A sociopath and a doctor. A love story bound to end in flames. Veronica Rollins wants out of Black Lake Asylum, and her new doctor, Leo Madden, might be the key to setting her free. She just needs to gain his trust. She needs to make him fall in love with her.
The Wicked Duet is a romantic tragedy. Please see the Authors note on the inside.
This book was bloody brilliant! My first read set in an asylum. Veronica, is insane certifiably. She's committed for murder and always drives her doctors away. She wants to escape the asylum. Dr Leo Madden becomes her new doctor and she quickly formulates a plan to make him fall in love with her. The spice quickly happens and happens at nearly every session they have together. It's seems that maybe these two do actually love each other, but Veronica is a sociopath, so how can she love another person? Veronica is violent and does not give a shit but Leo still falls for her HARD. This was an impressive book and was so damn good. Veronica is bat shit crazy, and I loved it. And that ending??? Omg @hannahjoauthor I cannot wait to read the next one. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Her Wicked Plan by Hannah Jo is a forbidden romance set in an insane asylum. WOW this book was so good! The plot and the characters were so interesting. I could not stop reading. That ending was f***ed up and I am here for it. So excited to see what book 2 will entail. This book follows psychiatrist, Dr. Leo Madden, as he begins his new job working as a doctor at the Black Lake Asylum. He is hired to work with one very violent and tough patient, Veronica Rollins. This story is a forbidden romance about a doctor and his patient.
Veronica is bat sh*t crazy and I absolutely loved it! She was such a fun character to read about. I also loved Leo. This book was spicy and the plot was also super entertaining. I was hooked from the beginning. I was not expecting that much of dominance from Leo during the spice scenes. That was a pleasant surprise ;) Veronica and Leo’s forbidden romance kept me on my toes. I was stressed they were going to get caught multiple times. This book was fast paced and sooo f***ed up but in a great way. HANNAH JO THAT ENDING!!!!!!! I need to know what happens next immediately. Veronica was such a fun character and I really enjoyed her level of crazy. I liked that this was dual POV! I highly recommend this book.
Thank you @hannahjo for the ARC of this book. I truly enjoyed reading this forbidden romance and I am excited to see what it to come in book 2!!!
Originally I went into this book with a very eh mindset, and here I am two days later needing more. I have completely fell in love with the main characters and only hope that their story continues. If a death of a parent is triggering I don’t recommend this then, those couple of chapters ripped my heart out.
I have a lot of feelings I need to process because....damn.
BOOK REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Because Dr. Madden,” my voice turns seductive, my eyes trained on his as I continue. “I want to know if I should feel guilty for the things my body feels when you look at me like that.”
So... I'm not okay. This book had my emotions all over the damn place. One minute I'm 🥵 and then I'm 😭. I don't want to have to wait for the next book, I want it like yesterday!! I was super lucky to be able to read an ARC copy of this and will be on the lookout for other @hannahjoauthor books in the future.
Veronica is insane, certifiably. Dr. Leo Madden is her new psychiatrist. She wants out of the asylum, and she sees her ticket out through him, and so her plan begins. This forbidden romance is spicy. The two lovers connect quickly and pretty damn often!
Things start to seem as if maybe there really is hope for our unlikely couple. They both are definitely behaving like people in love, but can a psychopath actually love? Is this real, or is someone being manipulated?
So grab yourself a copy, sit down (just not in HER chair), and dive right in!
i was drawn to the idea of this book ever since i read the blurb. her having aspd and him being her doctor? how cool is that???
i liked parts of this book, other parts not so much. there was a lot of unnecessary stuff added in for no reason. i didn’t like the mmc at first lol i REALLY liked the smut tho. the mmc literally TRANSFORMED when a smut scene started and i absolutely loved it 😮💨🤤 he got better after a while, personality wise.
i really liked the fmc. i feel like her character in a mafia setting would’ve been phenomenal. i’m telling ya, this girl is in the wrong subgenre lol
there were a few inconsistencies and the lack of contractions drove me crazy 😪 but overall it was an enjoyable read. the end was brutal and i’m very curious to see what happens in book 2.

A forbidden romance follows psychiatrist, Dr. Leo Madden and his patient Veronica Rollins. Set in an eerie place called Black Lake Asylum. This book had me in a chokehold from the very beginning! The plot, the characters, and the storytelling! Hannah Jo you did such an amazing job with this book!
