I really enjoyed the book although I have to admit I was apprehensive about it as the main character was a bit difficult to like at first (my opinion). But as she grew and learned, she became more likable.

Emma considers herself to be a matchmaker par excellence, however as it turns out, she just likes to meddle in other people’s lives, she is very judgmental, prejudiced and considers herself to know better that those she imposes upon. She does this with poor Harriet, an orphan who is in love with a satyr called Niku, and whom Emma considers to be below her standards. Emma could not abide seeing any human relating with those of any other species, yet ironically her best friend and constant companion was Danavir Knightly, a fairy no bigger than her thumb, who had exceptional magical powers including those of healing. And she had no qualms about using these healing powers, and passing them off as her own. In this very humorous book Emma is the last to know which relationships work including her own, but I am glad that she gets to see the error of her ways. and gains a change in character till the end of the book which was such fun to read, as we get to see a mermaid, an elf, a fairy and a satyr all getting the love they deserved. I love the happy ending to this tale of romance, intrigue and mischief.
