Well that was a rollercoaster! Some of the twists were really shocking! It was a somewhat satisfying ending to the trilogy but ngl I had super high expectations for this book and was kind of disappointed 😞 It's definitely not a bad book, but just not the best in the series FOR ME.

Likes:
- loved the characters and their complexities.
- loved the twists and reveals
-writing is easy to follow along to
-loved the moral dilemma of the whole series.

Dislikes:
- the pacing was off in this book for me.
- some repetition of the same scenes
- some parts made absolutely no sense to me (I don't know if that was a me problem or if they were actual plotholes)
- I didn't like Leah and Richter's ending :(

Overall, this was good but not the best in the series. However, the author said there may be more books coming out so not giving up on leah and richter just yet🤞

My beloved readers,

We made it. Book 3 of the I Kill Killers series—Final Kill—is officially out.

While this third installment wraps up the story, I’ve left the door cracked open. Who knows? We may not be done with Leah and Liam just yet.

In the meantime, I’ve been working on something very different—You Can’t Stay, a folklore-inspired horror thriller that I’m wildly passionate about. It’s dark, twisty, and now available on Amazon.

Thank you for being part of the I Kill Killers family. Whether you're sticking with thrillers or branching out into folklore horror with me, I’m just grateful you’re here.

You're part of the Ashman family now. And family belongs together. 😈

Damn it! The end was so open and yet so fitting that I can't be mad at how i was robbed of a romantic relationship between Liam and Leah!!!

Oh man! Part of me wishes this was a duet and it ended in the second book, that Jan Novak never existed! But his background!? I'm screwed!

I like thinking deeply about fictional situations, was what Jan Novak did wrong? Was Leah a terrible person? Were Liam and Rose outlaws? I don't know, part of me thinks that i would turn into one of them if i could! Other parts think that everyone deserves forgiveness 😕 its messed up!

So, i wish we got more of Liam and Leah and Josie together, they maybe what Leah needs to have a normal life

Good!

Story 4/5
Narration 4/5

“Final Kill” wraps up S. T. Ashman’s killer series with a bang.
I’ve always loved the idea of a vengeful serial killer as the lead, but for me, the first book had the strongest plot. Leah getting more emotional in this one felt like a step back.
Still, the series delivers. Brutal, bold, and blood-soaked.
Book one remains the crown jewel.

FINAL KILL (IKK Crime Series Book 3) [2024] By S.T. Ashman
My Review 4.0 Stars

The marketing blurb on Amazon kindly reminds the potential reader/buyer that this book is the third installment in the series, following the second book, “We Kill Killers.” The reader is promised a “heart-pounding conclusion to the series” and if additional incentives were needed, it promises you will be left breathless “with its relentless pace, original content, and an unforgettable finale.” Finally, you are cautioned not to miss out on reading “the climax of a classic series.”

First, it goes without saying that I would not have entertained a single thought to miss reading the final chapter of the life and times of the captivating, chilling, and complex sociopath Leah Nachtnebel. I had pre-ordered the book.

However, reality must become a part of the conversation eventually, and there is no time like the present review of “the last hurrah”, namely “Final Kill” [2024]. But to understand the narrative that meanders through the last novel in the series you must at least reflect on the debut novel “I Kill Killers” [2023]. I did not just really like it to the tune of a 5 Stars, I loved it. I am a self-acknowledged sucker for vigilante thrillers and this one was top shelf all the way. Leah was a serial killer’s worst nightmare and a beautiful wealthy world-renowned pianist who was also a genius; a sociopath far more lethal than the prey she hunted. It is noteworthy that the inaugural voyage of lethal Leah was very dark, and in fact was accompanied by Trigger Warnings for torture and sex. I am a fan of extreme horror thus this was like a cherry atop the sundae.

