Possessive Monsters #6

Signed In Incubus

Rate this book

Note to self: never cast a spell you find on the internet.
Most people cry when they’re left at the altar. Me? I cast a spell to find the perfect man. But when a very bare and uh…impressive…incubus appears in my living room, I know I messed up. Serves me right for trying a spell I found on the internet!

I’m both disappointed and relieved when Prax is summoned away. I think he’s gone for good until I wake the next morning to my sexy incubus in nothing but an apron, making me breakfast in bed.

But my magical screw-up has attracted more than one dirty-minded demon, and now I’m dealing with a bunch of dangerous and wildly inappropriate unwanted suitors. As we scramble to break the spell, I discover that Prax is genuine, funny, and super protective. Plus, our chemistry is off the charts! I’m falling for him. Hard.

Too bad incubi aren’t known for forever-afters. Will I be able to nullify the spell in time? And will it cost me another broken heart?

Signed in Incubus is a standalone paranormal romance. Sweet, funny, & ultra steamy. HEA guaranteed.

Prax’s story

Ok so the story before (Mateo) was a little meh….. made up for it with Prax! An incubus who was recently freed, answered a summons that was calling for some booty- well it was a witchy drunk dial from Penny who was left at the alter and heartbroken trying to search for her mate. Well of course the spell backfired, super cute, only a little smutty but it was more story than smut- loved it!!!

4.4 stars.
Loved the banter and the dynamic, and the smut.
This was basically what that one book that pissed me off, with its FM, and fade to black scenes, was supposed to be.
But the overall plot and relationship were just missing Something unnameable, for me.

Hot hilarious incubus+Witch

He took a step toward me, sex and sin incarnate. “Coffee, tea, or me?”

This book was so cute and hilarious. I loved how funny and unique the characters personalities were, especially Prax the incubus demon. His outfits were so funny: cowboy attire, French maid outfit, and much more. I also loved Penny's infatuation with sharks. It made them feel real on a whole other level.

Penny's fiance no showed at their wedding, her parents blamed her, and she got drunk and performed a true love finding spell that actually worked. I jajaja'd at her oh 💩 reaction that it'd really worked, a hot incubus forming from smoke, and her first reaction was to run to get salt packets from her fast food to trap him in. Spoiler, the packets weren't enough to do the job- and wouldn't have worked even if it was. But Prax's carefree and funny attitude immediately put her ease.

I needed the laughs this book gave me. But it was also super hot! The way he can form whatever he likes put a whole new meaning on monster 🐓 & fancy peen 🤣. One of the authors hottest books to date for sure, they way he made her take it, and slightly too big had me 🥵🥵👌.

The found family in this book was A1 as well, the tight knit group of witch besties, and monsters made it even better.

This book can standalone with a HEA for the couple but do to recurring cast and overarching storylines I suggest reading in order. I particularly wanted to know about the m/m couple who were wizards that featured so much in this book lol.

I'll def continue this series, it's not even a question.

Read whatever makes you happy fellow book lovers! Then tell me about it lol.

I love this series! And I love the direction it has taken, where it includes more then the immediate group. I adore Pax! He is what he is, but it goes so much deeper then the surface level. Penny is freaking adorable. She's getting through some bs and coming into her own and I love their chemistry! Definitely my new favorite of the series.

4&1\2 fabulous🌟's for Signed in Incubus 💖🌟🔥

This series is so much fun! The world building is fantastic and the characters have chemistry. The banter is witty and there is so much humor done well. We met Prax in the last book he's an incubus. He was chained for a few centuries to a wizard and he's now finally free. When he answers a witches summons he's expecting a hot date not to meet the love of his life. Penny was left at the alter and her very wealthy parents are very disappointed with her. She's tired if trying to please them and just want to find a forever love so she casts a spell and out pops Prax! Can an Incubus be her forever? What if the spell went wrong? Or what if Prax is exactly what she needs and will change her life and bring her the love and acceptance she's always wanted. you've got to read and find out!! This is such a fun read! Magic meddling parents best friends and a love worth writing about! Highly recommend🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🌟🔥💖🔥🌟💖🌟🔥💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥

I finished the series!! I loved it.

