Denial is just another type of lie. But sometimes it's all a girl has.
Giselle
Okay, so I threw a glass of beer in his face the first time I saw him. I thought he was his cousin and that he was treating my best friend badly.
It was an honest mistake. I didn't know the psycho was going to see it as a challenge and form a fixation on me. My answer was a firm resounding no.
But that didn't seem to stop him. And when a group of drunk guys decided to follow me home one night after I left the Den, I had to admit, it paid to have a stalker who was six foot six inches of pure, tattooed muscle.
Angel Fury was something to behold, and now that he made it into my bed, I was afraid he'd slithered into other places. Like my heart. There was only one way to get rid of the man who would only cause me pain in the end.
Deny. Deny. Deny.

Angel
The first time I saw Giselle Vega, I knew I wanted her. The curvy goddess stood toe to toe with a monster like me and didn't even bat an eyelash. It wasn't every day I met a woman feisty enough to take me on.
She could keep spouting her pitiful lies, but I knew the truth. I felt it every time I touched her. She was crazy about me. And I wanted to keep her. I just had to get her addicted. So, I decided to lay in wait, like the Viper I was.
That was the thing about snakes. Sure, we hibernated at times, but we always struck when least expected.
My pretty Little Doll had no idea what was coming for her.
Pitiful Lies is the third in the contemporary romance series of connected standalones, Jersey Bad Boys. This series features familiar tropes such as enemies to lovers, forced proximity, arranged marriages, secret babies, and contains some violence and explicit scenes.

I just finished this book and am left with questions. Mainly, why the heck have I not read anything from this series before?!
I’m a sucker for the bad boy who is scary and grumpy to everyone but HER. This was so fun to read. Angel is a fine tattooed slab of a man who only had eyes for Giselle. Giselle is a curvy beauty with a feisty personality, who can’t quite believe that Angel chose her over so many others.
This was actually surprisingly sweet. Angel had such a soft spot for Giselle that it was quite touching. Reading his thoughts as they jumped from one thing to another and realizing he’s fallen hard for Giselle had me giggling.
This was a quick read that has all kinds of good stuff in it, plus a happy ending. So enjoyable!
PITIFUL LIES, the final book from the Jersey Bad Boys series from C.D. Gorri was amazing!
This time, its Angel Fury's turn for a shot at an HEA with Giselle Vega, the best friend of Anna Fury, Nico's wife from Book One, MERCIFUL LIES. If you have kept up with the series, Giselle and Angel met in book one when she threw a drink in his face after mistaking him for Nico. Well, throughout books one and two, Angel and Giselle were fooling around behind the scenes until they weren't. In this book, we get to find out why the heat fizzled between them, at least on Giselle's end.
Angel tries to woo Giselle back. However, Giselle believes that she cannot have anything solid with Angel because he will never give up his player lifestyle to become serious about her. No matter how much Angel feels for Giselle, he just cannot bring himself to admit that he has strong feelings for her. But, will his delay in telling her how he feels cost him Giselle forever?
As with the last two books in this series, the scenes were very spicy! Angel and Giselle were so nasty in this one, I can see how they burned the covers up behind the scenes while we were preoccupied with Nico and Luc's stories. There was also the epic mash-up that I have been hoping for in this book! *squeal* Not going to spoil it but it was well worth the wait!
My only critique is that I would have liked to see more of the brutal side of Angel. He was the Enforcer of the group so, I guess I expected him to be the most brutal. Especially having witnessed the brutality of Nico and the savagery of Luc (still trying to unpack his show of violence). Nevertheless, the book was excellent, and I loved the ending and coming full circle.
This was an amazing series, and I hope C.D. Gorri chooses to write more dark romance books. She definitely has a knack for it and I'd love to see what else she can do in this criminal world she's created. Hats off to you, C.D. Gorri! This entire series is well done!
Another good installment in this series. I had a blast listening to this series. I binged it within a few hours on audio it was so easy to listen and entertaining. Action packed, very spicy and swoony also.
Wow! This was so good! Full of suspense and surprising twists and turns! Angel and Giselle met when she threw a drink over him in a case of mistaken identity. They had a soul deep connection but a misunderstanding caused Giselle to run. Angel is going to get his girl back! Hot, steamy, danger, suspense, the story pulls you in, I couldn’t put it down! Amazing 5 star read, the whole series is must read! The HEA is beautiful
This is the first book I have read by C.D. Gorri. I will be digging into her other books!!
