Cardonia needs women and their leader reluctantly must set the example of joining the matchmaker program. Krogan can hack it for a year, right? Is there really a woman out there whose willing to do a match knowing there’s an expiration date involved? Cara Bristol begins another alien romance series with a familiar premise and makes it her own.

Escape Clause is a marriage of convenience and fake mates-style romance that introduces the background and characters for a new series. It reads quickly, is told from alternating perspectives, and gets right into matters.

Krogan’s people need compatible alien women after a mysterious viral attack is unleashed – purportedly accidentally by a neighboring alien nation- that left them scrambling to get their sick females into stasis tubes while hunting down an antidote. In the meantime, unattached males who want a relationship are encouraged to access the Cosmic Mates‘ matchmaking site. Krogan must lead by example though he has abandonment issues and has no plans to let a woman anywhere near his heart let alone stay long term.

Meanwhile, Hope, who is a far future Cinderella, needs out of her new earth village pronto before her version of the wicked stepmother tries to marry her off to the opposite of a prince. She doesn’t want anything permanent and has plans to come back so the Cosmic Mates with its escape clause is the perfect solution.

I enjoyed this light sci-fi romance with a few suspenseful moments and a quick, but developed romance between two people who start off on the wrong foot, but end up wanting more once they get to know each other. I look foward to seeing comes next as the series develops and has a new romance pair and that hint of intrigue over the mysterious virus.

I rec'd an eARC from the author to read in exchange for an honest review.

My full review will post at That's What I'm Talking About 7.22.24.

Love the premise but the execution felt...rushed. I was really enjoying the first half of the book, but by the time I reached the halfway point, I was losing interest in the story and their relationship. Cara's books aren't generally very long, so I wasn't feeling like it would be an issue this time around. However, I felt it really could have used more time to allow for relationship development and more complex conflict. I do think it's a fun read if you're looking for a quick escape read, maybe for a day on the beach or while you're on a plane. It has Cinderella vibes in the beginning, and the hero is completely clueless which led to some funny moments. The world has a lot of potential, and when in doubt, I can always rely on Cara for a unique read that will make me wish aliens were real.

It was cute how Krogan was so against having a mate at all, but then once he saw Hope, he instantly had to work *not* to be attracted to her! He had no idea how to be a good mate, kept making mistakes and then having to grovel about them...he was quite good at groveling, likely due to all the practice. Had the author allowed for maybe a bit more tension and angst, I think the grovel could have hit home a bit more. Hope didn't seem to be bothered by much of anything, and then once they are in bed together, they have this great connection and then...nothing. We don't really get to see them become close, have tender moments, or build the foundation of love. Instead, we're told they love each other without really being shown how they got from strangers to lovers. The last "oops" moment Krogan had just seemed silly, there to create a third act conflict but instead was resolved so quickly that I didn't really see the point.

I'll keep reading Cara Bristol for sure. The next book features two characters introduced in the first book, which is intriguing.

Part of Cara Bristol's new Cosmic Mates series, Book 1: Escape Clause, is absolutely everything I hoped for from her! I have read most of her books, and I have never been disappointed by this author. This book is no exception! The author gives me a fantastic look at what I could expect of the story in her book description, if that gorgeous cover had not enslaved me, so I will just jump into what I loved most.

First, and this is important to me, there is an actual story and plot!
feel Krogan turns out to be a big, sweet cinnamon roll. There are some tense moments. It is a novella, so I was left wanting more, so I am delighted to know more will come soon!

I loved the characters in this one. Hope has had a difficult life, but she is not tragic, at all, and never whiney! She copes because she is a survivor. She is the rare person who is truly beautiful but doesn't know it. I loved her from the beginning! And Krogan, whom I have already mentioned, definitely grew on me. Cold and dismissive, he soon learns to appreciate Hope, allowing their steamy sweet romance to blossom!

Last, the writing style from this author is superb! She does a wonderful job with the world building in Escape Clause, so I could put myself in Hope's shoes when she was trying to navigate through her new surroundings. Cara Bristol is, as always, the best storyteller!

Don't miss this book!

Outstanding!

