John Rota’s “Let Go, Let Golf: Mindful Ways to Practice with Purpose” offers a unique perspective on the game of golf by combining skill-building strategies with mindfulness and personal development. This is designed for entry-level players and encourages more intentional, fulfilling approaches to the sport.

The chapters are short and engaging, introducing practical techniques that help players improve their game all while developing traits such as composure and strategic thinking. It goes beyond the traditional golf instruction by blending humor with actionable drills, and philosophical insights into a helpful guide.

One of the standout features of this book is the creative and practical advice it offers, particularly in the Letting Go chapter. Here, Rota discusses the value of playing games during practice sessions to maximize time and enjoyment on the range. By engaging in purposeful play, golfers can optimize their practice time while remaining present and observant of their surroundings. This approach not only enhances performance but also nurtures a sense of joy and creativity often missing in conventional training methods. These tactics, paired with the emphasis on mindfulness, set the book apart from others in its genre.

Rota’s writing is clear, warm, and humorous. This makes complex ideas accessible and enjoyable. The only critique would be that the book could benefit from more anecdotes or personal stories to deepen its connection with readers. A slightly more structured layout would also enhance the flow so that readers can easily navigate the wealth of insights presented.

“Let Go, Let Golf” is a must-read for anyone passionate about the game of golf, from seasoned players looking to refine their approach to beginners eager to build a solid foundation. It is of particular value for its emphasis on mindfulness and purposeful practice and will benefit those seeking to combine skill development with personal growth. Let Go, Let Golf: Mindful Ways to Practice with Purpose by John Rota is a refreshing, insightful, and innovative take on the game of golf one that blends personal growth with practical improvement in a way few books achieve. Through engaging short stories, gentle humor, and thoughtful guidance, Rota shows golfers how mindfulness can elevate both their performance and their overall enjoyment of the sport.

The book stands out for its ability to transform practice into something purposeful and deeply fulfilling. Rota offers drills, mindset tools, and imaginative exercises that help players reconnect with curiosity, playfulness, and presence qualities often lost in the pursuit of perfection. Beyond technique, he highlights core traits such as strategic thinking, emotional composure, and resilience, making this not just a golf book but a life book.

Whether you're a competitive golfer, a weekend player, or someone simply drawn to the artistry of the game, Let Go, Let Golf provides a compelling reminder that improvement comes from intention, joy, and letting go. Its uplifting message encourages readers to simplify their approach, embrace the moment, and see both golf and life through a more mindful lens.

A beautifully written and faith-affirming guide to inner renewal and divine empowerment.

Janine Hall’s Knowing That He Will: Experiencing God’s Transforming Power is a gentle yet powerful exploration of spiritual self-discovery and the liberating truth of knowing who we are in Christ. With warmth, insight, and sincerity, Hall guides readers through the process of reflection, healing, and trust encouraging them to face the past, embrace faith, and experience God’s power in every aspect of life.

What makes this book particularly moving is its balance between honesty and hope. Hall writes not from abstraction but from a place of deep conviction and lived faith, reminding readers that true transformation begins when we surrender control and allow God to work through us. Her message is simple yet profound: strength and joy are found not in striving, but in resting in divine identity.

Knowing That He Will is a comforting and inspiring resource for anyone seeking to strengthen their walk with God and rediscover peace through spiritual renewal. It’s a deeply personal and uplifting invitation to faith that endures.

Growing up I never understood why so many people liked golf. It didn't really sound that appealing to try to hit a tiny ball down a giant grassy green path to try and get it to role into a tiny cup. It wasn't until COVID hit in 2020 that I realized golf is WONDERFUL! However, the entire game is mental, and not many people talk about how to get better at the mental game of golf. This book does just that!

I love a good mindfulness book, but to have it paired with bettering my golf game? Yeah, that's an even better combination.

Good Vibes:
-Short and easy chapters to follow
-easy and understandable writing style
-motivational quotes
-things to practice
-humorous (giggled to myself a couple different times)
-in general just good vibes

Bad Vibes:
-got nothing for this section lol

If you're looking for a way to actually improve your golf game I would suggest picking up this book. Mindset is everything. Change your mindset, change your life (or in this scenario your golf game)

Thank you NetGalley and Amplify publishing for providing a copy for me to read!

Does your golf game leave something to be desired? Are your putts a point of frustration for you? In this book, Golf is first and foremost a mental game. If one’s mind isn’t in the right place or one isn’t being mindful, the golf game suffers. John Rota covers an unconventional, innovative way to improve and elevate your golf game.

As an avid golfer and a mindfulness practitioner, this book hit home for me. The advice is useful, at times humorous, and informative. The layout is well done, engaging, and easily accessible. The chapters were short and digestible. The quotes were memorable. Readers who are golfers or just want to be more mindful will want to pick this one up. Recommended for most library collections.

Its a cliche that golf is first and foremost a mental game and this book’s focus on ‘mindfulness’ is a refreshing approach that seasoned professionals or complete amateurs like me who are returning to the game after many years will find helpful. John Rota also throws in some great quotes from philosophers that inspire and motivate. He includes many exercises and drills to improve performance in practice. The author “is an avid golfer and is always looking for ways to improve his craft.” A sentiment I fully endorse. The illustrations by Victor Juhasz are excellent. I would like to thank the author and his publisher Amplify publishing http:/amplifypublishinggroup.com/ and NetGalley for providing a digital ARC for review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The premise of this book is an awesome idea that offers new forms of mindfulness to those who find traditional mindfulness to be newfangled nonsense, too girly or for hippies and like sports since some of the elements can be applied to other sports not just golf. I also liked the sketches which were a great touch to the book.

Read this review and more on my blog, uncovered-books.

I received a free copy of Let Go, Let Golf from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

Lots of different golf books are out there trying to help you improve your game. Let Go, Let Golf tries to go about making you look at golf (and thus at life) with a different perspective.

Simple things like using humour and unconscious meditations can make a huge impact in your game without really changing anything. The biggest focus I thought that made this book different from others was that it seemed to focus more on getting the enjoyment out of golf, not necessarily using these skills to actually improve your game. Chances are that your game will improve by doing some of what is recommend here, but having a more enjoyable time on the course really was the main goal of this book.

A good book on the mental game that the average golfer would benefit from.