The FMC Veronica is unhinged and violent and Dr. Madden is the only one who seems to know how to control and calm her. And when I say control I mean he turns into quite the dominant. Which was a hot, hot surprise! 😜 Let’s just say their sessions contained a lot more than talking. 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ I continued to stay at the edge of my seat throughout the book because of the stress of them potentially getting caught! Too many close calls to count! 😅 I really felt like I was an insane asylum patient right along with Veronica, the diary entries, her plan it all was fascinating and a thrill to watch it unfold! Veronica has just the right amount of crazy, and Leo had just the right amount of dominance and bleeding heart.
Hannah Jo you absolutely killed me with that cliffhanger at the end! What am I going to do now!? What happens next!? I cannot wait for the next book! I recommend this book without hesitation! Read if you like forbidden romance, dual POV, doctor/patient relationship, and just the right amount of spice!
This was a suspenseful and lust filled page turner! Duel POV with our stab happy leading lady, Veronica, and swoon worthy Dr. Madden. Get ready to fall for Leo Maddens cool, calm, professional exterior- only to uncover his hidden dominant side. I could barely put this book down. Her Wicked Plan is the perfect combination of steamy, unhinged, and nerve wracking.
And the ending? You just HAVE to find out for yourself!
What can I say about this book. Hannah Jo knocked it out of the park. She did such an amazing job of writing this story and these characters. Dr. Leo Madden. The man we grow to love. The Dr. with a heart of gold always wanting to see the good in others…even if it puts his job in jeopardy. But he also has a wicked dark dominant side that is addictive! Then wild and crazy Veronica. Is she capable of real love? Can she really care for Leo the way he does for her? Or will it all shatter in the end? The heat between Leo and Veronica was addictive. The way they come together when it risks everything it full of lust and need and I could not get enough! I cannot wait for the next installment to see what happens after Veronica turns on our lovely Leo. Will he get his revenge or be left alone?

“Arc “ Review ~Her Wicked Plan~ is a forbidden romance set in fictional Black Lake Asylum. 🏚️🌲 The story revolves around “Veronica Rollins” a sociopath and convicted unaliver who is sentenced to serve her time in an insane asylum. And “Dr. Leo Madden“ a psychiatrist , who is assigned to her case. Veronica becomes obsessed with Leo and they enter into a forbidden unethical relationship. This book definitely takes you on a wild ride of such different emotions. It does start off slow but the story does get more interesting and the spice is very very steamy 🥵 There’s also some deep topics, so check those triggers! Also loved Veronica’s diary entries before certain chapters and I wish the author included more of them. That ending … omg 😳 was so messed up and I’m curious to see what happens to these characters. Overall, I did enjoy reading this book ( it could have been a tad shorter) but I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good forbidden, spicy, suspenseful, dark and twisted romance . 🖤🖤🖤🖤 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
“I debate on how I want to answer this. Yes, Veronica is beautiful, but in a haunting way. You’d only see her type of beauty in your nightmares if you were lucky enough to have that ounce of light in the darkness.~Leo”
“The edge? I don’t remember climbing the mountain of my craziness and stopping at the edge.~Veronica “
This was my first read by Hannah Jo and woah! First and foremost, chapter 48 completely ripped out my heart and stomped on it.
I went through so many different emotions reading this book from shock to intrigue to anger to sadness. What an emotional rollercoaster! Hannah did a great job creating a complex story with complex characters. Veronica is certifiable and snarky. Dr. Madden is... naive. Their chemistry is amazing, and I love some of the lines from both throughout this book. I loved the setting for this book, the manipulation, and how drawn in you become to the characters. I'm a huge fan of thriller/murder/crime/mystery and while this is a dark romance, it hit so many elements from the others that I had a hard time peeling myself away from it.
Prepare yourself because it is a very long read but I cannot wait for the next book! The ending chapters were shocking and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
Oh what a twist!! I did not expect that ending!! This is such a wicked book!!! Like no joke! There is twist, there is emotion, there's so much in this book it's hard to explain. Like I did not expect half of that stuff to happen in the book. I had an idea but not all of that in a bag of chips! But man that ending! I feel really bad. All for that and that's how it ends. If you want to read a book about asylums patients, falling in love, and then a big huge twist. Read this book! This is the first time I read from this author and I'm not going to lie it's actually really good I was hoping there would be a next book to what happens next but I doubt there is. Cuz that ending was perfect.
The backdrop of this story being an asylum made for such a dark atmosphere. Leo is at a new job with a new patient that he can’t get out of his head.
Veronica is the definition of unhinged, and I loved every second of it. I found her character very relatable so I don’t know what that says about me. Considering she’s a patient in an asylum. The connection between her and Leo was out of this world. No matter what she says, her feelings for him were real and raw. Leo’s attitude switched whenever he was alone with Vee, almost like he could be his true self.
That ending was fantastic, it broke my heart but I loved it. Scarlett was so annoying, I think she deserved worse.
