Patricia soon finds herself on a journey of self-discovery where truths are unveiled, lies are revealed, and that trusting someone close to her had been a mistake.
Will Patricia be able to return to her perfect world in New York after confronting her past, or will everything be forever changed?
When I received an ARC of this book from Ms Grant I was so excited to read it. You see, I LOVED all her other books and just knew I would love this one. There are some authors you buy books from without even reading what they are about. And this is one of those books.
A page turner, a heartwarming story and well, "no spoilers here"...thats all I will reveal. The story about this family of four - Bryce, Patti (yes I am calling her Patti) and their children Savannah and Jewel makes you feel like they are the people next door. You know them and only wish them the best.
A wonderfully written book that will keep you turning the pages. Bryce and Patricia both had successful careers until Bryce decides to leave his wife after a business deal goes terribly wrong. He realizes he doesn't like the wealthy lifestyle or the person he is any longer. He moves out of the big city and buys a farm in Connecticut. Patricia remains in New York with their two daughters, who spends one weekend a month on the farm with Bryce, much to Patricia's dismay.
Patricia, who works relentlessly at her law and believes she has everything she could ever want, until something unexpected happens leaving her no choice but to accept her ex- husband's help. Bryce finds a letter that Patricia had received then confronts her about it. When Patricia answers Bryce's questions he realizes that there is alot he never really knew about her.
Patricia, Bryce, and their daughters go to Alaska. Will Patricia change her attitude about her life and the person she is? How will her relationship with her daughter's and Bryce change? I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out!
I absolutely loved this story. My emotions were all over the place.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Tina Hogan Grant is one of my most recommended authors. Her stories are enjoyable with great characters, heartwarming, life lessons, and happy endings. Secrets Told is no exception. Tina has woven a great story and left a perfect lead in to a book 2. Thank you, Tina Hogan Grant, for the gift of an ARC.
I enjoyed this book. At first, the main character, Patricia was the most annoying, self-centered person on earth. She had worked her way up to a position of power in NYC - no small feat - and was enjoying what she thought was the good life - money, power and prestige. Five years earlier, her husband became disillusioned with this hedonistic life and moved to a farm in Connecticut. Patricia wants only the best for her daughters which she thinks is making them do ballet and piano when they'd rather be outside at their father's farm. She has no clue about them or actually about herself. She receives a letter that her father has passed away and that is the catalyst for her to take a second look. Recommended.
Review: “Secrets Told” by Tina Hogan Grant High powered Manhattan attorney, Patricia believes in only the best for everything in life. Her daughters, Savannah and Jewel, attend the most elitist private school, have to show their cultural side through music and ballet lessons; they can’t do any common things like playing cards or do outdoor activities. Patricia thinks her parenting methods to raise “Stepford” children is shared by her handsome English successful corporate husband, Bryce. However, after a traumatic incident, Bryce desires the simple life and gives up the New York City job and penthouse; begging Patricia to join him but she refuses. He moves to the Connecticut countryside joined by his brother, Darren to run a farm. One a month, his daughters experience the outdoors, farm life, and fishing while00 appalling Patricia that the girls are exposed to dirty activities; even though Savannah and Jewel love the horses and their canine best friends Goldie and Jack. The battle is constant with Bryce to break Patricia’s molding that has been instilled by her Aunt Cassie. The shock of being notified by a ghostly past propels Patricia into a self-destructive accident that she must accept assistance from others. Will Patricia be able to face her demons? Tina Hogan Grant’s “Secrets Told” tackles grief, denial, retribution, and repentance. This reader found the descriptions of the New York City skyline and Alaskan wilderness were done in a compelling manner that gave me the desire to travel. Patricia is forced to make amends with the true events of childhood or loose her children. I highly recommend this “The Devil Wears Prada” meets “Steel Magnolia” 5-Star novel. Can Bryce’s compassion sway Patricia’s evil ways or will she forever live on the dark side alone?
As I read the beginning chapters of Secrets Told by Tina Hogan Grant, I was certain her main character was a carbon copy of Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada. Patricia Levenick’s complete focus on her job (this one as the head of her own law firm in Manhattan) reminded me of how everyone at the workplace feared upsetting their workaholic boss. Patricia even had two daughters, like Miranda. Ones she kept busy with ballet lessons, horseback riding lessons and any other activity that would not interfere with the needs of her law firm. I knew where this story was going.
