Nothing Between Us

Rate this book
From the New York Times bestselling author of Need You Tonight comes a steamy Loving on the Edge novel that proves watching is only half the fun…

Unlike the heroine of her popular thriller series, Georgia Delaune can’t afford to take risks or push sexual boundaries—unless you count spying through her neighbor’s bedroom window, and never missing a single move he makes.

Colby Wilkes is more than willing to put on a show for the alluring woman next door. But his dominant side aches to show her the pleasures of submission up close. As a counselor, Colby is sensitive to Georgia’s fears. As a Dom at The Ranch, a private BDSM retreat, he’s the perfect teacher to unleash her passion.

But just as Georgia lowers her emotional barriers, an unexpected complication arrives: a bad boy musician from Colby’s past who adds fuel to her heated imagination. Now, the lonely author has two gorgeous men eager to fulfill every fantasy she’s ever written—and one she’s never dared to dream…

When I first heard about Colby's story, I decided I needed it in my life as fast as humanly possibly as I thought I might die for withdrawal. In retrospect, that was likely a bad statement because now after finishing, I am in even more in love with Roni Loren's books and am in a state of needing to go reread all of her books. As I've just found a new favorite read. Jace, Andre, and Ev and Kelsey and Wyatt and my two favorite sets of lovers from Roni Loren's books, but Colby, Georgia, and Keats just took the running for a new favorite. Holy macaroni was that one awesome story - intense to the boot and an intense amount of sexy that it should come with a warning: read with caution. The romance inside will likely knock you on your butt and leave you dying for more.

This series is easily my favorite out there. Each story gets stronger and stronger, and I fall more and more in love with the characters, especially the few who pop in from time to time. Particularly one character, and if you've read any of Roni Loren's other books, you'll easily know who that is ;)

Colby's story had me completely sold. Right away, Loren draws in readers with a scene that happens in Kade's stoy - which was a neat entry to the story. From there, the gate is open and the story races on by. I literally sat down and read this one straight through, and it's not a short book by any means. I was entranced and couldn't put it down.

The chemistry between the three lovers was hot from the get go. I loved watching them all build relationships with one another yet making it work all together as one. Things that happen in this one are not for the feeble minded - as that shit is hot.

Now my excitement is settling in for Call On Me, which releases right in time for my birthday . . . as I've been waiting for Pike's happily ever after for quite awhile now. I feel the need to check up on how him and Monty, his dog, are doing. And hopefully that means we get a Cela and Ian check in as well. In the mean time, I'll be over here rereading the series. Over and over. And falling more in love.

BONUS: Remember Hawk from Kelsey and Wyatt's story? Ya . . .he makes an appearance. And gets his own story. And it's pretty awesome. I loved seeing where him and Christina were at. And you really see both characters, particularly Christina come into their own. AND there is an appearance from Wyatt and Kelsey, which makes this story even more awesome.

Georgia Delaune is hiding from a dangerous man, her ex-boyfriend, who she’s supposed to take the stand against during a trial that’s coming up. The big problem is, Georgia suffers from debilitating panic attacks brought on by her ex and his stalker behavior, which is just the tip of what he’s put Georgia through. She struggles to leave her house and for the past year, she hasn’t. She forces herself to go out and run errands once a week, but has to be medicated to do so. She can’t let anyone into her home, and she’s been living a very lonely, isolated life, stuck inside while the world lives around her. But, she’s found a way to live vicariously through her next door neighbor, Colby, by spying on him. Yes, she knows what she’s doing is horrible but when she realizes the type of sexual life that Colby’s living, she just can’t put the binoculars down. She’s also a writer and her books have taken on a steamier angle since she started spying on her sexy neighbor. While she thinks she’s being secretive, the reality is Colby knows exactly what she’s doing, and has been giving her a show for months. He’s had enough of their silent game and wants to get to know his neighbor on a much more personal level.

Colby is a counselor at an alternative high school and when one of the students he counseled tries to kill himself, everyone is quick to the throw the blame at Colby for not catching the signs. He’s not at fault, but it brings up things that happened in Colby’s past with another student when he was a teacher trying to help a teen, Adam Keats, come to terms with an abusive father, bullying at school and his sexuality. While no teacher/student lines were ever crossed, Adam left a suicide note, disappeared and once again, accusations were made painting Colby in a bad light. He left that job, went back to school to become a counselor and is now right back in a similar situation, being blamed for something that’s not his fault. Now on leave from his job, he has nothing but time and puts that time to use by getting to know Georgia better. What he didn’t expect was to randomly cross paths with the missing Adam Keats, who’s now 23 and barely getting by working day to day in construction and doesn’t have a place to call home. Colby takes him home and gives him some help whether Keats wants it or not and a lot of questions from the past come rushing forward. Keats is still confused about his sexuality, he’s straight, but being around Colby brings up a lot of feelings he’s not sure he wants to acknowledge. Colby too starts to realize that he’s feeling something more for Keats and it’s a struggle because he still sees him as his student even though they’re both older now. Toss into the mix Georgia who, even though she’s lived a solitary, single life for a year, is desperate to find the woman she once was. She’s attracted to both men, both men are attracted to her and to each other and they start a relationship that could either be the best thing any of them have ever found, or it could destroy them all.

I’m split on my feelings about this book. I really liked Georgia’s story and her struggle in dealing with her ex’s actions and how Colby and Keats help her get past her panic attacks and anxiety. She has great chemistry with both Keats and Colby, but I found myself more drawn toward her and Colby then I ever did with all three of them together. I also enjoyed Colby and seeing his own struggles with desperately wanting to get his job back and seeing how much helping the kids he works with means to him. What I had a hard time with was Keats and his past relationship with Colby.

Colby and Keats did nothing inappropriate when they were teacher/student. That’s made perfectly clear, but it was a relationship that I couldn’t get past when they started to act on their attraction to one another. I just couldn’t separate their previous relationship with the one they were trying to figure out in the present. I think a lot of that has to do with Colby and Georgia being in their 30s and Keats being 23. The age difference didn’t work for me here for some reason as it felt a lot bigger than maybe it really was. I just didn’t buy in that Keats, even though he comes across as a mature 23 year old, would really “fit” in the relationship dynamic that plays out on page.

