Deathless Gods
The Dragon's Omega
When I left home on the eve of the summer solstice, I didn’t expect to learn monsters were real—nor did I plan on getting kidnapped by one.
A dragon, if you want to be specific.
A hot, wounded, furious alpha dragon who triggers a heat the moment I scent him.
Vidar.
He makes me weak. He makes me burn.
I don’t understand it. Alphas rarely get a smile from me, never mind an insta-heat.
Is this a fated mates deal, a rare and beautiful scent match?
Or has my first encounter with a real alpha made me totally delusional and this—the way my body screams for him, craves him, needs him—is just embarrassing.
Either way, the pack courting me thinks my explosive heat is for them, and when I’m at my most vulnerable, they try to force our bond against my will.
But in the storm of flame and fury that follows, I learn the
Tonight, the only thing that will soothe my heat, mend my broken heart, and claim my very soul—is fire.

This was exactly the novella I wanted right now. It has fated mates, omegaverse goodness, and what ended up being a super sweet romance where the H adores the h exactly the way she is and wants to spoil AND support her. That's very much the tone the author's going for in this series btw, she has a note about how it'll be instalove, lower angst, no OW drama, and no huge overarching plots. There are details about the world at the start of the book too that are helpful without being overwhelming.
Initially, the book begins with Lianna (h) courting with an awful pack of alphas to benefit her family. She's a spinster and doesn't have many choices when it comes to traditionalists, though she herself is a bit of a rebel. The pack, while trying to show off, clues her in on the existence of the paranormal world and take her to behold an actual dragon. She becomes overwhelmed for a variety of reasons and there's an attempted assault (definitely be mindful of triggers for the description of the attempt). Vidar (H) rescues her, though she initially views it more in line with a kidnapping. However she ends up saving him in turn since he's severely wounded.
Then the bonding, spoiling, omegaverse elements start (slick, knots, heat, mentions of nesting, bonding bites, etc.). Also, dragon hoard! Even though it's very insta given that they're fated mates, some parts are given the room to breathe and time to flourish so this felt more complete than a lot of instalove I read. Plus, comeuppance for the bad pack AND the epilogues are these multiple, short moments in the future showing the beautiful life they get. I also really liked the tie-in to old mythologies and beliefs with the focus on celebrating old gods/goddesses through specific important times, like the Summer Solstice in this case.
I do want to add that in this omegaverse world, omegas do have the instinct to perfume and there is an element of biology not necessarily doing what an omega desires. I didn't think it was too heavy-handed or crossed the line like some books I've seen, but I wanted to mention it.
Written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama, small amount of om drama from the bad pack, and both main characters were experienced (the H had been with other omegas but only as a ONS and that's just mentioned in passing, no other info given and he wasn't with anyone within the past few years due to an injury; h had been with betas before but not alphas and some of her past experience is also mentioned briefly in comparison to being with an alpha).

Lianna was a very determined omega who marched to the beat of her own drum. She was willing to give up a lot to pay medical bills, but luckily a dragon intervened. I liked her relationship with Vidal and their mutual rescuing of each other. However, one of the major plot points didn’t make sense and I’m still hung up on it.
Spice: 3/5
Triggers: attempted SA, blood, deep wound, confinement, sexism and designation based discrimination, mention of mother death from cancer (past), mentions of side character with alcohol addiction, mentions of sibling in coma after car crash,

Fated mates omegaverse where the MMC is a hot, wounded alpha dragon who is pissed at himself for not being able to immediately take care of his woman? Yes, please! And the way he crooned “Brave girl. Fearless omega. Valkyrie. Goddess. Mine.”… 😯🥵
Full disclosure, I did kind of skim the epilogue, which starts at 83%, but that didn't affect my enjoyment at all. I just didn’t need such an extended epilogue in an instalove novella.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one, the mythology, the fierceness of the dragon and of course, one strong- willed heroine. This is a short read, but it had all the right ingredients that were quite well portrayed to make this an enjoyable reading experience. Loved, loved the epilogues - this love story is infinite and I have to say I appreciated the tenderness, devotion and genuine love that these two characters offered.

Loved the intro. Loved that the Synn pack were a set up. Loved the take the arrow part. Then, honestly after the first smut scene in the hoarde I sort of got bored. Then I loved the flash forward epilogues.