First book in a new series doesn’t disappoint. When the women of Caradonia are affected by a mysterious virus, the remaining ones are put in stasis to await a cure. Govenor-General Krogan has made it his top priority to find a cure, but so far nothing has worked. He deeply cares for his people and came up with the Cosmic Mate program to find compatible wives for the men of his planet and to try and save their species. He has no wish to marry so didn’t apply to the project. But pressure forces him to apply to set a good example. He plans to use the escape clause written in at the end of a year.

Hope is being forced into a loveless marriage with their cruel, crooked Mayor. When she hears about the Cosmic Mate program it’s the perfect solution. She escapes but with every intention of using the escape clause at the end of the year!

What a wonderful journey these two take together to discover that perhaps fate has other plans for them! Don’t miss this one!.

Hope is a Cinderella-esque bakery worker who supports her evil stepmother until she decides to marry her off to the gross mayor for even more money. When Hope refuses he destroys every part of her life that he can so she has no choice but to marry him. She signs up for Cosmic Mates which is a marriage dating service with aliens on Caradonia who had a pandemic that killed all of their women.

I found this novella so compelling! I loved the story and concept and world building. So much was done in such a short time, even getting us attached to side characters and I’m so looking forward to the next book. Only one spicy scene but plenty of drama and suspense. The timeline seemed a little rushed, enough happened that it seemed like months but it all took place in two weeks. Great read! Super excited for the next one!.

I absolutely love this new series by Cara Bristol. It's a wonderful new wonderful, its so easy to get hooked on Cara's feel good books. The characters are so cute and have a chemistry pulling them together. Although the MMC doesn't quite get it together until the end, but the MFC is so sweet and desperate for affection she's an amazing person for one of the first Brides for the cause.
I can't wait for book 2 in this series, I'm totally hooked.

This was my first book by this author, and I enjoyed it tremendously! The world-building was solid and made for an immersive read. The MCs were a perfect fit, and the pining was delicious. There was humor as well, though dark themes were explored as well. I'd recommend the book to first-time alien romance readers, I think it's a good introduction to the genre. This seasoned alien smut reader was perfectly satisfied, too :D

Una idea interesante pero la ejecución... Meh.

Such a fun read!
I really enjoyed the two main characters, Krogan and Hope. They were both looking at this as temporary, not expecting to fall in love.
They storyline was fun and engaging. This is the first installment in a new series, but fear not, it is not a cliffhanger!

Best Laid Plans…

Watching Krogan and Hope move through an arranged marriage on his world was interesting. I liked the whole post pandemic crisis scenario set up- as it suspiciously mirrored many pieces of reality on earth 2020-23. It is funny how real life events can be so much more unbelievable than even fiction! Seeing this pair interact and realize what they see and feel for the other was quite satisfying. Even the most serious and dire circumstances have opportunities for resolution.

IT’S ONLY FOR ONE YEAR

The story is the first in the Cosmic Mates series. A nano-virus has devastated Caradonia, leaving the planet in desperate need of women—ones who are of childbearing age. A program called Cosmic Mates was created to try and attract women to leave their home planet and come to Caradonia as a mate—and human brides from Terra Nova are compatible. As an act of goodwill and confidence to the men of Caradonia, Krogan, governor-general, will be among the first group to accept a bride. Thankfully, there is an escape clause—at the end of the one-year trial period, the couple can dissolve the union.

Vorgol: We must do something different. It’s not going well.
Krogan: The antiviral isn’t working?
Vorgol: No, sorry. Not that. It’s too soon to know the results of treatment. I was referring to the Cosmic Mates program. Men are reluctant to sign up. If we don’t get the males, we won’t draw the females, and then…
Krogan: What seems to be the problem?
Vorgol: Take your pick. They’re waiting to see if the antivirals work; they’re leery of marrying aliens; they don’t find any of the species attractive; they’re afraid of diluting the gene pool. We’ve gotten very few sign-ups.
Krogan: That’s not good. How do you propose to get men to sign up for Cosmic Mates?
Vorgol: I have two recommendations. First, we must expand the program to other species. I did some research and discovered a species that will serve our needs. They’re called humans. Now, my second suggestion…
Krogan: Yes?
Vorgol: My second recommendation is that—you sign up.

