CRINGE! This book is nothing but the same repetitive storyline we’ve already read hundreds of times.
Characters:
Dur-e-Maknoon (the FL): Far too cringe. She’s supposed to be 19, yet behaves like a child. She prays five times a day, wears an abaya whenever she leaves the house, and constantly asks Allah, “Allah, are You upset with me?” — but at the same time she hugs and kisses her cousin (who is na-mehram) on the forehead as if that’s completely normal. The inconsistency was just… annoying.
Huda & Salar (side couple): Honestly, I kept reading only because of them.
Arman: Not much to say — he was okay, but also had his “cringe” moments.
Hamid & Mishi: They couldn’t have children, but magically, the second they apologized to the FL, Mishi gets pregnant. Very unrealistic and poorly written.
Final thoughts: Unoriginal, predictable, and often cringe-worthy. If it weren’t for the side couple, I would’ve DNF’d early on. Definitely not a book I’d recommend unless you’re looking for the same recycled tropes again.
Being brutally honest – I enjoyed this book, laughed a lot… but mostly because of the side couple. 😂 The main couple was just OKAY. But overall, this book felt like an Indian drama where you’re just here for the romance and everything else is pointless or cringey 😂. So yeah, if you’re reading just for fun, go ahead, but this book doesn’t fit any standard of Urdu literature. Keep this thing in mind while reading, guys. 💀
