She’s a high class call girl. He’s taking over his father’s business.

Seven years ago, they fell in love in Paris.

They walked away at the end of the summer, never imagining they’d meet again.

Now he’s her client.

We fell in love the way you jump from a cliff. Hard and fast with a reckless sense of abandon. The six weeks we spent together changed my life, but at seventeen, I was naive. I was a dreamer. A believer.

Now I’m twenty-four and cynical. I don’t believe in love. There’s no place for such emotions as a high class escort. The only things I’m allowed to feel are physical – and that’s why it’s so damn hard when the client of a last minute job turns out to be the man I left in France seven years ago. When he buys me for six weeks at triple my rate, my agent makes it clear I have no choice but to take the job despite our previous relationship. And my heart makes it very clear I have to stay firmly on top of the cliff this time.

Because for six weeks, I once again belong to Aaron Stone.

Title: late Call (Call #1)
Series: Yes
Author: Emma Hart
Release Date: 28th April, 2014
Rating: 3 stars
Cliffhanger:. Yes

What do you get when you mix a high class call girl who is unapologetic, upfront and feisty? Mia Lopez, that's who. Well, her persona at least, her real name is Dayton Black. Told from a single point of view her dialogue was somewhat reminiscent of Drew from the Tangled series she's honest, sometimes crude with a lot of sass.

She does her job and she does it well, that is until one night when she gets a chance late call that changes everything. Unbeknownst to her, her latest client happens to be her first and only love Aaron Stone. He unknowingly hires her as his escort for the evening to keep his parents and prying vultures at bay for a work event.

when you walked into the hotel and sat in front of me, I remembered everything. Looking at you catapulted my into the past again, and when you left a few hours later, I couldn't let you go... I couldn't just go on this trip and leave you there."

So he decides to hire her for six weeks as he travels for company business.

Aaron still sees the girl he fell in love with seven years ago and automatically reconnects with the woman she has become.

"I"ll pay for you to accompany me to dinners and functions and all the fancy shit. I'm not paying you for your body because you'll give that to me freely"

Dayton struggles to separate the two versions of herself, the charade she has kept up for so long so well starts to crumble - she tries to battle the love she felt for him all those years ago by concentrating on keeping up appearances and convincing herself he's just another client and this is just another job.

They start to rekindle their chemistry and the back and forth banter - filled with sexual tension that can't help but boil over.

Without giving too much away, the story ends on a cliff hanger. Like most a totally unexpected twist to the story.

So why 3 stars?

If I'm honest it's more to do with me and my enjoyment of the story. I couldn't relate with the way the Dayton would need to be a call girl, she wasn't forced into it it was a conscious and willing decision. It's far easier to swallow (ahem) as a reader if you feel she had no choice, rather than along the lines of Girl Power. For her then to get upset when Aaron in my eyes, makes a fair comment was contradictory... Or maybe I'm being too judgy.

THE BASICS

TITLE: Late Call.
AUTHOR: Emma Hart
GENRE: Erotica, Fiction
SERIES: Book 1.
CLIFFHANGER:
HEA:

WHAT I LOVED

The plot premise. (Emphasis on premise). When Emma Hart announced Late Call I was stoked for the book because it sounded incredible - escort being hired by an ex-lover. I was preparing myself for a female dominated story different to the many stereotypical alpha erotica novels. Unfortunately, that's not what I got.

WHAT I LIKED

The sex scenes were steamy and I enjoyed reading them. Aaron and Dayton did have a lot of chemistry, I can't fault the way those parts were written.

WHAT I DISLIKED

Emma Hart's books always contain dialogue that is exaggerated and too saccharine. A beautiful killer line is all well and good, but this author goes overkill in this book, cramming in as many lines as possible. The sweetness gets sickening after a while to the point where I just rolled my eyes every time Aaron would say something that has clearly been thought out simply to provide teaser material. One or two stellar lines always impresses me more than as many as the author can churn out.

WHAT I HATED

Dayton. Everything about Dayton, I despised. As previously mentioned I had high hopes for her to be a kick ass heroine but she turned out to be whiny, hypocritical and bitchy in the worst way. Something that stands out to me is when she was critical of other women she came into contact with, labelling them the Rich Bitch Wives Club. It felt wrong coming from someone who has sex for a living and is apparently very rich from it. Her back story didn't feel thought out enough. Her character development, like the book, felt rushed.
Also previously mentioned, the plot let me down. This had potential to be a stand out novel different from anything else, but it really disappointed me by turning out to be another novel in which a seemingly strong female is overshadowed by an alpha male. At the end of the book I felt like it was brilliant plot idea poorly executed and thus wasted. Even with the cliffhanger - - I won't be reading the second book.

