Tracy and Rush’s story takes center stage as they balance love, ambition, and the impact of a rapidly spreading pandemic. Christina Fanelli’s attention to detail makes the world feel strikingly real, from their sun-soaked vacation in Key West to the tense newsroom of The Crimson Tribune.
What stands out most is the novel’s ability to capture human resilience in the face of change. The story artfully transitions between moments of personal introspection and larger societal shifts, giving readers an intimate yet wide-ranging perspective.

Cathay Combat: Book Two of the Crimson Tribune Saga by Christina Fanelli seamlessly blends the turbulence of the COVID-19 pandemic with the lives of its returning characters—Tracy, Rush, Benji, Rita, and Darla—offering a compelling follow-up to the adventures of the first book. While the characters once found themselves in a fantastical world, they now face a new, much more grounded reality: the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and the societal upheavals it brought with it.
The novel dives into the challenges each character encounters as their lives adjust to this new normal. Tracy’s arc stands out with shocking discoveries about China, giving the story an international edge and adding layers to her personal journey. Meanwhile, Benji’s day-to-day struggles as a facility engineer in a local hospital feel intensely real, reflecting the broader struggles of frontline workers. The pandemic's impact is further explored through Rita and Darla’s difficulty in navigating changes to their volunteering roles and school routines, which echoes the sudden disruption that families across the world faced during the lockdown.
Rush, on the other hand, tries to keep order in the offices of the Crimson Tribune, adding an element of professional survival amidst the chaos. Fanelli expertly highlights the weight of maintaining routine when the world outside is anything but normal.
The novel balances personal and societal shifts, weaving individual stories with the global events that shape them. Fanelli does an excellent job of portraying the emotional and psychological toll of the pandemic, exploring how a once-in-a-lifetime global event forces people to adapt and rethink their lives. The focus on relationships and the shifting dynamics between characters—whether through Tracy’s shocking discoveries or Benji’s career hurdles—keeps the plot engaging and relatable.
Cathay Combat is more than just a pandemic story—it’s a deep dive into resilience, adaptability, and the human spirit during unprecedented times. Fans of the first book will appreciate the continuity and development of the characters, while newcomers to the series will find a thoughtful exploration of the personal effects of COVID-19 on individuals and families. Fanelli successfully ties the fantastical elements from the previous book to a pandemic-stricken world, making this a must-read for those looking for a nuanced narrative that balances personal growth with global crisis.

Ever Felt Like You’ve Unveiled the Truth with a Book?
If not, you’ve got to check out Cathay Combat by Christina Fanelli. This newly launched 2nd book in Tribune Saga and 8th book by the author, which stands strong on its own but is even better when read with the first book.
From the first page, I was hooked. What makes this book a standout is the realism embedded in its storytelling. Set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the characters Tracy, Rush, Benji, Rita, and Darla, face challenges that feel all too real, at points, I was totally lost in the book.
Tracy, a journalist, makes shocking discoveries about China, and her journey feels like you’re unveiling truths right alongside her. The article she writes at the end of the book is so realistic, it felt like I was opening my eyes to new realities.
I’ve loved reading all eight books written by the author and this series. Each one has been an inspiring and amazing experience.
Author’s talent shines brightly through her books. Her ability to create realistic, relatable characters and weave them into a vivid, engaging storyline is truly remarkable. She has skillfully captures the nuances of life during the pandemic, making each page feel authentic and emotionally resonant.
Author storytelling prowess keeps readers hooked from start to finish, showcasing her exceptional skill in crafting compelling narratives that leave a lasting impact.
Finding a great series is challenging, but this one has become my favorite. I can’t wait for the next installment!
Overall a well-written, captivating read that feels incredibly real and heart-touching

