Zion lived on the edge. He was the ultimate bachelor -- he avoided relationships, loved one-night-stands, and filled every moment with excitement. But then he met Amantha, who changed that.
Can Zion settle down? If so, will he and Amantha overcome the obstacles that block their path?

The Horsemen come together in Book 5 of this series. Prior to their reunion, the books are their individual stories before the knowledge returns that they're The Horsemen.
This book can be read as a standalone, though there is reference to Book 5 at the end.
TWs listed at the beginning of the book (can be seen using the "Look inside" feature)
A.D. Craig writes bold, emotional romance with heart, heat, and a hint of rebellion. Whether it’s rockstars, demons, or broken heroes, her stories always feature unforgettable characters, fierce love, and the kind of tension you can’t look away from. This is the first book of A.D. Craig's Four Horsemen Series, which is a 5 book series. In this the first book, we have the chance to meet the first Horsemen, the Horsemen of War. So, let's dive right in.
We have our MMC Zion. He lives his life on the edge. He's addicted to adrenaline and will do anything for his next high. He's also the ultimate bachelor and has sworn off marriage and settling down with just one woman.
Then there is our FMC Amantha. She is a sweet, kind, caring, and down to earth woman who wants nothing to do with play boy, one night stand Zion.
Our final major character is Amantha's nephew, who she is raising named Neo. He's an awesome kid who loves his aunt, and Zion ends up loving Neo as well. Neo is a great kid for being a teenager, and hopefully, we get to see more of him in the future.
YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!!! Know your triggers and read the trigger warnings.
I loved watching Zion and Amantha's relationship start as co-workers, then to friends, and slow build up to more. You could feel their chemistry from the very beginning, but you could also tell that Amantha didn't want to bring just anyone in who would end up leaving and hurting Neo.
This book is the backstory of the Horseman of War, so we know already that something is going to happen to trigger Zion and turn him into that Horseman. It is going to be interesting to read book 5 and see what happens when all the horsemen are reunited again.
The way this novella ends, the cliffhanger and how abrupt it is, it is a bit crazy. I can't wait for book 5 to come out so I can find out what happened and see how it all ends. This book was really well done, and I just loved it. A.D. Craig has outdone herself again. This has just enough spice, and I love that it's graphic but not overly graphic.
War: Book #1 of The Four Horsemen is a good quick story.
I enjoyed reading about Zion and his carefree adrenaline junkie life! He likes to have one night stands and does not want to settle down.
He meets Amantha, and they hit it off as friends. They progess into friends with benefits and have amazing chemistry. He has never been with someone more than once. Something special about Amantha. They have funny nicknames for each other.
Amantha is raising her nephew Neo, and he gets along with Zion. I loved their dynamic and was happy where their story was headed. The ending was left on a cliffhanger but will be resolved in book 5. I can't wait to read more!!
This is the backstory to the Horseman War. We meet Zion and see him develop his relationship with Amantha. They have a fun and carefree friendship with each other which was fun to read. They had some creative nicknames for each other as well. It was a fun backstory for Zion and I loved seeing him and Amantha build a friendship and turn it into something more.
The ending l leaves you in an unexpected way but it will all get resolved in book five when we have all the Horsemen meet up.
In "War," the first installment of the Four Horsemen series, Zion stands out as a captivating character whose development keeps readers engaged. Zion's emotional growth throughout the story is a testament to the author's skillful character building. From the beginning, Zion displays a complexity that makes him both relatable and intriguing, drawing readers into his journey. One of the most delightful aspects of the novel is the banter between Zion and Amantha. The cliffhanger is skillfully crafted, ensuring that readers are left eager for the next installment.

2. War: Book #1 of The Four Horsemen by A.D. Craig
genres: romance ranking: a hug, a comfort read that fed my soul 7.5/10
the first line: “I leaned across the middle console to push open the passenger door.”
notes:
-- the mfc is in a wheelchair after a car accident; -- the mfc is raising her best friend's kid after his parents die; -- the mmc is a thrill seeker, who doesn't sleep with the same woman twice, but turns into a golden retriever boyfriend, caring and gentle; -- they have a cute bet, he is trying to guess her last name
Quick, well written excellent read. Loved the banter between the lead characters. Amantha starts a new job after a car accident, where she meets playboy Zion, who loves to chase adrenaline highs, and refuses to settle down. Whereas Amantha lives her life settled and controlled, due to the responsibilities she has in her life. From that first meeting both their lives are about to change... Decent plot, 5/5 Spice 3/5 Cant wait to read more!
This book was well written with good banter and balance of spice between our MCs, Zion and Amantha. This is the start of a series about the four horseman. There is a cliffhanger that took the book on a 180, that will be revisited in the 5th book once we meet all the horseman. I do think that this book would be better suited as a prequel to be read after the 5th book/story with all four horseman, when we become curious of their backstories. Overall, it was a good book though.
The cliff hanger at the end!!! I love the chemistry between the 2 main characters!!! The bad boy who will never settle down finally finds his person and the girl who has taken on the responsibility of being a mom to her friends son!!! Who couldn’t ask for a better love story but why the cliff hanger!!!! I need to know more haha

Z is a player - never the same lay twice until he meets her. They kind of just happen in a cute way, going from friends to benefits to gf/bf. He is even good with her teenage "nephew". The cliffhanger though - idk what to think there 😭 I feel like it's bad especially because of their conversations - I need answer 🤣
I definitely wasn't expecting the book to go in the direction that it did. I understand this is basically a backstory of the MMC but it just confused me, especially that ending. I mean, it was a good book but just confusing.
This is a great first book in the series and I can't wait for more especially with the cliffhanger at the end! Amantha and Zion's relationship is sweet especially how they both care for Neo. Please mind the trigger warnings!
