Rate this book
When Blake Eggar and her friends decided to spend a week at a lovely mountain resort in North Carolina, they never expected that their fun getaway would turn into a nightmare become real. Blake met a local man named Craig to whom she was attracted and, against her better judgment, she agreed to accompany him on a camping trip through the national forest. Craig spoke enthusiastically about a special place he wanted her to see, a place where the beauty of nature would be overwhelming and inspirational, akin to a spiritual awakening. But what was described as an easy hike and a one-night trip turned into an arduous trek through the forest and into the highlands that had Blake began suspecting that she might have misread Craig's intentions. When they finally reached their destination atop a plateau in the heart of the mountains, her worst fears were realized. From that point forward she was thrust into a desperate struggle for survival against the dangers posed both by man and by the natural world, forcing her to tap into her inner strength in order to escape the woods before she became a permanent part of the wild landscape.
