A story of chance encounters, second chances, and taking a chance on love.
This book is a MUST READ for romantics at heart....This is one of the best love stories I have read in a long time. Very similar to the type of story that Nicholas Sparks writes. If you like his books, you will absolutely love this one. For anyone who wants a feel good read I would highly recommend reading this book! I've already shared it with a bunch of friends and everyone who's read it is loving it. It's a quick read and has a little bit of everything...romance, drama, comedy. I found it hard to put down and wished there was more to read when I got to the end.
This book was sooo good. I first thought the relationship between Declan and Lauren would be odd but it wasn't. It was really nice and original. I wonder how much of it was personal. It was all about love...even the smaller details and other characters. The character I thought I would not like (Abby), I ended up loving too. I smiled inside and out when I closed the book at the end...so I felt it was a beautiful story and was so much fun to read.
This is a book you cannot put down! Be ready to fall in love with the characters in the story, laugh out loud and cry all at the same time. I cannot recommend this book enough. It is definitely in my all-time top reads! Everyone I have recommended this book to loves it....including my husband who read it in three days and he hates reading!
What a pleasant read! I smiled a lot and even cried a little. The main character is a handsome and lovable doctor but I really appreciated the strong female characters. I really enjoyed this book.
I received this book as part of a Goodreads give away. I had a hard time getting into the story. Having a nosy secretary narrate was more distracting to the story than anything else. I feel this point of view may have worked well in a movie, but not for this book. Speaking of movies, when I’m reading, I usually hit a point where I am just watching a movie in my head. I was never able to reach that point with this book, though, and it felt like I was consciously reading the whole time. I didn’t really like any of the characters as people. One of the other reviewers mentioned that the romantic story line was like a Nicholas Sparks novel, and I can see the correlation…but I don’t like those novels either. Lauren seems to be another female lead who just has to show up for the perfect male lead to fall in love with her. There’s not really any explanation of their relationship except that they and everyone else in the story just “knew” they were meant to be together. Plus Lauren seems to be in the right place at the right time over the whole story. All in all, the characters and situations were not believable. This book could be a good read for someone who wants to escape for a few hours into a romance. It was just not my type of book.
I received a free copy of this book from the First Reads program on Goodreads.com.
When I first started to read this book, I was happy to find that it was a fast-paced little love story. For the first half of the book I was super into the slowly developing relationship between Lauren and Declan. By the time they got to their vacation in Mexico though, I was tired of waiting for something to happen. I ended up getting pretty bored.
I thought that the characters were stiff and unlikeable. They weren't the kind of people that I usually enjoy reading about. Declan seemed too "perfect" and put-together, he was almost emotionless and fake. There wasn't really enough evidence of the two character's love other than saying that they loved each other. They didn't even seem to have that much chemistry at all.
I was sort of disappointed in how it ended. Too "perfect" for my tastes. I also feel that although the idea of having the story told from his secretary to her husband was a good idea, it wasn't properly executed. No husband would listen to his wife tell a story that long. No secretary would know what both characters were thinking, especially with her barely knowing Lauren at all.
I loved this book! I could not put it down until my eyes begged for sleep! This book was well written with impeccable flow through out. So much to absorb; so many lessons. No matter what we have done with our lives, or the choices we have and have not made, we always, always have a chance to change, and evolve into the person we know were are meant to be. This book shows us that we are all family, and that expressing love and concern for another human being is what just may save them in the end. I won't say any more other than you should read this book, it is heart-warming and wonderful. It will make you believe in love despite circumstances, humility, understanding, and compassion. It will keep you cheering them on! Thanks for allowing me to be a goodreads winner and read your book! P.S. You had me scared when I read the first sentence of the Epilogue, I thought it meant something else, until I continued reading. With gratitude!
This is a romantic story and I mostly enjoyed it. I admit I don't read a lot of "romance" and although it was not slushy it was a little to formulaic for my taste. The story is structured with a narrator talking to her husband, which would suit a film, but I just didn't believe it (as a written story related by a third party who had only heard parts of the story from the protaganists but seemed to know their innermost thoughts at all times). I found this distracted me often so I was pulled out of the story, when I could have just remained immersed One other thing that irritated me was the perfection of Declan, even his speech - every word ennunciated properly, which seemed deliberate and could have been believed except all the other characters spoke really well too. Small points, I know but they distracted me from the story, which otherwise was quite enjoyable I received this as part of a goodreads give away
The plot reminds me of something from a Nicholas Sparks novel. It was a charming romantic story that I couldn't put down. The author did a fine job setting the scene and slowly building the plot and characters. Although vague on physical character descriptions, I was still able to create images of these individuals and picture them in my mind while reading. It was an easy read with good flow. I felt that towards the end, the book was trying to abruptly come to a close. The story itself was much slower paced and I felt that the end should've complimented that, so I could've appreciated a bit more details in the last few chapters. I almost started tearing up with the first 2 sentences of the epilogue, but luckily the story took a different turn! It left me smiling. I could see this as a Hallmark channel movie! It definitely fit my chic-lit genre and I would recommend it. I also look forward to other books by this author. I received the book through Goodreads First Reads giveaway.
Goodreads win. Will read and review once received.
This was a really good book. The Package is a really nice and quite original story. I thought the relationship we see in this book was a little odd at first, but then it just sort of grew on me. I loved how this book was basically a lovefest. This is one of those books that by the end of it leaves you smiling on the inside and out. I would definitely recommend this book to people who want a nice and good read.
This was a delightful read, the author made it very easy to fall in love with the characters. I found myself excited to get to the end. I needed to know what became of this couple. I normally don't enjoy romance/love stories but this book is an exception I would definitely recommend this book.
This is a great love story about two very different people that meet under interesting circumstances. One being a doctor the other a patient, both from two very different lives. Its their story of circumstance, love, letting go, moving on and a very special package that changes everything. I enjoyed this book. This is the authors first book and I hope to see more of his work in the future.
The story was good, just slow. Could of done without the secretary part telling her version although that was different. the relationship was a very slow timing one just a little to slow for me.