You know when you have been with an author from the start? Read their very first books, pimped the hell out of them and then forged an amazing friendship with them? You see how much time and effort they put into their books, how much their writing has gone from strength to strength and how much they appreciate everyone’s help in making that book/series popular?

Well I can honestly say that from all the books I’ve read by Emma Hart (Including two that aren’t released yet ;)) I have to say that Late Call is most definitely a favourite and one that needs to be on my bookshelf. Leaving behind the NA genre and delving into the Adult world, it was only a matter of time before Emma showed us her true calling. (Not saying NA isn’t her calling either, because I LOVE The Memories series and The Game series) but there is just something about Late Call that shows Emma’s style off. From the sexual prowess of Aaron to the sultry sexiness from Dayton.

You would be forgiven for thinking this book was just about sex. No. It’s not. There is so much depth, so much confliction in both characters, especially with Dayton, whom you will feel for, due to the torment she is going through with Aaron. Six years is a long time and to just feel all the emotions you had felt back then, all rush forward will knock you for six. But deep down you know you have to treat him like a client, not like the boy you fell deeply in love with all those years ago. To pretend is so much harder than it seems and Dayton, no matter how hard she tries to keep away, so cant help falling back in love with Aaron, especially when Aaron will use every chance he gets to remind her of their love affair six years ago and THAT is why he buys her time. Six whole weeks to make her remember Paris, the love they had for each other and that she is his and no man will ever love her like he does.

This is a second chance at love story, a love between a call girl and a business man looking to take over his father’s company. But its also about first loves and how they never go away no matter how long time has passed.

Dayton was content with her life. She became a call girl to get through college and after decided she was too good and the pay was amazing so it became her career. She earns a hell of a lot to just give it all up. One night she has to step in to escort and who should she face but her first love Aaron. After that night, Aaron buys her time at triple her rate and she is stuck with him for 6 weeks, getting over the world. Has time passed or is there a chance to rekindle their affair when they were teenagers? I really loved Dayton. She was spunky, sarcastic and independent. She knew her mind, knew what she wanted and how to get it. She was great at her career and its no wonder she was the highest paid call girl on the books.

But underneath all that she is still a woman, a woman with feelings and a woman who was left heartbroken when she left Paris. She had her heart torn out and worked so hard to get over Aaon that old feelings rush back and she has no choice but to push they to the back of her mind, to try and treat him like every other client and not get involved – Call girls don’t fall in love – but no matter how much she tries to push him away, he comes back and in the end her defences drop, leaving her vulnerable to Aaron and she accepts that fact she will always love him, but dude! Shit has gone down and I was in a state of shock much like Dayton. I wanted to cuddle her, take away the pain she was feelings and I watched her defences go back up. I hope everything works out in Final Call and she beats the shit into Aaron.

Now let’s go onto Aaron. I’m not the biggest fan of reading about how the girl falls for the CEO and all that jazz but Emma has made me fall in love with Aaron. He works for his father and will be taking over the business. At first site of Dayton, he cant believe the love of his life is standing in front of him, no less a call girl. He wants to catch up, wants to know everything about her again so when he buys her time, he knows she has no choice but to go where he goes and he kind of loves that – he’s a demanding guy and wont take no for an answer and she is pretending to be his girlfriend after all. He sees this as a chance to show her he still loves her, show her that no one has and will match up to her. Every chance he sets out to show her how great their summer in Paris was and how he still remembers the little things about her, things that shouldn’t matter but they do.

Aaron is just a breath of fresh air; he’s hard working, a guy who wants Dayton to himself and will do whatever he can to get her love back. He knows his way around her body, knows what to say to turn her off, piss her off and leave her hanging. He wants to make her happy, wants to be by her side and he’s fun. No matter how rich or alpha he is, he can let loose and enjoy himself with Dayton, enjoy the smallest luxuries and he’s a romantic too. The things he does, especially in Paris will make your heart soar. The city they fell in love, where they relive the summer they spent together will also be the downfall, the city where love turns to hatred and I hated that for both of them. Hated that Paris turned into a bad memory.

