Sane people fear fire and the destruction that tends to follow. I, however, never claimed to be such a person. After all, fires destroy everything, leaving nothing behind, and when I saw no other way to escape my fate, it was fire that provided me with one.

Now, four hundred miles from the only place I’ve ever known. I have a new name, a new home, and my shop. A whole new life. Things seem to be going great. That is, until him. He came into my life out of nowhere, burning and melting my walls like a blazing inferno of chaos and destruction. The only problem is that I like it. I don’t know what I crave more. The kiss of the burning flames against my skin or the rough hands of the psychopath who lit the match.

But what I do know, is that no matter what happens, its him I want to burn with.

I'm a bit confused - when I seen the reviews of this one, I thought I was in for another treat. I was wrong. So wrong.

Before I write anymore, please note - It's not often I'll leave a poor review, I'd rather just not review the book - just because I don't like it doesn't mean someone else won't love it! Don't yuk someone's yum and all that.
But.. BUT, this story had so much potential but the plot holes were beyond ridiculous.

1st, the two main character are big serious pyromaniacs but they don't start many fires! Maybe two on page at the start and one at the end.
But that's ok. I can forgive that....

BUT - One these big fires was an old historic building and it's a big big fire with loads of media coverage so you can imagine how thorough the police had to be with their investigation!
Lennox goes the next day for a nosey because this isn't his work...."Next to it, a large stone, a few empty bottles of cheap beer and cigarette butts." Guess who they belonged to - yes, Stevie! But it's ok because the police didn't notice them 😒

ALSO...
He tied her to a post with her wrists and ankles tied behind her. And put her horizontal over a fire. Then covered her in honey. Anyone fancy a gammon for dinner?! No? Just me! Anyway, covered her in honey and hung her over a fire with her wrists and ankles tied behind her. Then shagged her. Now how he managed this is beyond me. Think about this, please....she's on a pole - with her wrists and ankles tied behind her - over a fire - covered in honey - and he's able to eat her out (did I forget that part, oh yes, he can lie down and lick and finger bang her!) - and then shag her! How are her shoulders not dislocated?? How is he not on fire?? How did he actually manage to shag her with a pole in the way? How is she not sizzling?? How is her hair not gone? How??

But here's the best one - at the end of the book, Lennox goes to save Stevie at this an old B&B - OLD. Lennox has set a fire in the basement - a super hot fire that will spread quickly because he used moonshine that is so potent and paint thinners. The flooring above him, that Stevie and Jensen (her abductor) are standing on is an old sub floor - OLD! It's so old that the dust is literally falling through it and Stevie could even see the fire through the boards. So this is definitely a flimsy crappy floor.
So yes, all that fire and then Lennox comes up, he rolls around the floor with Jenson fighting for a bit while the curtains catch fire - although the floor is still there and still ok. A beam on the ceiling catches fire - remember the fire was started in the basement - and collapses - it's ok, the floor is still intact.
This has been going on for a while so the smoke is bound to be black by now, remember it's all old wood, yet they still manage to fit in a conversation and a quick shag to show Jensen how much she loves taking his cock - even though he's not worthy 🤷🏻‍♀️
Then, THEN, he slaps her ass and they just dander out??...

So when I said at the start of this about he book having ridiculous plotholes, I wasn't talking out of my ass!

Anyway, I could write a whole new book for this but I'm past it now.
I think with some honest help then she could have a good book but until then it's a no from me.
One star. And only because there has to be a star to rate it.

BUT this is only my opinion, others seem to love it so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also, is it just me or does this sound murdery "I could be having my guts rearranged right now"... Apparently she's talking about getting shagged!

I ARC’ed both books in the duet.

So let me start by saying that I loved the first book in the BB duet. It was a 5 star read for me, but the second book fell a little flat for me.

Now this is personal preference but I thought the MC’s had no depth and I could not relate to either of them, why the MMC felt drawn to the FMC? Because she was a pyro too? 🤷🏻‍♀️I don’t get it.

I also felt the plot lacked variety and was a little predictable. The only thing could say that I liked was that the smut scenes they were well done.

Overall the book was not for me. Sorry😔

This book is seriously SO good. This book features Stevie & Lennox and is set in the French Quarter in New Orleans.

Stevie is on the run from the life she left behind 4 years ago. I won't get into I too much but I feel SO bad for her. She owns a lovely shop, has an amazing employee and loves to set fires! I love a strong FMC and Stevie definitely fits that description to a T.