Ultimately, I’m torn about how I feel about Nothing Between Us. I’d say give it a read for Colby and Georgia’s story, not only their personal relationship but what they’re each dealing with outside the bedroom. Although Georgia’s storyline with her ex is a bit predictable, I got caught up in her own personal struggle in dealing with the trauma she went through. But I had a hard time buying into the triad relationship they have with Keats. He’s a sweet guy and an interesting character, but he just seemed too young and I couldn’t let the teacher/student relationship go.

4.5 Amazingly Steamy Stars!!

Source: eARC for Honest Review Courtesy of Berkley Heat

First, I gotta say Holy Shit does Roni Loren know how to write erotica. Yowza!!!

In Nothing Between Us we finally get Colby's story. Throughout the series Colby has been a presence and has been wanting more than just the dom/submissive thing. He wants what his friends have found but doubts that he too will find that happiness and extreme contentment.

Colby is now a counsellor at the school after the possibility of losing one of his students succeeding an extreme misunderstanding. After that he has never felt right and wants the ability to help more kids. But for Colby he has conflicting sides. He wants to help children and wants love but he also has the dominant side of him that doesn't necessarily gel with his other sides.

Colby is intrigued with his introverted shy neighbor but he also knows that she has some issues. Finally extending the olive branch Colby makes head way with his new neighbor Georgia, but at the same time his past slams right into his face after another almost tragedy with one of his students. Which now leaves him questioning all aspects of his life.

Adam Keats the long lost student is now smack right back in his present but he's having a hard time combining the fact that Keats was his past student and is now a full fledge gorgeous young man. Georgia has quite the past and a reason to be very fearful but the neighbor and his new side kick make her want to trust for the first time ever.

After Colby and Keats make way into Georgia's life, the secrets start to come out with her voyeur side and Colby's exhibitionist side. Getting to know Georgia makes Colby realize that maybe he can have more, but the problem is Georgia just wants fun and then there is the little issue with Keats. Colby and Georgia originally start to burn up the sheets but Keats and Colby have to come to turns with their attraction to one another.

"If you don't want me here with you two, I'll leave you alone," Keats said, his voice quiet. "But if you want me to stay, I'm all yours. For whatever either of you want from me, I'm in."

After they start their little rendezvous they all start to want more from this happy triad but their fears and insecurities get the best of them. As their pasts collide into their futures and emotions are on the line, more is at stake than ever.

Often triad stories don't always work but Roni Loren is like a triad master with this series. You felt all their anxiety, strengths, weaknesses, hopes, desires, wants, love and connections making you hot under the collar at the same time wanting for them to find their wholeness and happiness together.

It was great! It has so much steam I felt like my kindle was melting while at the same time you felt the amazing connection between these three with Colby being the rock that holds them all together.

I have been anticipating this story from the moment I started feeling sorry for the poor Dom who kept ending up as the third wheel or the extra in everyone else's happily ever after stories. He was a nice, fun guy and I just wanted him to get his own turn and...wish granted. I was a little tentative because I do tend to have some soft limits and hard limits in my erotic romance reading and one of those is S&M scenes and the another is voyeurism and exhibitionism and yet a third is some menage relationships. But, as I keep saying each time I read this series and get a bit reluctant, I was in good hands and had nothing to worry about.

Though this is part of a series and there are characters from previous books that drift through a few scenes, this one can work as a standalone. The bonus novella in the back however, is a follow up story to book four so doesn't work so well as a standalone, but the reader can get by if they want to jump in there.

The story opens with a lady writer who suffers from an anxiety disorder that won't allow her to leave her house much further than her own yard without her strong meds. Georgia sees the world beyond through her windows and that world includes a view into the bedroom window and backyard of her hot, kinky neighbor. She is ashamed of her actions, but not enough to put aside her binoculars and close the curtains while Colby is entertaining. Getting turned on by Colby's exploits in the bedroom as he dominates both male and female lovers and sometimes more than one at a time are the highlight of her pathetic life right now. She has a book to write and a life to get back together. She needs to be able to get on a plane and fly back to Chicago to testify against her ex-boyfriend who pushed her into this fear-filled existence with his crazed and truly scary behavior. He'll walk free for serious crimes and continue to terrify her if she doesn't work through her issues.

Colby loves his job as high school counselor and just wants to make a difference in the lives of the kids. He is concerned about a socially awkward boy who is being bullied and talks to him when the boy's regular counselor isn't available. That one act of kindness backfires in his face and is like the past repeating itself when the boy tries to take his own life. The parents are looking to place blame and Colby is the target. He is put on suspension pending an investigation and he knows what that investigation will find. That incident in his early days when he was a music teacher when he tried to befriend one of his students who was confused, scared and being bullied by his own parent. Colby hadn't had training then and the boy ended up disappearing with his dad's gun after leaving a note. Colby felt he deserved being blamed and left on his own. Now here he was again. But suspension isn't as bad as he thought as he finally starts to make headwaves with his skittish neighbor who has more to her than meets the eye when he starts testing her limits.

Into the mix, lands a face from Colby's past that leaves Colby, Georgia and the new arrival Keats confused, excited and scared all at once. They all know whatever it is they are doing has an expiration date and its just fun and exploration or is it? Meanwhile Georgia's stalker and her fears, Colby's suspended job and Keat's young age and uncertain future keep them grounded. They'll need each other if they are to keep what they have and find their happiness.

The story is told in shifting perspectives with all three of the main players taking turns narrating. This story grabbed me from the beginning as I learned to feel sympathy with Georgia's debilitating issues brought on by a fiend of an ex-boyfriend and I watched as she grew bolder and stronger under first Colby's care and then the attention and affection of both men.