And you will want to smack the ever living shit out of him for that secret he was harbouring. Thank god I get to read Final Call and see how Dayton and Aaron’s relationship progresses. Silly, silly Aaron.

But I still love him. You can see the pain tearing him up. The torment over the secret that has now come out and how he wont let Dayton go. He will fight until his dying day to get her back. Now he had her, he will never let her go. And I hope to god he makes the right decision.

Emma has added a slice of sexiness. Okay, scrap that, the sex scenes and the dirty talking will make you fan yourself. Turn you in goo and wish you were the one Aaron was throwing around and seducing with those freaking orgasm-inducing words and moves. Not only do you feel the connect between Dayton and Aaron, you know for a fact they are most definitely compatible in bed and outside of it. They know what to say and do to turn each other on and leave the other hanging and gagging for one another. I loved how Aaron and Dayton could feel each other, searched each other out and how they were just made for each other and as fate would have it, found one another again.

But my god! I shouted at Emma for the cliffhanger she leaves you with. I didn't see it coming at all. No little hints, nothing and it hit me right between the eye so much so I was in complete shock over what I had just read. Just wait until you read Final Call ;)

I have no idea why I keep downloading this kind of books.

Strike 1: name dropping, lingerie in this case.
Strike 2: instead of trying to wow her or seduce her, guy hires girl for six weeks (she is a call girl). Then I got distracted trying to estimate how much money that is.
Strike 3: I don't ask people things, Dayton. I tell them. You included.

And then I read this in other reviews:

I mean, I was able to finish it, so I guess it deserves more than one star. And I would like to see how it ends so I'll probably hate-read/skim the sequel.

This is kind of like the romantic erotica version of Itchy and Scratchy: They fight, they fuck, they fight and fight and fuck, fight fight fight, fuck fuck fuck, The Dayton and Aaron Shooooowww! That's the entire plot right there. Seriously.

What always bothers me about these rich alpha guy characters is that the things they say and do are textbook red flags for abuse. It's creepy, not sexy! There's a scene where Aaron doesn't even want to allow Dayton to get herself off, because that's his job. He gets irrationally jealous and physically aggressive when other men look at her. He knows so much about her that it occasionally borders on stalking. He repeatedly ignores her boundaries when she sets them, because he can tell she's not serious, and often she isn't.

(Side note - can we PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE kill this horrible rapey trope forever? Fuck this "Blurred Lines" shit, how about we get a male character who respects the word no and a heroine who learns that if she wants something, she has to ask for it and not expect her partner to read her mind?)

These characters are apart without any contact for seven years and yet are 100% the same in their mid-20s as they are as teenagers, which goes to show you how incredibly mature and not childish they act throughout the book. (Seriously, do people's likes and dislikes not change AT ALL between ages 17 and 24? When I was 24 I was barely the same person as I was at 22 and a complete stranger compared to myself at 17. It would have been nice to see them adjusting to the people they became rather than being stuck in some teenage love stasis.)

Neither character is particularly well-drawn. Not a lot of depth. I really couldn't tell you anything about the characters past Aaron being a rich dick and Dayton being a jaded hooker. He calls her Bambi because, uh, she likes Bambi. (It would have been way cuter if their inside joke was him calling her Ohio and her snapping at him because she's not from there.) They blow up at each other over literally nothing, then have makeup sex. Rinse and repeat in a new locale, pepper heavily with Dayton complaining about everything and then taking it back because Aaron is the love of her life.

Why is he the love of her life? Hell if I know. The author does a terrible job of making him seem remotely sympathetic, especially once the final "twist" is revealed. He comes off like a petty, controlling, obsessive asshole, but he's a good match for the whiny, petulant Dayton.

Also, and I have this gripe with every other book in this subgenre that I've read, you cannot go around palming your lady's ass and making out with her AT YOUR DAMN JOB if you want to be considered a savvy businessman. It's unprofessional as hell. I mean, come on, the premise is ripe for tension and sneaking around, and yet every single time the alpha dickbag is pawing at the heroine in full view of the people who pay his bills.

This book could have been really good, but instead it was another retread of every other erotica book about a rich, jealous asshole and the obnoxious woman he claims to love but actually kinda abuses.

