I had high hopes for big sales at the holiday craft show … but I never dreamed my biggest transaction would be an offer to fake date a professional hockey player …
Welcome to Miami, where the sun is hot, and the ice is even hotter. Beckham Bailey is known as a partying hockey player, and he’s in desperate need of an image overhaul off the ice.
I’m Georgie Goodwin, and I hand-paint Mason Jars for a living. But with December approaching and my funds running low, it seems as if Georgie’s Jars might have to go under.
But when Beckham’s sister discovers me at a holiday craft show, she sees the perfect opportunity to give her brother a new image by faking a relationship with me, the sunshine girl who loves Christmas. In return, I will get exposure for Georgie’s Jars and some cash to keep my dream alive. As we spend time together, I start to see the layers behind Beckham's grumpy exterior and find myself falling for him. But can our fake relationship survive the truth of our feelings?

I thought the main couple was very cute and this book had cute moments, but I felt like it was almost just kind of a collection of cute moments without having a lot of development of the relationship and real conflict that tested them. It was a fun read, but I wish there had been more to the story.
Aven Ellis writes absolute magic. Her books are very much like a warm blanket on a cold day, or in this case lying underneath the Christmas tree looking at the lights. I absolutely loved Georgie and Beckham. There was just something so pure and beautiful about their relationship. I really loved their conflict at the end of the book. Seeing Beckham step up for the one he loves was absolutely beautiful. Beckham's growth was amazing to witness. I love it! I can't wait to see more of this amazing series in absolutely loved this book so so much. If I could give this 10 stars I would. So beautiful. I can't wait to get my hands on the physical copy of this one.
It reads very juvenile. I almost would have thought the characters were in high school and not grown adults. It was just awkward. There was no romance, banter, flirting, or humor whatsoever. I have a really hard time not finishing books, even if I hate them, but I wish I had stopped. There was nothing satisfying about the story at all. I can't even say it was a fun read. It was 400+ pages and nothing happened. I really don't understand why the author tried to create some weird social media platform that's like 10 syllables and a ridiculous mouthful. Especially since she referenced booktok and TikTok several times. Just why? It was some stupid made up name, with no abbreviation and she brought it up ALL. THE TIME. She also references Taylor Swift songs way too much. It got better in the second half, but Georgie didn't go 3 sentences without mentioning a song. I get it, she's a swiftie, but that and christmas were her entire personality. It was tedious to read. Although Georgie's art is mentioned, we never really get to know her as an artist except for christmas. And Beckham has the personality of drying paint. This was my first book by Aven and needless to say it was also my last.
It's Christmas night. I'm going into my 4th year in this nursinghome. No celebration, no Hanukkah, either They totally overlap this year, through New Year's Day. I felt like reading, which I can't do often. I opened Kindle, and I saw Miami Ice at the bottom of the page. I'd started reading when it first came out; then I stopped because I Love Aven Ellis's books so much, I don't want to finish too quickly. And I'd forgotten Georgie's Christmas -themed life, and I kept reading. The characters are so complete, Georgie and Beckham, her twin Ella, her circle of close girl friends. And her Very difficult parents, I emphasized with her ongoing conflict with her mother, who criticised and belittled her constantly🥺 I know nothing about Ice 🏒 except the basics I've picked up from Ellis's other hockey books. I do remember loving to ice skate when I was young in Houston❣️ The idea of fake-dating was new and added some suspense to the love story😍 About ¾ through, I tried to prepare myself for the misunderstanding and fight that often breaks up from com couples, and as I kept reading, I got tense, because even though it's a trope, Ellis keeps the drama and frustration taut. I kept reading. Then ~ Epilogue ⁉️ There was no breakup😃😃 Christmas toys and decorations and treats, from sublime to ridiculous (in Beckham's eyes, until he gives in to all of it because Georgie loves them So Much, and he loves Georgie❣️ He has a cat, she has a dog, they get along from the first😘 There are even Chinchillas! I knew nothing of them as pets, I'd only heard of Chinchilla fur stoles back before we all realised how cruel that was. I had No idea what they looked like, so I Wiki'd them! They're nothing like I imagined. They take dust baths because their fur is so thick that it's hard to get them thoroughly dry, if they get into any water, and it can cause sores and rashes🥺 I even watched some dust baths videos, and they are so cute❣️ I always learn new things from every one of her books, and I love that! Perfect way to end an otherwise empty holiday❣️💖💓💕💞
The latest in the Miami Sports Series by Aven Ellis, Miami Ice is a romantic comedy featuring bad boy hockey player, Beckham Bailey and Georgie Goodwin, a quintessential good girl and the creator of Georgie’s jars.