Rhea Watson takes us to a brand new universe with Deathless Gods. Readers are dropped off right in the middle of the world from the start but it's not hard to follow along. I love that Rhea included something like cliffnotes before the story starts, keynotes on how this world works, it's very helpful.
The Dragon's Omega is up first in the series of novellas and it's a smokeshow. Lianna is a strong Omega who knows and likes who she is and Vidar is a broody dragon who just wants to treasure his omega. This is an instalove fated mates story so things get pretty hot. However there wasn't just a physical connection, Lianna and Vidar bonded on an emotional level as well, they just clicked in a way only fated mates can.
Sure this is an omegaverse and has all the good things I expect in an omegaverse, heat, slick, knots, and more but it also had a unique storyline. From what I gather the Deathless are supes who've been god-touched, they're immortal and serve a certain god. It gives off strong pagan vibes which I love. It's an interesting storyline and I can't wait to learn more about the Deathless.
The Dragon's Omega was a light and quick read, that gave me warm feelings. The characters were great and it was low on the angst. I enjoyed Lianna's and Vidar's story, especially the epilogue. I'm excited to see what the rest of this series brings.

Dedicated to the girlies who want to be hoarded.
Dynamics: Masc Alpha Dragon x Fem Omega Human
Tropes: Omegaverse, Fated Mates, Insta Love, Forced Proximity
Loved this so much. Vidar is a man who knows how to YEARN and LOVE. He is furious at himself for not immediately being strong enough to literally sweep her off her feet and instead relying on her, but he makes up for it down the line.
A dragon always craved more. We loved fiercely, coveted possessively, and guarded the most precious treasure with our lives.
Loved how respectful while also fully obsessed he way. He doesn’t push the bonding onto her, making sure she understands what immortality entails, and never pushes her.
“Fate is forever. You, Lianna, are my forever now.”
Lianna is a great character, torn between her beliefs and being realistic about societal expectations. She is an omega and knows how that makes people view her. She is careful to trust and feisty, but once the man she truly wants comes along, she allows herself to relax with him.
For such a huge, burly alpha, he gave me cute aggression, just sitting there, all unassuming and naked, cross-legged as he snipped, snipped, snipped at his facial hair with a pair of silver scissors.
Loved the exploration of omegaverse sociology and culture as well, delicious. I’m totally gonna check out more from this author (realized many of her books were on my tbr list already and I loved this, so I’m ready)
“What’s mine is yours,” he whispered roughly, “and I take very good care of what is mine.”

Beautifully written fated mates story, wish it was longer!
I adore the way Rhea Watson writes! This was my first book of hers, and the story was descriptive and eloquent, without being overly verbose. Was really rooting for Vidar to make good on that threat to Dewey. Very happy at the way Vidar and Lianna's relationship bloomed. Instalove done right!
I had 2 gripes that pulled me out of the story:
#1 The word "delulu". It only appears once, but that made it stand out even more. Feels wrong in a book about a dragon, even if it is a contemporary. Especially given Lianna is regularly described as mature/older (I believe she's 28?). I can recognize it was likely intended to be part of the character's personality, but it just doesn't mesh well with the strong, mature persona she gives off on every other page.
Gripe #2: There's an anatomy issue on page 80, during a spicy scene. It should be physically impossible, unless her legs were broken. Took me a second to work through that one in my head, to understand the position intended.
Despite those 2 minor issues, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I wish it were longer, which is always the sign of a great writer to me. The ending was beautifully done, and I'm already looking for my next read from Rhea.

This book is a fantastic start to a new series! I was immediately pulled into the world, magic, and designations so it was easy to understand. I really enjoyed the pacing and digestible details of the story, it was quick and you really get into the meat of the story! I adored the characters and how the story played out. Kind of wish we got to see more of the dragon part in action but overall I loved how the author executed the story. The epilogues at the end were a pleasant surprise. I have not seen that before but I liked how we get flashes of what happened to the characters past the conclusion.
Highly recommend this book if you're looking for an enjoyable, spicy novella with a satisfying ending. Looking forward to the future books in this series!

This low angst omegaverse novel is the first of a series themed around the Wheel of the Year. Vidar is a dragon tasked by the gods to be in care of the Summer Solstice celebrations and remembrance. Lianna is preparing to enter a marriage contract with a pack of alphas tasked with taking care of the injured dragon. She is not a typical demure, submissive omega but has accepted her fate to save her family. Vidar is the perfect balance between intimidating alpha and mushy cinnamon roll for Lianna. They have instant chemistry and there is plenty of spice. This is a well written novella and the perfect omegaverse story to read when a palate cleanser is needed between darker books. There are quite a few epilogues which I enjoyed because they give you screenshots of the couple’s HEA. I can’t wait for the next book in this unique series.