Krogan is encouraged by his vice governor-general (VGG) to put his name in as a potential mate so that other men on the planet will also agree. Back on Terra Nova, Hope Bennett is living with her stepmother and now she has a dastardly plan—to force Hope into marrying Mayor Gleezer. Something Hope refuses to do—and finds herself without a job, a home, or a future. Her friend’s suggestion is to sign up for Cosmic Mates—and she does.

Prudence: You have another option—besides moving out, I mean.
Hope: Like what?
Prudence: You could try Cosmic Mates.
Hope: What’s that?
Prudence: Let me grab my tech-tab. They’re seeking human females of childbearing age to become the wives of men on—Caradonia. Why do they want humans?
Hope: Maybe because we’re the most genetically and/or biologically compatible with them. Scroll down. There are some photos. They’re blue!
Prudence: But handsome, right?
Hope: I think this is not for me. Marrying an alien won’t solve my problems.
Prudence: It would get you off Terra Nova. You wouldn’t have to worry about Gleezer the Geezer anymore. Or your wicked stepmother.

The story is mystery, suspense, in a sci-fi tale of two people neither one wanting marriage, but agreeing to a one-year union. After all, there is the escape clause to give them an out. You’ll have to read it and learn what all happens with Cosmic Mates—and trouble brewing on both Caradonia and Terra Nova.

I enjoyed the story and characters and thought the concept was intriguing. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series, Help Wanted, Wife to be released in August.

"Escape Clause" is an engaging read that blends science fiction with romance in a captivating way. The premise, involving a devastated planet and a last-ditch effort to save a civilization through arranged marriages, sets up an intriguing backdrop for the story. Krogan, the planet’s leader, is a workaholic focused on solving his world’s crises, while Hope Bennett, fleeing a dangerous situation of her own, enters into a marriage of convenience with him.

One of the standout elements of the novel is the use of cryo chambers for the women of Caradonia. This concept, where women are placed in stasis to assist those still struggling on the planet, adds a layer of hope and practical foresight to the narrative. It’s a thoughtful detail that enhances the sense of urgency and possibility for the planet's future.

The chemistry between Krogan and Hope is another highlight. Their initial agreement for a marriage in name only evolves into a heartfelt connection that’s both touching and believable. The author skillfully explores their growing affection, making their eventual romance both satisfying and genuine.

However, the ending of "Escape Clause" felt somewhat rushed and convenient. After a compelling build-up, where their feelings deepen and the stakes are high, the resolution seemed too easy. The conflict involving the pandemic and the subsequent invocation of the escape clause could have been developed further to add more depth to the conclusion. The abrupt resolution left me wishing for a more nuanced and satisfying wrap-up.

Overall, "Escape Clause" is a solid read with a lot to offer, particularly in its character development and romantic elements. The innovative use of cryo chambers adds an interesting dimension to the story, offering hope for the future of Caradonia. If you enjoy sci-fi romances with strong characters and a compelling premise, this book is worth checking out. Just be prepared for a resolution that might feel a bit too smooth given the tension that precedes it.

Cara, Cara, Cara, once again......what have you done to your readers. Giving us another book that we get so engrossed in. We lose track of time, eating, picking up the kids from school. Okay, seriously, the latter didn't happen. Just sounded a little more dramatic. This story checks all the boxes. No one can possibly say, "I liked it, but I just wish it had." Because this book has it all. Okay.....onward, so I know the book description and all the reviews tell you enough about the book. I don't do spoilers. That being said, I want to reiterate what readers are saying. This new journey that Krogen and Holly take is a ride you'll want to be on. A virus is killing the women and civilization is in peril. Men find all the other species they're offered to mate with ugly. They do not want to mate with them. They've not never mated with humans, this is a new step they're taking. But the men are still reluctant. It's up to Krogen to set an example. He must show that even his high rank will not deter him. If he does this, the men will follow his lead. He chooses Holly. She is desperate to get away from her mother. There are plans for her on Terra Nova that she'll take no part of. That is if she can find a way to escape her mother. So, when Krogen and Holly come together, they agree in a name only union. Then at the end of one year, they will utilize the Escape Clause. But, neither of them expected what that year would entail. Nor did either of them expect to see each other in a whole new light. This is an incredible excursion that we can choose to take advantage of. I'm so glad I didn't miss the bus.

