Ex-Delta Force operator Breed arrives in Wambesa, a small country in Africa, tasked with evaluating security at a vital French cobalt mine.
He finds a situation which is anything but stable. The mine is ruthlessly exploiting the locals, the government is corrupt, and the people eagerly anticipate the return of Marien Tombaye, an exiled revolutionary.
Breed immediately understands this is a powder keg that’s ready to blow.
His worst fears are realized when Tombaye shows up with an elite cadre of guerrillas. The revolutionaries wipe out the French military garrison and brutally massacre most of the European population.
But some survive and desperately need help if they are to escape the war-torn country.
Breed teams up with a former SEAL, a beautiful African doctor, a village priest, and a former mercenary. Together, they will go to hell and back as they try to save this ragged band of refugees from Tombaye and his ruthless guerillas.
Blood Sport — Book 9 in the stunning Breed action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Jason Kasper, Jack Carr, and Lee Child.
Cameron Curtis has spent thirty years on trade floors as a trader and risk manager. He was on the trade floor when Saddam’s tanks rolled into Kuwait, when the air wars opened over Baghdad and Belgrade, and when the financial crisis swallowed the world. Having written fiction as a child, he is the author of the Breed action thriller series.
Blood Sport is actually a very interesting story about mining for metals and the countries involved. Cameron Curtis lets Breed his ex Delta force protagonist travel to a country in Africa to check out the security there and do an evaluation, soon he is attacked by local tribesmen and he realizes that all is not well there. Then it's a race to figure out what is going on and what will happen? The book is as well written as the others in the series but I think it's one of the best because of the plotline. I can recommend Curtis work for those that like a fast paced thriller and I thank Netgalley and Inkubator books for this copy.
Bloodsport by Cameron Curtis Breed Thrillers Book 9 I really did enjoy this book. I love this series. I do love Breed. Action from the start. I certainly didn't like Tombaye. I didn't trust Stein. I was rooting for Breed. lliked Cecile. I really do hope there is more to come. I don't want this series to end. 4*
Here is my review for Blood Sport by Cameron Curtis
I got into this book straight away as it reminded me of Jack Reacher and when he used to go it alone although Breed does tend to recruit people to help him solve the problems that come his way. It’s a very intense read with a lot of fighting involved and a lot of casualties as Tombaye, the rebel in all of this, has bought a mini army with him to fight the locals and they are more tooled up with newer weapons. It is a good read though, as Breed is ex-delta forces and he teams up with a former SEAL. Also, a former mercenary joins them and they have an african doctor with a village priest to keep them company. The plotting is excellent and it is a well written book from the start. It just draws you in and then you are hooked. The descriptive writing is good and the military knowledge is brilliant, obviously some research into weaponry has been done especially what armies might use on armoured vehicles. Research into the area may have been as well as there is a lot of detail describing the area too. I like these books as there is a bit more team involvement which is good and the stories they portray.

Terrorism 101—Don’t make war on Breed.

