This is one of my favorite Batman and Robin shows ever. So when I saw this book was coming out I had to preorder it.
The colors and way they did the text blurbs, remind me strongly of the show. They have that voice over feel to them. Some of the pictures were blurry however, which I didn't expect. And while there are facts and statistics, there are far less of them than I had expected.
Half the book describes the show's villains, 2-4 pages for the most recognized ones like Catwoman, Mr. Freeze and the Joker. And then a single page (or less!) for the less-known like The Puzzler and Black Widow. It also gives you a bit of information about the various vehicles. From the Batmobile and Batcycle to the Jokermobile.
The first half of the book gives you some information about Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Commissioner Gordon, and a few of the other good guys. But a lot of the info won't be new to you if you've seen the series. I was expecting more trivia, and while there were a number of interesting things, I probably wouldn't have pre-ordered it if I had known this was what was inside.
I still love the book! And if you are, or know, a fan of the show I recommend getting a copy. Just don't expect it to go very in-depth. It seems to mostly be a summary of the who's who, to give you a crash course for people who have never seen the show.
It was okay. I was honestly expecting more, well, facts and stats. I was expecting more of a behind-the-scenes look and while there was a small amount of that in this book, most of the book was stuff you can know just by watching the show. I'm giving it four stars because it's not the book's fault that I was expecting something completely different.
Some great memories from the TV show and photographs, as well as facts which I did not know before reading this book. This is a must for fans of the original show, however I did find some of the vocabulary a bit difficult to understand sometimes.
Adam West was my first live action Batman. He got me hooked on comic books. Okay, I got hooked on the '70's post '66 live action Batman comics...but still. This book brings it all back! It only touches the surface. It covers the series regulars and the most infamous rogues. It could devote more attention to the rogues that were developed specifically for the series. It could have a section devoted to the molls and henchmen. There is a big gaping hole where Jill St. John's Molly should be. Harvey Lembeck was an infamous Penguin G.O.O.N. This book touches the tip of the iceberg ("Wild!") - there could be so much more! Hopefully there will be a sequel!
i loved the 1960s Batman televison series and when i saw this book i had to get it filled with all kinds of information and fun facts from the television series a definite must have addition to any DC collectors out there.
A charming and well-designed little book that positively glows with colorful trivia and unusual screen grabs from the 1966 Batman TV Series. If you are a Bat-Fan, you'll enjoy the read!