As for the upcoming sequel,

Book Notes:
-Dayton: hard headed, promiscuous, craves control, 24 yrs old
-Aaron: rich, alpha, controlling, mid 20's
-Plot: unique
-Writing: average. 1st person POV (Dayton's)
-Steam: high

This book wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good.
There were tons of things that annoyed me; most of all-Dayton. I could not connect with her at all. She was stubborn, in denial, and irrational. She was pissed off at Aaron for 80% of the book (not even kidding); I began to feel bad for Aaron. I feel like if Emma Hart did a better job at developing her character, I would've liked her better. But, as it was, I didn't see any good reason as to why she refused love and why she was even still a call girl.
I also loathed how every single one of Dayton and Aaron's conversations had at least one instance of dirty talk. It was so annoying! Oh, and I can't even count the number of times Aaron said "[insert sexual act here] till you're screaming my name".
And finally, I really wished that Emma Hart would've written some flashbacks to Aaron's and Dayton's past- when they met, their Paris romance, and Dayton's heartache when it was all over. For one, I would've understood Dayton better, and you can't do a second chance romance without flashbacks! It just doesn't work.

Mild Spoilers

Late Call was an okay read. I mean, it wasn't mind-blowing and it wasn't lame either.

A decent love story between a call girl and a rich CEO, who fell in love 7 years ago pre-call girl/CEO era.

So, why the 3.5 stars rating?

Well, if I had to narrow it down to one thing, it would be all the drama and back-and-forth in Dayton and Aaron's relationship.

It was obvious they both wanted to be together and I just don't get why he didn't propose to her to leave the call girl business and come live with him sooner.

That being said, their flashbacks to their Paris romance was the adorable, squishy kind that I overall liked but sometimes I just hated it. Chances are that the necklace scene completely did it for me, as in I eye-rolled my way out of it.

"The Tower for your love of it and the place we first met. The star for what I see whenever I look in your eyes... And the heart so I'll never forget I have yours."

Also, it seems to me that Dayton kept bitching about how she was heartbroken after Paris, how she never got over Aaron and how closed-off she was because of her job, but all that surfaced right after she started traveling with Aaron.

I don't know, I just expected she'd mention something before she ran into Aaron. Alas, she didn't and therefore, I couldn't actually feel how much their break up cost her until late in the book.

And, of course towards the end, there just had to be a-not-quite-ex-wife, who was obviously a bitch and a gold-digging, fame-thirsty model.

Speaking of models, that scene where they modeled together at the beach was just plain ridiculous. I mean, is it customary for the CEO of the advertising company and his girlfriend to model for swimwear or whatever? In what universe?!

(It reminded me of this:

Just ignore my crazy brain. Really, I actually say relevant things below.)

*takes deep breath*

I guess what I'm trying to say is that overall it was a pretty good read; I just felt like it stretched out in some points making it tiring for me. Or, maybe it was because of the "Bambi" nickname (what is it with the cartoon characters' nicknames anyway?). I don't know.

I guess I would recommend it, just not as a must-read.

I am so disappointed. This book sounded really interesting and I was really liking Dayton and Aaron's relationship but then...
1. It seemed a huge part of their relationship is sex. Lots of sex. I don't mind characters have a great physical relationship but the last 30% seemed to be mostly sex. Drove me crazy.
2. Aaron is far too controlling and possessive for me to love him. He decided what she would wear, when she would wear it, where she would go (even if she wasn't with him), who she could talk to and it became TOO much! Like seriously, dude, chill out.
3. Then the ending secret/twist came out of nowhere.
4. There were some seriously sweet and romantic moments but there were so many things that annoyed me and shadowed their relationship by the end. I was going a little crazy.

This book had some serious potential but failed in the end for me. Oh yeah, and the book ends with a cliffhanger. It sucks. I won't read the next book but things are going really bad for Dayton now. Poor thing. Dayton was really the only thing I liked about this book. She started off strong and I really felt for her but there were also several moments when she believed herself to be independent but let Aaron walk all over her. I couldn't wait for this book to end. Sorry to say this but it is true.

So this book had a bit of a VIP vibe too it what with the heroine, Dayton Black aka Mia Lopez, being a high class hooker minus the cheating with a married man part. So Dayton and Aaron met and fell in love during a summer vacation in Paris 7 years ago. They each decide to go their separate ways after the vacation but apparently never stopped loving each other. Fast forward 7 years and Dayton is now a high class call girl/hooker and a feisty little thing with a personality reminiscent of Drew from Tangled . Anyways, so one night she gets a last minute call to escort a client and *surprise surprise* it's Aaron. For the first 80% of the story we have Dayton pushing her feelings and the ever determined Aaron away until she finally gives in only to have a big secret exposed and then.....CLIFFY.