Ashman released her second installment in June of this year (“We Kill Killers”) and it was christened (Dark Thriller Chronicles Book 2). The final installment was destined for release in February of 2025. It was another vigilante thriller, albeit not as dark, and not warranting any “Trigger Warnings”. Ashton swept me away a second time, but the narrative did not throw me into V-Tach like the introductory novel. I missed that prior darkness and the cold as ice Leah. The author, I noted, fleshed out the character of Leah with some characteristics that I found troubling. Specifically, she softened her hard edges. I do not want to inadvertently tumble over into spoiler territory. I will say that I was edgy about the possible direction change on the main character of Leah. I awarded 5.0 Stars because of the overall excellence of the storyline and the high caliber of Ashton’s prose and her effective highly readable narrative style.

In the final book, which is after all, the point of this review, it was necessary to provide a glimpse of why I am glum. Ashton writes beautifully, and as smoothly as ever. In the second installment she started to soften the character of Leah, if that is the correct term. Leah sought to recruit the honest, principled, and emotionally intact Liam as a partner from the FBI unit. I was quizzical about that angle, but it was the author’s decision to plant feelings of doubt and worthlessness in the character of Leah that really galled me. If you are reading this, you undoubtedly read the first two books. You know what I am referencing when I mention the insane cliffhanger ending book two. Previously in the second book Leah had developed feelings for Emanuel and blind trust in the deadly and powerful Luca. The exact nature of how Leah looked at Liam was not explicit in the second book, but a best-case scenario was that she wanted him on board as a balancing component to her own stone-cold feelings and behavior. I rated the book high, yes, but the cliff-hanger ending was implausible.

Thus, in this final novel, Leah laments, say it out loud, mourns the death of Emanuel. The coup de grace high point of the trilogy has Leah teaming up with a reluctant Liam and Rose from the ranks of the FBI. There are any number of excellent highlights to this novel, and yes, heart-pounding scenes. I loved the showdown between Leah and The Train Tracks Killer. Conversely, Leah’s purely emotional response to Luca’s albeit reprehensible murder of a person in Leah’s orbit was if anything understandable, but it bled emotion in my interpretation. Leah has deteriorated in her own perception of self to feeling like a “monster”. Leah’s feelings for Liam are not specifically identified but if one were to take all of Leah’s thoughts and feelings about him into account, at the bare minimum her sense of worth is directly tied to his feelings about her. The opinion that she is in love with him is not a bridge too far, albeit the connection seems to be even deeper than that.

In summary, the third novel was a good read. There was never a dull moment. It deserves 4 Stars without thinking about it. It pains me to say it, but Ashman has attempted, possible succeeded in rehabilitating a stone-cold sociopath. Sociopaths do not “regret” their mistakes, think what a “monster” they are day and night, see themselves as worthless if one particular human being does not favor them, and they do not go into mourning over a friend or companion. They do not execute assassination plans with themself as the target or set up inescapable traps for themselves that will terminate in their total destruction. Leah from the debut novel in the trilogy is hardly recognizable at all at curtain call.

ABSYMAL DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE DIRECTION OF THE STORYLINE, BUT WELL WRITTEN

This was the final book in the series and it did not disappoint. From start to finish, I was caught up in the whirlwind of the chase between serial killer killers and the excitement of seeing how each character’s narrative would play out. Do two wrongs actually make a right or are there exceptions? I felt like we got an answer by the end of the book. If you like Dexter and The Mindf*ck Series and Criminal Minds, I definitely recommend you read this series.

I overly enjoyed this. My favorite of the series. This was a great “conclusion” to the series. It was a wild ride and I’m sad it’s over. I wasn’t sure how to feel about Rose in the beginning but she grew on me. So much love for Liam and Lucas … Leah, she makes me question my morals and I love it.

This series was really good !!

Good read

A decent ending to the series, though not quite what I’d hoped for. Rose eventually won me over, and Liam and Lucas were definite highlights. The twists, moral dilemmas, and easy-to-follow writing kept me engaged. However, Leah and Richter's ending felt underwhelming. While it’s not a bad book, it doesn’t stand out as the strongest in the series for me. Fingers crossed the author continues the story!