Her secrets were like bars on a cage, keeping everyone at a distance while simultaneously holding her hostage. With secrets, she was only a character playing a role, a fake. So throwing back the curtain and putting it all out there had taken some of the power out of the memories and had brought her closer to the two men she'd confided in. p. 247 Georgia from Nothing Between Us

Keats had gone through some abuse of his own that left him battered, but still standing when Colby finds him. It was fascinating watching Keats work through all his confused thinking and feelings under Colby's guidance and Georgia's encouragement. Then there was Colby. He's been a bit player in the other books, but now I got his background and got to know him. Colby is a prince among men- a lusty prince, but a prince nonetheless. He is honest about himself and others, he is dominant to the core, but he is also a caring, tenderhearted lonely man. He wants a relationship and a family, but doesn't think he'll ever get one of those because of his bi-sexualism and sadistic needs. I just loved watching these three tentatively come together (all three are equally into each other in case you were wondering) with stops and starts and had to watch with horrified feeling as it unraveled too making that hard fought for ending all the more poignant.
She lifted her head and brought her face close to Keats. "I think we're done with the movie night."
"Yeah?" Keats asked, his voice strained.
"Yeah." She stroked him gently through his pants and put her mouth to his, letting the pent-up desire she'd been feeling for him from the very start pour into a slow, rolling kiss.
Colby's mouth touched the back of her neck, his hands sliding over her waist, and it was done. The three of them.
No more lines in the sand. No more pretending.
They were all tumbling into the churning ocean together. Not a life raft in sight.
p. 261 Georgia, Keats, and Colby from Nothing Between Us

The additional story finally finishes off a loose thread of a side plot from book four, Wyatt and Kelsey's story. The young masochistic submissive football player, Hawk, that was under Kelsey's care and had to out his needs to his vanilla innocent girlfriend, Chris, and watch her work through the shock and truths about him. Now in this story, it is Hawk's turn to work through some truths about Chris not being as vanilla as he assumed. I enjoyed the follow up story even though they both had to go through a bit more trouble to find their way.

To wrap it up, Colby's story was riveting and it was everything I hoped for and I loved the two he was given to warm his kinky, sadistic, dominant heart. I seriously could have just kept reading a few more chapters about these three and the novella was a nice extra too. Can't wait for Pike's book. This is a great series for Erotic Romance lovers who enjoy their heat and passion to have heart, character and story development too.

My thanks to Penguin Group and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I always love a Roni Loren book but NOTHING BETWEEN US was A-Ma-Zing. It’s probably one of my favorite books in this series, and that’s a tall order because I love every single one! Roni Loren has such a talent for telling stories that it captivates me. And this was an unexpected one. I wanted to read Colby’s book but I wasn’t anxious for it.

We’ve met Colby throughout the series, and we always see him as the third, or the big bad Dom. But there are so many layers to Colby to peel back in this book. I love how complex he is and I’m so happy he gets exactly this HEA because it fills in all the spots he needs. He needed this triad relationship, and he deserved to be happy.

I always feel that writing a permanent menage story can be tricky because you really have to feel a sense of connection between all three, but at the same time that same connection should be individual as well. And I rarely see that done as well as Ms. Loren did in this book. There is a thread that binds them together and the chemistry when they are together is off the charts. But at the same time when it’s just two of them, it tugs at your heart just the same. Excellent job!

Keats was Colby’s student years ago, and back then he was coming to terms with the fact that he was attracted to Colby. Discovering this notion that he may be gay, experiencing the rejection and ridicule of his own father, and Colby’s rejection, was too much for Keats and he ran away. Colby has always carried the guilt that Keats may be dead because of how he handled the situation, that maybe he could’ve done more for him. So I especially loved the fact that this reunion happens, and that Keats gets a second chance to get the man he loves and idolizes. And don’t confuse anything I just said with lack of strength. Keats is total alpha male, he just melts for one man.

Then there’s Georgia. She’s Colby’s neighbor, a writer, and a woman that’s been hurt by her past. Her ex-boyfriend went psycho stalker on her and killed her sister and friend. All because he was the only one that could have her. While he’s in jail and she awaits going back for the trial, she’s been just hiding out inside of her house. And spying on her neighbor’s sexcapades through her window. Colby and Keats together are exactly what she needed to come out of her shell and accept who she is, what she likes.

NOTHING BETWEEN US is intensely emotional and brings the heat to a whole new level. There are so many taboos broken and limits pushed. And as a reader of erotic romance, I couldn’t ask for more! Student/teacher relationships, voyeurism, exhibitionism, a triad, a sadist. There were so many elements to this book that that go much deeper than the superficial or just sex. Now don’t get me wrong, the sex is BEYOND hot. But the storytelling is what will keep you wanting more of Roni Loren.

Are you still not reading this series? You need to!

4 Yee-Haw Stars

Pretty good. I love a good voyeur story, though using binoculars seemed a bit excessive. Lots of internal and external tension in each of the MCs. There was a ton of POV switching. And while I liked getting a peek into everyone's head, I wish these switches could have been labeled. The length was good. The balance of POV was good. I liked all of the MCs equally. Well, truthfully, I adored Colby and Keats a bit more. Maybe it's because Georgia was just acting the damned fool, lol.

My biggest hitch was having a difficult time picturing the HH&h. But, that didn't stop me from enjoying this, not at all.

Oh heck yes!!!!

I didn't think any character could top (snicker) Jace OR Andre, really, but Ms. Loren accomplished it with ease. Colby. Keats. Major book boyfriend crushing going on right now.

Unbelievable back stories packed some serious emotional turmoil in this latest title. AND, said stories created a perfect fitting of three characters who belong together - who complete the others.

All I can say is, WELL DONE!!!

Now bring on Pike.

Roni Loren can do no wrong in my mind. Her Loving On The Edge series keeps getting better and better. So full of passion, suspense, and emotion, with this kind of pull, you can't help but to connect with each and every one of her amazing characters. The intensity of the passion and eroticism in Nothing Between Us was so powerful and so beautiful. I couldn't help myself from smiling, blushing, and tearing up throughout the entire story.

Nothing Between Us is a story about taking risks, not giving a damn about what people think, and of course, getting out of your head and following your heart. This story started off so naughty, with a woman looking through her window at her gorgeous neighbor, witnessing some pretty sexual acts, fantasizing about what would happen if she was in his home, in his bed, under his body. Kinky right? Ugh, it was so delicious. But the story became so much more when Georgia let down some of her walls and let Colby in. The connection was immediate, intense, and sensual. Everything was moving along, more and more walls were being broken down. That is until a small complication came into the picture. Some may call it a complication, a road block, a disaster of the heart, but in all honesty, it was EXACTLY the kind of curve ball that Georgia and Colby needed to grow their relationship.

