Margo, an award-winning author, weaves dark tales of suspense and supernatural intrigue. Her gripping novel Trace of Evil immerses readers in the haunted streets of Salem, Massachusetts, while her Watcher Clan series, beginning with The Convent House, uncovers the eerie secrets of Newport, Rhode Island. Now living in Florida with her husband Paul and their unapologetically spoiled cat, Margo draws inspiration from the shadowy, gator-infested swamps nearby.
The haunting mystery of Newport’s ancient tower, rumored to have been built by the Knights Templar, sparked the creation of her Watcher Clan series. In the upcoming second book, Demon Amulet, two powerful families hunt the keepers of a deadly amulet, whose dark magic has already claimed a life.

Margo Carey’s The Convent House is a spellbinding novel that blends mystery, fantasy, and emotional depth into a gripping narrative that is both captivating and unforgettable.
Uncontrollable electric surges turn twenty-four-year-old Alexandra Ryan’s life upside down. When an enigmatic relative arrives and offers a glimmer of hope, Alex’s troubles seem poised for resolution. But as she moves to Newport and meets her new family, she discovers they are far from ordinary. Claiming descent from the Knights Templar and gifted with psychic abilities, her new relatives are a Clan, custodians of the Convent House, charged with guarding against an ancient evil that lurks within its walls.
Carey’s prose shines with its vivid imagery and rich atmosphere, bringing the enigmatic Convent House to life as a character. The mansion’s hidden secrets create a sense of foreboding that keeps readers turning pages.
The author expertly crafts the characters, especially Alex, whose struggle to accept her emerging powers and battle a sinister sorcerer invading her dreams adds layers of tension and emotional depth. Her interactions with an infuriating yet undeniably attractive Clan member add an interesting dynamic to the story, blending romance with suspense.
Carey masterfully intertwines the historical and the supernatural, exploring themes of identity, legacy, and the impact of ancestral duty. As Alex approaches her birthday, when her own psychic abilities will manifest, she faces a perilous quest to survive long enough to embrace her new gifts.
The Convent House is a mesmerizing blend of suspense, fantasy, and emotional resonance. Margo Carey has crafted a novel that is as intellectually stimulating as it is enthralling. This book will linger in your thoughts long after you’ve turned the last page. It’s a must-read for fans of urban fantasy, thrilling mysteries, and romance.

In book one of the Watcher Clan series, Alexandra Ryan has always believed her mother was an only child, so when she meets her aunts, she’s more than a little shocked. Yet their arrival is precisely timed. Why, you may ask? Alex is developing psychic powers. Now, thanks to her aunts and newfound family, she knows what’s going on—she’s descended from an ancient legacy meant to guard the Convent House, a supernatural place filled with evil. Her life is far from easy, and her annoying but oh-so-attractive neighbor Nick keeps getting under her skin. When danger calls, she’ll have to rely on those closest around her to see another day.
What a fun story! Alex is a strong, intelligent woman who goes on an amazing journey of self-discovery and finds family and love along the way. Ms. Carey’s writing kept me engaged and turning the pages.
For lovers of paranormal romance and thrillers, this is a great book to check out.

Immediately I was drawn into Alexandra Ryan’s world, the heroine in Margo Carey’s latest story ‘The Covent House.’ Always told her mother was an only child, a wild ride ensues when Alex meets her mother’s sisters, Bree and Franki, her cousins Tony, Lia and her aggravating neighbor Nick, all with their own psychic abilities.
As they instruct her to harness her powers before her twenty-fifth birthday, Margo Carey seamlessly weaves a tale of Knights Templar, Newport, and demons.
Quote from the book: The office door opened, and Franki sailed in, the song of her bracelets tinkling in the air.
A first rate read and one highly recommended!

Debut author Margo Carey brings detailed research into the legend of the Knights Templar to this paranormal thriller set in historic Newport, Rhode Island. Adding to the suspense are the various members of the Watcher Clan, their quirks, foibles and ‘talents’. This is a fast-moving story of suspense, murder and the paranormal. We look forward to seeing what will come next from this talented author.

Based on a scale of 1-5, The Convent House, merits a 5.

Found this at my library and was immediately sucked in. Margo Carey created this amazing world of magic and the Knights Templar that you can't help not putting the book down! The middle of the book slowed down a little, but the end moved quickly. I hope this becomes a series because I would love to learn more about Alex's family like Lia, Bree and Franki
