Am a huge fan of both Arkham Horror & the game Mansions of Madness. I normally can't turn away from reading/listening to one of these stories while enjoying seeing which investigators from the game make their appearance in the story, in this one its Trish Scarborough (the Spy). Even with the amazing job Graphic Audio does in adapting books I simply just couldn't get into this story. The dialogue was almost painful & the plot just seemed really weak. I do like that the author brought back both characters from "Wrath of N'Kai" but there's just something about them that make it difficult to connect with these characters. Maybe someone else that knows less about the world of Arkham Horror would enjoy this story more.
It’s a race against time and monsters as Alessandra Zorzi and her apprentice Pepper Kelly join forces with their friends and sometime enemies to fight ghouls and hellish creatures and prevent evil from taking over the earth. This paranormal laden adventure will delight fans of horror fiction.
The talented full cast of Graphic Audio http://www.graphicaudio.net put on a good show complete wih ghoulish sounds, creepy music, and more.
This early 20th century Pulp Fiction / Noir is fun to listen to but not my standard fare. I'll probably skip the other books in this series.
The books in the series with the Countess are the better in my opinion. However, I did notice there were a lot of phrases used in this adaption that are common today but I doubt they would have been used in the same way in 1920