this was a bland, and slightly offensive offering. Upon completion I checked when this was published, 2024???? Perhaps I would have felt kinder to it if it had been published a decade ago, but 2024 and you're giving me this heroine?
This spineless, one dimensional nothingness of a heroine?
Her name is Hope, okay, that's an annoying name but on we go. Hope is Cinderella, no, really she is, except there are no step-sisters, only an evil stepmother and a bakery that she is made to work in for the last 10 years supporting her evil step mother. Hope thinks she is plain and has no hobbies, few friends and really no interests other than baking. Stepmother tries to marry her off to the evil mayor, whose old, fat and possibly. killed his previous 2 wives.
With no option she marries Krogan, alien, blue, hardworking head of state, who wants a marriage in name only, since he doesn't do love, ever.
Within two weeks - he falls for the not plain Hope - how? why? Your guess is as good as mine. Because she's pretty maybe, because other than that she does nothing, nothing. She bakes a little and makes dinner occasionally because she likes to - but that's the extent of her... personality?

By the end - after a really annoying bout of miscommunication - they announce their love and Hope is officially Suzi homemaker now, and will bake occasionally and that's it??? Her life is fulfilled? Way to take the women's movement back 50 years.

No spine. No dreams. No ambition. Little personality - Hope was annoyingly bland and I'm supposed to believe Krogan, with all his hangups, falls for her in 2 weeks??

Nothing happens in the story - NOTHING. It is readable but it's like porridge, it will fill you up for a moment, but all you can think about is why isn't it spicier, and more decadent?

The women of Caradonia have been affected by a nano-virus that meant death to many and a dangerous and uncertain future for many more who wait in stasis pods for a cure. Governor-General Krogan is determined to find a cure for the virus and return the women to their families and lives. He has had no success so far. To fill in the lack of child-bearing age women, he creates the Cosmic Mates program. It’s not working either. His friend and second-in-charge suggests human women might be more appealing to the men, and that Krogan himself take a bride to encourage others to do so. Since the contract carries a one-year escape clause, he agrees. Hope Bennett has been used by her stepmother as servant and financial provider. The last straw comes when she arranges a marriage to the slimy mayor of their village. To avoid this undesirable situation, she applies to the Cosmic Mates program. She fully intends to use the escape clause. Krogan and Hope are chosen for each other. Their relationship gets off on the wrong foot and, for a while, doesn’t get any better. Will their marriage be a one-year marriage of convenience? This is the first book in a new series. The story is well-written and interesting. The characters are complex. Krogan and Hope don’t look for love because they have not known it. She stymies him. She is cheerful and friendly, even to the android servant in his home. Krogan is obsessed with making opportunities for others to find the success in life that he has. There is tension, drama, some humor, soul searching, and a villain bringing danger for him and Hope. There is a twist or two and some welcome surprises as the story ends. Enjoyable read.

Gleeful Goblin Review: Poor Krogan made my heart ache for him early on in this book because of how he views himself. He didn't really receive love, affection, or much care from either of his parents and so because of that he thinks he's fundamentally...broken and incapable of love. “Our men desire to marry and have a family,” Krogan said. “We’re not demanding a huge sacrifice or saddling them with an unwanted burden. We’re giving them what they want—a wife. We’re not forcing anyone to marry who doesn’t wish to.” “They are still reluctant to wed an alien they’ve never met. But, if you’re willing to do it…” “Marriage is not in my future.” If human females were anything like Caradonian women, they would expect their husbands to love them—or at least grow to love them. But he wasn’t capable of it. He knew that about himself. It wasn’t pretty, but it was honest. In thirty-six years of life, he’d never been in love. Lüst? Yes. Love, no. He cared enough to not subject a woman to an emotionless, sterile union but would never care enough for her to fall in love."