After being traded to Miami due to his bad boy ways and terrible reputation, Beckham, (or Becks, as he’s known to his closest friends), needed a makeover STAT. His sister Sofia even moved her family to Miami to help get him off on the right foot. When she spotted Georgie, she knew instantly she had found the woman who could help him change his image. But would Georgie take him on, especially when he didn’t know of this plan? Would Georgie even agree to do something like this?
Georgie’s passion ran deep for her commitment to Georgie’s jars. She saw her small business as her future, but needed a big break to keep the business growing. The only one in her family who supported her was her twin sister, Ella. When Sofia made her an offer to help her brother, it wasn’t just about the money. Becks needed to be reminded why there was joy in Christmas and Georgie knew she was the one for the job.
If you are a Swiftie, you will love this story. Throughout the book, there are references to her songs. However, if you are not, the references will be lost on you as they were on me. I like Taylor, but if I’ve heard her songs, I didn’t realize it was her. The song references didn't detract from the story, but also didn't add to it for me.
I really enjoyed Miami Ice quite a lot. The contrast between Georgie, the Christmas-loving, Elsa look-alike and Becks, the Christmas-hating bad boy made it a fun read. The banter between the two of them was quick and entertaining. I highly recommend this if you like any type of romance stories, but especially sports-related.
Aven Ellis always delivers the swooniest romcoms out there and Miami Ice is no exception to the rule.
Georgie is an up-and-coming mason jar designer looking to expand her business. Beckham is a hockey player who needs to reform his playboy image. When a chance meeting with Beckham's sister presents Georgie with the opportunity she's been waiting for, she jumps at it. All she has to do is pretend to date Beckham. It should be easy, except Beckham happens to be one of the world's biggest grumps.
Georgie and Becks are one of those couples you will instantly fall in love with. There is something for everyone in this story. Hockey, adorable pets, sizzling chemistry, and perhaps most importantly of all, Pinkmas.
If you're like me, you'll be sitting on the edge of your seat, racing to the end of the story to find out what happens next.
This is the perfect book to get you in the mood for the holiday season, regardless of what time of year it is.
If you're thinking about giving Miami Ice a try, do it! You won't be disappointed.
When Georgie Goodwin went to a craft show to sell her hand-painted mason jars, the last thing she expected was to be asked to pretend to be the girlfriend of a professional hockey player. Beckham’s image needs a rehab, and his sister believes Georgie is the perfect on to help him. What the pair doesn’t expect, however, is to develop actual feelings for one another.
With this author, you can expect a story that’s low on conflict, but filled with plenty of sweet, humorous, and heart-felt moments, and this book is no exception. Georgie and Beckham have instant chemistry, and it was fun watching them maneuver their fake relationship and turn it into something real. Both characters encourage each other and help each other grow, which I always enjoy seeing. It was also fun seeing characters from a previous book make a brief appearance. But don’t worry, if this is your first Aven book, it’s a standalone so you won’t feel like you’re missing anything, even if you don’t know the other characters.
Readers who enjoy fun, sweet romances, as well as sports romances, are in for a treat with this Miami Ice.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy*
Aven Ellis always knows how to write the cutest and most wholesome books. If you’re looking for sweet, silly, with a hint of spice then Miami Ice has to be your next read.
The story follows Georgie and Becks as they come together for a little fake dating to help repair Becks bad boy image after he was traded to Miami for the Hockey season. Georgie knows this spotlight is just what she needs to take her small business to the next level only the fake dating doesn’t last for long once they both start falling for each other.
I was pleasantly surprised to find some spice in this book since book one in this series was closed door. I liked the banter in this book and how much Georgie and Becks supported each other. There really isn’t much going on in this book besides the two main characters doting on each other. It was cute to read but I think it made the storyline a bit dull. I was waiting for the drama but it just never came so there was not any real character development. I can still see many readers falling in love with these characters though!
