27-year-old heiress and animal rights activist Ophelia Barrington has gone no contact with her wealthy, powerful horse racing family for 2 years. When she gets arrested at a protest, she’s given two options: jail or spy on her family and find out how they plan to rig the Kentucky Derby.
But when she reluctantly goes home to Louisville, she finds someone with a powerful secret obsession waiting for her. . .
I have been craving exactly this type of book and it was perfect 😭😭😭
SUMMARY: **Silks is a taboo romance between biological twins. For full TW list, see author's instagram page.**
To avoid arrest, environmental activist and ag sci grad student Ophelia Barrington must return home to Kentucky to spy on her estranged horse-racing family. Authorities suspect the Barringtons of rigging their Derby entries and it's up to Ophelia to determine how.
Teddy Barrington is literally the trust fund, 6'5", blue-eyed finance bro and a ruthless, amoral asshole--to everyone except his twin sister. Heartbroken when Ophelia left Kentucky to pursue her education, Teddy is prepared to do anything it takes--seriously, anything--to prevent her from leaving again.
REVIEW: Silks was unhinged and degenerate, wacky and endearing. Everything you want in a Kate Rivenhall book.
Forced hydration kink might be my new favorite thing. For real, nothing shows you care about someone more than making sure they're well hydrated. If a man ever ordered me to drink a glass of water, I would 1) be outraged and fight him bodily, and 2) drink it and feel cared for AF. Not to mention, hydrated sex>>>> (if you haven't had sex after hitting the recommended daily water intake... you're welcome😉).
I thought that "I can't stop" was the hottest Kate Rivenhall MMC trademark line. Turns out it's actually, "Drink a glass of water."
I was obsessed with Teddy and Ophelia's dynamic. Theirs was a perfectly balanced push and pull; they very much felt like siblings.
The unhinged, dommy FMC + simpy Alpha MMC pairing--highly underrated!!! I know that Teddy is more tender than the usual KR MMCs, but I sincerely hope we get a few more deranged, creepy, violating FICTIONAL simps in the future. Not to mention grimy women!!!! Ophelia is the grimy queen I didn't know we needed.
Actual footage of Ophelia and Teddy.
This was beautiful. Thank you, Kate, you goddess of unparalleled brilliance. *forehead kiss*

Short and sweet and filthy and oh so wrong, and oh so right!
I loved this short, well-told story of forbidden love between twin siblings.
Teddy and Ophelia are twins, aged 27. Teddy has taken over the operation of their parents' racing stables, while Ophelia has left her family behind, horrified at the inhumane treatment of their livestock.
After Ophelia is arrested for animal rights protest activities, she is offered a reduced sentence in return for information regarding her family's plan to tamper with the forthcoming Kentucky Derby.
Teddy has been obsessed with/infatuated with his twin sister for as long as he can remember. He never acted on these feelings, but now that she is home again, he is determined that she will learn how he feels and that they will never be separated again.
This is a story of a sexual relationship between twin adult siblings. It is fantasy, but if that troubles you - even in fantasy - then this book and this review are probably not for you.
Teddy is an alpha male in almost every sense of the word. Such characters are usually frightfully dull, but Teddy's devotion to his sister is strong enough to redeem him in my eyes.
This book is too much for the 'zon, and you'll need to look for it elsewhere - I got mine from Smashwords. It comes with trigger warnings for
- Pussywhipped noncon - Birth control tampering - Somnophilia - Forced breeding - Spanking with a belt - Mistreatment of animals (horses) - Violence/Murder
It's all there, and I ate it up. While inarguably "wrong", the plentiful intimate scenes are a joy to read if you're, like, into this sort of thing. Which I am. ;)
lots of talk of derbies, which I think should be banned entirely, nevermind the extra abuse by some jockeys
the personality of the heroine shines through the most when she violently throws stuff around and makes a scene, which unfortunately she doesn't do often enough and when she does, no one takes her very seriously :/
It was hard reading this coming off of reading the rituals series because those MMCs were virgins and only had eyes for the FMC where as in this book, Teddy was a manwhore. He said he only had eyes for Ophelia but he had girlfriends and we hear many times how he’s been with a bunch of women but of course he pictures the FMC while he’s with them 🙄. But aside from that I actually did like Teddy. He was a good character. Ophelia wasn’t my favorite, she seemed very immature always throwing stuff and hitting him but he seemed to love it so…
Also it made no sense that a cop in Chicago was so worried about getting dirt on a family that lived in Kentucky. Wasn’t even if his jurisdiction so that was not believable at all.
NO CHEATING OW DRAMA (teddy has a on and off again gf at the beginning, she’s around but he dismisses her once the FMC shows up) OM DRAMA (Ophelia is trying to get dirt on her family and she flirts and tries to sleep with this guy in hopes of getting it, of course Teddy is always there and won’t let her but they do kiss off page) NO THIRD ACT BREAK UP TWINCEST HEA (for me it was HFN because they have a baby together but no one knows about them, everyone thinks the baby is Teddy’s nephew and not his son)
The worst thing is that I had faith in this little reading, I would have liked more development of both characters, in the hot scenes, 10/10 I must admit
Teddy was so feral for his sister it was intense! The way he would turn into a simp at the click of her fingers was actually really cute. yes. cute. incest was cute. serious question, is that legal in Kentucky? I don't want to Google it, my search history is already quite dubious. I'll book my therapy sesh in asap.