This book was OKAY. I personally liked Ysa from VIP more because I love when a heroine stays consistent and doesn't turn into a pile of mush at the hero's feet. I also found it annoyingly convenient that after 7 years of being a hooker she never once met a man that could give her an orgasm. Really? The only person to give one to her is OF COURSE Aaron. *Yawn* I hate that shit.

This book could also really benefit from some scenes in the past because we never really understand what they love about each other because the author so rarely offers anything about their past relationship.

Dayton Black is a 24 year old call girl living in Seattle. She is great at her job and gets paid well for her services. Her stage name for her dates is Mia Lopez. Dayton uses the alter ego to help her through the life she has chosen to live. It's not a life she relishes but after her parents death and having to drop out of the college, her Aunt Leigh, who used to be in the business, introduced Dayton to her old agent, Monique. Dayton is Monique's best girl and brings in the high rollers. Besides her Aunt Leigh and Monique, Dayton has a best friend Liv who helps to keep her grounded.

Dayton long ago gave up on believing in love. She had a summer romance when she was 17 while vacationing in Paris with her parents. Aaron Stone and Dayton agreed that they would spend the entire summer together and then simply say goodbye once they headed back to their separate lives in the United States on opposite sides of the country (Dayton on the west coast in Seattle and Aaron on the east coast in New York). Neither were prepared for the extreme love that would form between them or the extreme heartache they both suffered at the end of the summer. Either way, that caused Dayton to give up on love.

Now back to present day. Monique calls Dayton late one night for a last minute job. There's a client who needs the girlfriend experience for a dinner party and wishes to remain anonymous until the escort arrives. With Monique's insisitence, Dayton takes the job. After she gets ready, she heads to the destination and waits. When her date finally arrives, it is no other than AARON STONE! The dinner party is to celebrate Aaron becuase he will soon take over his father's company. With his parents there, Dayton cannot fall into her alter ego and has to be herself. After an awkward night, Dayton and Aaron once again part ways....until...

Monique informs Dayton that Aaron has bought her time and services for the next 6 weeks! He has to travel to several countries for the company and needs the girlfriend experience again for the many functions that he has to attend. Dayton wants to refuse because of their past and the strict rules of being a call girl but Monique rules with an iron fist and the triple rate is too good to turn down.

Intrigued? You should be! The sparks between these two are amazing! Dayton tries her best to keep Aaron at arm's length and to remind herself that he is just like any other client. Will she be able to continue to do so? Does the love they once shared still remain in their hearts? Read the book to find out! It is definitely worth it! I would recommend this book to anyone!

I will warn you. The cliffhanger at the end of this book will blow your mind! It is going to be a long wait to read the next installment in the life of Dayton and Aaron.

dnf at 50% but wished I'd given in earlier.
This just didn't work for me. I didn't feel the attraction between the characters, I didn't like either of the characters, I thought the male character was a possessive insecure arse who was growing more irritating by the minute and I wasn't enjoying the set up. They had history together but she kept pushing him away because...idk why she was pushing him away. Made no sense.
The writing descriptions lost me a few times too - he's pushed her against a wall, she's thrown her head back (apparently not bashing it on the wall though) and his arm's where? Baffled.
Not for me.

So... this book. The plot is somewhat interesting, however, it is driven and filled with the most cringy clichés. Such as the meet-cute beneath the Eiffel Tower.
The characters are not very convincing and at times absolutely annoying. Also, the male protagonist Aaron Stone is unhealthily possesive and controling. That is something I honestly enjoy in my erotica novels, but not in this extent. The female protagonist Dayton Black wasn't allowed not even to sit in a caffè by herself without him bursting in and dragging her away - in the middle of the day, when he "allowed" her to go put during the day.
I don't know how I feel about this book.

It feels as if the author was putting so many of those romantic clichés into the book to somehow balance out the possesive and unhealthy behavior of the characters.

