This is the latest in the Tamsin Kernick series and it's every bit as good as the first five. You can read it as a stand alone, but you won't get the character---or dog-- development if you do that. It's a great cozy mystery with an angle I have not seen before which is that the mystery is set around a photography class. One thing I really like about Lucy Emblem's writing is her ability to write cozy mysteries with a theme one hasn't read before, like around a biking group in one of the last offerings.
I appreciate that she reminds me which dog goes with which breed because I think it makes a difference when the reader pictures them in their mind and also in appreciating the dogs' differences in their abilities. We have some new characters in this book that I hope will stick around. We have the characters from past books that we've grown to love.
It's a cozy mystery with quirky characters, mystery solving that keeps one guessing and brilliant dogs with fabulous abilities. What's not to love? Lucy Emblem states in her book near the very end that people have their priorities all wrong and admonishes that if we'd pay more attention to our dogs and less to our worldly goods, we'd all be better off. She has that exactly right!
Sixth book in the series so far. Another brilliant gentle mystery book which keeps you engrossed and entertained.
Once again set in the Malvern hills but now we are in early autumn, Tamsin and her dogs and friends have a new mystery and murder to investigate. This story has petty thefts, a photography course and a murder. Is there a link between them all? Tamzin and her friends are determined to find out.
We catch up with some characters we already know and get introduced to some new ones. The plot weaves it way around the Malvern hills and the town and villages with plenty of stops off at the cafe!
The dogs play a large part in not only the investigation, by using their amazing scenting noses, but also in the capture of the culprit.
Every time we have a new book in the series we begin to learn a little more about the characters involved and it’s like catching up with old friends.
I have the honour of being a pre publication reader so receive a copy of the book for free, however this review is my honest opinion.
This book can be read as a standalone. However I strongly recommend that you start at the beginning of the series & read all the books in order for the most enjoyment. You won’t be disappointed. Every book is a gem. The dogs are totally adorable. Highly original & very entertaining. The characters are great, & interactions believable. This storyline is quite unique as a cozy. Sleuth Tamsin handles the case & her dogs are an active help. An interesting & enjoyable read. I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author. I am writing a voluntary honest review
In this 6th book in the series, Tamsin decides to enroll in a photography class to better advertise her dog training classes. When she discovers another student dead, she decides to investigate. Also, small items are going missing all over the countryside and no one can figure who the pilferer is or why they’re doing it. Even the local paper has had an article about it. Tamsin finds some of the items hidden in various places. She wonders if the death and the missing items are somehow related. An interesting story with a surprise ending!
Tasmin wants to learn to do some basic photography for her dog obedience classes. One of her fellow student is murdered so she and her friends Emerald, Charity and reporter Feargal decide to find out what happened. She also, along with one of her dogs find a lost child. This was a well written book. Fun to read about Tasmin and her three very well trained dogs. If was an easy read and enjoyable.
I received an advance review copy, ARC, for Max, her loyal black and white border collie,” free and I am leaving an honest opinion and voluntary review
Good fun in this light mystery about hill walking, market towns and dogs. Oh, and getting better at taking photos with your smartphone. The characters, including Tamsin, sign up for a course in the room above the cafe, and take photos round and about for assignments. In the process, they may have snapped something of significance, but don't realise this until a class member is found dead in a hillside car park.
More hiking, food and drink in the Malverns with well-trained dogs; for me this is the best of the series I've read, as it imparts much useful information. I read an e-ARC for Fresh Fiction. This is an unbiased review.
An unexplained death of one of Tamsin's fellow photography students is the start of a new mystery for Tamsin and her dogs. I have to admid that I thoroughly enjoy this series. Entertaining, nice stories, likeable characters. What more do you want. I received an advance review copy and I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.
I received an ARC and this is my voluntary review. A great series that keeps getting better. A fast clean read that I found hard to put down. Tamsin takes a photography class to help promote her business. When a fellow student gets killed she starts trying to solve the murder. The writing is great and the characters are likeable.
I enjoyed reading this book. A good book with mystery. With dogs in it . I think you could this book with out read previous books I the series. But it’s better if You do
Once again a very enjoyable read. Tamsin’s rapport with her dogs is amazing. This is almost central to the story, as they are more of the detectives this time. A photography class is started above Jean-Philippe’s cafe. Each week is a new assignment & interesting things are coming to light. There has been a series of minor thefts happening & then a murder. The victim was one of the group in the class, so Tamsin starts to investigate & the dogs are very keen assistants. In the end they chase the guilty party until they are caught.
