Make Me Bleed

Has hunger ever make you do something crazy?Because that’s what happened to me ever since I brought Bridget with me to Dyea, Alaska.

My best friend is a witch with a target on her back. I might not be as fierce as her new wolf shifter mate, but I would do anything to protect her—including leaving city life behind and moving to a secluded supe town up north.

There’s one big problem, it’s a supernatural sanctuary. There are a handful of humans on site to feed the small vampire community, but they’re all claimed by others. I lost my preferred donor when we headed to Alaska, and though Bridget’s offered, it doesn’t seem right when she’s mated.

I thought I could figure it out. It’s just a little blood, right? But when the thirst has me on the edge of going rogue, I decide to get a little… creative.

Okay. I attempt to drink a bear, happy?

Only… while I knew that this territory had brown bears and grizzlies, I guess my welcome brochure forgot to mention that there are bear shifters, too.

And the one I fed on? He just might be my beloved mate…

*The second half of the Sanctuary duet, Make Me Bleed is the story of a thirsty vampire heroine--and the bear who is more than happy to bleed for her...

This one read a little better than the first, but maybe that’s because most of the world and even part of this story was introduced in the first book.

Make Me Bleed is the second of a duet and focuses on the vampiric half of the friendship duo established in Watch Me Burn. We kind of get a summarized version of the events from Elise’s point of view that were happening during Bridget’s romance and figure out how everything going on for Elise led up to that moment at the end of the previous book.

Enter sweet-as-pie bear shifter Hank and his utter devotion to his Lise from the moment she gave in to temptation (and hunger) and snacked on a random “Bear” found in the woods. Only that bear was Hank and he’s convinced she’s his fated mate.

Lots of emotional turmoil in this one. Elise has always wanted her “beloved,” her fated mate, but trauma keeps her held back. She’s an extremely tiny yet tough vampire but knocks to the heart and childhood trauma are really holding her back from pursuing a happily ever after with her bear. It was sweet watching them work through that; Hank being ever so patient with Elise and letting her choose and go at whatever pace she needed to feel comfortable.

Definitely another sweet fated mates paranormal romance.

a good read

I liked this one a lot more than the first. For one her beloved has her call him honey bear. How adorable is that! Also she takes her time coming to terms with him being a bear, a shift that she drank from to being her beloved. It wasn’t drawn out and the internal monologuing was reduced which made this a much more pleasant read.
I did like how she was his first and how devoted to her he was. Though I would have loved him to have left some more gifts for her than just the one carving. But overall a cute read and definitely worth the happily ever after ending.

MF, shifter romance, PNR. Fated mates, bear shifter, vampire, witch bestie. I had to read about the vampire bestie, and it sounded hilarious. Pretty good. I'm having a hard time reconciling myself to a vampire that isn't a badass. I keep trying to tell myself vampires can be different from one another.

I have really enjoyed this series. Witches, vampires, shifters all in an enchanted town, what's not to love. Well written with great characters, entertaining story with some nice witty touches. Highly recommended.

Honestly I had to force myself to finish it. I think that FMC was the stupidest wussiest one I have ever read.
