Maggie Price turned to crime at the age of twenty-two. That's when she went to work at the Oklahoma City Police Department. As a civilian crime analyst, she evaluated suspects' methods of operation during the commission of robberies and sex crimes, and developed profiles on those suspects. During her tenure at OCPD, Maggie stood in lineups, snagged assignments to homicide task forces, established procedures for evidence submittal, even posed as the wife of an undercover officer in the investigation of a fortune teller.

Drawing on her twelve years experience in law enforcement, Maggie Price penned her debut novel, PRIME SUSPECT. One week after Silhouette Books acquired the novel of romance and intrigue, the Romance Writers of America awarded PRIME SUSPECT its prestigious Golden Heart Award for Best Romantic Suspense.

A RITA award finalist, Maggie is the winner of Romantic Times Magazine's career achievement award in series romantic suspense, a Booksellers' Best Award for romantic suspense and a National Readers Choice Award for romantic suspense.

So, if you are confused, I can help straighten you out. This book would probably go best after The Hopechest Bride in order of reading. Sweet Child of Mine is indicated to come after this one. Unknown book? Then Close Proximity and A Hasty Wedding. Hope that helps other readers enjoy the series

This follows Rory, a college roommate of Blake's, a scientist for the FBI. Blake called him to come try to identify the substance that was poisoning the Ranch. In Close Proximity and A Hasty Wedding, we heard about the EPA agent's accident and finding out it was murder. In this book, we get to meet the sketchy agent, who is not sympathetic, and deal with the uncertainty around his death as well as finding out what the substance was that poisoned the children

Rory is put up at the local bed-and-breakfast, owned and operated by Peggy. Rory calls her "Ireland". The attraction between the two is known, but Rory controls himself because Peggy has been married to a cop and has no interest in being married to an LEO again. Eventually, they get together after hurt, heartache, and coming to terms.

There were a few discrepancies in the book between Samantha's age (Samantha is Peggy's five year old daughter; the front cover snippets indicated "two-year-old"), and in the series: where Holly lives (in A Hasty Wedding she lives on the Ranch; here she is living in town), and how the contaminant was discovered (In another book, it was indicated that Todd Lamb suggested the water to his daughter Holly, but here Blake takes the credit with process of elimination).