~~ 4 "Second Chance" Stars ~~

I've read Emma Hart's other books and thoroughly enjoyed them.  So I was extremely excited when I learned she was branching out into the Adult Genre, I couldn't wait to read this book.  She didn't disappoint either. Emma created a story that kept me interested and also had a intriguing storyline.  I've read Escort books before but it's usually been the Hero who is the escort...so it was refreshing to switch it up with the heroine being the escort. Emma did a great job at creating characters who are relatable and believable. I thought the story flowed pretty well….there were just a couple spots towards the beginning that I felt the story jumped a little bit without a good connection. It was like certain scenes or thoughts weren't finished. This in no means deterred my enjoyment of the story. I loved how she created a second chance love story and was able to tell us about Aaron and Dayton's past through flashbacks throughout the story.

I have to say that I truly connected with Aaron and I felt his love for Dayton, but for some reason I didn't connect that well to Dayton. I loved her character and what she stood for and how independent she was. And also how she didn't make excuses for what she did for a profession. She owned it!!! What I think made it hard to connect with her was that she seemed pretty cold and aloof throughout that majority of the book. Her attitude towards Aaron was pretty mean and cold. I understand why she felt that way but it made it hard to feel what she was feeling once she finally gave into her feelings for him. I just wish she wouldn't have kept pushing him away for 3/4 of the book. Aaron on the other hand was AMAZING!!! Talk about the right mix of sweet and Alpha. He totally had his controlling possessive side, but he was also very sweet and tender when he wanted to be. His feelings were completely believable….at least until the shocker at the end of the book. But you'll need to read this book to know what I am talking about.

I have to say the only other character that I liked was Liv (Dayton's BFF). The banter between these two ladies was great and had me giggling through most of the book. I think everyone would love to have a friend like Liv. I hope we see more of her in Book 2.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a second chance love story. Also anyone who isn't afraid of having their panties melt. Emma did an excellent job with the steamy scenes in this book. I will tell you this book ended on kind of a cliffhanger. I am not sure if it truly is a cliffhanger or more of a to be continued ending. The way this book ended definitely leaves you wanting more. Thank goodness the second book comes out at the end of June…so I don't have to long to wait to see what happened between Dayton and Aaron.

**Oh and as a side note for those who are worried or curious….this story has NO cheating in it…I know it is about a call girl but Emma wrote a story that didn't include cheating!!!

I know I don't usually review erotic romance, but this is Emma Hart people. And I read everything Emma writes. So when she said she was doing this genre I was like, "Ooh girl! Get on with your bad self!" And she does folks. She SO does. However, this book isn't just about sex. It has a plot, character development, and you can feel all of our main character Dayton's emotions as she fights the battle between her heart and her mind.

Oh, Dayton. I don't know whether to hug her or shake her silly. She wasn't an easy character to love, that's for sure. She spent a lot of time being angry and unhappy about being forced to be Aaron's client/girlfriend. She ran really hot and cold with him and it was hard to gauge how she really felt at times, as she works really hard to keep her 'Mia' façade. (Mia is her call girl name) However, as Dayton continues to spend time with Aaron, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to fight off the only man you've ever loved. Aaron reminds her of a time of happiness and love, but also great heartbreak. Neither one has forgotten that memorable summer in Paris and both look back and wish they could change the outcome. Dayton however, won't let herself go to that place of longing and remembering. Call girls don't fall in love. She has spent years perfecting her call girl image and attitude and hell if Aaron Stone is going to ruin it.

Aaron, Aaron, AARON. You incredibly sexy beast you. Sigh. I do love my men a little bit alpha! Ok, Aaron is way more than a little alpha. In fact, he could be downright possessive and demanding! Which pissed Dayton off to NO END. He genuinely cares about her though and he hates that he had to buy her in order for her to be his fake girlfriend. He is determined to make her see how good they are together and how much he wants her- but it will be on his terms. I loved seeing him break down Dayton's defenses and how romantic he could be at the same time- especially while they are in Paris together. I love that he isn't deterred by her outbursts and how bitchy she could act toward him. She gets really angry and irritated when he insists on buying everything for her and taking care of her every need. Really, Dayton hates the loss of control. She doesn't want Aaron to have all the power. Once he does, she knows it's all over for her.