Each book follows a separate couple, a monster and a human(ish) person, some are witches, or shifters with human forms, etc. Each book has a specific plot line that develops and is wrapped up by the end of each book. The romance goes from zero to 100 in each book, because the monsters are possessive, that’s the whole point. They see someone they want and they claim them. Each book contains bits of other characters from past books because all the characters know each other in some way. This whole series was quick, easy, spicy, and thoroughly enjoyable. It’s not masterpiece writing by any means but I absolutely loved it.

Gleeful Goblin Review: It's entirely possible I have an obsession with this series. A JUSTIFIED obsession. The variety of monster MMC's and interconnected world building makes me just giddy to read each new book that comes out. This book especially though feels like I could have been Penny, accidentally summoning an incubus while looking for love and stubbing my toe while swearing the whole time feels very relatable. And tbh, I would also have been A Mess just like Penny if I got hit with this from said incubus: “Now, why would a cute little witch like you need to cast a spell requesting my”—he waggled his eyebrows almost cartoonishly—“services? You could’ve just asked.” He momentarily puffed into smoke and then reformed around me, his chest against my back and arms around my waist. “I’d be more than willing to oblige.” “Uh…Prax…I think there’s been a mistake.” I tried to escape his strong embrace but couldn’t. I was trapped. So I turned around to face him instead and ended up pressed tight to his brawny chest. He smelled like a camping trip, complete with bonfire, trees, and toasted marshmallows. His presence enveloped me like he was touching me everywhere all at once through my clothes. A thousand invisible fingers were lighting little fires all over my body and a really big one between my legs. This must be the incubus magic I’d read about: the ability to inspire lust. No kidding. Prax was $èxy as fück. Desire was growing and intensifying in me every moment until I was so overwhelmed with need that I felt as if I couldn’t even breathe. I had to do something before I made another mistake and dug myself an even bigger hole. This whole spell nonsense had been a horrible idea. I threw up some magic of my own to counteract his. The feeling of uncontrollable lüst abated just long enough for me to think. I wasn’t a particularly powerful witch. At best, I was just this side of mediocre, and I didn’t know how long the respite would last. Luckily, Prax didn’t keep pushing the issue. It was too embarrassing to tell him that I’d drunkenly cast a spell I’d found online to find the perfect man after my fiancé no-showed at the altar yesterday. I’d had to explain to all our guests, most of whom had made the trip to Darlington especially for the event, that the wedding was off. Everything was already paid for, so I’d called the MC and told him just to make it a party and ensure everyone had fun. Then I’d hightailed it out of there to avoid being bombarded with questions I couldn't answer. I still wasn’t ready to face everyone, especially my family. My cousin Deanna, who was only a bridesmaid because my parents forced me to have her, would only rub salt in the wound. And my parents would probably find a way to blame me for the whole fiasco, as usual. So I left out the part about being a ditched witch and just told him about the spell, showing him the page on the Let’s Talk About Hex forum where I’d found it, which was still up on my screen. The spell was the most popular and well-reviewed one of its kind, with an impressive average four-point-five star rating. That was unheard of in a forum where some users wrote reviews like, “Amazing! This potion literally saved my life! Three-point-six-seven stars.” A pair of old-fashioned spectacles popped into existence, perched on Prax’s nose. I was pretty sure incubi didn’t have myopia since they could shape their corneas perfectly, and even if they didn’t, they didn’t need eyes to see, but it was kind of cute. “This is a love spell. A forever until you are wedded and bedded spell,” Prax said, frowning. “That’s not what I signed up for.” “Technically, you didn’t sign anything.” “True.” He glanced around the room at the moving boxes and empty wine bottles. “But you look like you need some company. I’ll stick around.”

