Minecraft: House of Horrors is already the twenty-first official book in the Minecraft series. The series is mainly aimed at younger Minecraft fans, yet that does not mean the books cannot be enjoyable for older readers as well. This one is a solid entry. It is not something that will make you shout from the rooftops, but it is certainly far from disappointing.
The story follows Amy, who goes after her brother after he gets lost during one of his usual wild adventures. While searching for him, she begins to realise that she has more courage and resourcefulness than she ever expected. Most of the story unfolds inside a house called Glory's Haven. Strange things take place there, and everything carries a hint of something suspicious. Amy must figure out what is behind it all and why the place feels so unsettling.
Jessica Almasy narrates the audiobook. She has voiced several Minecraft books before, and her experience shows. Her reading fits this world comfortably and brings a familiar warmth to the story. The typical music and sound effects return as well, creating that cosy, recognisable atmosphere that fans of the series will instantly settle into.
There is not much more I can add without wandering into spoiler territory. It is simply a pleasant adventure set entirely within the Minecraft universe and told from the perspective of someone who lives inside that world. No real world elements appear here. It is a neat little book, easy to listen to and satisfying if you enjoy stories from the Minecraft realm.
I really enjoyed this book in the minecraft series. There some things that is not like the game itself - it includes woodland mansion and phantoms but the story is different than actual game play. Even with that it was a very interesting read and I am looking forward to the next minecraft novel.
The redemption was not necessary, though the fact that they capitalized on the house after the resolution was kind funny, even though it is kind of like Consumerist Propaganda.