Colby, Georgia, and Keats are characters to be rivaled in Ms. Loren's amazing series. They are beautiful and amazing together, but stand strong on their own. The chemistry between all three was off the charts. The synopsis of the story drew me in right away, but it was the characters, their adoration for one another, the fact that they were so comfortable with one another, that kept me hooked the whole way through. Nothing Between Us will be a book that I will want to revisit again and again. I hope this series never comes to an end.

Love this series and this book is no different! It is one of the few series I pick on release day and I don't regret it at all. I didn't want to put it down and kept reading it at work. Which considering how HOT it is I probably shouldn't of but just couldn't help myself!

Oh there are not many things better than a Roni Loren book. Holy cow this woman just does me in. Hot and heavy steamy romances full of make you snort humor, amazing and unique characters....and a little bit of kink to top it all off? Yeah makes for a very happy reader girl.

And Nothing Between Us was Loren in all her kinky fun glory. It was...delightful! It's not the most in your face romantically sweet romance but gah it's a fabulous one none-the-less as neighbors Georgia and Colby finally get together after months of, well, long distance foreplay? See, she's been spying on him and his exploits and he's...been enjoying giving her a damn good show the whole time. Love when those kinks match up like that. And just as things are getting interesting a new arrival--and one from Colby's past--arrives and catches both their interests. Yes. This one's a menage. And a freaking amazing one at that.

So...the players...

Georgia--Was awesome. Loren simply writes fabulous women and Georgia was a very interesting one. She's lived the past year isolated and prone to anxiety attacks after a horrible incident where she was stalked and people she loved murdered. She has a hard time being around people or leaving the safety of her house. It was hard seeing her suffer attacks and trying to work through her emotions and fears. She has quite the strength about her though and fought hard every day as the guys help her day by day to work through her past. She's also a dirty girl! Omg she has a fabulously naughty mind and I loved that. She might be vanilla in practice but oh she so had an inner kinky layer and it was delightful watching that come out. Seeing the twinkle in her eye when she had a naughty thought go through her mind about the guys and how she'd surprise them with jumping into things

Keatz-- Was the young one and oh he's sexy. He's submissive (with Colby) but had some dominance as well (with Georgia) though he could go submissive with her too. He's 7 years younger than them but had a very hard life and lived on the streets. He's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder at the start and can let the past sneak up on his confidence. He worked hard to get past things and deal with his attraction to Colby--the first and only male he's ever wanted. Tattoo'd sleeves, musician...delicious.

Colby--Oh he's such a dom! And a dirty talker. Lord have mercy. The things he could say! I'm way over here and he's making me lose focus and my eyes damn near roll up in my head with the way he can paint a scene. Holy cow yall. Yeah. Naughty dominance just rolls off him and is so damn good. He's stable, a good guy, knows exactly what he wants and likes things dirty and oh he enjoys himself!

The three of them together. Hot damn! They are scorching hot and so blasted fun! Pretty much nothing was off limits. Georgia and Colby, Georgia and Keatz, Colby and Keatz. All three of them in one big sweaty heap of naughty bits. Going completely vanilla or completely kinked out and full of all those lovely letters...bdsm. Yeah. They had me squirming. It was hot as hell seeing them all together. And could be hilarious too. I love that combo. These three enjoyed themselves and had fun together. They could laugh and tease during sex and it really made for a good time.

The romance and really a lot of the sexual bits were  surprisingly slower paced and I really liked that. The sexual tension was there from the start between them all and there were some very heated moments but these three had a lot to work through as a triad and individually and I really liked that they were given the time for them to each come to terms with their wants, with what they were actually doing and for a true menage to develop. Watching them each deal with their own issues with the support that the others offered was incredibly touching and felt very real. You could see these three becoming more intertwined with each other and the connection and bonds growing bit by bit. It never felt forced or out of place. There was no doubt that the three were just meant for each other and complimented each other so well.

Really Nothing Between Us was a lovely romance and everything a menage should be--passionate, playful and powerful. These three had to work for their happily ever after and in the end that made it so worth all of the struggles. There's a little bit of pulse pounding drama that sneaks in from the past and it added a nice little kick to things. Just a fantastic read that was masterfully crafted. There's a fantastic little bonus story as well that was hot and steamy as a submissive footballer and his dominant girlfriend dealt with insecurities and difficulties in their new relationship. And once again Loren just nailed it. No matter the type of relationship or the experience of the couple Loren easily pulls me in and holds me captive. It's amazing watching the stories unfold and the characters grow into the people they were meant to be.

Georgia is an author, living in a Texas town, far away from her family and friends in Chicago. She has fled her abusive/stalker boyfriend, Phillip, awaiting his trial for stalking and for killing her sister. However he is out on bond and Georgia is constantly looking over her shoulder, even though Phillip should be over a thousand miles away. She lives alone in her house, rarely leaving, except when absolutely necessary.

Colby is Georgia’s hot next-door neighbor. He works as a counselor at a prep high school, and when one of the students he has counseled attempts suicide, Colby’s past comes under the microscope. He had previously worked as a music teacher and had been accused of extra-curricular sexual activities with a student. Of course that hadn’t actually taken place, it was a vindictive parent who didn’t agree with Colby’s perceived lifestyle, but it ruined his reputation nonetheless, causing him to move on, with a cloud of suspicion following him.

Keats is the former student of Colby’s whose father accused him of sexual relations. There was nothing going on however there was no denying that Keats felt some attraction to his older teacher. Problem is, Keats isn’t gay. Colby has no problem admitting his bisexuality, it’s just who he is, however Keats is uncomfortable with the idea that maybe he too could be bisexual.

What happens when the three get together becomes a perfect storm of a story for a ménage relationship. Colby likes to have parties at his home in which there is some swinging involved. Threesomes, M/M relationships…it has all happened. All with the curtains to Colby’s bedroom wide open. Georgia, being the recluse that she is, likes to watch the activities from her upstairs extra bedroom, complete with her binoculars. While she thinks that she is being covert in her activities, Colby knows that she is watching and thus begins his attempts at luring her out of her house and into his home where he can learn more about the beauty with secrets.