Lennox we meet in book one of this duet. He has a sad childhood when his parents died in a fire. This is where his obsession comes from.

These two are feisty together. They both taunt each other by sending messages within the fire. When they get together they set off another flame.

Thank you, Melissa McSherry, for this ARC.

This book had so much content for so few pages, seriously, now I need more. How did they not finish off the Sweet Dreams scheme??? I’m outraged.

Now, talking about how I felt reading this book—I really liked it. It was a great read; I devoured the book. I found the author's writing fluid and the story very interesting. However, it was too short, and I think there was so much more to tell and develop. I loved the dynamic between the couple; they had a lot of chemistry and strong personalities. Honestly, I think this shouldn’t have been a duology but a series. It would have been more engaging, and I feel like the Sweet Dreams plot could have been a bigger part of the overall story. In general, I liked the duology, but I have to emphasize that both books had TOO much content for so few pages. Both couples had so much more to explore.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Burning Quarter by Melissa McSherry (@pagemastermama) is the second book in the Bourbon Boys duet and it is already released.

Dedication:
For the girls who always strayed a little too close to the fire’s flame, I hope you like the Burn.

Tropes:
🔥 Pyrophilla
🔥 Rival Pyros
🔥 Fling
🔥 Fire Play/Edge Play
🔥 Secrets
🔥 Branding/Burning
🔥 Pleasure Dom
🔥 Banter

Before you start reading this story read the trigger warnings, because your mental health always comes first.

Melissa tells the story of Lennox and Stevie, both pyros at heart. Stevie, living on her own, tries to avoid the spotlight after escaping a traumatizing past. But that changes when Lennox quite literally burns his way into her life. Their relationship crackles with hot sparks, filled with banter and Stevie’s sharp wit. However, as the sparks fly between them, the dark shadows of Stevie’s past resurface, putting her in danger once more.
The heat in this story is intense, so be sure to dive in well-prepared!

Quotes:
"No," he growls, "Don't you fuçking say it.
Don't you fuçking praise him when it's me who's bringing you pleasure. Me fuçking giving your body everything it craves," He thrusts grow more relentless, "It's my fuçking name you'll scream, lil spark. Only fuçking mine. Now give it to me. Cųm on my fuçking diçk,"

I lift her dress up, exposing her perfectly round a$$, and pull her panties to the side.
Pulling my çoçk out, I spit on my hand, and spread it around the hardened length as the
people around the bar watch.

Fiery, gripping, unhinged and toxic.
I loved Stevie's resilience and sass, she had a take no nonsense attitude and really pushes Lennox to the limit with their back and forth games and banter.
Lennox has met his match, she plays with fire, she's bold, she's mysterious and she's hard to get.
Their chemistry is dark, deadly and toxic, everything will burn around them as they push each other towards danger, and live for their obsession with fire.
With their arson games putting her in the spotlight, Stevie's past trauma is about to catch up to her, and she won't see it coming.
Great action and suspense, twisted spicy encounters, and unexpected destruction.

Highly recommend both books in this duet.

🔥 "You thought you could come here, to my town, my home, and do what I do without being seen? Think again. I see everything, lil spark, and now, you'll see me too"

🔥"A guy as pretty as you isn't built for a love like mine"

🔥"She makes me want to work for it, to earn her, and goddamn, it's refreshing"

🔥"If I say you're mine, Stevie, then you're mine. Keep pushing, and I'll make damn sure you and everyone else knows who you belong to"

🔥"Lil spark, your touch is like fire along my skin"
"Then burn for me Lennox. Let me be the fuel to your raging inferno"

🔥"Because you're my lil spark, Stevie. And I'll be damned if I let anyone out you out"

"If being with you means watching the world burn, I'll pour the gas and f*ck you while the flames devour everything in their path."

So let’s talk about "Stevie & Lennox", in a book where fire meets romance and things get hot—literally. We’ve got Stevie, a girl with a thing for fire (and by “thing,” I mean a borderline obsession) and secrets so dark that it will need the sun to shine to make them visible, and Lennox, a bartender/pyromanic who, naturally, falls for the one person who just like him can’t resist playing with fire. Welcome to the world of pyromania and insta-love, where everything happens way too fast, but hey, who’s got time for slow burns?

I adored steive and her resilience also all the knowledge i got about the apothocary was simply fascinating and i really want to delve deep in this new world and learn things so thank you for that "burning quarter".

