Josh Haman #3

Render Harmless

Rate this book
Car bombs set by a group called Red Hand are going off all over West Germany, killing American, British and German citizens. Red Hand's manifesto reads as if it was copied from Nazi propaganda. Now, just four years after the 1972 Olympics massacre of Israeli athletes and three decades after the Holocaust, the West German government is facing its worst political nightmare: Germans are once again killing Jews - and former Nazis who want to create the Fourth Reich may somehow be involved. The West German police can't find the shadowy members of Red Hand, so the American and British governments decide to act covertly. Josh Haman, part way through an exchange tour with the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm, joins the team led by his friend and SEAL Team Six member Marty Cabot. The hunt takes their team into East Germany to execute their written orders, which tell them "to find, neutralize and render harmless to the United States and her allies the members of Red Hand."

After I finished this book I simply placed it on the table in front of me and sat...thinking about it. The emotions Marc Liebman and his characters stir up definately make you feel.....well something, I still haven't identified how I feel yet.
Josh Haman and his crew of men, and 2 very supportive wives, are such fantastic characters. The detail that goes into every part of this book is so very realistic and adds to the fact that the author knows exactly what he is writing about. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

I found Render Harmless fast paced and highly informative from a Cold War standpoint. Josh and Marty are deep into the Nazi underbelly and Global Terrorism and as a Cold War veteran I found it intense and totally logical from a Military standpoint. Having been a Naval Rescue Swimmer with many hours in the back of the H3 Helicopter both as a crew chief and as a Rescue Swimmer Marc writes with a flair that takes me back some 30 years and excites me with his descriptions of cockpit panels, configuration, and Tactics. Red Hand and its Manifesto should make everyone sit up and take notice. It makes the Fourth Reich an almost plausible reality.
Wonderful read but the use of all the German Street names and Cities slowed it down a bit for me.
Hence only 4 stars but still a great read. FLY NAVY

A trip back to the 70s and West Germany where a ruthless gang are setting off car bombs targeted at Jews. Simultaneously a new political party has started up with an agenda that stinks of Nazi Germany. Are they linked? The German police have been unable to find any leads to the Red Hand, the name the bombers have given themselves. A covert action group led by the American and British governments are the ones who must uncover Red Hand so that they can "neutralise and render harmless" the terrorists. An entertaining, enthralling and well researched read from Marc Liebman.

Stayed up late to finish reading this book. It is set in the 70's, before the Berlin Wall came down. Car bombs are exploding all over West Germany targeting Americans, Germans & British citizens and Jews. A joint operation with an Israeli, American and British team are investigating the bombings and anonymously feeding info to German police - who are also investigating. So the military, Mossad, intelligence agencies, Fatah, politicians, along with the KGB and secret police are all involved. There is lots of military stuff, action and intrigue.

I did have to take notes to keep all the characters straight, which was a bit of a hassle, but other than that I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more of Marc Liebman's work. It is exciting, interesting, thrilling, and since Marc actually flew military aircraft I got the sense of really being there (even if I didn't understand all the nuances)!

Excellent adventure/thriller novel. The characters become more deep as this series progresses. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
