piece! I also liked how Robin promised Sabo to look out for Luffy!
➽ Perona's story was another favorite, as it's set during the Timeskip when she stays with Zoro and Mihawk on Muggy Island! When a barrel of wine shows up, Perona is intent on enjoying every drop, even though it's not her beloved cocoa. I love Perona and Zoro's bickering, they're so sibling-coded. It was also sweet seeing Mihawk's hidden kidness beneath the layer of annoyance he sometimes wears!
➽ Vivi's story was also sweet, as it's about a small boy having a crush on her and roping Koza into an incident featuring a cheesy love letter. I love how this story highlighted Vivi's care for her country and her inner kindness that lets her hear every voice, no matter how small! I wish we'll see Vivi again more in the Final Saga of One Piece, she deserves to make a comeback!

A short collection of novels that feature some of our favorite female characters from the One Piece world. The first story features Nami, which had a cute dynamic between her and a shoemaker and helping someone realize their own worth. The second story features Robin during her time with the Revolution Army, and her relationship with Sabo, Koala, and the rest of their team. The only thing I found odd here and out of line with the general series is that Robin claims to have given up on her dream to protect her crew. I think she still believes in her dream; she just also wants to protect her crew.
The third story is supposed to focus on Vivi, but most of the perspective is actually on Koza, her childhood friend. And the last story focuses on Perona during her time living with Zoro and Mihawk.
All of these stories were nice little slice of life moments for these characters that give them added depth. My favorites were probably Robin, as we get a little bit of character building from other characters we don't normally see, and we get to see how Robin actually uses her archeological skills. My second favorite was Perona's, as it adds some levity to Zoro and Mihawk's characters.
Probably best not to read this book until after the Dressrosa arc in the main series as it has characters that aren't revealed until then.
Thank you to VIZ and NetGalley for the eGalley to review!
I want to give an immediate spoiler warning for the book itself to One Piece fans: if you have not gotten to the 2-year time skip, then this will contain a bunch of spoilers, especially with Robin's and Perona's stories. Even though it's a standalone entry into the sprawling universe of One Piece, every one of these stories happens after the time skip and contains information about where some key characters are and what they're doing. This review will contain no spoilers, however.
This is a lovely companion anthology for the series, focusing on four of the most popular female characters in One Piece: Nami, Robin, Princess Vivi, and Perona. Each of these stories are lighthearted and fun, though Nami's gets introspective and particularly inspirational. I personally can't decide which one is my favorite, because they were all great! There's also beautiful artwork that softens Oda's iconic art style and flatters the girls' designs very well.
It was a short read but a good one and I can't wait for the next volume! This is definitely one to add to a One Piece collection.
I was so psyched when I bought this because it looked to have some romance between Vivi and Koza, plus a lot of characters I love featured in each story. I was pretty disappointed upon reading. Vivi's story was an obvious misdirect-teasing at Vivi and Koza content then shifting into something super juvenile, if anything, reducing the depth of feeling between these two.
But honestly I only managed to make myself read that one and the Perona story because again, I was excited for content featuring underrated characters. It mischaracterized Zoro to an extreme degree. It all read as some half-baked fanfiction.
I really tried to read Nami's first story but I couldn't physically make myself get past the first few pages.
I realize some of the quality issues come from this being a translation from Japanese but the plots themselves and character actions speak to it just generally being cruddy across the board.
I gave it an extra star because it at least had Koza in it and also the artwork is fantastic.
This is the definition of a comfy read. I love the fact that this is a break between all of the big action of One Piece and focuses on the smaller moments that some of the most iconic characters go through. For me, this is a book that just consolidates the characters best traits.
Nami's story could be seen as quite superficial at the start as it has her trying to get a refund on a pair of shoes she brought. But as the story progresses it is more than that. It's not her trying to scam the man who owns the branded shoes, but it is a tale of helping a woman to realise her own self worth. She asks this character if it's worth being unhappy just to have fame, and she convinces her to find freedom even if it could be at a cost. She does steal from the man, she's a pirate after all, but it is a really nice thing to see her be a girl's girl.
The Robin storyline threw me off as I didn't think we would be getting to see any of her time in the revolutionary army, so that was a lovely surprise. But an even better surprise was seeing her relationship with Koala. Robin could have deciphered the unknown language and cracked the case straight away, but she allows Koala to learn and try for herself. She's encouraging and gives advice when asked and provides support without being condescending. The two of them work well together and this is a dynamic I would love to see more of.
Vivi's story is a little different as it is more from Koza's perspective than her own. However, I think it's such an important chapter as it emphasises the type of woman Vivi is. She is a woman who shouted over war and demanded it to stop, never backing down when she was ignored and continued to fight to be heard. In this adventure we see the other side of it as she shows that she will hear all the voices of her people, even the littlest ones. She is no longer the one shouting, but the one listening. It's a cute tale and I like to think an event like that happens often to our Princess Vivi.
Perona's tale was so much fun. The three of them together are hilarious and I really did enjoy the repetition of the mentality of "we aren't friends, nor enemies, but a secret third thing." I wish we got to know more about them in the time skip as the three of them together are really wonderful. Mihawk growing Cocao seeds just because she couldn't get them, Zoro being her unexpected ally in challenging Mihawk and diving into the ocean for the crate and Perona hesitating as she didn't want the sea to aggravate his wounds...it may have been a small chapter but it revealed a lot about them.
I will be purchasing the next one as soon as possible.

One Piece novels are basically OP fanfiction as its finest (I meant this as a compliment I swear). Particularly, One Piece: Heroines is a one-shot collection starring (some of) the women of One Piece in scenarios not usually seen in the source materials itself. From Nami's love of shopping to Robin's time with the Revolution Army, to Vivi's and Perona's everyday shenanigans; these short stories successfully condensed a part of our favorite "heroines" personalities, thoughts, and their relationships with their friends/nakama into charming tales, which I personally could not put down once started.
Are these scenarios "canon"? Debatable. But are they entertaining? YES! I cannot wait for volume 2!
First off, this is a collection of short stories not a manga. I didn’t realize that when I requested it but I don’t mind reading it anyways since it's about some of my favorite One Piece ladies.
This novel has four different short stories featuring Nami, Robin, Vivi, and Perona. Of the four of them, I enjoyed Perona’s the most because it presented scenes that happened at Muggy Castle with Mihawk and Zolo and a lot of what happened while the group was split up is still a mystery. Also I just really like Perona. While I liked the other stories, I felt like they didn’t bring much to the universe or these characters.

4 e mezzo. )
The ladies of the One Piece world go about their days with style, grace and humour, from Nami taking to the catwalk and Robin helping Koala decipher a lost language, to Vivi being the subject of a blooming new love and Perona trying to enjoy a rare wine delicacy. Jun and Sayaka bring fans a cute and lighthearted collection of short stories, wonderfully in character and brimming with charm across every page and delightful illustration. What do the girls get up to when they aren't helping change the world?
Thank you VizMedia and NetGalley for an eArc of this book! I really enjoyed reading this light novel about various heroines in the One Piece universe. I really enjoyed the illustrations by Suwa which are interspersed in the various chapters and stories of the book. Each character's story is fun and provides some insight and backstory for each character. Overall, this was a quick and fun read that any One Piece fan would enjoy.
This was so cute. It will hold a place on my One Piece ladies shelf, and I've already pre-ordered the next one 😏. Loved Robin and Perona's stories, Nami's was cute...very Nami, Vivi's wasn't really Vivi's story so that was a bit disappointing. Other than that, if you're a fan you'll appreciate this. It was a lot of fun, adorable art too.