Then suddenly, the twist. Patricia’s reaction to the letter she receives from a lawyer back in her hometown, changes everything. Initially, she was not going to let confronting her past change her lifestyle, or even slow it down long enough to admit she left a very different existence far from the hustle and bustle of New York City.
With the insistence of her ex-husband, Bryce, that their daughters have a right to know who she really is, she agrees to take the family back long enough to satisfy his curiosity about what her childhood was really like. Their surprising knowledge of her life on the water and the discovery of a grandfather they never knew they had, brings the entire family to a new high.
Alaska becomes its own character as they explore the amazing countryside and uncover the real Pattie. Grant reveals a memorable picture of the love of fishing in a nearly perfect world. You should spend the time to open these pages and enjoy this story.
Wow! What a page turner! This book not only flowed so smoothly, it sucks you in right from the beginning. Tina has nailed it again! It’s filled with greed, grief, heartache, and secrets. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and not wanting to put the book down!
Patricia, a Criminal Defense Attorney, with her own law firm has lost all sense of reality. Everything has to be perfect. She comes off in the beginning as very snobby and stuck up. Her ex, Bryce (who got tired of that life) owns a Dairy Farm. He is very happy. They have two daughters whom Bryce sees once a month. They get to enjoy their childhood when they are with their dad, let’s put it that way.
A letter from an Attorney in Alaska, where Patricia’s parents lived, has shocked her. She wasn’t prepared for what it said. Let’s put it this way, someone in her life is why she hasn’t been living in Alaska. When an unfortunate event happens to Patricia and Bryce finds out about the letter, while at her office, he demands answers. He feels his daughters deserve to know her side of the family. A side she hasn’t told them about. She’s very reluctant, but agrees to head to Alaska with him and the girls.
Wait til you see what happens in Alaska! Will it change Patricia or keep her the same snobby woman she is? Will it bring her closer to Bryce once again and to her girls? All I can say is holy mackerel! The ending had me in tears, I couldn’t believe what I was reading and what was happening. You won’t want to miss a single moment trust me!
Secrets Told is a wonderfully written story by Tina Hogan Grant. It is about Patricia, her ex-husband Bryce, & their daughters, Savannah & Jewel. It takes place in the hustle & bustle of New York City (Patricia), on the busy, but relaxed nature of a farm (Bryce), & in beautiful Alaska. When a letter arrives for Patricia from Alaska, it disrupts her perfect, well organized life. And opens up a can of worms that she would just as soon have left closed. When Bryce finds out about the letter, he talks her into going to Alaska. Not only will Patricia be going, but so will Bryce & their two daughters. Imagine the fun that will bring about! They arrive in Alaska, with its gorgeous vistas, & the rustic cabin that was Patricia’s father’s. The past rushes back to Patricia, this is where she grew up, & she realizes it was a much better life than what she has now. Being in the peacefulness at her childhood home, brings about a change in Patricia. It awakens the real personality of Patricia, Patti as she was known. She is amenable to these changes & is happy with them. Now the family has a few life changing decisions to make. Will they choose prudently, with good judgment for all? The decision they make may, or may not, surprise you.
Secrets Told was awesomely written & one of Tina Hogan Grant’s best works so far. Once started, I could not put it down & I enjoyed it immensely! Note to Tina: this would make a perfect first book in a series.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my unbiased opinions, which are all my own.

Secrets Told is about Patricia Levenick, a beautiful, successful, New York attorney. She has two daughters Savannah and Jewel. Her ex-husband Bryce, who after their divorce, buys a farm and moves to Connecticut. Bryce sees his daughters once a month and takes them for the weekend to his farm. The girls love everything about the farm much to Patricia's dismay. Patricia hates the fact her daughters enjoy being at the farm so much. She was raised by an aunt and brainwashed into believing her childhood with her father was bad because he was a fisherman. The aunt made her believe in order to be wealthy, successful and have the perfect life she must be selfish, have desires for wealth, power and possess perfection. Patricia becomes snobby, uncaring and patronizing. She believes she is superior. One day Patricia gets a letter from an attorney in Alaska that changes her entire life. The letter begins the journey for Patricia to uncover a secret that was long buried, and the truth is revealed what Patricia has been brainwashed to forget. Patricia, Bryce and their daughters go to Hope, Alaska. What they discover changes all their lives. Secrets always come out eventually. I can't wait for more. Tina Hogan Grant never disappoints.