Lennox was the perfect ott possessive and unhinged mmc so we shoudn't be surprised i fell for him. His need to protect stevie and make her see their future together was stronger than a herd of elephants istg like that man was DETERMINED. he followed through with his promises and they will find their hea.

you will also see glimpses of Allora, Greyson and Yara so yipieeee for that hehehe they are all precious babies and their family with lennox was putting my obsession for found family in overdrivee

Tropes

I'm coming for you lil spark, even if I have to burn the city to the ground to find you."

Love the fascination with fire that both Stevie and Lennox have (while I'm not into arson, I'd be lying if I said I also didn't love fire just a little bit lol). Their chemistry and dark and toxic, but I loved it! Stevie is such a strong FMC and definitely a baddie! I love how protective Lennox is and his pyromaniac ways! Quick and easy read that I finished within a day! Also that bar scene 🥵🥵

What a difference between the first book in the Bourbon Brothers Duet, Bloody Quarter by Brooklyn Cross, and this one. I gave Bloody Quarter 5 glorious stars. I had high hopes that if Ms Cross would co-write a series with an author, that the author would be good, and was really looking forward to this book. That, however, was not the case.

I am not saying that Lennox and Stevie's story didn't have promise, it absolutely did. However, by 62% there had been so many grammar errors that I was totally frustrated. Words being left out of a sentence (to, my, he), i and I used in the same sentence, ending a sentence with a comma, misspelled words -- "hopign" instead of hoping? Come on.

I have made comments about grammar errors in the past, and I have had authors give me grief about it, saying that it shouldn't matter, that they didn't have control, that it wasn't a big deal. But here's the deal, it is a big deal to a lot of readers, me included. It's a reflection on the author's disregard of their reader's time and money, when a couple of rounds of spell check and a few ARC readers would have solved the problem.

But the final straw was a blantant misstep in the plot. Lennox brands over the brand on Stevie's hip in one chapter, in the next chapter he takes her home, he fights off an intruder and mysteriously she shows him the brand like he's never seen it as an explanation as to what happened to her as a child.......Yes, I went back and reread it several times to make sure I had it right.

So 1 star....next time think about the people who will buy and read your book.

Fast paced, toxic, unhinged, dirty, SPICY, fiery, twisted encounters, dark what more could a gal want? Please check the trigger warnings, your mental health matters🫶🏻

I was soo excited to read book 2 after reading the first book (Bloody Quarter by Brooklyn Cross of the bourbon boys duet ) and it did not disappoint. Loved that we finally got to see more of Lennox and his story. Both books work wonderfully together, but each have differences to not blend together. They can be read as standalone but I highly recommend you read Bloody Quarter first!

The spark between Stevie and Lennox is intense and as hot as fire (get it since it’s her coping mechanism🤭). The characters development was soo freaking good omg. I loved getting the snippets of their life threw flashback memories. Makes me love the characters even more when an author adds that. Makes me understand the entire depth of that character, what makes them who they are.

The smutty scenes were delightful 🤤 but I may never be able to look at Honey the same way now 🤣

I’m obsessed with Melissa’s writing. She truly knows how to created the most delicious unhinged characters, and find a way to make me connect and love them.

- “okay, lil spark. You like the play with fire. Let’s see how well you handle the heat”

I received an ARC but all thoughts are my own.

I think this was my first book with a pair of pyromaniacs and I'm here for it! I loved that the FMC was just as unhinged as the MMC. It was a nice contrast to the first book in this duet, Bloody Quarter. The two books work really well together but are different enough to stand alone and bring their own vibes.

Stevie (FMC) has a very dark past that she's on the run from. Our MMC Lennox lost his parents in a fire and that triggered his need to control it. My heart broke for Stevie and everything she had been through as a child. I hate that she was in fear of losing a life that she now actually enjoyed because of some abusive (and that's putting it lightly) assholes from her past. Lennox had no problem burning down her walls and taking what he wanted. But he still respected her and the games she liked to play with him. Seriously, I love how she was always pushing his buttons. I thought it was hilarious.

Don't be fooled though, this is a very toxic love story with fire, murder, and a dash of stalking. Be sure to check the Trigger Warnings! I found this one to be a little darker than the other book in this duet.

Although this book wasn't as gory, dark, or depraved as the first book in the duet, it absolutely did not disappoint.
But don't get me wrong, there are still some disturbing topics that some readers may find disturbing, so as always, please check your trigger warnings.

With that being said, toxicity has never looked as good as it does on Stevie and Lennox 🖤

This fiery couple had me mesmerized for a solid 6 hours. I literally could not put this book down.

