I did learn some things by reading this. It gives a basic start for people to learn about Norse Mythology. Because it's very little like the Marvel movies portray. There is male bias as the Valkyries are somehow left out other than naming two as wives. Also, Loki's children are barely mentioned, and there no explanation as to why several of his children became "bad." They strip Hel of her beauty and why she was chosen to reside over the majority of the dead. But this is a great place to start and then continue your education.
Norse legends and mythology come from different times and sources. Thus, there are voids, blanks, and inconsistencies. A god has counterparts. There are several homes of different types of gods and demi-gods. Gods have different roles depending on the context. There are different stories to explain the jniverse and how it works.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It was an informative beginning to learn about Viking myths and legends. I liked it.
