Adam has played a role for so long that he lives half a life, burying the need within for the sake of appearances. Paul knows and accepts the man he is, but is gunshy and not willing to risk his heart again too soon. Janine cares for them both and is determined to help them by arranging a menage that is nothing short of pure hedonistic pleasure. Will love conquer all, or is each too afraid to reach for more?
Kassandra Cox has spent most of her life in the Philadelphia, PA area, although she has traveled extensively. Having always been an avid reader, she began to write during her many trips, jotting down short stories while on planes or trains. A foray into role play at a site for a favorite author, led to trying her hand at writing stories. She is an author of erotica covering several genres, both individually and with writing partner, Edward Tailor. Kassandra lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband of over 25 years, and their three children.
This m/m/f short story has a delightful twist. There is a hot, pre-constructed scene where two bottles of wine grease the wheels at a little party where the three-way action provides a marvelous means of introducing two of the three to each other. I thought this was a perfectly delicious way to attempt to perform a bit of matchmaking. Ergo, 'Three’s A Crowd' is fairly evident early on in this narration. I rather enjoyed this story once I was clued in to the main focus.
Adam is an accountant and partner in his firm, Hill and Associates. He somewhat neatly envisions his future family as a wonderful solidification for his position at his place of business. His good friend Janine, with whom he has had an ongoing dalliance creating a kind of 'friend with benefits' relationship, seems to see what is really needed in Adam's world. Adam believes he is being invited over to Janine's for a modest but pleasurable rekindling of their relationship with benefits. Oh wonderful, the scene is slowly coming together!
Paul is a graphic web designer and works primarily from his home. He recently had another painful breakup with a fellow who did not turn out to be as compatible as Paul wanted him to be. He is feeling more or less gun shy on the relationship side of life, but somehow Janine manages to convince him to come over for a party she is constructing with the obvious ultimate intention of getting Paul to meet Adam. She is also planning on enjoying herself to the max on several fronts. Oh, the best laid plans may actually sometimes be just that. Paul is a real hotty. I am enjoying this subterfuge more and more!
Janine is a pretty hot item in her own right. However, she, too, has not hooked up with terrific partner material yet. She knows Adam has dabbled in three-way sexual situations, but this will be new for her. That is definitely one of the plusses for this upcoming 'dinner party with benefits'. However, she certainly hopes to successfully match up Adam and Paul, since she likes them both as friends. I adored Janine and her chutzpah!
I believe the different twist within in this m/m/f entanglement is just spot on. I suggest everyone stay the course from the wine-enabled three-way party right to the conclusion. Since my preference is happy coupling whether they are m/m/f, or m/f/f, or m/m, or f/f, or even m/f. this story is a wonderful variation on attempting to ease folks onto the path of love and relationships. I recommend this as a very fun and satisfying read. Fantastic!
NOTE: This book was provided by Evernight Publishing for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I was excited to read Three’s A Crowd by Kassandra Cox because I love ménage books. I should have paid more attention to the title because it certainly gave me a strong hint as to the direction of the book. Yet, despite it turning into an M/M romance from a ménage, I still enjoyed this very quick read.
Adam has reached success in his professional life but something is missing. He is looking for someone to love and create a home and family with. Adam considers himself bisexual and is therefore looking for a woman to settle down with but hasn’t found the right one yet. His friend with benefits, Janine, recognizes that Adam is much more interested in men than women. She decides to play matchmaker and set him up with her gay friend Paul. Janine worries that Adam is not ready to admit his homosexuality so she sets up a threesome with the focus being on Adam.
Adam and Paul hit it off immediately and the sex is unbelievably hot. Paul is definitely interested in a relationship but Adam still believes that there is no room for a man in his real life. What follows is Adam’s emotional journey as he comes to terms with the reality that he is gay.
I was impressed with how well Ms. Cox was able to describe the struggle Adam goes through in recognizing which way his heart truly lies. And she does it in less than 40 pages. I felt the pain that Adam was dealing with as he wrestled with his concern about how people would react to his being with a man versus the fact that Paul made him feel happy and fulfilled. It’s a testament to Ms. Cox’s writing skills that I came to care so much about Adam and Paul in such a short time.
In addition to this emotional journey, Ms. Cox included some very hot sex. Each time they ended up in the bedroom, the chemistry between Paul and Adam scorched my e-reader and left me fanning myself.
While Janine doesn’t get her happy ending in Three’s A Crowd, Ms. Cox has plans for her. Adam and Paul try to return the matchmaking favor in the next book in the Ménage Mates series. With Ms. Cox’s strong writing skills, I can’t wait to see what they guys have planned for Janine.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
I wasn't sure about reviewing this book at first, because I hadn't read a lot of erotica with threesomes in them. However, I thought I would give it a go. I'm glad I did, because I loved it!
Adam is a wonderful character. He is an accountant in a prestigious firm, but there is a secret he has been hiding. He is bi-sexual, but is unsure of his colleague's reactions, so he pretends to be straight. This makes him feel lonely. I liked this character very much.
Janine is another wonderful character. As Adam's "friend with benefits", I found her to be a loyal and loving partner. However, it is her ability to see beyond Adam's persona and into his sadness that made me like her even more.
