Welcome back to the Lakeside Cottage . . .a place to come together, or be driven further apart?
It's that week between Christmas and New Year, and sisters Kate and Selena, and their friend Paisley, are meeting for an all-girls mini-break - no men allowed. But Affie, Carlos and Joseph have a similar idea, involving a sports channel, plenty of beer, and absolutely no women.
Somehow, there's been a double booking.
Paisley just wants to escape her worries, to recharge and reset for the coming year. The last thing she needs is complications.
Kate, the elder sister, is a people pleaser, used to making things run smoothly for her CEO boss, but even she can't fix this, can she?
Selena, meanwhile, may have a hugely successful career and be about to turn thirty, but she's her own worst enemy, and, as per usual, this mess may well be her fault...
To make matters worse, Paisley and Joseph have history.
Can the six of them find a way to navigate nearly a week together? Can the past be left behind and a new future found?
It was great to be back at the lakeside cottage again.
This was another great read in the series. What a mix up for poor Josie to sort out, but it was meant to be.
I liked the connection between the two groups, it was interesting watching Paisley and Joseph navigate their past and try and be friends in order for Selena to celebrate her birthday.
I enjoyed the playfulness of Affie and Carlos and that chocolate making scene really made me laugh.
I certainly didn’t see the twist that was coming, I literally had to pick my chin up off the floor. How everyone dealt with the information was interesting and I liked that it wasn’t instantly sorted. (Trying not to give any spoilers)
A great read, and I’m truly interested in who the next guests are going to be at the lakeside cottage.
This one was such a cozy, heartwarming holiday read. Perfect timing as we are coming into the holidays. It was set during the reflective days between Christmas and New Year. When sisters Kate and Selena, their friend Paisley, and three men end up double-booked at a lakeside cottage, sparks and old tensions fly. Green deftly balances humor and romance, especially with Paisley and Joseph’s unresolved history and Kate’s need to keep things in control. The story explores friendship, self-discovery, and new beginnings in a charming, feel-good way. Perfect for fans of unexpected connections and holiday vibes!
Reunited at the Lakeside Cottage, by Erin Green, is an interesting tale with a bit of British farce, a bit of reflection, and a good helping of drama between friends, lost loves, and strangers.
Selena is set to celebrate her 30th birthday with a last minute post holiday trip with her sister Kate and best friend Paisley. The house she rented was a last minute deal due to a cancellation. It is large, too large for the three of them actually, with a lakeside setting and a lovely caretaker who is there to welcome the guests. However, theirs are not the names on her list of renters. Enter three friends, Affie, Carlos, and Joseph, who just happens to be Paisley’s cheating ex. Upon reaching an agreement to share the very large house, they settle in, each carrying their own secrets and aspirations.
This is an interesting, sometimes intense, story as secrets are revealed, friendships are tested, and tragedy comes far too close. This is a story of regret, reflection, and reunion. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it.
What a total joy this book was to read. From a double booking at Lakeside cottage meaning that a trio of women and trio of men end up sharing for a week, to the inevitably romantic entanglements that may start to form... this is fabulous.
Add in the history that Paisley and Joseph have (divorced), and there are fireworks.
Not only that the chocolate making workshop that both groups just happen to be attending is utterly hilarious.
And there is tension, and arguments galore between all combinations of characters.
Not to mention a rescue, group activities, and a thawing in hostilities, plus some good times and you have what was a really enjoyable reading experience.
Thank you to Headline and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
The story follows three friends who rent a week long holiday stay and end up double booked with one's ex-husband and two friends. Overall, I enjoyed the story and shitting between the three females' perspectives. I found parts highly unrealistic, but it was well paced for the most part and kept my attention.
Full disclosure - I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
I really enjoyed this book and would love to stay at this cottage.
The characters were very well written and each one had their own quirks, the setting is lovely and the story unfolds beautifully with a few twists and turns along the way.
Thank you to NetGalley, Headline and author Erin Green for this eARC
I really wanted to love this. I adore a good, cozy holiday read. The setting was definitely super cute and cozy, but alas that was not enough to save this book for me. I feel like the story had potential and it was well written, unfortunately I disliked basically all the characters. They all constantly made bad decisions and were quite (over) dramatic. I just couldn't truly root for any of them.
When sisters Kate and Selena, their friend Paisley, and three men find themselves double-booked at a lakeside cottage, sparks fly and old tensions resurface. Told from the perspectives of the three women, the narrative explores friendship, self-discovery, and fresh starts in a heartwarming, feel-good manner. While some elements felt unrealistic, the pacing kept the story engaging overall. Green skillfully weaves humor and romance, particularly in Paisley and Joseph’s unresolved history and Kate’s struggle to maintain control. The story follows the trio of friends on their week-long holiday, only to encounter one’s ex-husband and his two friends. Perfect for readers who enjoy tales of unexpected connections and cozy holiday vibes!