Oh, Angel and Giselle!!! The big, muscled, tattooed man who falls for the shorter, plump, confident woman. Angel refused to admit that he is falling for Giselle, but he knows that he will do whatever it takes to make her happy. Giselle knows that she is falling for him, but does not want to expose her heart to Angel after he crushed her months earlier.
I love the twists and turns that C.D. Gorri includes in her stories. The characters are strong from the beginning and only get stronger together. This is a great read.

REVIEW
We have met Angel and Giselle in the previous books in this series. Giselle is one tough cookie, but underneath all that she may be just what Angel really wants.
Angel knows he can have his pick of women he is a viper, an Enforcer. He is tall, dark, and handsome to many women. But he doesn't want some Barbie doll... oh no not this man he wants her. His Koukla. But now he has to go and bring her back...
She thought there was more until she walked into the Den and saw something that had her leaving her best friend, as fast as she could... Giselle has a lot to work out, she doesn't have great self-esteem now either after what she witnessed.
Will Angel get his Giselle before the other big bad wolves can?
We get tons of action, and many surprises I have enjoyed this entire series but by far this was my favorite.
I listened to the audiobook of this story and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is kind of a second chance romance between Angel and Giselle and their relationship is a complicated one. They meet when Giselle confronts him in the Vipers bar and mistakens him for some one else. Someone who mistreated her friend,so throws a drink in his face. Well Angel is intrigued by this firecracker and wants her so takes her...and from that moment they are just having s3xy times together nothing deep. But Giselle wants more than a fling so when she sees him with someone else believing he is a cheater, she leaves and disappears for 2 months. But Giselle is wrong about Angel he may be a huge tattooed greek god who could have any woman he wants, but the only woman he does want is Giselle. But she doesn't believe it..I think Giselle appears to be confident on the outside but her inner dialogue shows some vunerability.Because Giselle thinks that Angel couldn't possibly be interested into her because she is curvy,a size 16 and not skinny..plus she loves her food.I didn't like her thinking this about herself just because he is gorgeous and tattooed that the misconception is that he wants a skinny girl !! he couldn't possibly go for a larger lady why because they aren't beautiful and sexy..WRONG !! Curvy woman are just as stunning as thin woman..ALL woman are gorgeous no matter what their size. Angel has to prove to Giselle that she is woman for him and make her believe it. There is also a side story with the Vipers and their enemies..etc so there is alot going on,but the main focus is Angel and Giselle and how they fall for eachother, and build a relationship that is more than just sex. Narrated by Elle Sonali and Mick Fanning they do a fabulous performance of voicing these characters. With passion and emotion both Narrators bring Giselle and Angel to life perfectly. I enjoyed them telling this story. C.D Gorri has written another great edition to this series about the Viper badboys falling for their curvy goddesses. A Brilliant read or listen. 5 Stars.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️🌶️ (Slowish burn with delicious spice and dirty talk)
Received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Just like Luc and Nico, Angel talks about Giselle in just a sensual and respectful way. But Angel, all 6 foot 6 of him, meeeeoooow honestly... respectfully of course. 🥵
This was the book that I was anticipating, the moment I read Giselle threw beer in Angel's face, I just knew these two were going to take us on a wild ride.
The BOB scene was the funniest thing I've read all year 🤣. Not a battery operated boyfriend 😭.
Regardless of what Giselle saw at the bar, Angel's groveling in this book was amazing. He put his entire heart into trying to win her back. Even when I felt he crossed the line in his attempt of redemption, I still couldn't hate on Angel. Definitely a gentle giant when it comes for Giselle.
My main issue with this book is the build and break up that lead to the current timeline was told in brief flashbacks. But I wished they would have been in real time, even if stuff got repetitive from the last two books. Because there were times I felt lost and had to remind myself "oh that happened in Nico/Luc's book" or I couldn't gage the timeline properly.
Nevertheless Angel and Giselle's story was a fun one. Though they both made me age 20 years 🤣🤣.
Nico, Luc and Angel all made me laugh, swoon and wonder when will it be my turn.
DNF @ 30%. I really wanted to like this but Angel and this writing style just cringed me out so hard.
PLOT:
Gisella throws a drink at a guy who she thinks was mistreating her friend. She's got the wrong guy. Angel is impressed by her bravado and is instantly obsessed with and stalks her.
THOUGHTS:
- Angel Fury is a terrible name. I know that's probably nitpicky and all but REALLY? that's what we came up with?