Colby hasn’t seen Keats in years after Keats had run away from his father’s home following the sex scandal debacle that wasn’t. Keats is living on the street, using his music to panhandle. When Colby finds him, he insists on taking him home. What happens next is that the two find that there is definitely an attraction between the two, however they both need to take it slow in order to really explore what those feelings mean.

This is a well-written story of finding love where you least expect it, as well as in a very non-traditional way, with a bit of suspense thrown in. There is an attraction between each of the characters involved, and the three couple up in every way possible, as well as all together. They must work through their own insecurities in order to make the relationship work, knowing that at times not all three are going to be involved, however that doesn’t make them any less a part of the equation.

Nothing Between Us is well written and the story is good, however it was just plain too long. I found myself wanting to skim in places because I really had a hard time connecting to the characters, Georgia in particular. For every decision she was forced to make there was a three or four page inner-dialog that she undertook in order to make her decision that made the book drag on for what felt like forever. There is no doubt that the sex scenes between them were hot, however they too got to be too much after awhile and frankly, I just wanted the book to be over.

This is the sixth book in this series and I have not read any of the others, however it can definitely be read as a standalone. I appreciate Ms. Loren’s thoroughness in fleshing out the story and the characters, but for me, at least, it was just too much. I felt inundated with thoughts and feelings in a way that really did very little to move the storyline along. Georgia came across as very indecisive and in some ways immature, as did Keats. The only one that seemed to really have his act together was Colby, and I did like him.

I’m not sure that I would continue with this series but I did appreciate the opportunity to try out an author that was new to me. Perhaps her writing style was just not my cup of tea, however I can see that there are many out there who would definitely appreciate the amount of time spent to really get to know the characters

I’ve completely broken all my rules when it comes to Roni Loren. NOTHING BETWEEN US is the second book by her I’ve read. It’s also the 6th book in her Loving On The Edge series. If you do the math in your head, you’ll realize that, not only am I reading this series out of order, but I didn’t start at the beginning either. I know! It’s actually bugging the crap out of me, so high on my TBR priority list is to back up and read all of them from the beginning!

In Nothing Between Us, Georgia realizes she lives next door to a sexy stallion when she observes Colby’s nighttime activities through her window. Too bad she’s terrified to leave her house due to a traumatic event in her not-so-distant past. When Colby’s biggest regret crosses paths with him, together they work to bring Georgia out of her shell and vow to protect her from what seeks to destroy her.

I have to come clean about something. I knew going into this book that it was about a triad relationship. The fact that I eagerly and quickly read it says a lot about my confidence in Roni Loren, because triads are really not my thing. And, although I can say with confidence that triads are still not my thing, I did enjoy Nothing Between Us.

Colby was enigmatic. He’s a high school guidance counselor, so you would think he’s this big softie. Oh no. In his private life, Colby is anything but soft. He is as dominant and commanding as they come. And, yet, he’s sort of perfect for Georgia who’s dealing with crippling agoraphobia. He handles her with care when she needs it, which completely endeared him to me.

So Georgia – she is an author recovering from an attack on herself and her family. She’s hiding, both literally and figuratively, and the most exciting thing that happens to her now is what she sees out her window. Once she does come face-to-face with Colby, it’s impossible for her to deny him anything he wants, which is a good thing in her case.

Keats is the wild card in all this. He enters the story a bit later, and you can just tell there’s something there between him and Colby. And him and Georgia. He’s young, and he’s eager and he’s sweet – he’s the antithesis of Colby, and yet they meshed so well. Keats and Colby have an upsetting past, and once they rehash all that and clear the air, the way is made for them to forge a new relationship.

Prepare yourself to be socked with the steam. Holy shmoly. I’ve read a lot of hot books in my time, and this one is in the upper echelon of sexiness. And, the best part is that the sexiness wasn’t just in the words on the page. When these three got together, either all three of them or just two of them (and yes – there are m/m/f, m/f and m/m scenes aplenty), the mood that was set was just so sensual, and the chemistry between the characters was incredible. I caution you against reading this book in public. Everyone around you will know something’s up.

And, herein lies my biggest issue with triad relationships. In my own very small frame of reference, it’s impossible to have an intense, romantic, sexual relationship with someone without the accompanying sense of entitlement and possession. For me, personally, it would be impossible for me to let that go in order to share someone I love with another person. It feels too much like cheating, which is one of the most awful things, IMO.

But, I don’t deny that, for people who can get in the right head space, a triad relationship can work. Colby, Keats and Georgia all seem to bring different strengths, weaknesses and personalities to the table, and they are all very (VERY) willing participants, so that lessens the blow. And, Roni Loren’s spectacular storytelling helps as well. There’s a bigger issue going on with Georgia that helps weave everyone together and makes the exciting ending that much more dramatic.

I’m now looking forward to going back to the beginning of the Loving On The Edge series and seeing how all the characters that were peripherally mentioned in Nothing Between Us were initially introduced.

I always love a Roni Loren book but NOTHING BETWEEN US was A-Ma-Zing.  It's probably one of my favorite books in this series, and that's a tall order because I love every single one!  Roni Loren has such a talent for telling stories that it captivates me.  And this was an unexpected one.  I wanted to read Colby's book but I wasn't anxious for it.

We've met Colby throughout the series, and we always see him as the third, or the big bad Dom.  But there are so many layers to Colby to peel back in this book.  I love how complex he is and I'm so happy he gets exactly this HEA because it fills in all the spots he needs.

But at the same time when it's just two of them, it tugs at your heart just the same.  Excellent job!

Keats was Colby's student years ago, and back then he was coming to terms with the fact that he was attracted to Colby.  Discovering this notion that he may be gay, experiencing the rejection and ridicule of his own father, and Colby's rejection, was too much for Keats and he ran away.  Colby has always carried the guilt that Keats may be dead because of how he handled the situation, that maybe he could've done more for him.  So I especially loved the fact that this reunion happens, and that Keats gets a second chance to get the man he loves and idolizes.  And don't confuse anything I just said with lack of strength.  Keats is total alpha male, he just melts for one man.

Then there's Georgia.  She's Colby's neighbor, a writer, and a woman that's been hurt by her past.  Her ex-boyfriend went psycho stalker on her and killed her sister and friend.  All because he was the only one that could have her.  While he's in jail and she awaits going back for the trial, she's been just hiding out inside of her house.  And spying on her neighbor's sexcapades through her window.  Colby and Keats together are exactly what she needed to come out of her shell and accept who she is, what she likes.