The heartwarming and emotional story of a wealthy couple who have lost sight of what’s most important in their lives. Bryce leaves his wife after he gets a wakeup call regarding a past business deal he made and comes to hate his lavish lifestyle and the man it had changed him into. Their two daughters remain with Patricia, and he only gets to see them one weekend a month at his farm in Connecticut, where Patricia hates having them go because she feels it’s an embarrassment to her elite status.
She stays busy with her work, and has everything she’s ever wanted, and then some, until an unforeseen event leaves her briefly needing her ex-husband’s help. During that time, Bryce uncovers a letter that had arrived and calls her out about it. Will she finally be able to tell Bryce and her daughters about the secrets she’s been keeping? Will it make a difference in her life, their lives? Only time will tell when Bryce forces her to confront her past.
I loved this story and will admit that I found tears rolling down my face a few times toward the end of the book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
WOW!!! I have truly come to enjoy reading books by Tina Hogan Grant and this one is no exception. It’s a wonderful story set both in New York and beautiful Alaska.
Patricia a super ambitious lawyer who lives with her two daughters in New York City. She was married and got divorced from Bryce five years ago who now lives on a farmhouse in Connecticut. They both have different views on life and in bringing up their daughters Savannah and Jewel. There are a lot of secrets Patricia has been keeping from everyone including Bryce and her girls.
She takes a fall and ends up in the hospital and Bryce comes to help her out. He comes across a letter which has him questioning about Patricia’s past and everything she has been hiding for years.
The family takes a trip to Alaska to learn about the buried past. Will the secrets be revealed and Patricia’s life be changed forever? To learn what life has is in store for Patricia do not miss this page turner.
I received the ARC from the author and all the opinions are my own. Tina I truly devoured this beautiful heartwarming story.
Patricia and Bryce Levenick were living the dream in New York: money, connections, two beautiful daughters. Did I mention money? That’s all that Patricia cares about—that and the high-status possessions (exclusively in one color) it can buy, as a result of her success as an attorney. Bryce left New York when he discovered that the compromises he was making for that success were too great; now the couple is divorced and mired in conflict over how to raise the daughters they both love. Bryce wants them to wear jeans on his dairy farm and to eat the fish they catch. Patrice wouldn’t let them wear jeans if the choice were going naked in the Central Park that her apartment overlooks. But Patricia has a secret, and when a letter arrives with surprising news, Patricia’s carefully constructed life of chauffeurs and nannies begins to unravel. Children internalize the values of their parents, and those values can be difficult to shake in later life. Patricia and Bryce’s daughters get a second chance in this touching novel. May all the children who need one be similarly blessed.
Beautifully written story of Bryce and Patricia. Divorced with two daughters, they divorced when Bryce realized he hated corporate life, and so he moved to the country and started a dairy farm. Sharing the daughters, they were doing fine until Patricia falls in her office while the girls were at the farm with Dad for the weekend. Unable to contact her, Bryce has security check on her. Finding her on floor bleeding, they call 911. Before she fell, Patricia had just opened a letter from a lawyer telling her about her father's death, requesting she contact them about his estate. This comes as a surprise as Bryce thought her dad died before they met. He decides it would be best if they all go to Alaska and see where she grew up and tell the girls about her history... Why she left Alaska and why... While showing Bryce and her girls, she realizes how much she missed leaving her father and her history.. How she changes and what she learns helps make this story so memorable.

A deeply moving story of ambition, secrets, and betrayal. Patricia left home at 18, and headed to New York City, wanting more out of life. Now at 39, she owns the most successful, and sought after, law firm on the east coast. That success, gives her all the luxuries money can buy. She is happy, has two beautiful daughters, and a good relationship with her ex-husband, who still loves her, but traded the greed of corporate America and New York City, for a farm in Connecticut. Patricia has it all, until ambition, secrets, betrayal, and the past she left behind come calling. I felt every bit of this story. I closed the cover with a tear running down my cheek. I highly recommend it.

Secrets Told by Tina Hogan Grant This is a great book!! It is the story of Patricia and Bryce and their two children, Savannah and Jewel. More importantly, it is the story of love, family, roots, redemption and deception. Read this story and discover how someone you love can distort your perception of reality for their own selfish reasons. You will learn about true love and family and how good old fashioned values can put everything into perspective. As always, Ms. Grant manages to put some of her love of the water, fishing and boating into the story. Be careful what you wish for. Everything has a cost. Are you willing to pay the price?