AND IT JUST TAKES OFF FROM THERE. The story is sweet, spicy, but also genuine. Like most of the stories that I end up revisiting over and over it's really about connecting not just with another person but with yourself. And after being ditched at the altar who among us wouldn't need a little help reconnecting with ourselves and feeling worthy of love? I adored the journey here and I highly recommend this book. 5/5 Stars.

*ARC Review*

"Don't worry, I won't drop you. Unless it's into a bed. And even then, only if you beg me to."

Penny (short for Penelope) is a witch. Not the best but hey we got to start somewhere...right? After being left at the altar and chastised by her overbearing and just god awful parents, Penny is in her feelings.

So like any other heartbroken witch do? Decides to cast a love spell she found on the Internet (of all places) for the man that is meant for her. Because why wait for the universe when you can expedite the process?

Enter Prax, a very hot Incubus demon fresh out off of being held captive by wizards for a couple of centuries. Obviously he's very eager to answer the summons from the spell except there are requirements he isn't too fond of.

Once Penny gets over the shock of her love spell mishap and a little comedic banter between her and her new guest, Prax finds himself overly intrigued and offers to stick around until the spell is satisfied.

Things seem fine except the spell has some disastrous side effects that includes some unwelcomed interest. Naturally Prax feels obligated to ensure Penny's safety while they work with their combined friend group to break the spell.

Throughout the course of this Penny and Prax grow closer both through very gratifying magic boosting sex, breakfast, dates and other shenanigans.

What I loved is you could read this as a stand alone but it's better if you read the previous stories. However, this is strong on its own. Prax was very layered which was unexpected but in a good way. The comedic timing was great and even though he is a demon this was light and entertaining. You find yourself rooting for Penny while she is working through issues with herself and her family. To see her grown through the course of the story was well paced and deliciously satisfying.

You even get a plot twist at the end but a hilarious and hot HEA is guaranteed.

Penny’s just been jilted at the altar and drunkenly casts a spell to find her perfect man. She figured it would lead her to Mr. Right at some point, but instead incubus Prax immediately pops into her living room. He answered the magical summons thinking it was a booty call, but instead, he’s found himself bound to the caster. Not that he’s too bothered by it — while Penny tries to find out how to nullify the spell, it’s no hardship for him to hang out with the sexy little witch. The longer they spend together, the more both start to think that the spell Penny cast might’ve worked after all.

I adored Penny and Prax together. Prax was hilarious in the previous book (about manticore Mateo and Eva), so I was delighted to see him again — and for him to find love! Penny really was perfect for him, matching his lustful, adventurous and mischievous nature pound for pound. Their smexy times were on 🔥! And Prax was such a romantic, which I did not see coming. He’s the perfect book boyfriend and I would give anything to hang out with them both!

If you like sexy possessive monsters falling head over heels/claws for smart, sassy women, this whole series is for you. Cannot recommend this book and this series highly enough.

This was a fantastic read that I didn’t want to end but it’s the kind of book that you read again and still learn something new each time and this is Penny and Prax’s story. Penny is a witch and has just been left at the altar by her fiancé who never showed up, so after tell the guest to enjoy themselves she runs away embarrassed and not wanting her parents to add there 10 cent worth she feels bad enough. So what’s a killed girl to do she gets a spell of the internet for the prefect man and it doesn’t work out to well because now she has a Demon Incubus in her lounge room. Prax is a Demon Incubus who has been held in captivity by wizards until the witch summoned him and he made his escape and when he see’s the little witch that summoned him for his services it might not be to bad. Penny is shocked when a gorgeous incubus turns up with one thing on his mind and she tells him everything that happen and the spell she cast which had brought him and others as well. The sizzling chemistry between them is off the charts and has them steamy up the sheets but can they have a future or not because it’s not in Prax’s nature to settle down and so together they try to fix the spell all the while falling in love. Great book.