Her Wicked Plan By Hannah Jo Book to be released June 22, 2024
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
My fave quotes:
“I want to know if I should feel guilty for the things my body feels when you look at me like that”
“I’d show him that my mouth isn’t only useful for making smart remarks”
Her wicked plan is Hannah Jo’s second book she’s written. This forbidden romance takes place in an insane asylum. Veronica pled insanity after killing her sisters boyfriend where she is sent to Blake lake asylum. Throughout the years there she has scared off every doctor that is until she meets Dr Madden. Veronica quickly comes up with a plan that she hopes will help her escape to have her doctor fall in love with her. Leo quickly becomes infatuated with Veronica and a forbidden romance takes place between Doctor and patient. I could not stop reading this book once I started and I am shook by the ending still trying to process it all. I absolutely loved Veronica as the main character with her darkness, wittiness and overall character development. I also very much loved Leo and bawled with the part about his mother. This book is was spicy, dark, lots of smut and the plot had you hanging on until the end. I constantly thought Leo and Veronica would be caught. I enjoyed Hannah Jo’s writing style immensely and loved the journal entries throughout breaking up the chapters from Veronica. Hannah Jo you are a genius and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I need to know what happens next! I cannot wait for the second book! I highly recommended this book!
Read if you like 💋Forbidden Romance 💋Doctor/patient 💋Insane Asylum 💋Dual POV 💋Smut
I swear Miss Jo just knows how to write unhinged characters and I absolutely admire that about her.
I thought her first book was amazing, but this is by far my absolute favorite. An unhinged patient receives a new doctor against her wishes, but just one look from the devishly handsome psychiatrist puts her wicked plan into place. The ending was not what I expected which was my reaction in the last book I've read by Hannah Jo.
ARC REVIEW: Holy shit where do I begin?!? This book kept me on my toes the entire time. The amount of tension throughout this book was insane! I’ve also never hated a side character as much as I do one of them in this book (they’re an absolute bitch). The doctor/patient forbidden romance has now become one of my favorites to read because of the tension. Not gonna lie sometimes the tension is better than the actual spice for me! I 10000% recommend this book!
ARC Review: 😵💫🥵🫠🤩 This book had me in an absolute chokehold from page 1. The way this book was written made me feel like I was actually there watching things with my own eyes. Gosh, the steam had my hands sweating and the plot had my stomach in knots. The depth of the family aspect, the steam, relationships… So good!!!!!
THIS BOOK. I mean the synopsis alone is enough to have you intrigued but I had no idea what to expect. I ate this mf book up. Forced proximity, mental health rep, super spicyyyyyy. I can’t recommend this book enough. Hannah Jo you’re an evil genius! Forehead kiss for you!
This was a fast paced and spicy read. The story took a lot of different turns and twists and the main plot twist happens at the last 95% of the book. I’ll be picking up the next one cuz it did leave off on a mild cliffy lol
Her wicked plan, indeed! When I saw an opportunity to sign up for this book, I did not hesitate. I am so thankful to have received an advanced copy of this book!
Forbidden romance in an asylum. I was sold with the keywords!
It has been a while since I read a book with an unhinged FMC, and I was not disappointed. Veronica Rollins is not one to be messed especially with her chair, and hallelujer Hannah Jo was able to bring this character out tenfold!!
I was drawn in, and it was hard to put this story down! I highly recommend it to my fellow dark romance readers. The release date is June 22, 2024! You will not be disappointed. Le spice was giving. And that ending!
A sociopath in an insane asylum and her doctor? Count me in😈🖤
This book is just perfection. The synopsis of the book alone had me insanely intrigued and then reading it?? Obsessed. It had me in an absolute chokehold from the second I started reading it all the way to the end.
Absolutely looooove Veronica and Leo even though they are messy. Veronica's character was so unhinged and i loved her comments, definitely a top ten FMC for me now.
THAT ENDING THOUGH!? HANNAH. I'm going to need book two asap rocky.
ARC Review: OH MY GOD. First off, I have never cried so much reading about a side character like idk if it just hit home or whether the writing was just so good that I bounded deeply with the character even though they didn’t appear much in the book. Next, let me just say the tension. 🫢 It was absolutely insane. Like yes, she is a psychopath, sociopath, whatever label you wanna give her and yes he is her doctor HOWEVER who am I to be the one to stand in the way of love? The dynamic between the two is so perfect with her being “bad” and him being “good” and honestly by the end they were a mix of both. I also need a sequel!! Like what happens next??? (Outside of the epilogue obviously)
The book was good! The spice was hot. But I found Leo to be stupid and easily manipulated, and I think he belonged in the asylum too. Throughout the book, I found myself rooting for Veronica, solely to spite Leo. And while the story unfolded, I expected a plot twist that didn’t come in the way that I expected.
