Eli didn't want to notice his bombshell landlord. He was busy fixing his teeth, fixing his life. Their paths crossed only during one of her many trips to their shared laundry room. Stuck up and pretentious, the center of everyone's attraction, he was certain the feeling was mutual and she wanted nothing to do with him. Until he woke to find her in his apartment in the middle of the night, furiously rifling his cupboards.
Darby felt oblivious to Eli's attention. In fact she didn't even know his name. She wanted nothing more than the peace and serenity of her life, because she'd certainly paid a high enough price for it. She didn't remember breaking into Eli's apartment, just like she didn't remember all those trips to the laundry room. It wasn't that she enjoyed washing clothes, but what else was she supposed to do with all the blood?
The last thing Eli wanted was to become someone's keeper, especially not when his life was finally coming together, but Darby was more than alone, she was vulnerable. When a crisis put her in danger, he decided to be her friend. What was the worst that could happen? Murder, maybe. But certainly not love.
Vanessa Gray Bartal is primarily a foodie who began writing when she was unable to find people willing to pay her to eat. She believes everyone deserves a happily ever after and works hard to make it happen, even in a murder mystery.
She would love to hear from you. Check out her Facebook author page for upcoming new releases, and drop her a line while you're there!
Such a cute, quick read! I’m always amazed at how Vanessa can make me laugh in each of her books! I can’t wait for the next.
Eli is ready for love but the women he meets are…interesting. Darby has some crazy life events occurring. This book puts them together in a sweet, fun story!
Cute closed-door romantic mystery, third in a series but it works fine as a standalone. Eli and Darby were sweet together, and Eli had a fun comedic voice that was the best part of the book. Enough twists to keep me interested, with a few things I didn't see coming and a few I guessed wrong about. Quick and fun read.
After so many books I don't know how Vanessa keeps coming up with so many amazing books. I loved the characters, Eli and Darby. Vanessa is a talented writer. I have read every book she has on kindle because I know I won't be disappointed. I recommend this or any of her books. In