- I could not get down with this writing style and the alternating POVs. It was just so bland and random and I barely knew what was happening.
- Gisella is TSTL. She just assaults some guy because she thought he was someone else? If you're gonna go in on someone, at least be sure it's them first. Also, she hates him following and creeping on her but like never does anything about it / is more mad at him for "cheating"? Fam I thought he was stalking you, are you into it or not??
- Angel made me roll my eyes SO HARD I had to stop reading. I get it, he's thick, buff, tall and has tattoos but how many times do I have to hear about it. About how he's "a viper" and has "darkness within". I get it, he's ~hardcore~ and a "bad guy" but it was just a little much. Also, he's totally a dick.
If you’ve been keeping up with C.D. Gorri’s Jersey Bad Boys series (and if you haven’t—sweetheart, what are you doing with your life?), then Pitiful Lies is the long-awaited, slow-burn inferno you didn’t know you were craving. This book isn’t just a love story—it’s a full-blown, tattooed, emotionally-repressed symphony of grump-meets-sunshine perfection.
Angel: a brooding, inked-up human mountain with a permanent scowl and a heart that secretly beats only for her—Giselle. He’s the kind of man who could intimidate a biker gang just by breathing, yet melts into a puddle of protective goo the moment Giselle walks in. I mean, is there anything sexier than a man who terrifies the world but turns into a golden retriever around his woman? No. No, there is not.
And Giselle? She’s curvy, confident (except when she’s not, which makes her all the more relatable), and way too used to being overlooked. But not by Angel. Not ever. He’s been laser-focused on her since book one, and Pitiful Lies finally gives us front-row seats to their sizzling, snarky, deeply swoony love story.
Now, let’s talk about Angel’s inner monologue—because it’s an absolute riot. Watching this massive brute spiral into emotional chaos over every look, every touch, every moment with Giselle? Iconic. His brain is basically a bear wearing a leather jacket trying to write poetry with boxing gloves on, and I loved it. His vulnerability is surprisingly tender, and when he decides Giselle is it for him? Game over. You will feel things.
But don’t let the softness fool you—this book brings the heat. The spice level is off the charts. We're talking open-your-kindle-in-private-or-risk-blushing-in-public heat. The chemistry is mouthwatering, the tension is taut, and the payoff? Let’s just say Angel knows what he’s doing, and Giselle’s no amateur either.
Toss in some twisty plot turns, a bit of action to keep your pulse racing, and an audio version with two narrators (swoon), and you’ve got yourself a five-star experience wrapped in muscle, mischief, and just the right amount of mayhem.
Final verdict: Pitiful Lies is the cherry on top of an already delicious sundae of bad boys, steamy moments, and surprisingly tender love. Angel and Giselle are electric, unfiltered, and unforgettable. If you love your romance with grit, growls, and a whole lot of heart, this one’s a must-read.
One warning: you will fall in love with a fictional man named Angel. It’s unavoidable. Accept it and move on.
Pitiful Lies Jersey Bad Boys, Book 3 By: C.D. Gorri Narrated by: Elle Sonali, Mick Fanning
Those Jersey Bad Boys are so bad they are good! In the most surprising of circumstances, Giselle finds herself as Angel's obsession. Yes, he is hot, the attraction is unmistakable, but it can't go anywhere. Little does she know, that obsession may just save her life. CD Gorri builds the suspense as danger comes to the forefront, and Angel is right there, protective and savage. Giselle finds herself not only in love, but needing to realize her worth. Sensual, provocative and all around HOT, I loved how this one had the guy falling first and building the confidence of his woman. But snakes, why did it have to be snakes? Listen to this and you too will understand! Fantastic listen,
Elle Sonali and Mick Fanning continue their narration of the series and I love them together. Sonali is Giselle and she is just so good at finding the traits of her characters and making creating their personality. Fanning is the over protective, obsessive Angel and he makes his dangerous but impossible not to love. A listen you don't want to miss!
This Book 3 in The Jersey Bad Boys Book Series has a Intriguing Romance Story, a well-constructed/interconnected world and intense characters. These characters have unique personalities, realistic interactions and complicated histories. Ci-Ci, Giselle Vega, is on a rampage to protect her best friend Anna, and accidentally pours a beer over the wrong man. Ci-Ci comes over to the Vipers Nest to surprise him one night and gets a surprise herself, a Woman sitting on his lap, so she bolts. Angel Fury is intrigued and instantly attracted to her and is in the dark when she bolts without a word. He finds out where she went and keeps someone there to watch over her, but when 2 months pass without her coming back he decides it is time for her to come home. This Story has action, twists, turns, danger, secrets, surprises, betrayal, kidnapping, new friendships, growing attraction, love and a HEA. A must read story and series.