Not just any old dragon - a sexy-as-sin alpha dragon who is totally swoony. Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less from Rhea Watson. The Evermore Omegaverse is a fascinating world, and after meeting Vidar and Lianna, I definitely want to visit again. The book is a quick read, perfect for a couple of hours on the porch swing with your drink of choice nearby. It may be a novella, but it's full of the great writing I love from this author. The tone, the flow, the word choice, and the imagination to create such terrific characters and the world they live in. Add that all together, and it equals the talent that is Rhea Watson, and it's just a start on the many reasons she's one of my favorites.

I loved this story! I really enjoyed Lianna’s character and her inherent omega reactions to Vidar. While Vidar was very much the typical possessive Alpha, he was also very swoon-worthy in his attentive care of Lianna.
This well written, Omegaverse novella features forced proximity, fated mates, an Alpha/omega dynamic, and explicit sex which includes knotting. I’m already looking forward to future tales in the Deathless Gods series. I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author, and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sometimes you need a palate cleanser. Omegaverse is so varied that sometimes we forget that you don't need all the bells and whistle to pack a punch. Rhea writes a simple story that gives you all the feels. Lianna's story is just that. The world building is well thought out and complex. I am here for this universe! Simple, easy, head over hills addictive. Vidar!! Love love love Dragons. Rhea's writing doesn't disappoint giving us everything in one sweet novella. I really enjoyed this read and I am looking forward to the rest of the Deathless Gods in this world!

3.5 stars.
This is definitely a insta love, he falls first situation. Don't get me wrong the FMC does as well but she fights it for a big and doesn't want to really believe what is happening Incase she gets her hopes up only to get crushed.
I loved the way that vidar comes out of his slumber and fights his pain to save lianna.
I loved that lianna didn't let the big dragon scare her and she was able to help him get out of pain, but also to find his "heart".
I really loved them as a couple and definitely enjoyed this book and how it was a quick and easy read.

This is book one in the Deathless God series. Lianna is being courted by a group of Alpha’s that she couldn’t really care for but her family comes first. She’s a great FMC and is strong in character and action. The Alpha’s show her a wounded dragon they have a contract with and her life changes. This novella was amazing that it had everything within the Omegaverse. It’s sweet, possessive, steamy with the insta-love of fated mates. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and I look forward to the next in the series.

sweet romance!
I loved this book as it was an easy and sweet read. With Lianna, an older Omega who decides to settle for a pack that just doesn’t do it for her so she can take care of her family and is swept up (quite literally) by the mysterious dragon Vidar. My goodness did I love the easiness of this story.
If you’re looking for a low angsty book with a cinnamon roll alpha dragon who just wants to love his Omega, this is for you!

This was such an easy and sweet read and a perfect palette cleanser. I loved the writing and the world that the author has created.
Lianna was an older omega and she was just so relatable and wonderful. I liked that she was determined and strong. She had accepted her fate to save her family.
It was really special to see that Vidar was both alpha and a cinnamon roll. He was totally gone for Lianna, he wanted to spoil her and protect her. Vidar was just the steady mate she needed.

September 28, 2024I am leaving this unrated. I would give this a 2 star, but I think its more me than the book. This story just wasn't for me and what I was expecting for an omegaverse. So I won't rate the book low because it didn't fit my taste.
This story was ok. I thought the world building was pretty interesting. I did like that we were thrown immediately into the story. I was just a bit bored by the story. For a spicy novella...I don't really care about fighting the world's injustices.

Ms Watson is back
Ms. Watson's novella is wonderful. The story is fresh and imaginative. I love this world. Lianna is real, but remains kind to others. Her mating sizzles. It was satisfying, with all the feels.
It reminds me her reaper's story, which is a favorite. It was that satisfying.

First in a Promising Series
I have read some of Rhea Watson books before, and I was craving dragons, knots, and a fiery passion.
I got all of that in this short novella. There is a great story filled with spice. I really enjoyed where it went and how they saved each other. I really hope this series continue, so I can read about the other deathless gods!

I got this on a stuff your kindle day...... And it worked. This book was pure soul. Amazing and enjoyable read..... And it occurs to me that an author with a name of a goddess may perhaps be a Deathless Goddess for is she not contributing to the continuing education of the true devine. Thank you!

I always love Rhea’s works!! She brings us a cute omegaverse Summer solstice story about a human and a dragon shifter that’s happily ever after. If you enjoy those types of stories I recommend this as a shorter but still very well written story!
