La Compagna Reclamata (Dalla serie La Redenzione Vol. 1)

Rate this book

This is what I wrote on June 24 at 99% in:

"I'll write a good review for this tomorrow.

Notes:
- cliffhanger
- how did I not read ANY spoilers and still know how the main plot points from chapter 1???
- Remarried Empress vibes with the OW
- lots of loose ends
- wish it was more dual POV
- 🚩age gap- FMC is 17, MMC is ??? but he says he had no business lusting after her when she was young💀
- writing wasn't bland, but the story was lacking"

what is absolutely hilarious is, I have NO CLUE what I was talking about. When I wrote this I didn't remember but now I recall it all, literally because of the Remarried Empress comment otherwise I wouldn't be able to sit here and tell you the heroine goes through abuse and bashing from shitty family and community members and the book does a cop out and makes it into "look! Some evil jealous witch is the reason why this happened! ohmagawd the evil witch did it" bro where is the DEPTH.

That being said, these novels are also really formulaic and I am TIRED. The writing wasn't bad. I remember that enough. It's the lacking story with half-hearted twist that wasn't even a twist because OBVIOUSLY the OW is the villain. Since I'm already comparing this to Remarried Empress , at least the OW has more mystery towards her and you kinda feel bad in a disgusted way OR you really, really, are invested in her downfall. What I'm saying is, you feel A LOT and you feel STRONGLY for the characters. This novel unfortunately didn't inspire that.

That being said, the book isn't awful. It's a shifter romance. You want to read a shifter romance? You want to read about a rejected mate? This is that. It's just the generic blend. You get what's on the tin.

1 & 2 good 3 terrible

These books are not linked. It is a collection of three very different stories in one volume. I enjoyed the first two stories. The third read like a completely different author wrote it. The world portrayed was bizarre and the language was stilted. The editing sub par. There really was no storyline to enjoy, just "nobody loves me" angst. So, I recommend that you go ahead with one and two. These are true to the genre and provide easy entertaining reads. Just skip 3.

Ends in a cliffhanger! Even though in the description it states "The Alpha's Reclaimed Mate is a standalone book in Mate's Redemption Series. It's a full-length romance packed with heart and heat! !
No cheating or cliffhangers and a satisfying happily ever after." (0 stars)

This whole series desperately needs an editor

Let’s start with my comments on the series first . . . The compilation of these books makes no sense whatsoever. Usually a series is multiple books around the same overarching storyline and cast of characters; OR it’s a grouping of standalone books that are related by a general theme (e.g., rejected mates, secret babies, etc.) this series is both and it’s in no way a cohesive series. As of this writing, Amazon lists 5 books in this series, but Goodreads doesn’t even have the series combined, just separate books floating out there. Books 1 and 5 are standalone and somewhat related as they are both rejected mate stories. These 2 books are completely unrelated to books 2, 3, and 4 - which are related with a plot that carries across all 3 books with common characters appearing in all 3 books. These middle 3 books must be read in order and IMO can’t standalone.

Now for this book, I wanted to like it, I really did, but I couldn’t. There’s just too many loose ends. It did have promise, and there were a few times where I could really feel the FMC, Aria’s, utter brokenness. Which is why I gave this 2 rather 1 star. While I liked the emotional aspect, there was a bit too much of it. Usually when I dislike a FMC it’s because she mistakes bitchiness for strength. Here, it’s the opposite. She’s an absolute doormat. Rather than screaming “you’re such as bitch” (which is what I usually do) I found myself screaming “stand up for yourself!” There were so many times I wanted to slap her and tell her to pack her bags and LEAVE.

While Aria and Lucas finally get their HEA, there were still some threads left undone. Apparently there was a curse that appeared at the same time as our antagonist, Mara. There was no explanation around how she was able to hoodwink a seemingly strong alpha and the pack as a whole. We are left to assume black magic was afoot, but it was a missed opportunity to add more dimension to the story. Mara’s motivation for her actions were never really explained beyond her brief comment near the end that she just wanted what was rightfully hers. Wut? What happened that made you think that? What was your plan for vengeance, and how were you going to get it? Why were you and Oswald (FMC’s first mate who rejected her) so hell bent on breaking Aria? Once she ran away, why not just live your life? Why spend so much time and energy to track down someone you supposedly hate?

Let’s just leave this with the fact that this book wasn’t very satisfying.

lost opportunities

Interesting characters and world, but when you get to the end it falls flat.

There was a lot in this book left unexplored. There are fated mates, but it’s never expanded upon or explained what makes them fated mates. If anything, the more I read, the more it felt like fated mate was just a buzz word. Maybe I missed something, but it felt more like chosen mate.