Maggie has done it again. Each time I meet a new possessive ol' paranormal they then become my favourite and it keeps happening although there is just something about Prax that makes me think he'll be the one to remain on top. Penny is brilliant and I love that she tries to resolve what she thought was a wrong she had done. She is kind, compassionate and caring and it seems that her parents have no realisation of what they have in her, being too shallow and selfcentered. Prax answered a summons without even really reading the brief and that shows me how human he is in. I mean how many times have people gone to meetings without reading the agenda??!! He goes against his inante nature a little when it turns out it was not what he thought it was and yet cannot bear to leave the little witch so sad. For all that has happened to him in the past he has a good heart.

I adore this series and especially this author's characters. They are fun, likeable and realistic despite the whole paranormal side of it. The it is not just the main couples but also friends are fully developed and also make you hope that you find out more about them too. The world building is great not too much that you get lost in it but enough that you feel you have a good handle on it all.

*A BIT DREAMY*
Prax may be hungry for energy of the shmexy-type, but Penny is finding that she’s craving Prax s’more and s’more. Even I would find it hard to resist an aura reminiscent of a camping trip, complete with bonfire, pine trees, and toasted marshmallows.

Circling the little witch like a great white – err… great red? – Prax is ready to sink his teeth into an extended stay with his shark-loving summoner who was jilted at the altar, though initially he had only merry intentions, not the marrying kind. It’s a good thing he was bound and determined to stay by her side, because he wasn’t the only one intent on picking up Penny and pocketing her.

Of course, if you’ve read the prior books in this series (all standalones that hold hands), you’ll be well acquainted with the characters that have brief cameos in this segment. It’s a very pleasant reunion of souls. I found Signed in Incubus absolutely enduring, like the warm fuzzy feeling of being presented breakfast, served hot in bed. Minus the pesky crumbs.

You should take a bite out of this Maggie Mayhem story… Oh, nah...
You should enjoy her whole published buffet!.

A young witch is looking for Mr. Perfect and gets what she least expects. Not only does she summons an incubus, but so many other supernaturals.
Penny is, as she puts it, a mediocre witch. Despite this she casts a spell to help her meet her perfect match. This is the only thing she has control over in her life. She is contantly being watched by her parents. They control her money, her job and where she lives. This spell has some positives, she has found the motivation and support to seek her independence from her parents.
Prax is a recently freed incubus who is learning the ways of this new modern world. When he answers the summons, he meets a sad woman who isn't looking for a "quick night". There is more to this demon than the incubus traits. He spends time with her to cheer her up and has an instant connection. Prax is funny and hot. He also finds a protective nature he didn't know he could have.
Penny and Prax are a good couple. They feed each other's needs and provide support.
If you love the Darlington world and learning about more supernaturals, this is the book for you.

- Paranormal romance
- Spell gone wrong?

When novice witch Penny is left at the altar, she decides to cast a spell to find the love of her life. However, she used a spell she found on the internet and it didn't work the way she thought....she summons Prax, an incubus.

Prax thought the summons was for a booty call, but soon realizes differently. He isn't ready to be anyone's forever, but he's all up being their for right now. But Penny is trying to be her own person - her parents are controlling, her former fiance was their choice, not Penny's. Her parents own the house she's living in and got her a job. How can Penny break free from all of their ties?

Penny is very attracted to Prax, but isn't sure she can trust him. However, she has inadvertantly created a bond between them, which she needs to figure out.

I though Prax was an absolute joy of a character. He is newly released from a contract and is acclimating to his new life in the modern world. He has such a love of life and is very drawn to the charming Penny.

Although this is part of a series, this book can be enjoyed as a standalone.

3.5/5 stars

okay for a monster romance book, it was okay. it was really cute and it was insta-love but sometimes i like it. in this instance i did like it but there were a lot of other factors. this would have gotten 4 stars but the ending kinda sucked. i hate hate hate the memory loss trope and i feel like it wss really unnecessary especially since he only forgot about her for like one chapter. and she forgave him way too fast. like i get it was a short book, but if you wanted to include some plot into this smut book, just make it a chapter or two longer. like it was only 250 pages basically.

but the characters were pretty good tbh. i liked pax’s character, but it felt very out of character for an incubus to fall in love so easily. idk i feel like this would have scored higher for me if it was longer and some of the plot was expanded upon. also there were a lot of cheesy lines that i feel like ive read in hundreds of other books at this point. like it was cute but holy fuck if i read another book where it says ‘she fits perfectly against me. as if we were meant to be’ ONE more time, im going to fucking lose it. anyways 3.5 stars for me.

