He was her brother's best friend, hiding his true identity for years. But when it comes to keeping her safe, he knows it's only a matter of time until she discovers the truth—that he's a werewolf.
Janet (Nettie) Robinson has always struggled to fit in, unlike her older brother, Liam, and his best friend, Emmett. Even now, as an adult, her social life primarily consists of caring for dogs at a local animal shelter. But when Emmett comes home after three years for Liam's wedding, the attraction between Nettie and her brother's best friend is undeniable, as well as the secret he carries. It's only when Nettie's life is in danger that Emmett must reveal his true identity as a werewolf, opening her to a world of fantasy and love.
If your second guess if you want to read it. Read it! This book was so good! From brother turning into a vamp. To brothers best friend becoming her mate and having a pup! This was so good and best part is it ended beautifully. No cliffhangers! But it leaves you wanting to read more. The scenes are hot! And the storyline keeps you on your toes. I loved it and will read it again and again!
DNF. Love the premise. The execution was horrible. The descriptions were just awful and pulled me out of the story. She “looked at him with demise”?!?! What?
I’m sorry but this was torture. It started out cute, but it moved too quickly. It went from her brother’s wedding & seeing her childhood crush…flying to another city to follow him & see if he’s with another girl…getting kidnapped & almost trafficked…seeing your crush morph into a werewolf…watch him kill the trafficker in front of you…then becoming intimate with the werewolf all before 100 pages in…bye.

I'm all for being in touch with your emotions but come on. Someone was crying every other page. I'm positive there was not a single person that didn't have a tear run down their cheek.
DNF at 18%. It just felt so fucking juvenile. I know the characters are like 18 and 21, but there are a lot of books with good plot and dynamic characters who are young adults. This did not do a good job with characters in that age range. It’s just felt like a stereotype written by a 15-year-old.
However, if you are craving some crappy classic Wattpad then this will likely scratch that itch.
The nicest thing I can say is that I didn’t hate it enough to finish it out of spite and give a real rating.

I loved this book from the very beginning! I’ve been in a reading slump for a little over a month now, and I remembered a friend suggesting this book. I picked it up a little after 10pm last night and had it finished a bit after 5am this morning with a couple breaks in between.
Putting it down for later? FORGET THAT! I immediately needed to know what was going to happen for everyone. Emmett and Nettie, oh my gosh, had my heart from the start. Liam, perfect brother material. Their trio is a favorite of mine officially. The bonds they all developed with each other, even from childhood, was amazing.
The book had me smiling, laughing, I got royally angry at someone, but I’ll let you guys figure who out yourself. I’m looking forward to the next book and CAN’T wait.
If you love found family, protective mmc, touch her and die vibes from a mmc, you will love it. The fmc is so caring and understanding, what I love even more, is that she finds herself and how she belongs.
I don't normally rate a book this low and continue to read it. The overarching plot kept me hooked - so I kept some hope that it would right itself, I was wrong. There are just too many area's that this book needed refining.
- Based on the title I though this would be a more lighthearted romance - it had some heavier themes as part of its overall plot.
- Timeline moved too fast. It felt extremely unrealistic that all these events were happening within this timeframe. which leads to the next point.
- Character development - characters had some great bases to build off - but they were not able to grow within this short timespan of the books plot points timeline. It was just too unrealistic.
- Biology and character descriptions could use some work.
I can get more nit picky with specifics but I don't want to spoil the books for others. I would reread this book if the author too another stab at writing it. Like I said the overall plot was good, just needed better execution.
I liked the trope; brothers best friend, the spice and the general idea for this book, however it just wasn't executed very well.
Some parts of the story seemed unnecessary to include. It was as though these parts were unfinished, they seemed significant at the time but then never came up again and seemed forgotten about.
I particularly didn't like how Nettie was the main character at the beginning but towards the middle her POV wasn't as regular. With, I think, 4 different POV being Nettie, Emmet, Liam and Lia it got quite confusing sometimes and seemed rushed to get everyone's story involved. I also found it very cringe and icky sometimes 🙈
It's always a pleasure to read one of Courtney's works. No matter the story, you can always count on Courtney bringing her characters to life with engaging dialogue and expressive emotions. When Nettie finds out the boy she admires is the leader of a werewolf pack, things get interesting. If that isn't enough, her brother is a vampire! There is plenty of subject matter to dive into if you like monsters mixed in with your romance. So grab a bottle of wine, lock the door, and enjoy this reading adventure!
0.5 stars. There are 5 POVs in this book, all from the "I" perspective. If I happened to put the book down mid-chapter, I had to restart the chapter to remember who the narrator was.
There are fantasy elements in this book (e.g., werewolves, vampires) and there are fantastical elements in this book (e.g., 2 months for an entire pregnancy that ends in 1 push). I can handle fantasy, but fantastical, not so much.

2.5 stars. I was really bored. The book kept switching POV characters, making it hard to connect with the MCs. The fact that the shifters can talk in wolf form is weird and confusing. The fact that there are 2 love stories in one book means not enough page time got dedicated to either, so the love wasn’t really believable.
i contemplating DNF at 28% and then again at 53% and then i was like okay i might as well finish. but forced myself to finish. i get it. wolves and vampires but i was lost reading in the beginning. things happened so quickly and i felt like i was missing parts constantly going back to see wait did i not read an entire page?!?

A really good spicy paranormal werewolf romance Emmett is Nettie’s brother’s best friend & she has been besotted with him for years. Having not seen him for 3 years, he returns for her brother’s wedding & sparks fly but Emmett has a big secret 🤫 This was a quick & easy read & I loved Emmett & Nettie & their new found family.
I really liked this one. I liked how more modern it is. (When/if you read it, you'll understand). Even though there were a few times that made me shake my head. It made me laugh so many times. I love the humor! The story moves a long quite nicely. In fact, this one held me captivated, and I read it rather quickly. So thank you for that! Can't wait to read the next one!
The book started off great and then quickly turned sour. Brother's best friend's all of a sudden likes the sister, after not seeing each other for 3 years. No build up, just bam! Have sex and then start saying I love you right away. Then gets pregnant. At the same time the brother gets turned into a vampire. Too much is happening and a lot of it made me cringe. DNF after half the book

Nettie and Emmett. Lia and Liam. Are you KIDDING me!? How much more perfect could it get? Nettie is all of us if our hot crush turned into a werewolf, right!? And Liam!? I was so happy when all of his turmoil happened that Lia showed up right on cue. So good!
This book was terrible. The grammar sucked. The plot was chaotic at best and not in a good way. The timeline happened in like two months, but there was no actual progression of time or being told how long it had been since the start of the book. This made it very confusing as a reader. If i could give this book less than 1 star i would. I would not recommend.
I finished this book in one day! I loved the beginning it was so cute how Emmett would be over protective of Nettie. This is a really fast paced read which I enjoyed cause I have been reading series so it was nice to get a fast HEA. Also enjoyed the spice!
This read like a terrible wattpad story. The plot was too busy and everywhere. Too much happened and there was barely any detail. The dialogue was terrible. The descriptions and the sex scenes were god awful. But somehow I finished the whole thing 🤦🏼♀️
My first DNF for the year. Changes in tone and irregular character behaviors left me confused. She hasn't seen him in 3 years and now she says she loves him? He just mated with her but leaves to see his dad?
Such a cute journey. I love the brother's best friend trope. Courtney captured the banter and tension perfectly. I loved the build up. Trying to swoon and leave spoilers out. Great read.
This was a great Paranormal Romance! Mates, exciting plot, Spice, dramatic scenes, multiple character story lines. It was really good and a fast read!!!