NOTHING BETWEEN US is intensely emotional and brings the heat to a whole new level.  There are so many taboos broken and limits pushed.  And as a reader of erotic romance, I couldn't ask for more!  Student/teacher relationships, voyeurism, exhibitionism, a triad, a sadist.  There were so many elements to this book that that go much deeper than the superficial or just sex.  Now don't get me wrong, the sex is BEYOND hot.  But the storytelling is what will keep you wanting more of Roni Loren.

Are you still not reading this series?  You need to!

Nothing Between Us is book six in Roni Loren’s Loving on the Edge series. I don’t know how Loren does it, but every time I read a new release, I always think this is her best book yet. And Nothing Between Us continues that cycle.

This novel took a different direction than most of her other works, tackling some really tough topics with elegance. Georgia Delaune, the heroine of the story, has crippling anxiety due to her ex-boyfriend-turned-stalker. She is hiding out in her house, states away, preparing herself to testify at his trial. Loren portrays Georgia realistically, highlighting her strengths as she battles with the disorder. We see Georgia really come out of her shell throughout the book, getting glimpses of the woman she used to be, the stronger woman she is turning into. As a reader, I was right there alongside her, on pins and needles as she was conquering her fears. The way Colby and Keats, the two male heroes, help her through her panic attacks while never making her feel uncomfortable, is truly tender and endearing.

Colby Wilkes is another unforgettable Loren hero. Hot school counselor that’s a Dom and a sadist? Sign me up! Colby is so unique because he cares so much about his students and the well-being of others, but has this sexy side that turns him into a hard-to-resist Dom.

And in this book, we not only get one tantalizing hero, we get two! Loren has a knack for writing beautiful, sexy as hell chemistry between her heroes. Colby’s struggle with his feelings for Keats (and vice versa) is truly something to behold. The interactions with Colby and Keats are off the charts, their encounters laced with this sadness from their past, but an undeniable attraction upon seeing each other again. We get to watch them grow as characters and figure out their roles with each other.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Roni Loren book without high heat, and this one was sizzling. Loren brought in some new aspects to this book, namely voyeurism and exhibitionism. There were a few scenes in the book where Georgia spies on Colby in his bedroom—for the sake of research for her next novel, of course! Warning: you’ll need a gallon of ice water by your side to get through these scenes. Colby has a way of teasing out Georgia’s exhibitionist side, especially when Keats first comes into the picture. And when the three get together, the dynamic between them was written in true Loren fashion: hot, sexy, and un-put-down-able.

Another great, sexy story in the series. I've been intrigued by Colby since he showed up in the earlier books and wondered how his story would go.

Here we have a story of three people - Colby of course as the Dom-come-therapist who cant seem to find the right person to settle down with and subsequently ends up being the 'third' in many of the other characters' games. This changes slightly when he finally manages to have a conversation with his shy, skittish neighbour - Georgia. As a writer and recent recluse, Georgia has found herself secretly spying on Colby and his kinky proclivities over the last few months. Only she's not been as discrete as she thinks. Why is she so skittish? Well it's clear this has not always been the case. That her anxiety is recent and as a result of something that happened back home in Chicago - - so she is taking time out to get herself together.

The two characters build a relationship of sorts, or more an agreement. Georgia manages to let go of most of her issues at the hands of Colby, who has his own problems relating to work. His past resurfaces in more ways than one, one being that of Keats. The two have some history, being that Colby was once Keats's music teacher before he ran away as a teenager. When the two reunite years later, just after Colby and Georgia meet, things are rather confusing for them.

So what do we get? A threesome of course. But not like those seen in previous books. Yes, there's plenty of M/f and M/m but the threesomes tend to centre about a M/f/m and M/m/f and it's hot as hell!
Towards the end, the feelings between them all get complicated, with Keats believing the other two would be better off without a 23 year old young man who has to real job or prospects. Then there's Georgia thinking the exact same due to her own problems and finally Colby wanting it all but not believing he deserves it. Luckily this is all sorted out until that is the grand finale related to Georgia's past.

I thoroughly enjoyed this steamy read that is certain to get the juices flowing!

This book was one of the series that i was really looking forward to so i saved it for last even though the series doesn’t have to be read in order. This one also hooked me from the start. It’s the perfect book for someone into voyeurism because that’s exactly how the book starts.

Starts with the female lead watching her neighbor through her window. What she doesn’t know is he is also watching her watch him. He knows she has been watching for months but has never said anything because he knows she has anxiety problems with how recluse she is. Well eventually their paths cross and he puts himself out there and invites her to start doing things together. She hesitant at first because of her past. She is running from her ex who she is sure has killed people to get them away from her on the past and is set to stand trial for these accusations but she can’t even leave her house. Well as soon as she agrees to open herself up to her neighbor to practice leaving her house, her neighbor takes in the stray kid from his past that he stumbles upon that isn’t a kid anymore. They all instantly have a connection and all start hanging out. She gives the “kid” a job of her personal assistant and he helps her start really pushing her boundaries with leaving her house. They all start a relationship with one another but struggle a lot with it because she knows she has to leave to go deal with the trial for her ex, the kid is fighting himself on being attracted to a guy (who is also the reason he ran away as a kid because he told him, his teacher at the time about how he felt about him, and of course the teacher turned him down so he ran away and made it seem like he killed himself). Anyways it’s hard for the teacher because obviously he starts to have feelings for his former student and he wants to explore them but his job at his current job gets complicated. She decides to leave them but not before her ex shows up and she ends up having to kill him to save the two guys and save herself. Her family comes to back her up to move back after the incident but she decides to stay and they live HEA.

