After getting Foolproof Flower Embroidery I just had to pre order Jennifer's new book Foolproof Freedom Embroidery and it's as great as the previous book. So excited to explore this new volume and get more great ideas and designs from Jennifer. And it's as beautiful as the previous book. Again I love it and gave this book 5 out of 5 stars!
If you think about it, one doesn't really need instructions to be freeform. Isn't that the whole point of being freeform? But alas, I checked out the book just to see what the author had to say. I like her philosphy of anything goes, but felt that I really didn't need the instructions or the stitches. So, yes, a good reference book, but not for me.
Really interesting in terms of its content and ideas - sort of embroidery meets art meets quilting. I love that it moves away from kits and premade designs into something more organic and experimental.
My only qualm was the arrangement of the chapters - why would all of the designs come before the actual stitch descriptions and how to do the stitches? Odd to me.