Breed is sent to a cobalt mine in Wambesa, Africa to evaluate security and is assigned a "very green" newbie analyst who is to "write" a report.
The French control the mine and surrounding town. It's not hard to imagine, slave labor, shanty town, rich people on the "hill' and the poor barely making a living. Upon arrival, Breed meets the head of security for the Am. ambassador-former seal Powell. He immediately sees there is not enough security and there's a rumor that Tombaye- local dissident is back.
He also meets the local beautiful doctor, a local priest and a former crippled now drunk mercenary. Breed doesn't have long to wait until the powder keg of a town explodes, the villigers go on a rampage and Breed & Powell must save whomever they can and get out as soon as possilbe. There is a story behind Tombaye and it's mostly revenge.
There are some extremely graphic torture scenes and the mystery of who backed Tombaye is revealed and it's not who you think. At most a 2.5 for me.
ten stars. Breed is being sent to Wambassa. CIA wants to know what is going on.
Breed is American mercenary under a firm that has CIA contract to find out if a revolutionary uprising is beginning to happen or will be shortly. He is given a FBI lady as his partner. She has never fired at anyone or been shot at so is worthless as a working partner. They meet the mercenary the french have hired as their lead security and Breed finds a likeness to himself. His new partner to watch his back. He is going to need him as things are getting hotter in his first day in town. The leader that is going to set off the war is here already. Now his job is to find the Americans left in area and get them out. Of course he winds up with 24 civilians of different nationalities mostly young young kids, a priest, a female doctor, a drunk, and two expats that can at least shoot The story is exciting and dynamic and full of surprises hope there is more about Breed.
I believe this is the second or third Breed novel I have read and I have to say the series continues to be incredibly enjoyable. Each novel can be read standalone but I do intend to read the whole series. This time Breed arrives in Wambesa, Africa to evaluate security. It sounds simple but it is anything but.
We quickly are thrust into the action and it does not let up for a second. I find the writing suits the genre perfectly. We have a brilliant mix of action, mystery and thriller. I also liked the somewhat ‘ragtag’ crew Breed joins forces with in this novel. Each has their own part to play which I enjoyed immensely.
Blood Sport is perfect for action thriller fans. It keeps you on the edge of your seat with a brutal realism and compelling characters. An easy five for me.
Thank you as always ZooLoos Book Tours, Author and Publisher for a copy to review. This review is left voluntarily and is completely honest.
This was a simple yet complex story of old and new. There was the old way of how things were done, and then the new way of trying very hard to come in and save people. I was brought in at how people are so non-trusting in some ways, yet life-trusting in others. Breed is a courageous person, and very giving to help others. I was also ashamed, of the level of people's racism and hatred because a person is one color or another or heaven forbid mixed, or they are from another place. It is really hard to believe that people are that way worldwide... why??? I would recommend this to those who like warfare in real-life, but not to younger readers. Thank you, Cameron Curtis, for a good story. I received a complimentary copy of this story and this is my honest review.
So first of all let me say that I haven't read any prior book and I felt it was really easy to get sucked into book 9 and understand what's going on.
Anything you need to know that happened in prior book, Cameron makes sure you understand.
From the moment you start reading, the story kicks off with action and you are just om a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
What struck me was the detail that Cameron writes, after all this story is about a revolution that destroys the French military in a small country in Africa... our main character Breed and Team have to fight their way out....
This is an utterly amazing book that at times, it quite haunting when you realise similar events have actually happened in real life.
Absolutely recommend to all miliary thriller lovers - you will be hooked!
I think this is the best of Breed so far as it shows how far is willing to go to protect what is right. In this one he doesn't go solo Breed has a couple of other characters joining him on a fast paced environment mission. The plot is complex yet so fast paced that I had to stop reading at times to comprehend all of what was happening. It combines the old school way of life with the more recent but sadly some things still haven't changed. If you enjoy fast paced action than this is the book for you! I have said it before and I will say it again this writing is just as good as Lee Childs (Jack Reacher). A high octane fuel pump thriller!
Breed is retired but is given an offer he just can't bring himself to refuse. From the moment he lands in Wambesa he knows he should have let it pass. With the help of Powell, a fellow ex forces, he is left to clear up the mess.
This is an all action, fast paced, gritty, blood soaked thriller. Full on from the first page to the last. The world building is excellent and the characters are intense and likeable. A thoroughly enjoyable story by a new to me author but one I will definitely be looking out for more from.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
As usual, the author delivers another high octane thriller. This time Breed is in Wambesa in Africa to evaluate the security where there is an important mining operation in progress. Things don't run smoothly and he finds himself in the middle of a sort of uprising.
Stein is also involved here but more from the sidelines this time although her involvement is key. If you like lots of action and thrills, sit back and enjoy. It's a terrific book to escape into for a while.

I really enjoyed this book, it completely gripped me and I couldn't put it down. It was well written with a compelling and gritty storyline and well developed characters some of which I was already familiar with such as Breed, as well as some new characters that were introduced and that I really liked.
The story flowed so well and this book had me turning pages at the speed of light. It was fast paced and full of tension with an atmosphere to match. The book was full of action right from the get go and it left me reeling, but in a good way.
As usual in this series, this book has very good characters and great action scenes, but this time the action is interrupted by a couple of unnecessary chapters with history. I disagree with several of the statements (like the Wagner history and Cobal/electrification), and the reaction of the locals is exaggerated (I actually was in an African country right after the transition), but this is fiction and should be treated as such. And entertaining fiction it is.
Breed is an ex-Delta Force operator that has traveled to a small country in Africa and has to evaluate security at a French cobalt mine. The situation is completely unstable. The mine is being exploiting by a corrupt government and things are about to get really ugly. Add to that a cartel of guerrillas is making it worse. Can Breed is going to have to jump in and stabilize this situation very quickly
I’m just going to say if you haven’t read any books in the series, then you are missing out. I stumbled across this series by Cameron Curtis after I had finished, no, devoured another fantastic read. If you’re like me, skeptisism is high when starting something new… Well you are in for a real treat with every book here. Can’t wait for the next in the series. Thanks for another series of late nights devouring this one!
Our hero, Breed, is one of a kind hired hand. His instincts mimic an alpha predator with a survival will equaling like that of the most feral of felines. Wrapped up in his flag, valor, and gallantry; making of him both a hero and gentleman. If you're interested in a story with relevance, heart, historical perspective, realism, and a touch of cynicism come read about the one true breed. You'll like'm.
This is the first book I’ve read by Cameron Curtis. It is the 9th book in a series of military thrillers. It is well written, and fast paced with detailed weaponry and brutal warfare violence. Not for the faint of heart but if this style of thriller appeals to you it is strongly recommended.
Thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an advanced reader copy
Absolutely on stop action from beginning to end. A great story which captures so many political aspects of our modern day life. I have never been disappointed with any of the books about Breed. A big thank you to the author Cameron Curtis and from me another well deserved 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A great, nonstop reverting story with depth and weight in my humble opinion. Super graphic and realistic, pulling no punches. A super real view of what happens when a suppressed and mistreated people get an opportunity. Absolutely carnage and mayhem.
Blood Sport was a very interesting and well written book about African country that had something that way the United States can use to generate nuclear power. The story was told so they mentioned a number of different independent African nations that were coming-of-age. In a nuclear society period.
I commend this author on the depth of description he goes to so his readers get the full picture. Breed is an Ex- Delta force operator (in other words he's a bada$$) an big trouble for the bad guys. Following Breed in his not so conventional life w/ it's unexpected twists and turns is thrilling.