This is a standalone but a few of the characters have appeared in other books. Prax was recently rescued from centuries being trapped by an evil warlock. He's figuring out the modern world and enjoying his freedom. He's generally pretty easy going and looking for a good time. I was glad to see his growth and happy for his HEA.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about Penny. She spends a lot of timing whinging about how her parent's control her life. But girl is in her thirties with a college degree. It seems way past time for her to be capable of opening her own bank account, buying her own car and finding her own place to live, much less her own employment. All of which she let her parents take care of for her. It's quite irritating/exhausting and takes way to long for her to take even the smallest step to take control of her life.

But Penny and Prax are good together and their struggles mirror each other a bit. It's a sweet romance with some funny times and a bit of spice. I'm glad to see another HEA for these particular "Possessive Monsters"

Accidentally Summoning Her Future

Prax was one of the best MMCs we’ve had in this series so far. I absolutely loved him & Penny together. Penny sort of accidentally summoned our sexy incubus, and then realized he wasn’t all her spell summoned when it went a teensy bit wrong, so they needed to put their heads together to figure out how to break the spell. I was totally prepared to take him off her hands if she hadn’t realized what a catch he was, even if she figured all she could have in her future was heartbreak with an incubus 🥺😭 Good thing he was full of surprises, of all kinds 🫣😝🔥👀😈😂 One of the most entertaining storylines we’ve had in this series to date, and that’s really saying something since this whole series has been amazing. The whole story was throughly entertaining, humorous, romantic, and full of chemistry & passionate moments between our amazing couple. I can’t wait to see who’s next in the lineup to win our hearts ❤️

My Feedback/Review;

From the jump i knew i was going to enjoy this story, the main Female Character is a witch and i LOVE that aspect as soon as the story started out.

a few of my favourite lines in the very 1st chapter are:
'What the hell did one say to an accidentally conjured, ridiculously hot demon?'
'i'd heard of sex-on-a-stick, but this guy was sex-and-confidence-on-a-stick, which was even better.'

The tension between our 2 main characters is *chefs kisses* The growls and protectiveness of Prax had me melting.

This has got me out of a little bit of a slump with reading and im glad it did.

After being left at the altar by her boyfriend Travis, Penny decides to cast a spell for the perfect man for her. When Prax feels the pull of the spell he answers it and finds himself bound to Penny. When it looks like the spell has gone wrong as a wolf shifter, a troll and a wizard also appear to answer the call of the spell, Prax offers to help her. Add her parents to the problem and Penny finds herself having to hide. As they spend more and more time together they find themselves getting closer. A solution is at hand but it will have consequences and Prax makes a deficit decision. Witty, fun and full of drama, this book has everything you need for an enjoyable read. Be prepared to read it in one sitting as you won't be able to put it down. I would give it 10 stars if I could as I loved Penny and Prax's story.

This is a delightful, entertaining story with fascinating characters, action packed, spellbinding and delicious monster romance.💕 Penny got drunk and cast a spell for her perfect man after her fiancé was a no show at the alter yesterday. Her parents were pissed at her and told her to fix it and stop embarrassing them, miserable day. Now swirling vortex in living room, rumbly voice, mountain of muscle, horns and glowing eyes perfection, Prax Incubus Demon. Penny and Prax are delicious, steamy and fascinating couple, they are wonderful together. They will face dangerous situations, stressful challenges, betrayal, attacking monsters, wizards and heartbreaking choices. The spell is out of control and there’s only one way to stop it. This is a beautifully written story and I loved every second, I couldn’t put it down and I love the glorious, heartwarming ending. Amazing story and delightful reading.

