A woman with a secret. A man trying to avoid his past. A case of mistaken identity that changes everything. In this explosive finale, the city of Springfield will never be the same... Kylie
It was supposed to be a quick job. I had a name, an address, and a means-and right as I walked on the scene, I watched as the Devil of Springfield himself blew away the vice mayor.
My first instinct is to wash my hands of the whole thing, but before I can get out of there, I'm caught and, well, caught.
I've had some wild experiences in my line of work, but being grabbed and tossed in the back of a trunk? That takes the cake, and by the time I'm brought to a small hideaway, I'm kind of just wondering what's going to happen next.
To be honest, I'm expecting a bullet in my skull, and I'm almost welcoming it-and that's when I meet Luca, a member of the Sinners Syndicate... and my new babysitter.
He tells me this is just to keep me safe. That his boss wants me dead, and even if he didn't, there's a new threat in the city: a faceless assassin who goes by the Hummingbird. So long as I do what I'm told and stay where he put me, I might actually make it out of this alive.
And for the first time in years, I'm digging that idea.
Only Luca... he doesn't know what to make of me. He expected tears; I give him a flirty smile. He expected me to beg; I ask him if he wants to play checkers. I'm having the time of my life, and the sparks flying between us have me close to igniting.
And then he discovers that I am the Hummingbird-and, whoops, things aren't as much fun anymore...
Luca
When the pretty brunette saw something she shouldn't have, I had no choice. Devil gives the orders, and he told me to put the girl in the trunk.
I put the girl in the trunk.
Rumors run that becoming a dad changed Devil. Made him soft. Anyone in the life knows that's BS, especially when he decides he's going to eliminate the threat to the Sinners. Only I... I can't let him.
So I ask to keep her instead. If I make her mine, if I win her loyalty, then she won't snitch.
It's easier than I thought it would be. Kylie is the strangest yet most intoxicating woman I've ever met, and the more time I spend with her, the more my obsession for her grows. I want to save her-but when I learn the secrets she's been hiding, I have no choice.
The Hummingbird is supposedly a threat to Springfield. But if anything happens to Kylie... I might just lose my cool.
And ask anyone in Hamilton: bad things happen when Luca St. James loses his cool.
Ride With The Devil by Carin Hart is the final book in the Deal With The Devil series. I love this series and I am so sad that it is officially over. Luca and Kylie’s story was well written and I enjoyed it. The storyline was well paced and kept my attention. I loved that the MMC was more innocent in this story Than the FMC. It was different than the books I normally read but I loved it. Carin Hart did a fantastic job with these two characters and their love story. I read this book in one sitting.
Kylie was witty, deadly, and so funny. I loved her character immediately and the more I got to know her the more I liked her. She was so unapologetically herself and did not give a shit what other people think. Luca was such a sweetheart and his backstory was rough. I loved how Kylie supported Luca. These two were so cute together. Kylie is my favorite FMC in this series. I would totally recommend not only this book but the entire series!!!
I've been eagerly anticipating this release for months, and as soon as it downloaded, I immediately set everything aside to dive in. While I’m saddened to see this series come to an end, the journey has been an incredible one, filled with emotional highs and lows.
Luca has lingered in the background since the first book, a character clearly burdened by trauma, though the details remained a mystery. This installment does an exceptional job of giving him the depth and resolution he deserves. Kylie, as the female lead, is both endearing and exasperating—her sass made me roll my eyes at times, but she remains undeniably lovable.
Seeing all the familiar characters once more added to the sense of closure, making this finale feel truly complete. While Cross and Gen will always hold a special place in my heart, Luca and Kylie have become a close second. This was a fitting and well-crafted conclusion to a series I’ve thoroughly enjoyed.
Title: Ride with the Devil Where I Read: Kindle Unlimited Synopsis: Attached . The RayView: ✨✨✨✨ The HeatRay: 💥 How It Be Spicin’?: 🌶️🌶️ . CW: Please check trigger warnings before reading! Includes things like schmurder, religious trauma, and inappropriate use of produce. . Lucaaaaaaa. Luca, my baby. Such a sad little repressed soul. I latched onto him faster than a parasite. I absolutely adore that man. He’s by far my favorite MMC in the main line. “But Shelby? Why four stars then?” Sigh. Unfortunately I feel it was just way too rushed. I wanted more to the story. More than just the past and the edging and the flirting. And on top of all of that the grammar in this initial release is just jarring. 😅 Unfortunately a lot of words felt completely missed in sentences, words spelled wrong, sometimes obvious “she’s” were “he’s” and vice versa. I’m fully aware that not every story is perfect but this just felt really rough. Which hurt my soul because of how much I adore Luca. I hope this one gets a smidge more attention sometime. 🖤
I overlooked the editing problems ( that I almost gave it 4 stars for)and enjoyed this unusual ,reverse Mafia book.Kylie reminded me of devil in her Royce in her planning , subtlety and violence. The plot had layers, humor and Luka was a tragic figure that got stronger with Kylie at his side.Revenge is sweet, especially when the one you love gets it for you.Good ending for a good series.
Ride with the Devil by Carin Hart was kind of a train wreck for me. Luca came across as much more naive and inexperienced than he had in previous books, which felt out of character and frustrating at times. Kylie had the potential to be a legit badass, but instead of showing off her strengths, most of her storyline was confined to hanging out in a mountain cabin. The setup had promise, but the execution left me wishing for more depth and drive from both leads.
I really love Carin Hart's novel but this particular book just doesn't go well for me. Maybe because of the prologue or the fact that it does not really respect religion.
From the beginning, the ten commandments was cancelled remaining just two. That's weird.
This is just my personal opinion.

im happy this series is done. this book felt unnecessary and i would’ve much rather seen a story for tanner than luca but whatever. didn’t feel all that high stakes but eh. also a million typos but i got used to them. also being the 13th review on this book makes me laugh
dont ask me why i read this after i gave the previous book 1star (i have an issue with leaving series unfinished) - the storyline was so strange, and the only redeeming factor was the relationship between kylie and luca which felt quite a bit icky at times
We met Luca in The Devil's Bargain as Devil, aka Lincoln's driver, and Luca remains so to present. Enter Kylie, also known as Hummingbird, a hitwoman for hire, and while she failed to take out Cross, a spoiler for those who didn't read Dance With the Devil, is now back with a new hit in town. Only, Kylie's gone a bit sloppy, and it's only thanks to Luca's instant obsession with her that she isn't killed on the spot. Something that would have happened had Luca and Devil known her real identity. So while figuring out what to do with her, Luca imprisons her with him in a remote cabin until she agrees not to tell anyone what she saw. So what happens when the Devil discovers who Kylie really is?
Luca and Kylie get their happy ending in this standalone book in a series.
Luca's backstory really got to me, and knowing more about him, it's a wonder he ended up with Lincoln at all. I do wonder if Lincoln knew some of this story and took care of Luca's problem for him, but never told him. I can't see a different gang leader just letting someone steal from them and get away with it. It would be interesting to know how Luca handled Kylie going away for her job every now and again, and if he tried to go with her. Or knowing what she does and his limits, if he stayed home and worried about her. This was a great series, and the only thing that could have made it better was a second epilogue to show how the city was functioning in a year, or five years from this incident, and how the groups were getting along.