That was a great ending! I'm glad I read this trilogy; I love themes like this

At the start, I was way more into it

I liked the idea of a female Dexter who’s smarter and totally thinks she’s untouchable because of her power
🔪👠🚓🎹

Plus, I liked that the chapters were from different characters' perspectives

Overall, it’s a solid series for a one-time read

FBI Special Agent Liam Richter from the BAU and Agent Rose return in the third installment of the IKK series with their pal Leah Nachtnebel, a world-famous concert pianist who is also a serial killer.
Leah is a “good” serial killer who kills killers on the side. (You read that right 😉)

The book begins with Leah tossing something besides 🪙 pennies 🍆into a fountain. Jan Novak, the train track killer, is still in their crosshairs - trying to find a way to arrest and bring him down finally.
They have several more challenges that will make you cringe (Leah's kills are unique) and several moments that will make you laugh out loud.
And let's talk about that ending—it carries a beautiful sadness that resonates long after you've turned the last page. This series is worth your time, even if it tugs at your heartstrings.

The "I Kill Killers" series is an exhilarating and thought-provoking journey that will captivate any fan of suspense and psychological thrillers. The intricate interplay between right and wrong challenges your perceptions at every turn, leaving you questioning everything you thought you knew. Ashman’s storytelling is nothing short of brilliant, and I found myself deeply immersed in the twists and turns of the plot 🖤🖤🔪🔪❤️❤️.

‘Final Kill’ by S. T. Ashman is the final book in the IKK series. It isn’t at all standalone! Interested readers must begin with book one I Kill Killers.

Although I am enjoying this fantasy plot of a “good guy” serial killer protagonist helping out a couple of FBI officers, this thriller was the weakest one of the three. I would have edited out most of the three main characters’ constant angsty self-talking over murdering truly sadistic bad guys. Not that having a conscience is bad, mind you. But it is surprisingly dull to read through a lot of pages of self-doubt, however. And the denouement was a little flat. It felt hurriedly done and not entirely thought out as much as the other two novels. Nevertheless, the books are a great beach read! I hope there will be more books in the series.

I have copied the book blurb:

”In the heart-pounding conclusion to the series, Leah, Agent Richter, and Agent Rose face their deadliest challenge yet. Under the watchful eye of the most monstrous predator they’ve ever encountered, shocking twists and intense emotions collide.

As they hunt the ultimate killers, nothing is as it seems in this gripping showdown. "Final Kill"will leave you breathless with its relentless pace, original content, and an unforgettable finale. Don’t miss the climax of a classic series.

Wow, what a rollercoaster of emotions! I can honestly say this one is my favorite of the three. Their personalities really blossomed in this one. Leah just does her thing, and I'm so here for it. I honestly could read an entire book of just Leah doing her thing with all the bad people, if you know what I mean. Rose is awesome. At first I was a little weary about her, but she's great. Liam got on my nerves a bit in this book. He almost made me go into a full book debate with him, but obviously that's impossible. On one hand, I get it, on the other hand who are you to judge sir? It's definitely a binge worthy book. If I didn't have an entire life I couldn't ignore, I would have ate this one up. This one is more gory than the other two, which is probably one of my favorite parts. Yea..I said parts. I was so curious where we were going with *the* relationship, and I'm not mad at it. I think it's perfect. I will say, I'm very mad about one character. I can't say anything or it will give it away. I'm also very sad about abother. Again, I can't say. You have to read it to find out. I did yell at the book begging it to not do something and to do something. It didn't listen.

2.5 stars rounded up. I Kill Killers was phenomenal. I still think about it and I read it 2 years ago. We Kill Killers felt like an in-between/filler book. It left me slightly disappointed but I had high hopes for the final book in the trilogy. Sadly, Final Kill didn’t meet my expectations either. The whole book felt very disjointed and it seemed like there were a lot of plot holes and unnecessary characters and/or details. Maybe it was just me? On top of that, I wanted a cleaner ending considering this is the end of the series and that didnt happen. I think would have been happier if everyone had died instead of what we actually got. Ultimately I wish I had stopped at the last chapter of I Kill Killers and skipped the epilogue along with books 2 & 3.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️➕️

This series is one I've been HIGHLY invested in since her debut; I K!LL K!LLERS.
[which was a 5+ ⭐️ & a top read of 2023 for me]
But some of you may not know, I've been fortunate enough to beta read book 2 and book 3 for her.
[Which i cannot thank her enough for.]

