They had been bred as the perfect killing machines. Mutant warriors—vicious, fearless... and unstoppable. Genetically designed soldiers created to triumph on the battlefields of the 21st century.
But something has gone wrong... horribly wrong. The mutant servants have revolted. The Earth has caught fire—and the flames are fed by the blood of the one-time masters.
Now a small band of human rebels is the last hope of the besieged planet. Courageous guerilla fighters, they must prevent the unthinkable, the ultimate nightmare: the total annihilation of mankind!
If Troma did books, this would be their masterpiece. Rampant blood, gore, sex, weapons, mayhem & appendages in places they should not be…all wrapped up in classic 90’s shtick. I think this would be classified as sci-fi, which I don’t really *do,* but it was fun and action-packed which kept my attention. There’s more to the series, so I might have to track them down. Pretty rare, but recommended for those who love complete & utter detritus as much as I do. 🚮🖤
Mutants Amok was the first of a series that lasted for five volumes written primarily by David Bischoff under the pseudonym Mark Grant. (The novel is ironically dedicated to Bischoff.) It's a schlocky sex and violence series, set in a post-apocalyptic world in which genetically manipulated super soldiers have revolted and set out to destroy their human overlords. It's like a Troma film where the gory details are so over-the-top that they're amusing but lacking the subtlety and soft-touch finesse of films like, say, The Toxic Avenger. In this one we meet the evil BrainGeneral Torx, the rebel Maximillian Turkel, Jack Bender, and many other unlikely characters who squabble over what's left of the Earth. The story delivers what the cover promises.
This book could've been called "Horn Dogs Amok" Yes there is Mutant action, but in the middle of this book it veers off a bit. Our hero, Max Turkel watches, then teaches a human slave how to have oral sex. All in a treehouse. Don't get me wrong, I'm not adverse to this kind of thing, but I was hoping for a little more adventure.
We learn about the fate of the humans in flashback as the story unfolds. This makes the story flow a little better for me. We don't get bogged down for half a book with back story. My problem with this series is that it ends in a cliffhanger. Which means now I have to find book #2 if I want to know what happens.