Next point is that there were many threads laid down, but almost none were picked back up. Okay, maybe in the next book some of these things would be brought back up for these characters? Then I realize the next book is about completely different characters, which feels like a slap in the face. The ending literally leaves off with a character talking to the main characters going: “oh I got bad news, there’s a new problem.” Then it ends. I don’t know about you, but that sure seems like a cliffhanger to me.

Most of the book was just flat out about the protagonist being emotionally abused and gaslit. Not a lot went into raising her back up, which is another reason why I felt the book was going to have a sequel.

Overall, it had a lot of potential, and I was very excited to read it. Only to be let down at the end at how unfinished all it felt. Would not recommend.

The Alpha's Reclaimed Mate
Mate's Redemption Series

By: Jennifer Eve

A bit of Aria in us all! I love her story!

Overall: 5 of 5 stars Performance: 5 of 5 stars Story: 5 of 5 stars

In the days leading up to her binding ceremony to Alpha Pack Leader Oswald, Aria knows something is very, very wrong, she can “feel” it. But nothing can prepare her for the fight she faces when nefarious forces work to see her fail! From the very beginning I was captivated by “The Alpha’s Reclaimed Mate”. The plot is jam packed with shifters, battles, betrayals, action, twists, romance and alliances made and broken. While listening, I experienced every emotion one could feel! I was elated for Aria one moment and positively enraged the next! I felt joy, I felt fear and I felt sorrow as I traveled with Aria on her beautifully, emotionally narrated journey. I identified with Aria more times than I could count. I can’t go into plot details, that would be playing spoiler, but as you listen, see if you don’t see a bit of Aria in yourself too!

There are three books!…

Book 1 has a demented witch who is power hungry and puts a spell on the pack’s Alpha. He then rejects our heroine and abuses her horribly.

For the record, rouge is that red stuff for your cheeks. Rogue is the correct spelling in the werewolf context. The author should have easily caught this. If an editing service was used this author deserves her money back. Sorry but this is a basic error that should have been corrected.

Book 2 has a pack that is slaughtered with only a single girl as a survivor. The reason for it was very weak and I didn’t really get it. Ancient packs have no new members so they start annexing small packs, then for some unknown reason they start destroying them? This made no sense.

Book 3 has a girl who appears to be wolfless. The H comes to fight and he beats the current champion. The girl believes he is her mate and then the current pack’s Alpha wants her to follow the guy and kill him.

The first book was interesting. The other two didn’t do much for me.

KU read.

The Alpha's Reclaimed Mate: Rejected Mate Enemies To Lovers Paranormal Werewolf Shifter Romance, is my first read by Author Jennifer Eve and it was a delight.

Jennifer starts this novel truly build your investment in the FML and what she is going through. I truly felt a wide range of emotion and empathy for Aira and loves her investment in the pack. I also enjoyed the development and contrast of Luke compared to Oswald and the difference in them.

I did struggle with some plot holes or parts feeling like they jumped and I was lost for a second but overall adored this story and recommended it.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Growing Bond

More to come as it ends on a small cliffhanger. Aria is a strong willed and hardheaded Alpha female. Lucas is strict yet compassionate as an Alpha male. They chose each other after all the many obstacles that have begun, and their bond is getting stronger. I can’t wait to read more.

Incomplete?!!

The Book just ends. No conclusion lots of questions unanswered. Oswald just deteriorates and Mara runs off. No reason as to why Mara cursed Oswald or why she even did. Her and Lucas will most likely have a good ending??? Not sure. Dax came by at the end Gor help with a pack and they sent help. The end. Super weird

Whilst I liked all 6 of the main characters (2 per book) I felt cheated with the sudden end to each story. Despite enjoying each of the 3 stories they were all spoilt by abysmal editing. Too many missing letters leaving you struggling to work out words & to understand what you were reading. Very repetitive with descriptive words too. So I can only offer a 3 star rating. Shame.

The Alpha's reclaimed mate is one of those books that's difficult, if not impossible, to put down until it's finished.

Aria's story is a rollercoaster of emotions.

Aria is the Alpha's mate from her pack, and for 4 years she's been training to become the Alpha Female. Despite all her hard work and achievements, no one, including her family and mate, treats her with dignity.
When her mate rejects her on the day of the bonding ceremony, Aria's descent into hell begins...

I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil this story, which really deserves to be read.
The author succeeds in making us feel Aria's emotions, and tackles the theme of depression with accuracy.

OK

I was half way through the book when I couldn't take the fmc's obtuseness so skipped to the near end hoping for at least a little relief only to find that downhill has a way of repeating. So yes to those who wonder, missed the moaning in the middle.

Enjoyed the first 2 books but came so close to DNF the 3rd book. Almost no plot in the 3rd book just continuous attacks on the main characters. Awful editing on the 3rd book as well.