Following Leah and Richter has been such a wild ride, it's hard to describe the flare you feel chasing the pages to find out how it all ends.

Gruesome, thrilling, qnd unputdownable are the best way to describe this one. It is not for the faint of heart, but yet pulls you in with each chapter.

Leah and Liam are back again, but this time with a new person on their team. As the lines blur between right and wrong, Leah is trying to decide what to do with Jan after learning who he truly is. If she makes the wrong choice, could she lose Liam?

Another great book in the series. Lots of twists, and I loved the fact that someone as emotionless as Leah, starts to show that maybe there is more to her than we originally thought. She is such a complex character. I love the partnership between her and Liam.
I can't wait for the fourth book to come out later this year.

3rd book of the series, i feel like it's the best one ! Or the first. I can't choose, this whole series is so good !! I love what happens to the characters, I love reading more about Leah and how she thinks. I'd love to be bestie with such a strong and bad@ss girl ! The only downside to having read this book is that I need to wait for the next book the author will write.

I'm actually really disappointed

This is heavy spoilers, just FYI!
I LOVED the first two books! The twists were nuts and really unexpected!
I wonder if I am fooling myself into thinking there will be another book? I read this as a final in a trilogy, so my review will reflect that.
I really had convinced myself that at 96%, Liam and Leah still had a chance. Maybe I am delusional in thinking that a sociopath and an empath could actually be together? The final statement, though, that Leah knew that Liam knew the difference between villains and monsters was what this book was all about. Liam never gave up that hope. Leah finally realized that in the end. This book felt like one incomplete thought to me, why give Leah the company?! Why give Liam an incomplete ending?! Just left me unsatisfied, unlike the first two books.

2.5 stars, rounded up.

Easily the worst book in the trilogy. The main characters, especially Leah, are such a departure from how they are written in the first book (and her bad assery / femme fatale vibes are part of what I liked so much in the first book). Also, questions left unanswered, plot holes, etc.

As evidenced by the time it took me to finish this one, it was a struggle lol.

i really loved reading this book. it had amazing characters, good writing and it was very fast paced as i read it in one sitting

i adore leah so much, she just reminds me of lana myers from minfck series. the way she’s portrayed and written out to be such an independent, strong and intelligent woman. which she still is but you can see how much she cares for liam and his opinion does matter to her

i need leah and liam to be together asap !!! i love the way josie is learning how to play piano too, that was so cute and i bet seeing josie play it reminds liam of leah. i love how liam hasn’t annoyed me like logan did in the mindfck series

overall, really enjoying this series and i am excited to read the next one that comes out soon

I think this was my favorite book of the series. However, I’m so incredibly sad the series is over. I want more, I cannot get enough. This book was much better and more action packed than the second but also managed to pull all the books together to conclude the series in a great way. This one kept me on my toes until the very end.
I really wanted this to turn love story with Leah and Richter. This book gave so many answers to all the books but still has me guessing at the same time. This series has me in a chokehold! Highly recommend!!

This was a satisfying end to the trilogy, but I do wish the ending was a bit cleaner. I liked how it left room for a possible fourth book which I would definitely read. I did eventually end up liking Rose and her development throughout this one and there were some good twists that I didn’t see coming. I think the pacing was a bit off at times but not to the point where it became too hard to follow. This was overall an exciting and thrilling series that kept me interested throughout all the books.

Such a satisfying ending to a trilogy. It wrapped things up nicely while also leaving opportunity for more books. The twists weren’t really all that. They were expected except maybe one. I really enjoyed Rose more in this one as well. Her character evolved throughout the series in a way that I had hoped. Even Cowboy! Such a thought provoking take on what makes justice worthy of a label from good or bad & if it’s really so simply black & white.