2.5 ⭐️ This was….okay for a monster romance, but not one I’d rave about or suggest to others. It was cute and their chemistry and spice was good. But they lost me with the insta love especially considering the entire relationship arc takes place over like… two weeks? Come on.

The ending was…..annoying. The family logistics and conflict felt unbelievable and ruined a lot for me. I really hated the memory loss trope. And I CANNOT stand the fake “I’m not into you and I’m leaving” moment. It’s lazy conflict and writing tbh. The story would’ve been stronger without it.

That said, I did really love Pax as a character. He had me swooning. This was my first incubus book but it felt like he fell in love too quick? But again…my first time with an incubus story so what do I know. Loved his vibe, their chemistry and the spice was REALLY GOOD.

Better monster smut out there. This just wasn’t it.

Whie this book can be read as a stand-alone, it is so much better if you read the previous books. Prax is introduced in an earlier book as featured in a some as a flirly playboy type. It's the typical nature of an incubus plus he was recently released from a nefarious wizard's control.

After being left at the alter and seeking solace in some wine, Penelope casts an online spell to find her perfect man. She doesn't expect immediate results when in a poof of smoke Prax appears assuming a hookup without reading the contract. Let the fun, hijinks, and spell side-effects begin!

Another great book in Maggie Mayhem's monster series! Couldn't put it down as you don't see what's coming next. A feel good, humorous monster romance.

Penny is a self-described special ed witch whose latest attempt at a major spell for finding her perfect man after being jilted at the author brings her scorching hot incubus Prax.

Prax, recently freed from enslavement by a corrupt wizard, isn’t at all the type to settle down but decides to have a dalliance with the witch to spice up the ennui left behind by his captivity.

This seemingly mismatched pair receive far more than they bargained for and a hilarious, spicy adventure peppered with all the feels follows.

This is another fun read in the Redrock Security universe Maggie Mayhem has conjured up, and it might be my favorite installment to date. I loved every page and didn’t want it to end.

I was furnished an advance reader copy from the author and booksprout, and I’m happy to share my honest impressions.

Never cast a spell when you have had too much to drink or taken the words off the internet as witch MFC Penny learns when she summons an Incubus, MMC Prax.
Signed in Incubus is a fun story with a witch who was left at the alter on her wedding day and decides to conjure up a Mr. Right replacement.
A humorous, sweet, spicy and nicely written story soon unfolds.
Prax isn’t ready to leave when Penny tries to send him away because he isn’t quite what she was looking for but there is no denying an attraction sparks between them.
But Prax turns out not to be her only problem when some REAL craziness enters the picture because of that spell, Oh My!
Loved the story that is written well, has charming characters, adventure, romance, magic, mystery, and plenty of steam.

Penny's (h) life takes a turn for the bizarre when a spell found on the Internet meant to find Mr. Right accidentally summons Prax (H), a charming and dangerously attractive incubus. Already struggling from a broken engagement and the oppressive control of her family, Penny's world is thrown into further chaos by Prax's arrival. Their intense connection forces them to navigate a series of supernatural challenges and familial interference. As Penny strives to assert her independence, Prax finds himself unexpectedly drawn to the complexities of human emotions and modern life. Their journey is filled with magical mishaps, toxic family dynamics, and unwanted suitors. Together, they face trolls, betrayal, and an evolving bond that neither anticipated. Hot and steamy demon romance with plenty of magic, angst, humor, chaos and more on the path to love.

First things first ... that cover - WOWZA!
Maggie Mayhem has quickly become one of my favourite authors. All of her books are well written and the characters are so real that you feel like you are part of the action. I loved the story of Prax and Penny; the incubus and the not-so-magical witch. Prax 'pops' in when Penny casts a love type spell. But he's an incubus ... he couldn't be her forever love. Or could he?? Penny doesn't think so, and neither does Prax. But through all of the hi-jinks and nightclubs and 'suitors' ... Prax and Penny are drawn to each other over and over. I loved the ending of this one. So great. And I am so happy that Prax found love after being enslaved to a wizard for so long. Love definitely set him free. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