Imagine stepping into a vibrant gallery where each painting tells a captivating story—inviting, mesmerizing, and full of unexpected depth. That's exactly what it feels like to read "Cathay Combat" by Christina Fanelli. If you're familiar with her work, you'll know she has a knack for weaving intricate narratives that resonate deeply. In this second installment of the Crimson Tribune Saga, Fanelli continues to impress, taking us on a journey that's both heartwarming and thought-provoking.
"Cathay Combat" centers on the lives of Tracy and Chiarina, each navigating their own personal dramas amid broader societal changes. Tracy's seemingly serene life is anything but, as she grapples with the complexities beneath the surface. Chiarina, on the other hand, is immersed in the hustle and bustle of Southshore Medical Center, dealing with professional challenges and personal grief. Their stories intersect in a narrative that explores technology, human connection, and resilience. What sets this story apart is its exploration of the core conflict between personal freedom and societal expectations—an age-old dilemma that Fanelli handles with a fresh perspective.
Fanelli's writing is like a favourite cozy blanket—inviting and comforting, yet rich in texture. Her prose flows smoothly, with vivid descriptions that make you pause and take in the scenery. She has this incredible ability to evoke strong visual images and emotions without overloading the reader. Fanelli’s use of multi-perspective storytelling is particularly effective, allowing us to dive deep into the minds of her characters. This technique enriches the narrative, making it feel like you're living each moment alongside them.
The characters in "Cathay Combat" are beautifully complex and relatable. Tracy and Chiarina, in particular, are portrayed with such depth that you can’t help but empathize with their struggles and triumphs. Tracy’s contemplations about technology and her personal life are incredibly thought-provoking, while Chiarina’s journey through grief and professional dedication hits close to home for anyone who’s faced similar challenges. Even the supporting characters, like Benji and Rush, add significant layers to the story, each bringing their own perspectives and emotional depth.
The pacing of the book is just right—neither too fast nor too slow. It’s like a well-balanced meal, leaving you satisfied yet wanting more. The plot twists are well-placed, keeping you hooked without feeling contrived. Fanelli’s decision to alternate perspectives keeps the narrative dynamic and engaging, ensuring that the story remains fresh and immersive from start to finish.
At its core, "Cathay Combat" tackles themes like the impact of technology on our lives, the necessity of human connection, and the power of resilience. These themes are incredibly relevant in today’s world, where we’re constantly balancing our digital and real lives. Fanelli’s use of allegorical elements, like the contrasting settings and the characters' interactions with technology, adds layers of meaning to the narrative, encouraging readers to reflect on their own experiences.
Reading "Cathay Combat" is an emotional rollercoaster—in the best way possible. I found myself laughing, crying, and everything in between. Moments like Chiarina's grief over her grandmother's death and Tracy's reflective evenings on her balcony are particularly poignant. These scenes are crafted with such care that they linger long after you’ve turned the page, making you feel deeply connected to the characters’ journeys.
One of the book's biggest strengths is its character development. Fanelli excels at creating multi-dimensional characters whose personal struggles mirror broader societal issues. The world-building is vivid and immersive, and the detailed descriptions make you feel like you're right there with the characters. Passages like Chiarina’s interactions with Benji and Tracy’s debates about freedom with Rush highlight Fanelli’s ability to weave intricate emotional landscapes.
If I had to point out a weakness, it would be the frequent shifts in perspective. While it enriches the narrative, it can occasionally disrupt the flow, making it a bit challenging to follow at times. A bit more elaboration on certain plot points could also enhance clarity and impact. But these are minor quibbles in an otherwise fantastic read.
Personally, "Cathay Combat" resonated with me on many levels. The characters’ struggles and triumphs felt incredibly real, and the exploration of how technology intersects with our personal lives is both timely and relevant. Fanelli’s ability to blend complex themes with accessible storytelling makes this book a joy to read. It’s not just a story—it’s an experience.
All in all, "Cathay Combat" is a stellar continuation of the Crimson Tribune Saga. Fanelli’s masterful storytelling ensures that readers are both entertained and moved. If you’re looking for a book that skillfully blends personal and societal conflicts, leaving you with plenty to ponder, this is it. I wholeheartedly recommend "Cathay Combat" and can’t wait to see what Fanelli has in store for us next.

The world has been crumbling ever since China spread the virus across the globe, and this book narrates the story of Tracy and her journey during the time of Covid-19 ,the virus that confined people to their homes, forcing them to safeguard themselves from its deadly grasp.
Once, people used to meet and socialize freely, but during COVID-19, everyone imprisoned themselves within their homes to stay protected from the virus, which was continuously claiming lives ruthlessly.
This book tells the story of how the character endured that period of COVID-19, how their life evolved, and how they are now coping as they reintegrate into a society that upholds rights and freedoms.
This book is the sequel to Czaritan, the first installment in the Crimson Tribune saga. In this continuation, the story progresses into the COVID phase, and the protagonist strives to promote her country’s goods. However, wherever she looks, she finds products from China dominating the market.
Having read the first book in the series, I had a different expectation for this sequel. Now that I have completed the second part, it did not quite meet what I had anticipated.
I thought this book would shed some light on what transpired during the escape from Czaritan, but it had something else planned for this segment.
Overall, the book is well-woven and easy to read. The story feels relatable, as we all faced similar challenges during the COVID-19 crisis. It felt like I was reliving those moments. However, upon finishing, I couldn't help but feel that America didn’t suffer as much as we Indians did.

