As the book description states "This volume adapts season two episodes 'Return of Harmony' parts 1 and 2." I prefer reading the My Little Pony comics exactly because they are different than the TV series. I enjoy the TV series but the comic book series is consistently more off the wall, packed with pop culture references/jokes and telling zany stories that would likely never get greenlit for a TV episode.
So while I knew this was simply an adaptation of the TV series I was still disappointed by how straight it plays. There's a few jokes in the opening, including a classic Pinkie Pie exclamation "Eternal chaos comes with chocolate rain you guys. Chocolate rain!" But once the battle against Discord starts it's a pretty straight shot to the end.
The artwork is nice and clean and matches the TV series. There's no amazing layouts and character designs like the regular comic book series but that wasn't the job of this volume.
I'm sure mega-fans of the TV series will enjoy this much more. Fans of the comic book series will likely be left wanting more.

I just found my old books so I decided to reread this because as a child I adored it. And I loved it again!!

This book was kinda like watching a movie, but not that much. It may not be 5 stars worth, but I just really really liked it.
The book was about them trying to defeat this evil dragon who was trying to make everyone lonely and have no friends and made ponies forget their memories and the fact that they DID have friends who loved them. The only pony who didn’t get it, was Twilight Sparkle. She fixed her spell easily. She saved everyone in Equestria!

The adaptation of the Return of Harmony was a bit of a hit and miss with many changes from the TV show that made the comic book almost unreadable.