Overall, solid story line. My hatred for Leo’s character is what brought the rating down.
Veronica has plead guilty…to being insane. That’s what has landed her in the Black Lake Asylum in 2008, after murdering her sister’s boyfriend. She has zero remorse, she would absolutely do it again, and she acknowledges that perhaps she might be a tiny bit insane after all…but at least she’s self aware.
Two years after her sentencing, a sinfully handsome psychiatrist, Dr. Leo Madden, takes over Veronica’s case. While she’s not particularly happy to lose her current doctor, Leo fits into Veronica’s hidden plans of escape in a very convenient way.
Dr. Leo Madden has always had good fortune with women, especially in his college days. However, and much to his best friend’s chagrin, lately he has spent too much time focusing on his career. When he gets a job opportunity he cannot turn down, he finds himself magnetically attracted to the one woman he should never get involved with…his patient.
📚A Deeper Read📚
This novel deals in fatal flaws. Leo’s fatal flaw is his fleeting attraction to woman and his inability to commit to anyone other his work. He has idealized his parent’s relationship as well as his relationship with his mother. He chooses to pursue Veronica, in part, due to the forbidden nature of their relationship. Their relationship is and will never be a “normal” public relationship. There’s no pressure to fully commit to her because he could never be caught with her. Thus protecting this idealized bond. It’s one part fatal attraction to each other and one part forbidden romance and the excitement, yet safety, which comes with that level of unattached relationship.
Similarly, Veronica has family issues which contribute to her mental health. She was the black sheep in a highly successful family. She acted out where she could to get any reaction, good or bad (mostly bad) from her family. Although her family treated her terribly, her sister, Stephanie, was the only one to show her any sort of kindness or version of affection. This leads to Veronica become fiercely protective and loyal to her sister.
Similarly, this book explores the psychological divergence when a person (Leo) is raised by a loving family versus when a person is raised by a cold, distant, and distinctly unloving family.
✨Critiques✨
It’s taking too long to progress. We get it. Veronica has a plan to seduce Leo and Leo is horny for every woman under 30. They both have issues. We understand. Nothing really happens until about 140 pages in.
It picks up after 140 pages, but it does feel long winded throughout.
✨Elements I Loved✨
The spice is excellent. It’s dark, but not the darkest I’ve read. It’s well written and it serves a purpose. The spice actually furthers the plot, which is refreshing because I’ve read books in the past where the author simply places spicy scenes into their book just to have it there without any meaning.
That ending!!!
👩🏻My Recommendation👩🏻
I’ll be honest, this book dragged. The parts that didn’t, were so good. But for me, it could have been cut down 100-150 pages less. I understand the want and need to build a backstory and an ambience. I feel confident that had it been cut down in some places, the story’s integrity would not have been compromised. The reader would have picked up on the relationships and psychological nuances just as well without dragging through all of the slow parts which didn’t add to anything in the end.
That being said, I enjoyed this book immensely when there was action. The spice was well written, the psychological aspects were interwoven beautifully. The characters were layered and complex. The writing was very good. There was a small surprise reveal and a twist ending that I was genuinely not expecting (that doesn’t happen often). I just think this, unfortunately, suffered from not enough editing. But I look forward to reading the next book in the series after that ending!
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a spicy, forbidden romance novel with a psychological twist. Just be prepared to wade through some slow parts to get to the good parts.

How can one fall in love with a monster? How can a person of light fall for the darkness? Love is a tricky in those ways. Sometimes, it hits you hard, while other times, it sneaks up on you and slams right into your heart. That's how it was with Veronica.
----- I recommend this to smut readers, dark romance readers and those who don't mind a cliffhanger ending.
Cotent warning (not a complete list): explicit s3x, strong language, character with cancer, murd3r (mentioned and on page), v1olence, stabb1ngs, blood, mention of self harm, and mention of @busive relationships.
-----
Her Wicked Plan was a wild ride. It's a story of passion and romance occuring within an asylum between a sociopath patient and her doctor.
I liked the main characters. Veronica was an intriguing character. She's clever, dangerous and unpredictable. Amusing at times. I found Leo to be an interesting character. He's a kind man who cares for his family and his patients. He tried to resist Vee, but Leo didn't stand a chance. I enjoyed their relationship dynamic.
A good portion of this book has s3x scenes, so it's a spicy book. Some scenes will be k!nky. Leo was a dominant and rough lover. (With some dirty talk I enjoyed.) While spicy, this book has plot. This is a long book, over 500 pages. I feel the length could have been cut shorter. Although I enjoyed reading about Leo and Vee's life at Black Lake Asylum and learning more about Leo's family life.
