They came in the dark, silent as shadow walkers, deadly as giants.
On the last night of Yule, savage raiders ransack a Viking village.
Only a few survive.
Years later, Eindride, the Jarl’s son, sets on a fruitless quest to avenge his clan. Upon his return, he confronts the devastating reality that he has unwittingly led his people to the same fate. His village lies in ruins, his kin slaughtered.
A wanderer, who claims to have witnessed the devastation, guides the Viking to the attackers. Now Eindride’s chance at revenge lies in the hands of an enigmatic stranger.
Will this treacherous path finally lead to vengeance, or his death?

“When the goal is to find the deepest water, instead of learning how to swim, the mind is far from the shade of Yggdrasil."
Insightful, atmospheric, and cyclic. The blood-stained Norse revenge story is full of animal instincts and they take you back to ancient times. Times when things were simpler but too aggressive.
".........................And what deeper hurt than allowing you to live with your past drenched in the acrid stench of fire? That is a deeper wound than death. Death is momentary, life is…long.”
Melancholy and inevitability are so intense here that it sounds like a deep winter night.
The spicy rabbit process, Dane, and Lyminge Monastery demand you to dive in.
Overall, it is a fresh look at ancient blood-bound revenge stories with Norse icing.
This book is super intense and gripping! It's a mix of historical fiction, adventure, and mystery, and it hooks you right from the start with its vivid imagery and high stakes.
It's about this young Viking, Eindride, who's out for revenge after his clan is massacred. The story gets deeper as he faces the consequences of his actions. It's all about loss, vengeance, and the heavy burden of leadership.
Overall, it's an engaging story with lots of emotion and a complex main character.
This was a strong entry in this series, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed the genre based on this. The characters worked well in this world and was invested in what was going on. Relvin Gonzalez wrote this well and left me wanting to read more.