Anyone who grew up in a home where love/care/support was conditional or absent I'm sure will be able to relate to so many of the hangups that both Krogan and Hope have. In their own ways they feel like they're "not good enough" so they're willing to do things like accept marriages of convenience without the prospect of love and affection. But of course, as this is an alien romance, those plans don't quite work out! It was delightful to watch these two stubborn dorks finally make their way round to the idea that they're both worthy of love and are lucky enough to have found it. 5/5 Stars

I really enjoyed reading 'Escape Clause' by Cara Bristol. It was about a woman fleeing her planet to avoid having to marry the horrible mayor of her town. He had threatened anyone helping her or hiring her in order to get her to agree to the marriage, but her friend had shown her an ad for Cosmic Mates which arranged wives for Caradonia. Their men were without wives because of a disease that attacked Caradonian women of childbearing age, leaving the planet with only very young girls or old women. While they were trying to find a cure, they needed women and now Hope found herself one of the first of many women to respond to the ad. Hope is matched with Krogan who is the leader of Caradonia. He has always been alone and did not consider himself a candidate for love but being the leader, he sends for a wife to lend support to the program. He and Hope are both honest with each other from the beginning by agreeing that they both hope to end the marriage by the end of the year which would be the end of the trial period. They even explain their reasons to each other. They did not anticipate that they would become close after getting to know each other. Hope begins to thaw Krogan's heart, and he realizes that he cares for her, and Hope has never felt so cared for and valued. their new relationship is threatened when trouble is brewing from a political opponent looking to overthrow the government.

The other reviews tell me this might just be me but Ifound this kind of forgettable, with a plot that follows everyone other alien-race-needs-women and an MMC who is only alien in colour.

The premise was the same as a lot of alien romance, any conflict of which was almost zero wrapped itself up off screen. The alien who 'couldn't love ' changes his mind on that without any internal conflict at all. The smexy times are just regular human type there's nothing alien about it, and it's only the one time. Also they are wrapping this up in a year but they have unprotected sex with no discussion.

The didn't particularly like the MMC. He is a "I pulled myself up from the bottom so anyone else can too" type. He was poor and disadvantaged but now is the leader and has no issue with his giant skyscraper that blocks the sun from the people on the surface, they can improve themselves like he did if they want I guess.

He shows no real growth, he leaves her at home the first day with no access to money and no understanding of technology. He is still cancelling plans and ditching her up to the end.

The mayor wanted her to marry him for *reasons* and was trying to track her down but he gets arrested off page. There are rebals trying to displace the governer general but the leader is arrested off page. The heroines life is threatened but she is never shown in any danger before everyone is arrested.

Anyways this just wasn't for me. And clearly it was well liked by others so take that as a not you it's me.

Caradonia is in need of help. A nano-virus caused the loss of fertile females. Governor-General Krogan needed to find another way for this people to survive. With no one applying for the Cosmic Mating Program he had to take the next step. He had to be the first to show the possibilities of finding a mate. Hope was not about to be used as a pawn for her stepmother. She was set up to marry to slimy mayor. But Hope wasn’t going to let that happen. With the help of her friend Prudence, she takes a chance with Cosmic Mates.

We have the feel of Snow White with aliens. Her stepmother is evil and cares little about Hope. Only what she can get for her. Hope definitely was lucky to have a friend like Pru. She and other stood by her. Krogan had a lot on his plate. You have to feel for a leader who is trying to do everything when it feels like a losing battle. With Hope her learns to open his heart and feel. She anchors him and isn’t that what we all hope for, to be the anchor in a relationship. These two are strong together. There was a part in the beginning where I was not happy with Krogan. He was foolish but he learned. Hope even made a friend of not only the android of the house but of a baker in the cozi, Larth. Looking forward to his story.

A great 1st book !!!

This was a cute short story that had exciting times along with some intrigue too.
Hope is a young lady that has been in a Cinderella type of relationship with her step mother. She has worked herself almost to the bone , bringing in the only paycheck since she was younger. Now , her step mother wants to marry her off to the mean , nasty governor of their small town.
Umm Nope !!!
With little options, Hope finds herself signing up for the Cosmic Mates program.
And she gets what she wants.
Away .
Governor General Krogan is the leader of his world , that has had a horrible pandemic that has affected women of child bearing years only. The only females that the pandemic missed where the very young and the very old.
Krogan and his staff have been working night and day , but very little has been able to help . Their are some females in stasis pods, but so far , very little breakthroughs have happened.
Krogan has suggested that outside compatible females could possibly be brought in , and the Cosmic Mates was put into effect.
And what better advertisement then the leader himself applying ??
I thought that Krogan and Hope were a cute couple, neither of them wanting what they secretly desired. Not enemies to lovers , but friends to lovers certainly !! Excited for the next book !!