I just love Tina Hogan Grant's books. They are always a page turner. Tina's books are about family which are heartwarming and exciting to read. Her books will make you laugh, cry and feel all kinds of emotions all at the same time. I loved the settings because I grew up in NY (however, I grew up in Northern NY) and I lived in Alaska for four years, so I really enjoyed this story. I love how her stories continue with the fishing theme and her love of fishing. I was so excited to read this and it didn't disappoint. It was so exciting and such a page turner. Some secrets can hurt others.
The past always seems to find a way to come out. Sometimes the secrets need to be told.
This book is a fast read only because you won't want to put it down. Tina Hogan-Grant's books are always a delightful read and wonderful palette cleanser for your in a book slump or need something different mood. This story proves money isn't everything and does not buy happiness and family. Patricia realizes this, but is it too late? Can her life still be what she truly wants it to be? Wonderful story about a big time lawyer, her ex husband who was also a big shot corporate man now turned farmer, and their two girls. When an unexpected loss from a hidden past is revealed, the family reunites to discover happiness in a more simple lifestyle, remembered joy in being one’s true self & the real definition of a wealthy & successful life. Tina Hogan Grant has delivered another wonderful story with characters that pull-you-in until the end. I finish every one of her books with a Smile, a Sigh, and an excitement to Share it with others.
Patricia and Bryce have two wonderful daughters. And both of them have successful high paying careers. Bryce has had enough! Patricia thinks everything is fine the way it is! They can’t agree on how to move on with their life so divorce was inevitable.
Bryce built a simple life and the girls love it. Patricia still wants the high-powered high pay career and the girls hate it. You are definitely going to want to read this book and see how it all turns out.
And of course, the book has fishing in it.
Thank you, Tina for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Tina Hogan Grant-Yes, she accomplished it again. As with most of her books, you are sucked in from the beginning and don’t want to stop reading until the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the secret that the character Patricia found out takes the reader on a page turning journey. Bryce and their two daughters find out about the letter and want to know the truth. It’s off to Alaska for Patricia to reveal a side of her family she doesn’t speak about. Will all the questions be answered? What is this Secret? This is a thrilling book that you won’t want to put down. Kudos to Tina!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book with so many memorable characters. Patricia is divorced and a workaholic- she lives in New York and is very particular about her life. While her ex-husband had abandoned the lifestyle Patricia values, their two high-spirited daughters share time with their estranged parents. A single event and subsequent discovery changes their lives forever. But the discoveries continue throughout this heartwarming tale of sadness, family separation and untold secrets. This wonderful read took me to a different world! Looking forward to more from this author!
What a wonderful, beautiful, eye opening book. Patricia and Bryce have been divorced for 5 years, and never see eye to eye when it comes to their two daughters or anything else. Bryce realizes that he doesn’t even know the woman he was once married to, and her entire life has been a lie. Perhaps she doesn’t even know who she is. When secrets are told, you can find out the truth and you can come home to where you belong
You will enjoy this heartwarming story. Its a secret Patricia has kept for many years and it accidentally found out by her ex husband after Patricia has an accident and he found some paperwork. They divorced because Patricia loves the high power life and Bryce appreciates the simple like and it appears their daughters prefer it too. After the secret is found and told ........well you will just need to read the book and find out.
Two young girls visit Alaska. One finds the love of her life and stays behind. This is the story of her daughter, who made the reverse trip & left Alaska as soon as she could. When her father passed, she was forced to face the truth about who she was, how she lived her life, and how she wanted to live her future.
In inimitable Tina Hogan Grant style, Secrets Told, the first in the author’s Secret series, is a tale of deception, redemption, forgiveness, and the enduring bonds of family. Fans of Ms. Grant are sure to be captivated by the novel’s well-drawn characters, the events that splinter them, and the circumstances that make them whole again. Another winner from Tina Hogan Grant!
I enjoyed this book. I found Patricia to be a self-centered woman who wanted to have everything perfect to please the elites she kept up with. After an accident and finding out some bad news, her ex-husband forces her to face the news head on for the sake of their children. Patricia then goes on a journey to discover who she was.
“Secrets Told” had me memorized right from the beginning to end! It has secrets, heartfelt moments, loving moments, and heartache. I didn’t want it to end and that is why it deserves all five stars and more!!!