Coming back to this serie, i finally see a very similar pattern to Roni Loren's book: a character who's not in BDSM lifestyle, characters with heavy pasts ant denial of feelings and push and pull while having hot sex ^^.
Honestly everytime, it works pretty well because the characters are really interesting, the story are always well constructed and the feeling veeery present. What i'm complaining about (as usual ^^) is the over the top angst !! Even when something good happen, there's always a sentence to remind us that it's not possible or that it's temporary ... while it's necessary sometimes, doing it everytime can become a little frustrating especially when the goodtimes are few and far between. Every book has kind of a heavy atmosphere because serious subject are treated but when there's just a slice of light, boom, a reminder or a miscommunication or noncommunication ...
Anyway, i'm just pointing that because reading all the serie make those things pop out i guess and it's not the same thing when you wait for the next book for a few month. But some light moments during one or two chapters would be nice ^^
As usual, the characters were very interesting and i really like them. Colby was the ultimate dom with a kind heart, Keats the bad boy who try to find himslef and Gerogia, the woman having big issue with anxiety after what happened to her. For once i wasn't sold on the triad, at least at the beginning ... it feels like Keats came out of nowhere and since i didn't remember Colby as being bi, it kind of confused me. But with the story going along those tree were perfect together. I really liked their background story and everything they had to deal with, i just hoped that the heaviness of their love situation was dialed down ...

Georgia Delaune is a writer that has ran to escape a terrible past. Morphing her writing of thrillers to her life with her sexy neighbor, Colby, has become a passion of hers. However, her fear of people and anxiety disorder means anyone that remotely comes in her space, at all, could prove detrimental to her well-being.
Colby Wilkes is a teacher that is always there for his students, and sometimes seen as being too there. When given a blow to his career, he realizes maybe his BDSM lifestyle may need to take a front seat versus the back seat it has always taken in his life.
Keats is a former student of Colby’s that has been dealt a terrible hand in life. His family has all but disowned him, and running away when he was a teen, to never look back, is a life that he now leads. Until he runs back into Colby….and now Georgia.
The three of these together lead to an on the edge of your seat read, that has you fanning yourself all…the…time.
The level of hilarity and serious situations that are woven with this book are astronomical. One minute, you will be laughing your ass off, the next you are grabbing your heart, feeling sorry for all the characters and the heartaches that they have had to endure. Keats, Colby, and Georgia all have past issues and problems that make them who they are, and dealing with this issues individually, and together, makes this book a grab off the shelf, make time for yourself, must read.

This book is so tasty like a chocolate bar I can't stop reading.

We have met Colby in previous books in this series. He is tired now of being the single one out of all his friends from the Ranch. He doesn't mind playing third for a night. He just hates going to bed alone every night.

Now Georgia moved away from her hometown of Chicago to Texas. She is hiding away from her ex boyfriend. Hoping he stays in jail for killing her friend and sister. Now she meets Colby her sexy neighbor from across the street. There are times were she can't stop watching him from her window Especially when he's naked damn that man is a hot dominant.

Colby bumps into one of his former student Adam whom he could never forget. Which makes this book so much better. I wish I can be Georgia for a night is all I can say for now and DAMN!!!.

Plus there is an added novella in the end.

Merged review:

If you read Lady K's story in Caught Up In You of the Loving on the Edge series you will love this. We finally get to see what happens to Hawk Lady K submissive who is a football player. He was hiding his submissive side from his girlfriend. Until Kelsey told him to tell the girlfriend. Chris said she was will to train to be a domme cause she loves Hawk. That's where this story continues on. Oh my why couldn't it be longer so so good. I'm happy for them.

I've thoroughly enjoyed every book in Roni's Loving on the Edge series, and this one was no exception. Colby and Georgia are complex, with well-fleshed out and understandable motivations and flaws, and their love story reflects that complexity. I might have liked for a little bit more soul-searching at the finish, regarding the events which took place in the climax of the story, but otherwise, it was a compelling read!

Georgia's struggle to give up her anxiety and finding distraction and forward momentum first through spying on Colby, and then through submission TO Colby was a really fascinating element, and Colby's struggles in the real world, and the threat of being outed should things continue to escalate was something else I found interesting, and I appreciate that Roni doesn't ignore the pressures of the outside world to conform to a certain type of relationship when she writes these books -- part of the depth is that she doesn't write her lovers inside contained bubbles, but lets them fight against societal pressures and ideas as well as one another.

First off I have to say I am a huge fan of the Loving on the Edge Series. This was the book I have been waiting for since Melt Into You. I was sadly disappointed in this book. This is Colby Wilkes and not even one scene at The Ranch. I was hoping to see into his world at The Ranch. Hardly any mention of the other characters from previous books. I found Georgia's character hard to believe. She's so scared to leave her house, to get close to anyone, but she sleeps with Colby fist night she goes over there. Keats I didn't like at first, but his character got a lot better by the end of the book. I did like the ending, but I was so disappointed that there wasn't something at The Ranch like in all the other books. Love Roni Loren's work and love The Series. This book felt unemotional to me. Other books I felt the connection with characters where I didn't feel that with this book. If I don't feel for the characters its hard for me to read the story. Sorry Roni Loren love your work, but this one wasn't for me.

I absolutely loved this book. Nothing Between Us is the 7th book in the Loving on the Edge series by Roni Loren. It is an excellent read about three people trying to navigate their way to love and happily ever after. Colby, Georgia and Keats are three individuals who have been through a lot, but who are still trying to discover who they are and want they truly want in life. In this book, not only do you get three people trying to work through deeply personal issues, but you also get suspense, and an extremely well written story. If you've read about Jace, Andre and Evan, you are going to love Colby, Georgia and Keats even more, I know I do. Nothing Between Us is an excellent addition to the Loving on the Edge series. Great job, Roni Loren. I cannot wait to read Pike's book, Call On Me, and anything else that you have coming out.

Georgia Delaune does not like to leave her home. Due to fears of the past, she tends to take a more “subtle” approach and stay inside (AKA spying on her neighbor). Coby Wilkes, Georgia’s gorgeous neighbor, whose window gives direct access to plenty of shows, is a counselor and Dom at the Ranch. He’s sensitive to Georgia’s needs as he knows she is watching his every move. What began as a simple love story, one that I thought would take the turn of Colby helping Georgia move on and forward due to her past experiences, changed rather quickly.

Although I started to get into this book, as the new character, Keats, was introduced, I instantly lost interest. I am not a huge fan of reading male on male action and initially, I thought Georgia would fall in love with both of them separately. Instead, everyone fell in love with each other and had plenty of one-on-one love scenes, some too graphic for my taste. I struggle with two men sharing one woman, and although it may be preference for some, I find it tasteless and almost degrading. It was hard for me to finish this book and being quite honest, I did skip over some of the “love” scenes that made me uncomfortable.