Thank you Aven Ellis for including me on your ARC team! 🙏🏽
Christmas came early! This is the perfect holiday feel-good read to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Come November 1st, Georgie Goodwin is all Christmas, all day, every day. But her small business is kind of killing the holiday vibes. Fate, however, has other plans, putting the bubbly Sofia Bailey in front of Georgie with a deal too interesting and too good to pass up.
Beckham Bailey needs some desperate image rehab. So when his sister proposes a holiday fake date with the cute and crafty Christmas girl, who is he to say no?
Aven has this amazing ability to write the sweetest books I’ve ever read. This is by far my favorite from her so far, and her work simply grows each time.
Georgie and Becks are the perfect grumpy x sunshine mixed up in a beautiful rom-com inspired book that even Hallmark would be jealous of! I loved the immediate connection they both felt for the other, and how they danced around it before finally caving. And I love how Becks truly melts for Georgie and all her holiday craziness.
I read an ARC of Miami Ice to provide an honest review. Miami Ice has truly brought back my love and enthusiasm for Aven Ellis' novels.
Georgie is a recent college grad trying to grow her crafting business. I strongly identified with Georgie as someone who sells at craft fairs and dreams of making it her main source of income. She is obsessed with Christmas, so she probably enjoys the holiday craft shows a bit more than I do. Still, she is relatable, has flaws, and shows some growth.
Beckham felt a bit more 2 dimensional. We're told of his past and who he was and his wild behavior, but we never actually see it or see him struggle to be this "new" Beckham. Then again, that is the challenge of a single narrator.
Overall, this story is sweet as Christmas cookie icing and the perfect holiday read.
Another amazing book by Aven Ellis! Georgie and Becks stole my heart. The beauty of Aven's books is that you don't have to relate to the characters- I'm not crafty like Georgie or a big hockey fan- to fall in love with them anyways. I am a huge Swiftie, and LOVED how her songs played into this story.
I love how characters from past books make an appearance again in the Avenverse. I had forgotten just how much Grandma Montgomery cracked me up, and I loved getting to see her again. In fact, I went back and read Miami Hoops again after finishing this! I also love the sneak peeks into the lives of books to come. I can't wait to read more Miami Sports Series books.
Another amazing book! I'm super lucky to have received an ARC, but can't wait for you to get your hands on it!
Aven Is a go to read for me, so I was thrilled to get an early copy and dive into Miami Ice!
I LOVE Beckham and Georgie and how they got together. It wasn’t the typical Aven meetcute, but I really enjoyed this new dynamic of a fake relationship and how it came about. So many lovable characters in this book and new people to crave having their own story!
I really enjoyed no unnecessary bad choices that sabotage a solid relationship- the moment of tension was one unexpected that still left my heart feeling supported :)
Such a solid 5 ⭐️ romance that has all the feels, laughs, romance, and character development!
It is so refreshing to read a good book that just hits that spot, and that is exactly what this book done. There were a few moments where I laughed out loud, definitely moments where I swooned because BECKHAM BAILEY.... how can you not!!! But the end... I actually gasped for 'Cupcake'....
Beckham Bailey is just everything Georgie needed, and in return, Georgie was just what Beckham needed.
Thank you, @avenellis, for reaching out to me and giving me the opportunity to read this amazing book.
Miss Sunshine, sequined, pink Christmas loving, artist Georgie meets Mr Grumpy, needs to reform his bad boy rep, hockey player Beckham in this super swoon-worthy romcom. Not only do their opposite personalities attract, they also bring out the best in one another.
The imagery and magic of Aven Ellis’ writing in this novel had me laughing hysterically, on the edge of my seat with anticipation, and in tears! Get whisked Georgie and Beckham, and you won’t want to come back to reality. I cannot recommend this book enough!