I definitely didn't see that twist at the end coming at all and UGH. Aaron. WHY, dude? WHY? *shakes head* Haven't you ever heard honesty is the best policy?! Sigh. After all that work... and all that chipping away at Dayton's steel exterior... Hmph. I'm going to go stew until book 2, Final Call comes out in June.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this one. The idea of a call girl being hired as her ex-boyfriend and love of her life's pretend girlfriend while jet setting around the world is definitely an intriguing storyline. Watching her fight her feelings and cling to the idea of what she's supposed to be is equally intriguing, but my favorite part of all were the incredibly sexy, dominating scenes between the two. Whew! So much hotness!

Oh my flippin freakin froo froos what an ending. I mean heaven help me Hanna Ms. Hart has you hanging with your mouth open eyes wide wanting no needing the next book with that ending. Wowzers!

Here's my face now:

this book will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen between these two long lost loves who walked away from each other seven years ago only to find each other and still love one another. One open about it the other hemming and hawing. Why the hem and haw? She's a call girl.

Dayton becomes one after her parents died and she needed money to stay in school. The money she made was too enticing and she went down the road of professional call girl. she gave up on love when she lost her parents and Aaron. Aaron from paris. One day she sees him again as her client. One night for Aaron is not enough. His love is still there and he wants his Dayton back his Bambi. He has six weeks to show her his love and convince her she is beautiful and deserves to be loved. And boy does he do good at it. he sweeps me off my feet that is for sure.

He is attentive and kind. So sweet and gentle and yet domineering at the same time. What is a girl to do but fall in love. Dayton continuously fights it until the bitter end. And the end is bitter. A nail biter that leaves you shaking your head. Oh my how this ends isn't expected and hearts a broken a gogo.

Ms. Hart weaves a web of deception that is intricate and yet sad while giving you an erotic loving train ride sweetly to that end. A book of love that never dies and pain that never ends. One in wish you hope Aaron fights and gets her and Dayton stops and listens. My bug eyes and I eagerly anticipate the next book let's hope the shock wears off from that spectacular ending soon or I may be catching some flies but they were sure worth it for this sensual ride of love. Wake up Aaron and get your woman convince her she is all you ever want and more man.

Ok, I'm in the minority with this one, so take this all with a grain of salt

Really, this should have been right up my alley. Second chance with a first love - and she's a call girl. Yeah, that should have been a home run.

The problem? I couldn't stand Dayton. She is angry the whole book. The whole freaking book! She even says a couple of times "I'm always angry". Truer words have never been spoken.

See, in the beginning, I got it. I thought it was ok that she was angry. I understood her need to push him away. But eventually it just felt like she reached for any excuse to be mad at Aaron, and it was just exhausting. Then, at the end of the book, when she has a legitimate reason to be angry again - I just didn't care. She broke my give-a-damn.

Then there was Aaron, who really should have been a swoony alpha-hero. Two things really interfered with any pleasure I might have gotten out of him. 1) supposedly Dayton is the love of his life. Everyone knows it. He's never gotten over her. He always thinks about her. He never moved on in his heart. But - he does nothing. Nada. Zilch. He's fabulously wealthy. His parents like her. He's supposedly mooning over her in his head all.the.time. But he does nothing. For seven years. It's just so unappealing. So un-alpha. So annoying that I just didn't buy that he loved her that much.

2) He likes angry Dayon. A lot. And he puts up with a ton of her irrational shit. Why exactly does he find that attractive? In what universe is always angry a turn on? The fact that he liked her at all baffled me - and made him unattractive. I just didn't get it. At all.

The writing was fine - I'm sure the steam was hot if you liked the characters at all. The storyline was interesting, but for me it was an execution fail.

Dayton Black is a high class call girl. One of the best..brings in the most for her mock-mother, Monique. She decided on this line of business when her life took a wrong turn, and since then, hasn't given love or relationships a second thought. That line of thinking is ably assisted by her cold, confident alter ego; Mia Lopez.

Aaron Stone is a CEO in waiting. He is destined to take over hIs father's successful advertising company, and has sought the services of Mia Lopez to accompany him on a party being held in his honour.

What transpires is that Mia & Aaron have met before, seven years ago, in the city of love. They had a summer of passion, where they decided it was ok to fall for one another, create everlasting memories, and then go their separate ways.

We catch up with them at that second meeting, and sit back and watch their highs and lows as they battle the scars their past together has left.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Not a unique storyline, but relayed very well and with likeable characters. Dayton was sassy, feisty, and driven, with perfect one liners. Whilst Aaron was domineering & controlling, but with tenderness and devotion. I was just completely lost in their story.

