Kayena is Mai Queen. I 100% ship her with Kidrey. And OMG her prior husband needs to DIE!! He is SO ICK and just NO. He is going to be a major problem, I can tell. His obsession is scary and he needs to stop.
5, I really REALLY want the next one to be out now and it’s all my fault I read this so soon after it came out, stars.

I always have to get into these, it always takes me a bit before I am back into the story, no clue what is up with that. But this was a good volume with tons of planning, a guy falling in love with our MC (which is adorable, though I can also understand why he is getting frustrated as she keeps pushing another girl at him), some backflashes to her previous life (my heart broke for her), I loved seeing her scheme and get things on rails, the last bit with the head maid and the chef? Absolutely loved that! That last page *chef kiss*. I cannot wait to see how this one continues!
3.25/5 Chapter 46–80 It was better than the season 1. It's fun and lighthearted to read. I hope the push and pull would end soon and they get together😑
I don’t hate isekai or regressed villain stories. The trope is overused but it’s overused for a reason. I find them interesting to read. However I think even an interesting trope can become a drag if executed poorly. This story is a drag (personal opinion of course).
Element 1: The Male Lead It’s obviously the Duke. This much is obvious because it is the only character the protagonist has romantically interacted with thus far (this is the second of three volumes). Unfortunately he might be the most boring male lead I have ever read. He appears to have no passion or interests of his own. He is quite literally the protagonist’s side piece and it is infuriating. It makes their interactions repetitive and boring. I keep begging for another character to appear and become the protagonist’s love interest because puhhhh-leaaaaase this guy is so bland.
Element 2: The Character Goal The protagonist’s objective is what? I think she wants to survive, escape her doomed life as a royal, and marry whomever she wants? But all her intended actions do not read in this way. I can’t tell what direction we are going in this story.
Element 3: Nothing is going wrong Nothing going wrong is a story problem. Something has to happen that drives the characters to make an action. Action propels the story. The problem is nothing is happening. Everything is perfect. The protagonist is perfect. This is boring.
If someone asked me what the story is about, I can’t explain it with the character’s clear goal. This story only got interesting when the ladies in waiting decided to do something about the head chef and head maid (no further spoilers). This subplot was the most interesting part so far. Maybe they (Vera and Olivia) should be the main characters.
Kayena is an interesting character who has a lot of potential options with the way things are playing out in this new lifetime. She still seems to think her original choice of leaving the palace is best, but with the way she is gaining allies, power, and possibly even some other interest from parties who would be far less likely to treat her the same as her ex-husband would hint at several other possibilities in the future. While we heard about what happened in her previous life in the first volume, she comes face to face with possibly the worst part of that history in this volume, leading to an unlikely savior. Now the palace may be turning on it's ear so to speak, and even more key players are moved into position, though they do not seem to be responding the way Kayena expects them to originally.

It's the second instalment of the series, and there's a lot of political manoeuvring and getting rid of spies in the castle to replace them with Kayena's own team. Other characters are catching on to the cunning differences in the princess, waking up the residents to be cautious towards her schemes, and maybe winning over a certain Duke. The art is absolutely gorgeous, and I love our main character's guts and planning. Makes you want to jump immediately into the next volume.
For the notification this was in my mailbox and I boogied. I read it waayyy to fast and now just wait for book 3 to be published 😭 It's giving me all the vibes I look for in these kind stories. Revenge, go back and live it right the second time stories just call to me. Full of so much redemption and satisfying results to the ones who caused so much pain the first time around.
If you liked Mary my Husband- this is giving the same energy. ❤️❤️
Gotta say, I loved this volume more than the first. The princess is very strategic and I enjoyed more of the blossoming romance between her and Raffy. What I feel icky inside about is how her brother seems to enjoy her company a little "too much". I can't wait for volume 3!
Absolutely delightful! The artwork is full color and stunningly beautifully detailed, the story is fascinating and full of complexities and intrigue. The main character is wonderfully devious but still has a moral code. Just thoroughly enjoying this one completely! No complaints!
Good, but the first one was more interesting for me. Almost all was palace schemes; too much for what the volume length was (for me at least) But Raphael was great, as always 💘💕🎉 3,5/5⭐