Book Review: “Czaritan” by Christina Fanelli
An intriguing mix of intrigue and revelation, "Czaritan" by Christina Fanelli takes readers to the secret underground metropolis of Jancrest. The story follows Tracy, an adventurous journalist, as she sets out to discover the mysteries of this mysterious realm. Readers are drawn into the mystery and wonder of Jancrest by Fanelli's evocative writing and detailed descriptions.
Truth, autonomy, and the ethical difficulties of revealing concealed realities are among the subjects that the book excels at exploring. Tracy is a sympathetic and complex heroine because of her tenacity and internal conflicts. The story keeps readers interested and leaves them wanting more because of its thrilling turns and well portrayed environment.
The plot could have been improved in a few areas, though. The novel would have gained more depth if Jancrest's beginnings and the history of some key aspects had been explored in greater detail. Notwithstanding these small issues, the novel effectively creates an engaging setting and provides space for more in-depth research in subsequent volumes.
For those who enjoy secret societies and investigative adventures, "Czaritan" is an engrossing and provocative debut. It lays the stage for an interesting adventure as the first episode in the "Crimson Tribune Saga," and I'm interested to see where Fanelli takes the series next.

Christina Fanelli’s Cathay Combat, the second installment in the Crimson Tribune Saga, expands on the world introduced in Czaritan with intricate world-building and heightened stakes. The land of Cathay is brought to life with rich cultural details and political intrigue, immersing readers in a vibrant yet volatile setting. Claudia Fiero continues to shine as a determined protagonist, balancing her journalistic instincts with the weight of new moral dilemmas. However, the introduction of numerous characters and subplots occasionally makes the story feel scattered, pulling focus from her central journey.
The action sequences are gripping and the twists keep the tension alive, but the book’s pacing can be uneven. While Fanelli’s attention to detail enriches the narrative, some chapters linger too long on exposition, slowing the momentum. The exploration of loyalty, truth, and sacrifice adds depth, but certain twists feel predictable, and the ending leaves more questions unanswered than some readers might prefer.
Overall, Cathay Combat is a worthy sequel that raises the stakes and deepens the series’ themes, even if it stumbles under the weight of its ambition. It’s a gripping read for fans of political intrigue and complex characters, though a tighter narrative might have made it even more impactful.

The book dives into the profound shifts that occur in society during challenging times, offering a mirror to real-world events. It highlights how colleges, once bustling with students, transition to quiet online classrooms, while retailers like Amazon and Walmart thrive on the demand for essentials and entertainment. The rise in sales of board games like Monopoly and Life brings a nostalgic touch, showing families finding comfort in simple joys amidst uncertainty.
The narrative paints a striking picture of families adapting to confinement—some bonding over shared time, while others face growing tensions. The surge in animal adoptions brings a heartwarming note, showcasing people seeking companionship and purpose. In contrast, the struggles of essential workers, who risk their lives without additional compensation, underline the stark realities of an imbalanced system.
Technology emerges as a double-edged sword in the story. Streaming services, online dating, and virtual connections flourish, providing distraction and connection, but the rising use of depression medications and increased suicide rates hint at the silent battles individuals face. The book thoughtfully portrays this contrast, emphasizing resilience while acknowledging vulnerability.

Reading Cathay Combat was an incredibly moving experience for me. The story picks up as the characters navigate their lives post-Jancrest, now facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. What struck me most was how real and relatable their struggles felt—whether it was balancing personal lives with professional hurdles or grappling with the uncertainty of a global crisis.
Tracy’s shocking discoveries about China added an unexpected international twist to the narrative, giving the story even more depth. I especially connected with Benji’s journey as a hospital facility engineer. The raw portrayal of his day-to-day challenges during the pandemic resonated with the struggles faced by so many frontline workers.
What I loved most was how the book wove together personal and societal shifts. The pandemic’s impact on relationships, families, and careers was explored with such authenticity that it felt like a mirror to our collective experiences.
Cathay Combat isn’t just a story about the pandemic—it’s about resilience, adaptability, and the human spirit. It left me reflecting on my own journey through those uncertain times. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys heartfelt, thought-provoking stories that stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page.