I was so excited to see this book would be about Lennox because I definitely knew there was more to him than what we saw in book 1, and boy, was I right !! Everyone loves a good pyro, especially when they know what they are doing, and a dash of obsession never huet anybody, right? Then you hit me with Stevie as well with all her sass and IDGAF attitude..who you guessed it is also a pyro whose love for the flame matches Lennoxs

I knew the Quarter was in for it the moment these two met, but when the added drama from Stevies past rears its ugly head, things get real.

Added bonus was seeing Greyson & Alora in the book and their dynamic with Lennox, and I really loved that.

Ok who doesn't love a pyromaniac? Ahhhh this book was so good! I was hooked from the beginning. I could not get enough of how much Stevie, the MFC, was such a kick ass girl. Stevie is strong and resilient after being through a terrible life and of course we love the feisty MFCs. She is smart, a small business owner, and she has more than one dark secret. Ok let's talk about Lorrean, cause phew that man was spicy!!! Lorrean is the other half of the Bourbon Boys and he is out to find the spark to his flame who has wreaked havoc on his city. Lorrean and Stevie have a connection that goes beyond love, it's dark and toxic and full of angst. I loved the back and forth games they play with each other but when it really mattered Lorrean was definitely Stevie's twin flame. The spice was spicy in this one, lots of amazing scenes between these two! Over all the book was a total page turner and I finished it in less than 24 hours!

Loved the fiery chemistry between “Lennox” and “Stevie”🔥❤️‍🔥
FMC “Stevie” has a very traumatic and rough childhood, one of her coping mechanisms is fire. She is running from her dark past and opens an apothecary in New Orleans and is trying to lead a somewhat normal life.

She meets MMC “Lennox” who also has a rough childhood and is also a pyromaniac. (A match made in heaven lol 😂)
Lennox soon becomes obsessed with the fiery Red Head Stevie his ( lil spark) and does anything to be with her. ❤️‍🔥

The storyline was good , it was a little slow in the beginning but it did pick up towards the middle.
Loved how the relationship between Lennox and Stevie progressed and how he would do anything for her , even burn the world down!
The spice was so good 🔥❤️‍🔥 I will never look at “honey 🍯” the same way again though lol 😂
Overall … I really enjoyed reading this book! And I would recommend checking out the “Bourbon Boys Duet” ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Sooo.. I accidentally missed reading the first book in this duet (Bloody Quarter), but to be honest you can most definitely read them in any order! There are some spoilers from the first one, so if you’re worried about that, or you like your books to be spoiler free, I’d recommend reading Bloody Quarter first.

That being said, this is a fantastic stand alone and you don’t necessarily need to read the first. I really loved the plot and pyromania is not something I’d read before but the HEAT on this 🥵 is definitely worth a read.

The relationship between Stevie and Lennox is brilliant and I loved the characters, quirks and witchiness included. The smut in this doesn’t detract from the story so if you’re someone who loves a plot with a smattering of smut, this is definitely for you.

Both characters have a great backstory but please be aware there are some serious TW in it though before reading.

Burning Quarter by Melissa McSherry is a dark romance novel. I always enjoy and LOVE reading Melissa McSherry‘s books. This novel is magnificent! You could tell she really took the time to develop the characters so readers felt like knew them. The plot was intricate and well thought out. I also enjoyed the world building. I felt like I could picture things in my head. When I picked up this book to read before bed I did not expect that I would not get sleep because I just had to know what happened next.

Lennox, MMC, is our unhinged, pyromaniac and lucky for him rich boy. Stevie, FMC, is our on the run from something pyromaniac. When Lennox sees her he knows he must have her and they will fit together perfectly. Again remember she has big secrets and is on the run. Both have had to deal with things in the past but especially Stevie. This book will take you through loads of emotions from smiling and giggling to tears. The chemistry was fire.

Before starting this book please check the warning list. This is a dark book and your peace of mind matters. Anyone who loves the morally black, unhinged, pyromaniac (or even just the unhinged) I recommend this book. This novel will definitely grab your attention and will not take let go until you finish every word of it.

Stevie and Lennox, the beautiful characters of this book.

♡ touch her and die
♡ Fire play
♡ Edging

Stevie is girl with obsession for fire and she carries secrets as dark as hell that even sun will not be able to brighten it up.

Lennox a bartender who instantly falls in love with her. He is unhinged MMC (and we are down for red flags only if they are fictional)

This book is fast paced, toxic, dirty, and I love it 😀

The way they characters were written and explained with depth and loved it how the flashes of the past was integrated in the scenes. It was amazing.