No sé ni qué decir... y con eso les digo todo. Hay una obsesión tremenda, consentimiento bastante dudoso, una escena MUY gris oscura tirando a negra. No sé, si lo leen, están advertidos.
Ophelia is an avid protestor of animal abuse. It's unfortunate that her family runs one of the most prestigious stables that compete in the Kentucky Derby and are known to be abusive to the horses. Which is why she has been estranged from them for years.
When she's forced to go home under cover because of a protest gone wrong, she's livid. Seeing her family again is not on her bucket list. Especially her twin brother, Teddy, who hurt her the most by not following her when she left. Only once Ophelia is back in Teddy's clutches, he doesn't intend to let her go.
I loved this! Just the right amount of plot and smut.
Teddy's over the top obsession for Ophelia was mouth-watering. I loved how he literally cares for nothing else but her. And I loved how he was already working behind the scenes to try to make her happy with the humane changes he was trying to make with the company. I also loved that he's insanely hot. Yum.
The chemistry between them was palpable. The off-page longing Teddy has had for Ophelia helped push the story forward and make the whole scenario more believable.
Teddy's violent outburst towards their dad was perfect. He's so fucking cool and calm, but also a fucking beast when he has to be. And his totally nonchalant way of admitting it to Ophelia was comical:
“Don’t be mad,” he said as we watched twilight steal over the rolling green fields. “But you know I killed Dad last year, right?”
Hahaha. It's just so...I donno. I just love Teddy.
Okay so overall I loved this. Definitely going to check out more from this author. I have read some of her stuff before, but this was the best from her I've read so far. Kind of itching to check out her Rituals series.

This book is... something else, lol. It's for everyone who totally shipped Jaime and Cersei in Game of Thrones.
Another reviewer describes it as depraved but also endearing, which I think is an accurate summary. For such a short novella, we get:
- a really interesting and relatively unusual premise, even without the romance (heroine is an animal rights activist forced back to the bosom of her wealthy Southern family to spy on them for the Kentucky Derby)
- good characterisation of both the hero and heroine (she's abrasive but also very likeable, he's a stereotypical finance bro who's a total milksop for her in the best way)
- a really surprisingly high dose of humour. This isn't a dark romance and I was very here for the dynamic.
I am now tearing through Kate Rivenhall's backlist, because (at risk of being redundant) she is also Something Else. And I don't hate it.
Eclipse Ritual set the standard for Rivenhall's books and for contemporary taboo stories for me. I have been in search for similar stories ever since finishing that, but nothing really scratches that itch. Although, a lot of books get very close. Silks included. I just adored Ophelia- wealthy girl turned hippie who fights for what she believes in and doesn't want the dirty riches. Also, I loved how there was actually plot within the smut- something I wouldn't have been surprised if remained left out or was chucked out the window since it's such a short novella. Other than that, all the smut was absolutely delicious. Teddy was unhinged and a self-acclaimed simp for Ophelia, and judge me all you like, but I was here for it. Like??? Taboo or not, I like my male leads obsessed with their heroines to the point their girls can do no wrong, and they're ready to blindly follow their lead. Teddy may have been a cold and ruthless psychopath, but I came to adore him for his own messed up way of loving and caring for Ophelia. And please. God. The ending <333 I am happyyyy!
This is a TOP favorite…. You just wanna call in sick so you can finish it…type of read for me!
My Kate Rivenhall obsession only grows deeper with this book!
For me Kate Rivenhall writes Taboo at its best. She does a phenomenal job of writing Taboo stories that make you slightly uncomfortable, but keep you panting for more! Ultimately leaving you with an obsession you didn’t know you were capable of! (You have been warned!)
Ophelia and Teddy are each their own kind of psycho… and it totally works. These two are relentless in their pursuits, obsessed to the nth degree, stupidly wealthy, and so damn hot!
Teddy is the best kind of Uber Hot OTT MMC & Ophelia is totally rocking all the ‘sexy curvy with a splash of crazy’ FMC vibes.
Their relationship is totally wrong, but you want it to be oh so right! It will leave you 😳🥵 💦 🖤
Ophelia is a reformed spoiled little rich girl who is estranged from her family and who spends her time as an animal rights activist. Teddy is her spoiled rich boy twin brother who has been obsessed with her for years.
The plot is so thin but we’re not really here for that so it’s fine. What we are here for is Teddy breeding Ophelia like the unhinged psycho he is, and Ophelia putting up a fight at every turn.
This is Kate’s latest entry into a catalogue of unhinged brothers, and it definitely satisfies the itch as we await the next book in the Eclipse Ritual series.
Medium burn with spanking, hair-pulling, somnophilia, and pussy-slapping.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ POV: Dual 1st Past
Pocas veces visto.
Banter, fast paced, dual POV's, lots of smexy times.. also absolutely taboo topics being handled beautifully. Def some things that doesn't make much sense and it's not really an epic book, but it's great fun, exciting, provocative, filthy and I coudn't put it down.
I see the vision of what this was supposed to be but it was executed poorly. Shit story, shit characters, and character development 😒 smh what a mess. Even the smut was bad and made no sense if you're trying to visualize it. Very disappointed 😞
I love it taboo, bl@@d related I love h didnt know in the first didnt want it 4 star because Heroine agree not thinking how thses accepted in public eye It very short story
