I need more.... I genuinely NEED more... I probably could read 10 more volumes with their story.. just their day to day life... and be overjoyed waiting for the next volume.
3.5 ⭐️ Again a super cute entry into this series. While it didn't sweep me away as much as the previous ones, it still had good moments and explored, with Mika's usual thoughtfulness, themes of trust, confidence, and boundaries.
Kakeru and Yamato are approaching the summer holidays, and facing the possibility that they won't be in the same class next year. They are also struggling with being public about their relationship, and interestingly, in this volume, it's Yamato who feels more reserved. The two of them also navigate their relationships with their other friends, slowly but surely realising that they all form a tightly-knitted group. They plan their summer vacation around a camping trip at a spring camp, and Kakeru tries his very best to make the trip memorable for Yamato, but struggles to find some time alone with him.
Still, I'm happy I read more of these two, and I'm hoping that Mika continues the series! It's still up there as one of the most pining slow burns, but also a story full of compassion and kindness. Highly recommend!
I’ve been so invested in this series (which I’m not usually so committed to shounen ai reads lol), they’ve all been good but this one was the best yet. I was so worried for their friendship with the guys, esp for Kakeru’s sake, but the way it played out was perfect. I want so much more of their story. 😭 it’s so precious and wholesome!!
Only took 8 books, but we are here friends. High school romance, so the burn is slow, but it seems like now that they are actually a couple, the pacing has improved. Not that it's fast by any stretch of the imagination, but it has a good flow. I enjoyed the friend conflict in this volume. It allowed for some of the building of relationships outside of the couple to have a good payoff. The friend group is cute overall, so seeing them now be a solid group makes for some fun dynamics.
I don't really like this manga. I only finished it because I bought all the volumes and figured I might as well read them since I owned them. I am annoyed though because I thought the story was completed. I will not be continuing the series if more volumes come out at a later date.
things are finally moving (everybody cheered) hosaka is my favourite character, as always, but i cannot believe how much fujino has grown on me. from the drama i never had any particular close feeling towards him but i enjoyed getting to know his and kakeru's backstory in this volume so much
I suppose I was a little harsh to Fujino, although it still feels warranted. He ends up taking the "not homophobic, just sad to be left out" route, refusing to go to the celebratory meal Amamiya proposes, and avoiding Kakeru at school, but only because he's hurt and embarrassed that he was acting like a straight know-it-all while Kakeru's other friends already knew he was dating his male best friend.
It is a pretty good textual recovery, with some flashbacks to Fujino and Kakeru meeting during the entrance exams, with Kakeru being really kind and supportive - and Fujino helping him right back during the interview portion. Again, I'm not sure the series was planned out that well, because Fujino didn't seem to know very much about Yamato in Volume 1, which would be a pretty important aspect of being Kakeru's Other Best Friend And Confidante, his role in later volumes.
The friends weekend trip was nice, though, and I liked how it showed all the different types of layers of friendship. It's so funny to me that Hosaka ended up being my favorite character of the series. He's so underused.
It took 8 volumes, but there's finally a kiss that actually feels mutual and not wildly awkward and inappropriately placed. Kakeru putting in so much work to show Yamato the cherry blossoms is incredibly sweet, and he finally feels like he's on the same page as Yamato in all aspects of their relationship - even the intimidatingly physical bits.
And of course, that's where the series stalls out! Weirdly, it seems that while I was busy not keeping up with this series, Mika was taking a two year hiatus? This was published in Japan in 2023 (and in the US in 2024), while volumes 9 and 10 are coming out in Japan in 2025...who knows when Yen Press will translate them, but I am, at least, looking forward to the rest of their journey now. I do still hope it starts to speed up a little, but at least we're past the repetitively tiring will they won't they stage.

This really is one of the sweetest romances out there. This is volume 8 of the Japanese high school romance. So many sugar moments. We get a kiss or two in this volume as well.
This is a great volume. Yamato and Kakeru decide to tell their friends about their relationship. It mostly goes well. Still, some issues need to be ironed our. Fujino has a lot in this story and we still have yet to meet his girlfriend.
They seem to graduate. Yamato is giving a graduation speech for the third years and then they go camping as a group and it’s calling them second years, so I’m confused if it was their graduation or not.
The camping trip had some funny stuff going on. The tension between the two is palpable. This is really one of the best series out there. The TV show is on Netflix and it’s such a joy to watch. I’m so glad we have this story. I need to do a re-read. It’s that good.
Kakeru remains as naive as ever, but on a whole, the boys are largely on the same page finally. Their closest 3 other friends are in varying states of knowledge about their relationship at the beginning, but everyone is in the know by the end, though Yamato is trying to be more conscious of his actions in public - something he clearly struggles with given the number of near misses in public despite his concern with things he overhears while they're out on their date. Kakeru's oblivious nature really comes out in their camping trip though, despite Yamato's jealousy and their friends subtly trying to set things up for them. It doesn't truly feel like an end, but it does denote the end of this period in their school life together and a agreement with what they mean to each other, even if Kakeru is still way too embarrassed and Yamato still has issues with timing and holding back.

Omg it’s so damn cute. They are officially boyfriends and all their friends know and support them! They go on a cute little weekend trip. I can’t believe there isn’t more to read right now.
Finalmente, puedo MORIR TRANQUILA.😢♥️