Human Women To The Rescue!
Governor-general Krogan is to set an example by marrying a woman from Terra Nova. But he closed off his heart to love after his mother told him she loved him and then left. A marriage of convenience that can be dissolved after one year is his solution. Too busy with his work and all the problems that his people face, he leaves little consideration for the problems a woman, fresh from another planet, sees herself confronted with. Even when he is smitten from the first moment he lays eyes on her.
Hope sees herself as a mousy, unattractive woman, fleeing a terrible situation on her home planet and finding that her choice to flee and marry a blue, cold, but very attractive alien might be even worse. Or is it?
As in real life the MCs hide behind a mask to conceal their fears and uncertainties, even the ones they’re not aware of. Circumstances force the two of them to acknowledge their growing feelings towards each other and they realize they have to fight for what they really want.
A short and thrilling story of two people caught in their own situation and finding the way to be together to acquire strength and comfort. Add a funny bot. Recommended.

Escape Clause is an engaging Sci-Fi Romance from author Cara Bristol that finds MMC Krogan, governor-general of Caradonia with two problems.
His people are infected with a nano-virus that has caused a decline in their females of child bearing age forcing him into connecting with the Cosmic Brides program for human mates.
Unfortunately his males are not signing up fast enough which puts the process in jeopardy.
Now Krogan has to set the example by signing up for a mate he really doesn’t want or have time for. BUT with the marriage not binding until after a year and both parties having to agree to making it permanent his second-in-command convinces him to take the plunge.
MFC Hope Bennett is fleeing from being forced into marriage with a much older and vile man her stepmother is forcing on her.
When her friend suggests the Cosmic Brides program as a way out Hope is all in, especially with that one year clause.
When they meet Krogan knows he is in trouble!
This story was an entertaining one with nice writing, imaginative world building, and appealing characters. I enjoyed following along as Krogan and Hope discovered that maybe that escape clause shouldn’t be invoked after all.

Governor-General Krogan (H) of Caradonia, a planet devastated by a nano-virus that decimated the female population, is desperate to save his people, and reluctantly agrees to participate in the Cosmic Mates program to bring women from other planets to marry Caradonian men, ensuring his species' survival. Terra Novan woman Hope (h) signs up for the program as a last resort to escape an unwanted marriage and finds herself matched with Krogan. Despite their initial reservations, they agree to a one-year marriage contract with an escape clause. Hope and Krogan's relationship begins awkwardly but they begin to bond with one another after a series of intimate moments and shared vulnerabilities, particularly when Krogan opens up about the emotional toll of his responsibilities and Hope provides him comfort, and things heat up between the two. But their growing relationship is threatened by political turmoil and protests, targeting Krogan’s leadership and endangering Hope, forcing Krogan to make a difficult choice. Hot and steamy alien-human romance, exploring resilience, love, and overcoming adversity.

Wonderful new series! I love this first book, Cara Bristol has really outdone herself. The characters are amazing, the plot is engaging and the romance is sweet and spicy. And shout out to Ms. Bristol on the name of the planet, Caradonia, the Queen of alien romance deserves a planet with her name in it. I loved that so much, every time I read it I giggled inside. Clever, clever. I love how passionate Krogan is about saving the women on his planet and the beginning of the book when we meet Hope has this Cinderella vibe that was so great! Her friends helping her hide from her creepy stalker until she could get on her spaceship to happiness really added a lot to the story. Don Juan was also a wonderful character, I think everyone will want one once they read this and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book in the series. Cara Bristol doesn’t ever seem to run out of great plots, characters and sizzling romances. I hope she never does. I received an ARC of this book and am happily sharing my review.

This was a very enjoyable story to read by Cara Bristol. You have the self-centered stepmother, Rose, who only thinks about improving herself financially and socially that she contracted her stepdaughter, Hope Bennett, to marry an awful man. With help of her friend Prudence, Hope takes it upon herself to escape by signing up in the Cosmic Mates. Krogan, governor-general of Caradonia is told by Vorgol he needs to set an example in the Cosmic Mates program. They set up Cosmic Mates to help their people after a nano-virus from their enemy decimated their women of breeding age, but the men are reluctant signing up. Reluctantly Krogan agrees because of the escape clause written that they have one year trial period before the marriage is finalized. This clause enticed Hope and what happens afterward was a very engaging alien romance story. The characters were well rounded and likable, the chemistry that bloomed between them simmered, and their drama was interesting to read in this copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.