Nothing Between Us centered on a love triangle that was too easily accepted and did not have any real meat to it. Since I am not familiar with the lifestyle, I also had a hard time understanding how Georgia was just “alright” with everything and was encouraging to Keats and Colby’s relationship, especially since Keats used to be Colby’s student. I would have loved to have more of a storyline revolving around Georgia and her past, though this could have been told in previous books.

All in all, I was not a fan, however, after reading other reviews it could be because I have not yet read the other five books in the series and with that, was unable to fall in love with the characters over time. Roni Loren writes great erotica, just not for the faint of heart.

Colby Wilkes, Adam Keats, & Georgia Delaune. (Mmf … though George switches with Keats)

When Georgia moved to small town Texas, it was to get away from Chicago and her psychopathic ex who was responsible for at least two murders, including her sister. Georgia is scared of leaving the house. She works from home — best selling writer (under a pen name) — and her only outlet is spying on her handsome neighbor who always leaves his bedroom curtains open, and has a colorful sex life, to say the least.

Colby is a school counselor by day, a Dom teaching classes at the Ranch by night. He is bi and polyamorous, but all Dom. And unbeknownst to his shy neighbor, he knows she watches him. He gets off on it.

In Colby’s last life, he was a music teacher. But that life ended when one of his students disappeared, with all signs pointing to him having committed suicide. Colby was blamed (and blamed himself) because Adam Keats took music lessons from him, sought out his advice, and had a major crush on his favorite teacher. So the last person Colby expects to find busking is his former student. And the caretaker in him wants to take Keats home and help him get back on his feet. But the man in him, the Dom, just wants him.

I love this menage. All three distinct relationships are strong, but the three of them are better together. Colby wants both of them to be his and makes no excuses for his desires. On the other hand, both Georgia and Keats attempt to step aside to let the remaining two find a monogamous happily ever after. Luckily Colby is willing to beat some sense into them, quite literally.

This is Keats first attraction to a man and his first time submitting, but he takes to both beautifully. He’s a masochist. George too is new to kink. She submits to Colby, but has a bit of a switch vibe when it comes to Keats. Love the double penetration scene with Keats tied to the bed.

Nothing Between Us by Roni Loren is a part of the series, Loving on the Edge. The series is extensive with nine primary books and some other related works. The focus of the series is a ranch/club related to the practice of BDSM, oddly while the ranch is mentioned in Nothing Between Us, none of the scenes take place there. I have only read a few menage books (as an introvert I find the concept daunting😊) however, Ms. Loren gives her readers a sensitive depiction of three kindred spirits and their unconventional road to love and belonging. My only real quibble with the storytelling was in the description of the characters. I had a good idea what the two male characters looked like, but the description of Georgia was very vague…curly hair and brown/cocoa colored skin.
Georgia has had a tough few years; her ex-boyfriend proved to be a dangerous stalker and after doing stalkerish things, Georgia is hiding out in Texas until his trial starts back in Chicago. For entertainment, she has watched the heated action going on in her neighbor Colby’s bedroom. Colby is aware that his beautiful neighbor is living her life AND love life vicariously through him and his guests, he would welcome an in person visit but sees that she is too skittish to accept his invitation. In the meantime, Colby runs into a former student, Keats. And while it has been close to a decade since Keats was in Colby’s classroom, the complexity of their connection AND attraction cannot be relegated to the past and now that they are in the same orbit, will they be able to determine how they navigate their growing feelings for each other and Georgia? I enjoyed this intense love story and the nuanced ways they fit together, giving each person what they needed in a supportive and honest way. In looking at the other books in the series, it appears that Ms. Loren has covered the many computations of coupling/throupling😊.

Title: Nothing Between Us
Series: Loving On The Edge Book #7
Stand Alone Title: yes
Author: Roni Loren
Genre: Romance, Erotica
Blurb: Unlike the heroine of her popular thriller series, Georgia Delaune can’t afford to take risks or push sexual boundaries—unless you count spying through her neighbor’s bedroom window, and never missing a single move he makes.

Favorite quotes: “I’m telling you all this because I’m not one to bullshit or play games. I like you. I want you. But I also am the way I am, and that’s not for everyone.”
“Yeah, well I’m kind of terrified of you. I’ve seen your shoe size.”
Thoughts: I’ve been a fan of Roni Loren for a while now, and this book is another hit from her. It’s easily read as a stand alone, and I enjoyed the characters. I have to say though, Roni Loren has a talent – I don’t think there is another author who can do it better and write a guy on guy scene with such emotion and intensity. Even if that’s not your thing at all, or not something you even enjoy reading about, Loren’s writing would convince you otherwise! She just has talent, bottom line. Another hit for the series!

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I have been anticipating this story from the moment I started feeling sorry for the poor Dom who kept ending up as the third wheel or the extra in everyone else's happily ever after stories. He was a nice, fun guy and I just wanted him to get his own turn and...wish granted. I was a little tentative because I do tend to have some soft limits and hard limits in my erotic romance reading and one of those is S&M scenes and another is voyeurism and exhibitionism and yet a third is some ménage relationships.

But suspension isn't as bad as he thought as he finally starts to make headway with his skittish neighbor who has more to her than meets the eye when he starts testing her limits.

Into the mix, lands a face from Colby's past that leaves Colby, Georgia and the new arrival Keats confused, excited and scared all at once. They all know whatever it is they are doing has an expiration date and it’s just fun and exploration or is it? Meanwhile Georgia's stalker and her fears, Colby's suspended job and Keat's young age and uncertain future keep them grounded. They'll need each other if they are to keep what they have and find their happiness.

The story is told in shifting perspectives with all three of the main players taking turns narrating. This story grabbed me from the beginning as I learned to feel sympathy with Georgia's debilitating issues brought on by a fiend of an ex-boyfriend and I watched as she grew bolder and stronger under first Colby's care and then the attention and affection of both men.

I just loved watching these three tentatively come together (oh, and yes, all three are into each other equally in case that is an issue for some) with stops and starts and had to watch with horrified feeling as it unraveled too making that hard fought for ending all the more poignant.