💗This was such a charming and light read. I just loved both the leads. I adore reading Grumpy x Sunshine and ✨FAKE DATING✨tropes and this book really stood out on that front. Both of them had amazing chemistry and I loved the banters as well. Taylor Swift song references were the highlight of the book so I would definitely recommend it if you're a Swiftie. It's a cute sport (hockey) rom-com and will definitely make you swoon. Pick it up when you're in the mood for a light page-turner and you will not be disappointed. 💗
This book was such a fantastic book to read. If you want to laugh, cry, giggle at the silliness and swoon with the romance you must read this book. It was so good I had to re read the funny parts an example ( The multiple Thanksgiving dinners) to my husband and he was rolling with laughter. I have so many favorite parts of this book but I hate spoilers so all I can say is you will love it. I will keep and re read this book any time I want to smile. Aven Ellis is a super talented author and I highly recommend her books.
Georgie is a struggling creative, who while at a craft show, is approached to fake-date and help save bad boy NHL player Beckham's reputation. She's a Christmas fanatic and he is a grumpy grinch lol. The banter and flirting is swoon worthy, and his willingness to make her happy is just what book boyfriends are made of. Along the way of saving his reputation, they fall in love quickly. A crisis happens towards the end, and well, his love is tested as is his new reformed behavior.
-Christmas -Fake dating -Hockey -Grumpy sunshine -All of the swifty references!!!
Ooh, I really enjoyed this book! I usually enjoy the fake dating trope and I really love when they actually start enjoying each others company and fall in love. This one doesn't disappoint. The plot is also cleverly built and I like that there's no real relationship drama. The drama is more on the medical side and I love it! I love the characters and the hockey world. I'm not personally too fond of hockey but I always love a hockey romance. I love Beckham. He's simply a great man and I love how well he takes care of Georgie. All in all, this is one of my all time favourite hockey romance!
I was lucky enough to read this as an ARC so thank you Aven Ellis for the chance to meet and love on Georgie & Beckham!
This is such a YUMMY hockey romance! Georgie is so sweet and wonderful and exactly what Beckham needs for this change in his life. Beckham in turn is exactly what Georgie needs and shows her unyielding belief in her talent and work.
If you love sports romance books, you NEED to read Miami Ice.
Side note: Georgie had me thinking of going full tilt into Pinkmas🩷🎄
This was such a cute story and I absolutely loved it. It was a beautiful and cozy fake dating story and the characters had amazing chemistry and banter. Georgie and Beckham are a wonderful representation of the grumpy/sunshine trope and make for a very fun read. Would highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys sports romance, fake dating and grumpy/sunshine tropes. Thank you to Aven Ellis for the ARC of this story.
Aww This book is full of cute moments that had me giggling 🤭 Like the author say sa-woon 💗💗 Such a lighthearted read. At first I thought Beckham would be full on grumpy mode but he turned out to be a sweetheart. Georgie I love her. With her sunshiny personality she is ahh-mazing. The relatable Taylor Swift songs are just A+.
The book tracks the meeting and eventual romance of a Christmas loving crafter and a somewhat disgraced hockey player. Both characters were easy to like and the love they feel for each other is sweet. The book was a little slow for me but was sweet nonetheless-the-less.
Miami Ice is a captivating romantic comedy that combines the thrill of ice hockey with a swoon-worthy love story. The engaging plot and witty writing style make it a standout in the sports romance genre.
Aven does it again with Georgie and Becks. Christmas, jars, and hockey. Georgie is introduced to Beckham and sparks flew, with a push! Georgie isn't willing to let anyone stand in her way of her dreams and with Becks by her side, everything is possible! Its such a great Christmas book, in the eyes of someone who loves Christmas! Aven adds Hockey and a heroine with such a great head on her shoulders!
This book constantly kept me smiling. Whether it was the adorable things they said or did, or the hilarious moments like Thanksgiving (low-key relatable) or the *cough* situations they walked in on, I was smiling and laughing through most of it. I think this is one of my new fav sports romances.
Another sweet story from Aven Ellis - and a return to hockey, which is how I found her in the first place!!! An over the top ode to Christmas excess for sure, but I’m a sucker for a good grumpy-sunshine. Love the set up for the next installment as well!
I love this book so much! Georgie and Beckhams's story is a beautiful all the feels everything and more journey with a heartmelting storyline that was out of this world amazing.
It was very eh. Not a lot of development of character or plot honestly. There was not any tension, just instalove and Taylor references. I hate how authors have began taking TS and using her and her songs for the books.