He was bringing her back, he never chased a woman, women fell at his feet but for Sisi he would turn the world over to make her his!
Angel was one bad boy! He couldn’t admit even to himself that he was in love! He was sickly obsessed and addicted to her, no-one would fulfill any of her sexual needs but him especially not BOB!
This time around he would woo her and treat her like the queen she was, he knew she was independent and she didn’t need him but he needed her with every breath that he took!
Witty, sizzling, full of suspense, action, twisted with an element of danger this complements all three bad boy stories within the series and I love how characters from a previous series make an appearance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
C.D. Gorri has got me again with with the Jersey Bad Boys Books. I got pulled in with the appetizer of Nico’s book, followed through with the main course of Luc’s book and of course you cannot forget the dessert that is Angel’s book. All I have to say is that it was a fabulous three course meal of a series. C.D. Gorri just knows how to write to pull you into a book a story you name it she gets you enthralled with the outcome of it. And I was eagerly anticipating Angel‘s book and it was definitely worth the wait. I read this book in one sitting and it was worth it. If you haven’t discovered the Jersey Bad Boys series you need to. And I was so happy she included a special cameo of the Volkov wolves in the story. If you read any of her wild billionaire romance series, you know what I’m talking about.
Another steamy romance in the Jersey Bad Boys series that I couldn't put down!
Giselle is so sweet and relatable. I really enjoyed watching her self-esteem and confidence build throughout this book. Watching her really come into her power was inspiring! And who doesn't want a big, hulking man like Angel chasing them? The way he loves her... it's delicious!
I had to hold myself back from actually yelling at these two about how they need to communicate. I found that so relatable, though, because how many of us have just held back how we feel? Made assumptions about a situation that were wrong? And I loved that about this book... there's something everyone can connect to on some level.
Overall, I loved this book. I did not want to put it down! Steamy, hot, sexy!
Pitiful Lies by C.D.Gorri is book 3 in the Jersey Boys Trilogy. This story follows our MMC, Angel and our FMC, Giselle. Our MMC is apart of the MC world and is absolutely Obsessed with our FMC. She however in the beginning mistakes him for someone else resulting in her throwing a drink in his face, which we read about in book 1 that features her bestie, Anna, as he FMC. This book was PERFECTION just like the previous 2 stories. I will say that I loved the dynamics between them both throughout the story. I absolutely loved this trilogy!
Pitiful Lies by C.D. Gorri is narrated by Elle Sonali and Mick Fanning. Both narrators were Amazing and really brought the story to life. I really loved how their voices suck you in and make you feel like your watching the story unfold in real time!
C.D. Gorri has done it again! What an absolutely amazing read! I fell in love with the Jersey Bad Boys after reading the first book and knew I had to read the entire series. After meeting Angel and Giselle in Merciful Lies, I couldn't wait for their story. Angel absolutely worships the ground Geiselle walks on, and I absolutely loved it! These Vipers and their women have absolutely stolen my heart, and I will forever recommend this series. I also loved how C.D. Gorri brought in the men from Volkov Industries!!! I was honestly sad to see this series come to an end because I loved the men so much. I can't wait for what comes next!!
What do you get when you have a Viper who has a snake named Buffy? A very scary man...especially since the snake is a Mamba. This is the final story of Angel Fury and Giselle , who is best friends with Anna from Book 1. Giselle and Angel hooked up previously in the series, and Giselle has run off to be with her parents in Florida after a miscommunication. Angel goes and gets her, and the heat from these two is enough to melt butter.
Do I recommend this book? Yes. The ending was fantastic, and had a twist I didn't see coming. Spice level is about a 2.
Brilliant narration from Elle Sonali and Mick Fanning
Angel is the Viper’s Enforcer and has his pick of any woman he wants. knows he can have his pick of women he is a viper, an Enforcer. He never chased a woman, that is until Giselle . She is everything he wants and needs and she keeps saying no. All can change in an instant, seeing something causes her to start to loose her self belief. Can Angel keep Giselle and make sure she is safe. This book has so many twist you will need a neck brace. Action, suspense , chemistry that is off the charts, alpha all the way through. Brilliant listen brilliant read, brilliant character’s.
