Journey through Hallowed Wars: Three Ruined Realms, a world crafted with exclusive illustrations and immersive worldbuilding, where ancient powers clash for sovereignty.
Everything has its own balance, and it is the sole duty of the Divine Order of the Orphys Knights to maintain it.
Yet the Order is failing.
The Divines have forever ruled and bestowed upon the Mortal Realm Their blessing and grace, however, humans had always counted on the Divine Order and its Ancient creatures to protect them and keep the peace between the kingdoms. Yet when the Order loses its influence and power alongside its unique creatures, people do not seem to notice that their times of peace and grace are near their end. And that without the Order and its Knights, dying crops and surging illnesses will be the least of their worries.
As heir to the throne, Kayden is set to revive the Order and bring back its roots; to find the Ancient creatures that for decades have their fates unknown. Yet what begins as Kayden's own wishes and dreams to save a kingdom soon becomes the Divines’ own will when the fate of the entire Mortal Realm comes into play. Kayden is tasked to reunite the new Knights and their Ancients, however, the Divines do not inform how much time the Order has to do so. All Kayden knows is that time is not favoring them mortals and once calamity strikes, there will be nothing left to save.
The Divines’ will is absolute, yet will Kayden be able to fulfill it before everything ends?

It's a fairly standard epic fantasy, with someone who has insight into the devastation of humanity trying to bring together a group of warriors who would have the ability to commune with the Ancient Beasts and fight against the forces of evil. But it does the usual really well. The recruiting seems like it will be spread across multiple novels, so we can focus on our first two guys: a cowardly kid from the slums and a nobleman with a thing against magic of all kinds. Neither wanted to be chosen, but they're stuck with the job. You really get into their past and their motivations, so even when they can be insufferable, you still want to know what happens next. Kayden, as the new leader of the Order doing the recruiting, is fairly sympathetic as she tries to prepare them and the common people without panicking them; she has the gift/curse of future sight, literally blinded when she sees a vision of the end of the world, and it looks pretty bleak. She's fighting nonetheless, like all good protagonists do. The story ends with a dramatic cliffhanger-no spoilers- that left my jaw on the floor. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it doesn't need to. I can't wait for the next book.
As a mother who is finally seeing her child for the first time, I have the duty to give it a kiss and lots of love. Especially when the child is so young, and still needs to explore and find its place in this vast world. (⺣•͈ •͈⺣)♡

So here is a delicious butter cookies recipe y'all can try at home! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
I wish I could say this is an old family recipe that has been passed down by generations...alas, it is not. I got on the Internet. Sorry. I do have a delicious carrot cake family recipe, however, that I might be willing to share if asked. Yet I have a special addition to the butter cookies!
PUMPKIN SPICE
Put some on the dough and more than some on the topping. Of course, this is based on my own childlike unique taste. Still, perhaps some of you may find the same beauty and grace in the pumpkin spice I did.
Ingredients
The Dough 2 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup butter, cold 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/3 cup granulated sugar 1 medium-sized egg a pinch of salt
The Topping (optional, yet highly recommended) 1/2 cup powdered sugar 2 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice or water sprinkles for decorating
Instructions 1. Add the flour, butter, sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and egg into a large bowl. Use your hands to knead the dough until the dough forms a ball (this takes around 5 minutes). 2. Wrap the ball of dough in cling film and place it in the fridge for 30 minutes. 3. After the 30 minutes are up, remove the dough from the fridge. Also preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line your baking sheets with parchment paper. 4. Sprinkle flour onto a smooth surface and roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is approximately 3/8 inch thin. Use your cookie cutters to cut out the cookies and place them on the parchment paper. Once you've used up the rolled out dough, gather the leftovers, form another ball, roll it out again, and cut more cookies. Repeat the process until you have used up all the dough. 5. Bake your cookies in the middle rack of your oven for around 10-12 minutes until the cookies are lightly golden brown along the edges. Depending on your oven and how thick your cookies are, your baking time might be slightly shorter or longer. 6. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for around 5 minutes. Then remove the parchment paper with the cookies on it from the baking sheet and let the cookies cool fully.
As a big fantasy fan, I'm always searching new and old series that I can get hooked on. I'll admit that I'm not the most picky reader, yet there are things I need to have a good time. And I'm happy to say, this book hits all the good spots for me.
Characters: The author put a lot of effort into writing the characters POVs, and it shows. Every POV has a distinct voice and I could always tell which character was narrating by their tone alone. Leander and Bash were, by far, my favorites to read. The characterization is great, the arcs are thrilling, fun to read, and complement the themes of the story itself. This is a true character-driven story.
Worldbuilding: It has plenty. Enough to get me really pumped up to read the following books in the series. There is a lot of unique details and lore, like the journal entries between chapters, that really help flesh out the world. I never felt there were infodumps, not even when explaining the magic system, and the more I read the more I loved and was curious about the world this story was set in. A really great job here.
Plot: The real plot takes some time to kick in, around chapter 3-4, but once it did I was invested man. The slower pacing at the beginning helped flesh out the world and the worldbuilding and the characters too, so it was still fun to me as I read the scenes and chapters until the spoiler alert . I was not at all expecting that ending, and it left a great hook for book II.
Illustrations: By this point, I was just super happy as a fantasy fan to see Illustrations of the scenes. All four of them look awesome to me. Wish I could draw like that.
Anyway, I loved the book and am now waiting for the next one!
Ann W. T has written a wonderful, fresh fantasy. The world-building is amazing with the Ancients, the Sight, and the Divine Order, not to mention the all the magic involved. There are some hints of romance as well as the chivalry of the knights to add ambience and layers to the unfolding story. I am a big fantasy lover and am happy to say I was surprised by some of the twists in the story! The characterization is fantastic, as each character has their own voice that clearly comes through. Bash was my favorite character as I felt he was an “everyman” in the situations. The stage is set and I can’t wait for book 2 to come out to immerse myself again!