Paul is also a fantastic character. Being openly gay and just having had his heart broken by a failed romance, he wasn't looking for love. I liked Paul very much too!
As I had previously said, I haven't read a lot of erotic novels or novellas with threesomes, so I was unsure of what to expect. I thought it would be a "wham, bam" type of book. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was more of a romance story, and I was hooked from the first page! The characters each have their own say, and this gives the reader an insight into their thoughts and feelings. This novella is only 38 pages long, and in my opinion, a little too short! However, I was intrigued with the arc of the story, which flowed beautifully. I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
Kassandra Cox has written a fantastic erotic novella that is extremely HOT and STEAMY! *Fanning myself!!* This is the second novella I have read by this author, and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.
I do not recommend this book to younger readers (under 18) due to the explicit sexual content. However, if you love HOT and STEAMY erotica and/or are looking for a bit of F/M/M action, this book is for you! - Lynn Worton
Three’s Company: Ménage Mates was a complete surprise read for me. I fully expected to be heated by a sexy threesome and a HEA with Janine, Adam, and Paul. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t have minded that in the least. This book however took a completely different turn. There was a very hot m/m/f scene, but the story really revolves around Adam and Paul. Even during their m/m scene it was apparent they were connecting on a very emotional level and it gave the story an almost sweet love story feel to it. While Paul is secure in his sexuality and what he wants, Adam has always tried to live the “normal” life of having a wife, kids, etc. Luckily he realizes that his heart and his head have different plans. Janine didn’t really play a big part in this story other than really introducing Adam and Paul, but with the little teaser at the end, I know she’s going to be much more involved in the next book. I really loved the way the author wrote from the point of view of all the characters. I think Kassandra did a fantastic job touching on the realistic struggles that many gay couples face. The worry of acceptance by society, friends, and coworkers was very apparent in this book.. There was the deep emotional aspect to the characters which is always present in Kassandra Cox’s writing. You can’t help but love the characters and want them to have a HEA that they deserve. If you are new to the M/M genre, this is a great book to start with since it really deals with the romantic side, not just sex in the relationship.
Janine and Adam are friends from way back. They thought about giving a relationship a try but decided “friends with benefits” was best for them. Even though there was a sexual attraction and they can talk about everything, something was missing.
As Janine sits sipping her coffee thinking about what is going to happen tonight when Adam stops by for a rendezvous she can’t help but think it might be time to step out of the friends with benefits role. Her friend needs someone who can be there for him all the time, make his life happier. She remembers her college friend who is still heartbroken after their last relationship ended. Now the matchmaking wheels are going a mile a minute. Time to make a phone call and arrange an evening of pleasure for three but will she be able to talk her college buddy into it?
You’re going to love what happens when there is a knock on the door and the third is introduced into the mix. When Adam and the mystery guest meet eyes Janine is sure she made the right call. After the wine is gone she knows she is on her way to matchmaker of the year. Now Adam and Paul just need to see it too.
Kassandra did a wonderful job turning an M/F story into an M/M/F then an M/M. A little something for everyone*wink* Kassandra Cox is an Author you’re going to want to keep your eyes on!
You would think this book was a ménage with the F/M/M concept but like the title says three is a crowd.
Adam is career driven but knows his life is missing something. He’s known for a long time that he if bisexual but has always thought the he needed a wife and kids to make his life complete. That was until his best friend and occasional ‘friend with benefits’, Janine, decides to match make.
Now Paul shares the same best friend as Adam though he doesn’t know that. Paul is also gay. He’s never been with a woman sexually and has no desire to do so. He lets Janine talk him into a three-some. Paul is emotional and lonely just coming out of a disastrous relationship.
Ms. Cox tells you the struggle of one man trying to find himself, one that knows what he wants but not sure how to obtain it, and a woman determined to put them together. This is a well written story though I was a little thrown at the beginning with the concept a strictly gay man joining in a ménage with a female.
I look forward to more of this series from Ms. Cox.
Kassandra Cox's Three's Company is a lovely and unusual erotic menage story. It's a short novella about two men, Paul and Adam, who finally come to terms with wanting to be together in a relationship (amidst some torrid m/m/f and m/m sexual fireworks), and all the trepidation involved around such a decision. They are helped along by a mutual friend, Janine, who has a "friends with benefits" relationship with Adam. Adam is particularly nervous about where this is going as the successful, charismatic head of a company, and what it might mean for his career to come out. As such, the story had a romantic thread underlying the action, and tension arising from whether these two men could come to terms with what they want. The sex scenes were super hot - I don't read much m/m erotica, but the image of these two handsome hunks getting it on was surprisingly sexy. I look forward to reading more from Ms Cox!
Janine and Adam have been “friends with benefits” for a while now. Each of them is still looking for that one person to make their lives complete. On paper they would be perfect for each other. But there’s just one thing, Adam is bi-sexual and is leaning more towards preferring a male partner. However, he feels that having a male partner will cause problems in his job and everyday life. Janine knows that Adam would make an excellent catch for the right male. She has just the person in mind in her friend, Paul. Knowing that Adam might be a little nervous to approach a male on his own, she sets up little get together and hopes the sparks fly.
This was a fast, hot little read from a new author, Kassandra Cox. It’s got a great set up and interesting characters. I look forward to seeing more from this author.