Wow what a fantastic story this was of a temporary solution to a Nano Virus that affects the woman of Cardonia who are put in stasis till a cure can be found but in order for his species to survive they need females and it’s the Krogan Governor Genera’s job to convince his unmated males to to a human bride to rebuild there population but there is an escape clause that after 1yr they can go there seperate ways but Krogan must lead by example and take a bride himself but he has no need for a bride or wants one but he does to help his people and when he meets Hope who turns his world upside down as they start to fall in love. Hope Bennett mother is pushing her to marry the cruel and Crooked Mayor but when Hope see’s an add for Cosmic Mates she signs up to marry an alien and with the escape clause after 1yr she can return home to Terra Nova free and clear but when she meets her gorgeous sexy husband Krogan it changes everything. How doe it all turn out, get this book to find out.

WOW, Cara did it again!!! This new series, like all the others Cara has written is amazing. Little did they both know that they were falling in love with each other. Krogan being the governor general doesn't do love, it's all about his citizens and trying to figure an antidote to save all that are in stasis. Hope just wait day to day for Krogan to come home and have someone to actual talk to. Hope has Krogan teach her how to use the vaporator to transfer to other locations. Doing it the first time it was failure and Krogan showed her again how to use it. Hope makes a friend; Larth owns a bakery and Hope helps him so he can visit his wife in stasis. Now Stervak is after Krogan and Hope, a means to get Krogan out of his position. With everything going on Krogan needs to make sure Hope is safe and his citizens don't follow Stervak. Make sure this is a book you read and those in the series.

Really interesting story and a good beginning to this series. Krogan's planet is facing extinction after an attack using nano-virus was release by their enemies. This technology was send to kill every childbearing age woman, the few that survived the attack and were infected were put on stasis pods in the hope that eventually they found a cure. Even if they found a cure and bring all the women back from the pods, they have reached a point that it will not be enough to save their race. So Krogan decided to create a Cosmic Mates program and enlist the help of compatible races and he will enlist as a show of solidarity. Hope a human from Terra Nova, escaping a bad situation and she enroll in the program and that is how their story began. No more specifics but this is a cute story a good start to a new series also. I can't wait to read more books of this series.

A wonderful shorter fast paced story of two ppl who don't want a marriage but are pushed into one together by the hand of fate. One escaping a forced marriage and one to set an example for his ppl. Strangely they are exactly what the other person needed and feelings develop but neither has much trust that things will actually work out. In during this life continues to happen and challenges must be faced and the love eventually found nearly gets thrown away.
A great light read with light conflict, insta love.
wonderful start to a new series I really enjoyed this story. Holly has an evil stepmother who is forcing her to marry a terrible man she can't stand so to escape his clutches she answers an ad in cosmic mates for a marriage of convenience to an alien who's race is dying. Krogan is the governor of the alien world where the women were killed or sickened by a virus and they need human woman to produce children. But alot of the men don't want to sign up for fear of scorn by their friends so Krogan feels he must step forward for a wife despite not wanting one as an example to the other men. This arrangement suits holly just fine she only wants away for a while and the one year escape clause will mean she can get out of this marriage and go home at the end of the time.
Krogan is happy to know at the end of the year the escape clause will let him out of this unwanted arrangement.
however, fate is funny and has plans of her own for these two. Slowly Krogan comes to realize being married isn't so bad and he looks forward to going home after work. Holly realizes that krogan is kind and strong and treats her well and maybe things are looking up and slowly they both start to develop feelings for the other. but some aren't so happy with human women coming to their world and they try to sabotage things to divide aliens and humans. krogan has to keep the human women esp his wife safe from threat so feels he must take steps that holly doesn't understand or agree with. will he sacrifice the love he has finally come to know for his planet or will fate find a way for them to stay together while neutralizing the threat to all? come read the series and find out.
great world building and description of whats happening and why along with some interesting rich characters that bring the story to life.
some great supporting characters as well and love the android who seems to develop a hint of his own personality along the way.