Pitiful Lies by C. D. Gorri is a fantastic bad boy romance. Elle Sonali and Mick Fanning did a fantastic job with the narration. Pitiful Lies is the third book in Jersey Bad Boys series. The story is thrilling in the good way, entertaining, enjoyable, steamy, hot, enemies to lovers, and more. What do you do when you threw a glass of beer at a stranger? But instead of getting mad, he find your feisty attitude a turn on. But you don’t like him or at least you don’t want to acknowledge it. Giselle is in this situation. Angel will show Giselle she wants him. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Highly recommend
Okay so tell me why this book starts with her throwing a drink in his face?
Giselle walks into a bar, thinks Angel is someone else who hurt her friend and immediately goes OFF. And instead of being mad…this man is intrigued. Like from that moment.... He’s locked in.
But their relationship at first was very surface level. It’s giving chemistry, tension, and a lot of “this is just physical” energy.
Meanwhile Giselle actually wants MORE than this. So when she sees something that makes it look like he’s messing around with someone else....she’s out. Gone. Disappears for months. No Postcard!
And here’s where it gets GOOD......Because Angel could have anyone. He's tattooed, powerful, and gives off Greek god energy…but he only wants HER.
And the whole time she doesn’t believe it. Giselle comes off confident, but internally she’s battling a lot of insecurity....especially about her body. (this makes her totally relatable for so many). She genuinely thinks she’s not his type because she’s curvy…and I’m sitting here like GIRL STFU that man is OBSESSED with you!!!!!!
And I actually loved that part of the story because it shows her having to unlearn those beliefs while he’s over here trying to prove, over and over, that she’s it for him.
So it turns into more than just a physical thing because you actually see them build something real.
There’s also some side plot drama with the whole mafia world going on but the heart of the story is really them figuring out how to trust each other.
And can we talk about the audiobook? The narrators, Elle Sonali and Mick Stone ATE with this one. They brought these characters alive through their interpretation of the emotion, the tension, and the passion... & it made everything hit even harder.
Thank you to C.D, Gorii for the gifted audiobook and e-book The Jersey Bad Boys The complete Trilogy. All thoughts are my own.
Confession: I love angsty romances.
QOTD: Do you prefer reading or audiobooks for emotional romance stories?
Angel was so strong and Sisi was too, but they needed each other. Too see both of them fall in love with the other was wonderful. I love the fact that you seamlessly blended the Wolves of Volkov in the end of this series. Two strong organizations, that came together, not to fight but to grow and become friends. Very strong women, who wasn't skinny girls, but thick and their men adored each of them. Great series.
C.D. Gorri Pitiful Lies (Jersey Bad Boys Book 3) Angel and Giselle Angel is obsessed with the beautiful, sexy Giselle since she threw a pint of beer in his face by mistake. He needs to know her, know everything about her, bring her to submission. Giselle is on board with that, until something happens, and self doubt sets in... I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love the sass of the MFC and the absolute obsession of the MMC! Both stubborn as well but it only added to the delicious angst! And of course, excellent spicy bits as always! Fun little tie-in at the end as well! So good and I’m so sad the series is over!
Ok, Angel has been my fave from the start! I love the big strong bad ones that just become a pile of mush for their women. It took him some time to communicate those feeling but WHEN HE GOT THERE. Oh maaaan. So worth it!!!
I 10/10 recommend this entire series! I love it so much!!
I loved this book, I loved the way Angel tries to win Sisi's heart after he realizes how stupid he was. He never took her on a date, to dinner, never did anything with her so she thinks she's just a play toy. Now he's wooing her and she doesn't know what to think. But someone is after the Vipers and Angel needs to protect what is his and Sisi is his. Another great read from this author, well written love story full of action and intrigue and I just loved it.
I love the sass of the MFC and the absolute obsession of the MMC! Both stubborn as well but it only added to the delicious angst! And of course, excellent spicy bits as always! Fun little tie-in at the end as well! So good and I’m so sad the series is over!
Loved this book and loved this series! What that Vipers won’t do for their women and family. Susi and Angel are so good together and love the development of their relationship. Also loved the tie in with the wolves from the billonares series.
Everything about this book is perfect. Action, perfect. Steamy scenes, perfect. Performance, perfect. These characters are so real. I love that this leading lady has a fuller figure and still knows how beautiful she is without being up her back side. A brilliant all round book.
Another great book in the Jersey boys series! I may have driven a little extra today to finish it 🤣 lots of intense moments and sweet ones too, I love the touch her and die vibe. Bummed that the series is over, moving on to a new one!