OBSESSING STILL over Stevie and Lennox because they were going toe to toe, tit for tat and I was living my best life literally😩

It was so exciting to learn about Lennox when we met him in book one, and he was instantly intriguing to me. The fire messages back and forth between them was my favorite part, and I loved how neither of them backed down. Lennox was so quick to stake him claim over who’s territory it was to burn, and then over Stevie herself. Their chemistry was so freaking GOOD, I wanted to be a fly on the wall🫠

Stevie is running from something that she thinks she has to fight all by herself, but Lennox simply ✨won’t✨ let her lol. She’s been through so much and wants to not making any connections, but I cackled at how Lennox bulldozed his way into her life. The way they gradually got used to each other’s company mad my heart so happy🥹

When he had her over the fire pit?? Also THE BAR SCENE, I was a puddle on the gdamn floor🫠🫠

✨I received an arc for an honest review. These opinions are my own✨

This story was a quick read for me that I had a hard time putting down. I absolutely love when both the FMC and MMC are both unhinged and stubborn. Their chemistry was insane and I absolutely loved it. The push and pull between them was incredible.

The plot was gripping and kept me steadily turning the pages because I needed to know what was going to happen. There wasn’t a time where I caught myself skimming or skipping.

I also loved the descriptions of the French Quarter and of the characters and their surroundings. The imagery was done beautifully.

“He’s my anchor in this blazing inferno of blood and chaos.”

I burned through this book so fast (haha see what I did there). Having read some small snippets of Lennox in book 1 of this duet, I was ready for this story. He had that no f’s given attitude and could not believe there was another pyro in his territory and Stevie was the perfect FMC for this story as well and I absolutely loved how feisty she was. They had such great banter and I loved all Stevie’s quips as well as their fire messages back and forth to one another. There was such great backstory with Stevie being on the run and I like where it lead to but I felt there could have been more action/twists but I still loved it! Such a great wrap-up to the duet but I definitely would read more of these characters along with those from book 1!

Hold on tight. You're in for one hell of a ride.

I absolutely devoured this book. It was absolutely fantastic.

Lennox and Stevie were fantastic. Their banter was absolutely spot on, especially the tit for tat they had. It was highly comical, and i was living every moment.
Stevie was running and hiding from her past, and Lennox came along determined to save her from it all.

The writing was very detailed and visual, making it very easy to forget the world around me and get lost within the pages.

Book 1 of the Bourbon Boys Duet kept me at the edge of my seat from beginning to end, and I was eager to jump right into Melissa McSherry’s “Burning Quarter” next as it was the second book in the duet. Like the first book, I was one hundred percent in it. The author immediately drew me in with Lennox and Stevie. I truly loved both of these characters. As unhinged as they were, their story was as wild as their relationship—one fueled by the other. And it all made sense. The gritty action scenes were detailed, as were the spice scenes. “Burning Quarter” may have been a wild ride, but I loved the darkness of it all.

"If being with you means watching the world burn, I'll pour the gas and f*ck you while the flames devour everything in their path.

This book was hot 🔥
Lennox and his little spark. I loved them and their story. It's set in the French Quarter in New Orleans.
He is a bar owner and she owns a herb/witchy shop. They both have childhood trauma's and find each other in a special way. There's plot, there's action, there's spice. I won't spoil it, go read it for yourself.

Be sure to read the TW's, it's a bit dark.

I wish it was longer, but still amazing

I really enjoyed this story and the characters within it. My only complaint is that there was definitely a lot of meat left on the bone, here. I think it could have been even better with another 100 pages or so, but it was still great as is. Stevie, our FMC is a total bamf with a checkered past and our MMC is a possessive Pyro who loves to play games. It is fast paced, so if you like a book that is quick and to the point while still getting all the important stuff in there, you'll love it.

What is it about a pyro that's just so alluring? And now add on one more and you've got yourself a recipe for some sweet sweet heat. So many times I found myself gasping and sitting here like " no fucking way that just happened". The hood fire, the declaration of love and I'm going to show you who you belong to while covered in honey, the bar scene staking his claim. 10 damn stars. Melissa writes it, I'm reading it. Point blank period.

So happy Lennox got the spotlight from the 1st one! Really enjoyed it! Lennox and Stevies love is so beautifully toxic tjat it works!
The only negative for me is it felt like the ending was rushed a bit, I wanna know more!
Thanks so much to the authors for this ebook arc! I loved the Bourbon Boys duet ❤️