This book made my jaw drop. I'm surprised it ended the way it did. I was left wanting more as I processed all the emotions I felt.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I'm grateful and thrilled for the opportunity I had ARC read this book.
Thank you so much to Hannah Jo for an advanced copy of this book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Rounded Up! 🌶️🌶️🌶️
✨Tropes✨ Dark Forbidden Romance Dual POV Betrayal Doctor/Patient Attempted Unaliving
Veronica has been admitted into Black Lake Asylum following the (justified, in her eyes) murder of her sister's boyfriend. Her time there has been rocky at best, and no doctor has seemed to get through to her. Then Dr. Leo Madden arrives. Leo, young and attractive as he is, instantly catches the attention of the women in the ward, but only Veronica gets him as her doctor.
Veronica sees Leo as her ticket out of the asylum. If only she could make him fall in love with her. But is it really as simple as that? And can a psychopath have the capacity to return his feelings?
“You can have me” “No, I can’t. Not in the way that I want.” I shake my head. Why am I admitting this to her? Why the hell am I feeling this way about her?
Leo is a little horn dog and immediately fights his attraction to Veronica. However, it doesn’t hold long and the two of them find themselves in a forbidden entanglement. What kind of future would the two of them have in an asylum? Or outside of it?
“You’re the devil in disguise…But when you’re with me, you change. You act differently with me, and you listen like an angel. You obey me as if I were your God. “I don’t believe in God.” “And yet, here I am”
For those who are fans of thrillers and romances, Hannah Jo has done a wonderful job of combining the two genres. The banter will make you laugh, the characters will make you cry, and the end of the book will leave you totally shocked.
*I rarely say this, but check your triggers on this one. Not so much for the spice content, but other themes of death, dying, neglect, etc.
Her Wicked Plan by Hannah Jo is presented as a forbidden romance set in the Black Lake Asylum, where we meet the main characters, Veronica and Leo. Veronica is a patient, while Leo is her psychiatrist.
Someone call a doctor... for me, because after finishing this book, I need time to recover. Pros: -The text contains numerous spicy scenes for fans of the genre. -I really appreciated that, for the first time (at least for me), a woman held the power in a dark romance. Typically, these stories feature a handsome, dark, powerful man in control of the relationship. In this case, however, it is Veronica who is in charge the entire time. -Another aspect I really liked is the portrayal of 'female rage'. The fact that this is a female asylum where women have serious mental illnesses also allows for the depiction of real monsters in some relationships: abusive men who repeatedly appear in their stories, almost like a pattern.
Downside: -The book could benefit from a bit more editing.
From the very beginning, the book reminded me of Asylum by Patrick McGrath. The dynamics are similar, with a patient attempting to escape the asylum with the help of another person. However, in this case, there is a gender swap: it is a woman who is confined, and a man who assists her. Even the ending can be considered quite similar.
"Screaming, crying, perfect storm" are perfect words to describe the last part of the book, but I will not spoil much. I will just say that I can't wait for the second book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you @hannahjo for the ARC, I cant wait for the second one. Her wicked plan is available for preorder now and will be released on June 22nd, 2024. ✨ Tropes ✨ #dualpov #asylum #doctorpatient #forbiddenromance #darkromance #plotting #possessive
This story is about a forbidden romance that happens in a mental hospital called Blake Lake Asylum. Veronica ended up there after pretending to be insane following a tragic event. She's known for scaring away every doctor until Dr. Madden arrives. Veronica decides to manipulate him into helping her escape by making him fall in love with her. As their relationship grows, they fall into a forbidden romance between doctor and patient.
Once I started reading, I couldn't stop, and the ending left me shocked. Veronica, with her complexity, humor, and growth, really drew me in. Leo's story about his mother also touched me deeply.
The book mixes darkness, humor, and steamy scenes, keeping me hooked until the end. I was always worried that Leo and Veronica would get caught. Hannah Jo's writing style kept me interested, especially Veronica's journal entries that gave insight into her thoughts.
"Her Wicked Plan" had me hooked. I couldn't stop reading, even if it meant losing sleep—no regrets! I give this book five stars and it's spicy too. Leo's control during their intimate moments will leave you breathless. The relationship between the handsome doctor and his unpredictable patient is captivating. The way the author tells the story makes you feel like you're right there with them. And the ending (no spoilers) shows the author's creativity.
There were moments that surprised me and others that made me tear up. I let "Her Wicked Plan" break my heart, melt me, and captivate me over and over again.