I have to leap straight into Final Call, as you will want to..

3/5 stars

It's not a bad book, but I also didn't love it. I like my books with a decent plot and this one is about 80-85% filled with sexy scenes and the plot that is present, pretty much revolves around it.
I found myself skimming the steamy scenes after about 50%.
The book itself isn't bad and Dayton and Aaron are mostly interesting. Though he was a bit too controlling for my taste and I would have liked a less predictable plot twist near the end.

It's one POV and it ends on a sort of cliffhanger. If you like your books heavy on the steam and low on the story, than this is the book for you.

FINALLY I FINISHED IT! Usually i like Emma Hart's book but this book is not for me, sure it was fine at the beginning then slowly I lose my interest until i have to skim some part because i'm bored. The man is controlling assh*le, i don't even bother to try remember his name. Dayton.. well she's okay but she can do better, i'm glad she made her decision at the end of the book. I know it's duology but i'm not sure i want to pickup the next book, i want to know how they resolved it but I may skim a lot of it if i pick it up.

it is a cute book and i have the next one so i will read it - but in short it is like reading the movie pretty woman. an escort - hired by her past and only true love to act as his girlfriend for a period of 6 weeks only to find they still love each other and yet trust issues make them need a second book to have their happily ever after....

I have a confession. This is my first Emma Hart book.

I have another confession. It won’t be my last!!

The writing and story flowed so that you were hooked and just wanted to keep going in their story so much so I wasn’t even watching the percentage creep up at the bottom of my kindle. I was engrossed in the romance, the background, the history and the geography of the storyline.

The book starts with a bang. Quite literally! You meet Mia, a high class call girl, the best of the best. She is extremely set in her ways and lives her life by the "four golden rules" –
“Get the money first. Don’t go over time. Don’t fall for the client. And no freaking sob stories.”

Oh, and Mia isn’t her real name.

Her name is Dayton. She is just a young woman with a broken heart and soul who did what she had to do to survive once she lost those closest to her at a young age. She’d lost the love of her life after their magical summer together in Paris 7 years previous. She’d lost her parents just a few years later. She was alone with her aunt. An aunt who introduced her into the way of life she had come to know and escape to whenever she could.

Enter in a last minute, urgent “call”. An up and coming businessman, ready to take over the family company, needing a female companion for the night to keep the high society vultures away. ‘Mia’ enters the room and the last person she expected to see was in front of her.
“Mia gives way to Dayton, because I look into a pair of eyes I haven’t seen for seven years.”
Aaron Stone. This one night turns into 6 weeks of ‘work’ for Dayton. And hard work it is.

Now, you can’t get much more alpha than Aaron. He will have your trembling in your panties, and soaking them just as much. I loved their interaction from their ‘first’ second meeting. I adored Dayton’s sassiness even if her indecision over how much to let Aaron in was annoying especially when he said ALL the right things!
“There isn’t a price I wouldn’t pay for you, Dayton. Money has no value when the thing you desire is priceless.”
Swoon, right?!

The story – well, I followed Aaron and Dayton around the globe. I encountered lecherous wives of rich and successful businessmen. I experienced a caveman Aaron, especially where the concierges were concerned. I saw the connection that Aaron and Dayton had forged 7 years previous still as strong as ever. I observed Day’s walls slowly crumble and Aaron’s resolve to remind her of who they were together strengthen.
“When you walked into the hotel and sat in front of me, I remembered everything. Looking at you was like being catapulted into the past again, and when you left a few hours later, I couldn’t let you go.”
What I didn’t get, what I wanted the most was for Day to throw caution to the wind and risk what her life was like now – hollow, empty, fake – and take off into the sunset with Mr Stone. *sigh*

Which brings me to the ending. Now, at first I was absolutely mortified at the way it ended. Even though it is a plausible ending – there was a sense of finality, albeit a sucky one – it wasn’t what my ordinarily happy heart wanted. After talking to Emma about it, she said how lucky we were for the story to end there was because the last chapter wasn’t supposed to be have been included. That prompted me to go back a chapter and see where it originally finished. Now, I know what a cliffhanger the ending should have been; I can cope with the one we were given. Until June. Bring on Final Call! Bring on the fight of their love. And what an epic one it is bound to be.

“I never stopped loving you. Not even for a second. It doesn’t get much simpler than that.”