In "Cathay Combat," the highly anticipated sequel to "Czaritan," author Christina Fanelli expertly weaves a compelling narrative that captures the chaos and uncertainty of the early COVID-19 days. Set in a post-Jancrest world🌍, this installment seamlessly weaves together the personal struggles and societal upheavals that unfold amidst the global crisis.
Tracy’s shocking discoveries about China🇨🇳 serve as a catalyst for both personal growth and escalating tension, highlighting the complexities of international relations during uncertain times. Rush, acting as the stabilizing force within the Crimson Tribune offices, embodies the challenge of leadership amid chaos. Living through the pandemic was full of complexities. Let me tell you about a book that gives you an emotional ride into the world of those complexities.
Version Read : Kindle
The characters have to navigate through both personal and global challenges. The way their stories unfold, a layer after another, is surprisingly relatable. I could actually empathize and feel each emotion encapsulated in their journeys. Each struggle felt very real. The writing style is lucid yet has an impact that can make you feel like you are meandering through the testing time with each character.
This book blends individual experiences with the broader societal impact of the pandemic and that has made this book truly stand out. I didn't feel at any point of time that the story was rushed. The pacing is well-balanced. I will not give any spoilers here. The emotional upheavals have been handled with care. I can't resist sharing that this book has a narrative that’s both heartbreaking and uplifting. The well-researched background and the outline blending subtly into it add the icing on the cake.

The second book in the Crimson Tribune Saga builds on the world first introduced in Czaritan, making it even more vivid and complex. This time, the land of Cathay feels even more alive, filled with cultural richness and deep political conflicts. The tension keeps growing, making every moment feel important. Claudia Fiero remains a strong and determined character, but now she faces even tougher choices.
I loved how she had to balance her passion for journalism with difficult moral decisions. The story pulled me in completely, and I enjoyed exploring this unpredictable and exciting world even more.

What impressed me most about this novel is how carefully it portrays the emotional atmosphere of a world beginning to change. The story does not rely on constant action; instead, it focuses on the thoughts and experiences of the characters as they try to make sense of the information around them. Tracy’s curiosity and determination to research what is happening become the heart of the narrative. She represents that natural human instinct to search for understanding when events feel confusing or uncertain.
At the same time, the relationship between Tracy and Rush provides an emotional anchor for the story. Their conversations feel thoughtful and genuine, like two intelligent people trying to piece together a puzzle that is still unfolding. The quiet moments they share discussing news, cooking together, or simply reflecting on the day give the novel warmth and realism. It’s this balance between global uncertainty and personal connection that makes the book so engaging.

In Book 2 of the Crimson Tribune Saga once again the author is back with Tracy's new adventure.
Set in the backdrop of Covid 19 infection the story takes the reader's through Tracy's journey of understanding how China influences everything in the world. It takes us through the Chinese tactics of flooding the market with sub standard products and also how the mishandling of Covid 19 by China made it a global pandemic.
Like the first book in this one also Tracy's adventure starts with a simple incident. Losing her smartphone during the holiday. Her search for a new smartphone opens a Pandora's box with the problems world is facing because of Chinese secrecy in disseminating information. The book also deals with the changes the world had to undergo post Covid 19. A must read for all adventure lovers.

This book stands out because of the way it focuses on everyday people rather than dramatic heroes. Benji’s character is a perfect example of that. He is someone simply doing his job, yet through his actions we see a quiet strength and reliability that becomes increasingly important as the story progresses.
His willingness to help others, particularly Chiarina, reveals a compassionate side that makes him incredibly relatable. The author allows their connection to develop naturally, through simple conversations and acts of kindness rather than dramatic declarations. Those small moments carry emotional weight because they feel authentic. By the end of the story, I found myself deeply appreciating Benji’s presence in the narrative. He represents the kind of person who keeps things running when everything else feels uncertain.

How will they navigate and solve this new problem in their lives? Read this book to find out.
The narrative of the book is relatable due to Covid-19 and takes us back to the days when we were in lockdown and had to experience it in our daily lives. I found the read to be quite relatable and would definitely suggest it to my fellow readers.

One of the most touching storylines in this book revolves around Chiarina and her grandmother Sophia. Their relationship is portrayed with remarkable tenderness and emotional honesty. Every conversation between them feels genuine, filled with affection and unspoken concern.
What makes their storyline so powerful is the sense of distance created by circumstances beyond their control. The frustration and sadness that Chiarina experiences feel painfully real, yet the love between them never weakens. Sophia’s gentle wisdom and humor provide moments of comfort even in difficult situations. These scenes remind readers how important family bonds are, especially during times of uncertainty. It’s a beautifully written relationship that adds emotional depth to the entire novel.

I appreciated how this novel explores the challenges faced by those working in journalism through Rush’s perspective. His role in trying to report accurate information during a confusing time adds a fascinating layer to the story. The pressure he feels to balance truth, responsibility, and public awareness is portrayed with realism and nuance.
Rush is not presented as someone who has all the answers. Instead, he is thoughtful and cautious, aware that information can influence how people react. That sense of responsibility makes his character compelling. His discussions with Tracy also highlight the complexity of understanding global events while still maintaining a normal life at home. It’s a perspective that adds both intellectual depth and emotional realism to the narrative.
